Not that it'll even BE November by the time we run out of space on this thread...

I'll dig it out tomorrow and see what else I have laying around

sparkletoes · 15/10/2008 23:35

Might help if I gave you postcode Vbab! Are u on facebook and I can message you?

Gawd is that the time must go to bed.

vbab78 · 15/10/2008 23:38

SPARKLE - REALLY, REALLY SORRY. BUT DIDNT REALISE THERE WAS A CABRIO AND CABRIOFIX. Just assumed that the black reflection maxi cosi CABRIOFIX that came up was mine as it looks the same.

Just got the manual out and it says just "Cabrio" on the front. Sorry. Good job I found out before posting on ebay! I wonder how many are wrong on there.

missygoo · 16/10/2008 01:04

lacks I too am sending my DH to the vets, but I am told that they will not do it until this LO is 6 months old. Eek, worried about falling preggers before that.
Unlikely if BF goes well again, but you ever can tell.

misdee My LO has been in same position for ages! Opposite way round to you. Head right down, bum up under my left boob kicky wee feet out to the right. When I was in hospital and they were monitoring me, I could tell them exactly where to put it. And yes, I prob do mean that both ways, IYSWIM

LackaDAISYcal · 16/10/2008 01:53

oooh, don't trust BFing! That's what got me into this mess

sparkletoes · 16/10/2008 09:21

No worries Vbab I was going to ask you to double check that anyway...!! They don't make Cabrio anymore but you may still be able to sell it... (reason my friend giving me an easybase is the people who bought her seat didn't want a base).

I am also not going to trust BF Missy another girl I know also got PG relying on that method!!

chocolategal · 16/10/2008 09:24

Obs - you're a Margaret Atwood fan I believe? Assuming you've read everything of hers (if not let me know - I have lots in paperback I can post to you). Also, have you read any Kate Atkinson? It's not tooo middle of the road but not quite M.A.
Also - Jonathan Safran Foer's "Everything is Illuminated" is brill.
And my favourite book ever, "The Corrections" by Jonathan Franzen.
Let me know.

LackaDAISYcal · 16/10/2008 09:26

chocolategal you might be able to help me this morning. you're a nurse, is that right?

LackaDAISYcal · 16/10/2008 09:34

we are the house of sick this morning. DS has been vomiting every half hour since 3.30am and can't even keep fluids down . I've been on NHS direct website and it says call the doc if child is vomiting continuously. Is every half hour continuous? Don't want to bother them if unnecessary, but equally he's never been this poorly before so don't know what to do

Thank goodness DH is home, as I'm not dealing with it too well at the minute and fell pretty sick myself; but that might just be a reaction to DS.

And to cap it all, DD woke up every hour from 3.30 as well. DH and I are like the walking dead this morning, especially as I didn't get to sleep until about 2.30!

Kids....who'd have 'em????

sparkletoes · 16/10/2008 09:36

Definately call doctor Daisy

suiledonn · 16/10/2008 09:41

Morning all. What a lot of chat. DD in a terrible mood this morning so not sure if I will get to catch up on everything.

LOL at Lacks - My sister has her dc3 to prove the breastfeeding as contraception doesn't work!!

I'm really annoyed this morning about the combined care system we have for maternity here. It alternates every second visit between anti-natal clinic visit to the hospital and GP. In my GP's you see the practice nurse for routine things like blood pressure, weight etc and she will ask the doctor to come in if there are any problems. Well, last visit I had leucocytes in my urine and had to send a sample for testing. It took nearly a week for the results to come back and it showed signs of infection. There was supposed to be a sensitivity test result to show what antil biotic I needed (if any). I had a follow up visit yesterday and that result hadn't come back - it's been a week and a half and I still have the infection. The nurse is useless - can't tell me whats going on. She called in the doctor - he didn't seem to have a clue either but gave me a prescription for an anti biotic I have to start taking now even though without the test result we don't know if it is the right one for what I have. For that matter don't even know what type of infection I have. OK Rant over for now.

chocolategal · 16/10/2008 09:42

daisy yep every half hour is continuous, i wouldnt worry about bothering anyone and call gp surgery and say that DS isnt managing to keep fluids down.

i am not an expert on childrens nursing, but know they become dehydrated much quicker than us so whereas our gps would fob us off they should take it more seriously when its a wee one,
goodluck

vbab78 · 16/10/2008 09:43

missygoo - One of my friends fell pregnant with her "surprise" 3rd child while her 2nd was young. Even though she said "we were being careful" she also said the old wives tale "cant get pregnant while BF" . So I do wonder how careful they were? I was told at my 1st antenatal class when pregnant with DS that it was nonsense.

My DH wont consider the snip at all. Mentioned it a few times and he just refuses. Dont think it helps that his friend (the husband to my friend in the story), mutual friends you see as me and DH were introduced by them, says he wont have the snip either.

LackaDAISYcal · 16/10/2008 09:43

thanks chocolategal

LackaDAISYcal · 16/10/2008 09:46

we just miscalculated with the BFing thing. My period had been every 7-9 weeks since it came back when DD was 9 weeks old........of course it had to right itself the month we decided to take a chance didn't it? I ovulated two or three days after we took the risk (too late to bother with the MAP we thought)and it was a tense wait till we got the BFP. With DH repeating ad nauseaum "don't worry, you won't be pregnant"....famous last words

chocolategal · 16/10/2008 09:48

suiledon that sounds very frustrating, have they tested your urine again? it may be showing something different after a week and a half!?
they will give you a broad spectrum antibiotic(prob a penicillin based one) that will do the job if the infection is still there but ideally they would have results back 1st!

i had to phone my health centre this morning to get repeat bloods done as the ones they took at the antenatal clinic in the hospital last week were labelled wrong so weren't processed!
well the gps/practice nurses wont take pg ladies bloods and HAS to be the midwife!!! my MW phoned and said she'd just do them on monday!
i am needing another random blood glucose done to query if i need a GTT as baby is measuring BIG!! arghhh!
ok, my rant over too!!!

LackaDAISYcal · 16/10/2008 09:53

I'm waiting on a call back from the GP now.

MonkeyMargot · 16/10/2008 10:08

Lacks - hope your DS is alright . You must all be shattered after the night you've had.
Interesting reading about you falling PG whilst BF. Since it took me 3 years to get PG in the first place, I imagine I won't be one of those who gets PG by accident. Although maybe it's different once your body's done it once.

LadyBuzz · 16/10/2008 10:10

Lacks hope everything is OK
Monkey my cousin took 6 years to concieve her first and was pg again when he was 3 months old! she wasn't BF though she just figured there was no point being careful cause it took so long last time so you just never know!

MonkeyMargot · 16/10/2008 10:28

Ooh blimey LadyB. I will take heed! Got no idea how long to wait til we start trying again. What's everyone's view on a decent age gap between siblings? Some of my friends have popped out 2 in quick succession, and whilst it was knackering at the time, are now through the worst. Whilst others waited 5 years, and had got so used to an orderly life, that the arrival of another LO really threw them off kilter.

missygoo · 16/10/2008 10:36

Oh no no, I know not to trust BF on it's own. Sorry I gave that impression. Funny to have so many dispute it
No, I will take that pill thing as well.
I am not taking any chances! I am sooooo not doing this again.
DH says he would love 3, I think cos he was one of 2 and thinks that more would have been fun, growing up. But the reality of parenting more than 2 is too much for me, I came from 3, until I was 6, then 4. So I know it is hard work, saw my mum work! So he is just outa luck!
I have a friend who also came from 4 and she is on her third now and will no doubt go on to 4 but it is just not for me.
I feel a little sorry for DH, you just want to give them all that you can to make them happy, but I have to draw the line at this.

Oh lacks poor you but more so poor DS. Hope the GP helps and sorts him out quick fast.

LadyBuzz · 16/10/2008 10:49

whispers I want 4 DH says no though so it won't happen, I think we will probably go for 3 though - Although don't quote me on that I am only going on how DS has been, he really is a PFB and we have had no real problems with anything with him so I am expecting to get Satan reincarnated this time round and may not want to risk it again!
2 1/2 years is the most common gap I think (there are quite a few of us on this thread with that gap) but I suppose there will be advantages and disadvantages with any age, all I know is DS is not in nappies which is fab for the cost but he has been very hard work whilst pg as he learned quite quickly that I can no longer run after him or get up fast enough to stop him doing something - Oh is he going to get a shock when this baby is out and I suddenly can again!

sparkletoes · 16/10/2008 11:10

I had a feeling you knew that already Missy!

My DH is one of 3 and would also like 3 but right now I am not keen. Can't say I won't ever change my mind tho. We'd need a bigger gap if there was a next time around anyway as childcare costs for 3 would be too much so have a few years to think about it! I am happy with thought of just having 2 tho.

I think you will just know when time is right for another addition MonkeyM. I always thought I'd want mine v close together then when DS came along I just wanted to enjoy him for a while. However, changed my mind again at Xmas and we decided that we would try for another in the new year... I did expect it to take until about June to get PG again as it took that with DS. Was a bit that it happened so quickly but both DH and I were also very pleased!

Hope the GP helps Daisy...

LackaDAISYcal · 16/10/2008 11:47

We've not to worry too much about DS yet; if it goes on for much longer than 12 hours then we have to watch out for signs of dehydration. We have stretched out being sick to every hour and half so I suppose he's getting better . He's only had one wee in 12 hours though.

'tis a funny old thing this conception malarkey. On the flipside I know someone who had a honeymoon baby (she stopped taking her pills the month before her wedding) and then took over six years to have the next one. But, apparently you are at your most fertile immdiately after giving birth

Right off to try and make a scrabble word. Tried earlier but all I could do was stare at the screen and think wibble wibble wibble.

Oh, and popped out to the shops for some lemonade for DS and it was a bit cold...it felt like someone was sticking freezing cold needles in my nipples.........ouchity ouchity ouch
