Hello! I'm new to mumsnet AND being a mum ? this is my first!! Am only 15+3 weeks. I live in Blackheath / Lew and was wondering if there are any pregnancy groups that I can join / attend other than the NCT classes (I might be too early for those classes?). Just a gossip coffee on a saturday morning with people in the same boat would be nice!

I often catch the train from Blackheath St and wonder if there are any other 15 weekers on the platfrom just getting over morning sickness!!

Im very accessible to Manor Park too.

Would love to hear from anyone

Em

Tupperwife · 31/03/2009 12:01

Tupperbaby had BCG yesterday and is having 8 week check and jabs today [grumpy baby emoticon] so we'll give this week's pub trip and Cafe Rouge a miss I think.

This Friday is the boat that rocked at the Picturehouse at 11.30; apparently there is no discernible plot and a great soundtrack so it sounds like the perfect film for the sleep deprived and short of concentration! Maybe see some of you there (remember to go early if it's your first trip cos you'll need to join and the queue is MAHOOSIVE because of all the prams)

se8mum · 31/03/2009 16:45

Tupperwife, have you still got your birth pool? if not any recommendations? and can we take it to hospital?

thanks

Tupperwife · 01/04/2009 09:20

My pool already found a new home with daisyj

QEH have a permanent pool and a couple of inflatables, so no need to take your own there, not sure what Lewisham have. It's also worth checking that all their midwives are trained to do water births, and if they routinely deliver in water as well as labouring. I was asked to get out for an internal exam (I refused ), and told to get out for the third stage (very glad I did, I had a huge shivering fit just after the cord was cut which would have scared me if I'd still been in the pool).

8 week jabs were OK yesterday, he slept very heavily last night so is a real hungry Horace this morning...

ToastnHoney · 01/04/2009 10:44

Hello all! Great to see some of you at aquanatal yesterday.

Anyone heard any news from rosa7 or daisyj?

Do we still have plans for local bumps/babies to meet up in Cafe Rouge in Greenwich tomorrow afternoon? I am up for it as need to distract myself from the fact that my due date is this weekend!

If so, can I make a selfish plea that we meet slightly earlier, maybe 2pm? I've got to head off to the osteopath at 3.

I see Tupperbaby will be recovering from his jabs but is anyone else planning to be there?

xx

feb80andthebump · 01/04/2009 11:50

I did propose a meet-up at The Railway tonight but am no longer able to make it, sorry. Don't know if there was much interest though as most of us now seem to be on mat leave or already have their bundles of joy! If anyone does still decide to catch up this evening I hope you have a nice time. See you soon! x

BumpMakesTwoAndABit · 01/04/2009 12:55

Hi all. Work's still manic, so didn't make aquanatal yesterday.

Meet-up at The Railway tonight - is anyone planning to go? I think only 2 or 3 of us were definites anyway, so if Feb80 can't make it, it sounds like it's probably off! I could potentially still make it, if at least 2 other people are planning to go, and say so here in the next 2 or 3 hours.

Next Wednesday (8 April) would actually work better for me, given work at the moment, but that might be too late for some of you - can anyone make that date, or want to?

I'll be at yoga at the Arches tomorrow - anyone else? Can do lunch straight afterwards, but Cafe Rouge at 2pm or later doesn't really work for me, since yoga finishes at 1pm.

Finally - congratulations to all those with new arrivals! There seems to have been a bumper crop in the past week or so!

And good luck to those waiting - Rosa7 and Daisyj, if they still are(!) - and Toastnhoney for the weekend!

se8mum · 01/04/2009 18:16

I can do cafe rouge at 2...please confirm if we change the time

ellie732 · 02/04/2009 10:16

I can do cafe rouge greenwich at 2 rather than 3...shall we say 2 then?

ToastnHoney · 02/04/2009 10:32

Great, see some of you at 2 then xx

becko · 02/04/2009 12:53

Hello all,

Normal communication has been resumed after radio silence. Rowan is now 9 days old and we have started some form of routine which means less crying (from me!) and more feeding (from her!).

Tara373 congrats on the speedy labour! Hope the postman had brought something worthwhile!

Thinking of you Daisyj and Rosa 7 - do hope all goes well.

Hopfully we'll be joing the Greenwich outings in the next week or so.

xxxxx

clare7rose · 05/04/2009 15:10

Hi everyone!

Sorry I haven't been online for a while, I had a bit of a stressful time in hospital.. was in labour for 3 days before finally having a c.section, but Layla Rose is just perfect and it's all forgotten now.. I'm recovering well.

My Mum has been to stay for the last few days and some sort of routine has started which is good, last night Layla slept really well and I had 5 hours unbroken sleep - delightful!!!! I doubt it will be like that tonight though. The test will be when Mum goes home.

Congratulations to all the new arrivals..! Wow, there's been a bit of a boom while I've been away!

Looking forward to catching up with all of you soon, I have quite a few visitors over the next week or so and my in-laws are arriving for a week on Wednesday, but I might be able to pop out at some point so will keep an eye on here for the meet ups.

Love to all!
Clare & Layla Rose xx

rie1 · 06/04/2009 13:40

Hi
Clare7rose suggested that I sign up to Mums net as I havnt started ante natal classes yet and dont know many Mums to be in the area.
Im due in June and start maternity leave in just under 6 weeks so would love to join any social events which are arranged - Im worried about being a loner with a baby otherwise!!

Ellora · 06/04/2009 18:17

Hi

Rie1: welcome and soon you won't know how to get rid of us am sure! Congrats on baby and hope to meet with you soon though am only just starting to venture out with 3 week old baby so taking a while! What is your exact due date and can update the list by the way?

clare7rose - so nice to hear you and Layla doing well after such a long labour, luckily that hormone kicks in where we start to forget all the details soon!

ToastnHoney - thinking of you and your due date this weekend!!

evergrounded · 07/04/2009 18:03

Hello ladies- may I join you? Have discovered this group through Ellie 732 - am also a Blackheath/Greenwich mum-to-be - due date is 30 April, and have just started coming to Aquanatal- my real name is Emma- met some of you today!

daisyj · 08/04/2009 09:13

Hi all

Lovely to see this thread as lively as ever. Can't wait to meet up with people soon, so I can show off... Maya Celine...... born at home, 12.07 a.m., 1 April weighing 8lb 4oz. Home birth was fantastic. I didn't give birth in the pool in the end, but had a good three hours in there, which was lovely. The midwives were amazing, and waited right till the end to give me a little cut so I could get the little lady's big head out!

She is doing really well. Although she had lost a little bit too much weight at her 6-day check, she has fed brilliantly the past few days and slept for FOUR HOURS in one stretch last night, so figures crossed for her next weighing tomorrow, and if all is well I will be out and about with her in no time.

Becko - glad all is well. A walk in the park for us next week, methinks.

Tara - well done! Looking forward to meeting up with our antenatal class soon, if I haven't missed the next get together. Am off to check my Yahoo account to see what is being/has been planned.

Anyone heard from Rosa?

xx to all, especially those due around now.

daisyj · 08/04/2009 09:13

Oh, and pics on my profile.

ellie732 · 08/04/2009 13:50

Hello all,
Becko, Clarerose and daisyj, fantastic news from you all. And a big welcome for babies Rowan, Layla and Maya - well done to all of you.
As I get scarily nearer to the top of the "labour list" its very encouraging to hear everyone's different experiences and good news.
I'm guessing that rosas silence means that there's some news there as well!
This thread gets gradually more "post-natal" every time I check it!
evergrounded (Emma!) - hello!
Rie - hello as well. Honestly, don't worry about being alone as a new mum round here! I'm still trying to get to grips with the number of new and pregnant mums in Blackheath!
At aquanatal yesterday some people were wondering about meeting up this Thus. I think some people are going to Yoga at the arches (is that a pregnancy Yoga thing or not?) and think that meeting somewhere round there at 1.30 afterwards would be good. I don't think anyone could decide where to go - although it seems to me that a growing meet up concern is going to be buggy space if new mums want to come along! We were previously meeting at Cafe Rouge in Greenwich, which might work. Anyone else got ideas?

Tupperwife · 08/04/2009 14:52

daisyj Really chuffed to hear that the pool was useful and of homebirth. Mr Tupperwife is still talking about a home waterbirth 'next time'...

Since those who don't yet have newborns are probably drowning in family anyway over Easter, shall we do a lunch towards the end of the month? Blackheath is pretty easy for everyone; what about the Railway? Or the Princess (with the option of sitting on the heath if it's a nice day )? What about Wednesday 29th April?

BumpMakesTwoAndABit · 08/04/2009 18:06

Hi everyone,

congratulations Clare (and daisyj and becko, again)! Someone (I'm 99% certain SE8mum but I'm losing my memory fast) told me Rosa7 had given birth and all was well, but I'm sure she'll update properly...

Tomorrow (Thurs) - yes, yoga at the Arches is the antenatal yoga session. 12-1.

We hadn't fixed a place to meet, other than 1.30pm in Greenwich. Only problem with Cafe Rouge, which a few people raised, is that the food is rubbish, so it's good for coffee and cake but not so good for lunch. Biscuit was suggested too - but I think they're going to be very busy, since it's school holidays and they've got some special Easter paint-your-own promotion running.

How about: the organic cafe, Royal Teas, George/Bar du Musee or Buenos Aires. Or Starbucks by Cutty Sark. Or Pizza Express or Saigon (noodles) if people are hungry for more than a sandwich. Would any of these work for anyone? If poss, it would be better to keep it central Greenwich rather than Royal Hill, if only for those of us walking from the Arches!

elk4baby · 08/04/2009 23:45

BIG congratulations to all the new mums! Seems there's more and more on this thread
1:30 on Thurs. in central Greenwich works for me. Seems we're still undecided on the place though... anyone willing to take the lead on this?

a question for daisyj and any of the new mums with cats in the house: how was your cat's reaction to the new arrival? Any words of wisdom? tips on making the introduction smooth?

feb80andthebump · 09/04/2009 08:58

Hip hip hooray! Congratulations to all the new Mums, fabulous news! Glad you're all doing well. Seems there has been a run on little girls recently... plenty of playmates for my pink parcel due in June ;-)

Welcome rie1 and all other newbies to the thread. Look forward to meeting you soon.

Hope everyone has a lovely Easter weekend enjoying the new babies, or in my case scoffing double the amount of chocolate eggs. (I'm pregnant - it's my right and duty!!!)

becko · 09/04/2009 09:29

Congratulations DaisyJ and looking forwards to a walk in the park next week and to meeting Maya. So pleased the home birth went according to plan - is something i am definitely considering if there is a "next time"

Good to have even more new faces - there are just loads of us!

29th April works well for me in Blackheath. Happy Easter all.

BumpMakesTwoAndABit · 09/04/2009 10:41

Well, since nothing's been decided yet, I say:

1.30pm today, George's/Bar du Musee (can't remember what it's called any more!), Greenwich.

If anyone has any major objections we can always move, but at least we have a meeting place and time - and there is plenty of room for buggies there, if any are coming.

I'll be there, if nobody else turns up by 1.45 I'll go home, as I'm not sure who's coming. Hope to see some of you at yoga/lunch!

rie1 · 09/04/2009 13:36

Hi Everyone
