summerbird · 27/09/2008 15:37

Hi there

Did the test last night even though DH wanted me to wait a few days. I wanted to just do it to see if i could have a glass of wine or not and hoo-bloody-rah after 6 months of TTC number one i got a BFP on the free ClearBlue digital test!

So need to get a GP appointment but reckon i am due on 5 June 2009.

Anyone want to join me?

We had a 2nd scan for B2 today. All fine , great in fact, good strong heartbeat (the scan machine even lets you hear the heartbeat!) Dr is a bit perplexed as last time I went exactly 3 weeks ago he thought the embryo was about 3 ½ weeks old and now it is 8! I am however much happier with the 8 as that is exactly what I thought! Dr says due date is 4 June but I still reckon 6th (or 9 days later if DS is anything to go by!). Nuchal etc on 20 November for me.

We?re breaking the news to the parents tomorrow and I am really nervous about my folk?s reaction. They need to know though I am so sick of my Mum?s comments about my diet clearly not working and that I have a fat tummy ? actually, I?ve lost 5 pounds in the last month! Wish me luck.

Tee ? lovely for your baby to have a cousin so close in age I found that all the months TTC faded away when I actually got pg Padded bras can help sore boobs apparently!

Welcome and congrats Magnummum expecting my 2nd on the same day too! Isn?t it just so lovely to see that heart beating?

Choccie ? I have the greasy hair too but 3 or 4 people have told me that I am glowing and look so well, which until today?s scan I found worrying at this stage in the game! How?s the tooth?

Hello Milkmade Jools Chloe and Littlesarah

Diege ? exciting news about the scan! Try raisin brad, lasts longer in the old tum!

Dawn ? sorry they won?t give you a reassurance scan I have always found them helpful.

Leaky ? isn?t it funny how all you want to eat is crap t this stage!

Flynn ? poor you! Have you tried the travel sickness bands? Work for some!

MrsMcJnr I am so happy your scan went so well! I am dying to hear the babies heartbeat, but its gonna be a few weeks!

BobsWendy · 24/10/2008 08:59

hi girls
Can I join in? I'm due my 3rd on 26th June, I totally cannot wait, I'm so excited.

I had my other two babies in Ireland, so the system over here is all new to me.

Looking forward to chatting.

Major chubby belly happening here at 5 weeks already, o lordy!

Tee2072 · 24/10/2008 09:01

Hi bobswendy!!! Welcome! Where in Ireland? Where are you now? Man, I am nosy!

BobsWendy · 24/10/2008 09:06

flynn1984 · 24/10/2008 09:11

Morning all

Congrats bobswendy!!
Tee same as you this morning up at 5am not sure if it was because of the stormy winds up here in west of scotland

Morning sickness isn't too bad this morning - tried some suggestions yesterday like toast which has helped a treat, still feel sick but not actually been sick yet so fingers crossed it stays that way! Roll on 4pm when I finiah work just want to go home

ChloeandAlfie · 24/10/2008 09:14

Hungry, hungry, hungry!

Been up since 5 with a snotty boy. Feel like I'm coming down with a cold as glands are up in neck. Grrr. Can't take anything either than paracetamol. Double grr....

Roll on weekend. It's half term too so got DH home for the week. I'll need to be prepared for the house to be a tip for the week....

ChloeandAlfie · 24/10/2008 09:15

Sorry, should be 'other' than paracetamol....

LittleSarah · 24/10/2008 09:17

Ah MrsMcJnr, you got to hear the heartbeat! I could only see it... bring on scan no 2!

Really long day yesterday and totally knackered last night. Had a (warm) bath and definitely noticed my breasts were bigger, I remember how much bigger they got last time too... ahhhhh.

Milkmade - we're all in a rush to leave before 8am most mornings too! I know he would do breakfast in bed but there nevers seems to be time.

Dawnofthedead - You know I'm really into cheese too. Last night I had rice krispies for tea and didn't think I could eat anymore until dh came home and made me macaroni cheese!

Oh, and agree on the please no more 'creamy secretions' talk!

Hello bobswendy and welcome!

BobsWendy · 24/10/2008 09:18

girls I have a hen in NY in 3 weeks time when I'll be 8 weeks pregnant. Its an 8 hour flight from Manchester and I'm flying over on a fri, and home on a sun, all on my own(rest travelling from Dublin). I'm a nervous flyer at the best of times.... I don't want to jeopardise my beany in any way.....

What would ye do??? All opinions welcomed

ChloeandAlfie · 24/10/2008 09:22

Mmmm.. I don't think flying will affect baby, though you might be more knackered. I'd go, but try to get as much rest as possible...

BobsWendy · 24/10/2008 09:25

btw, you all have v early scans?? I just have midwives appt at 8 weeks, will there be a scan at that?

(sorry am dumbass to UK system)

ChloeandAlfie · 24/10/2008 09:29

I think if you've had a MC in the past, or ectopic pregnancy, or are overly concerned then you do. Most women have one at 12 and one around 20 weeks, (tho some don't even get one at 12). xx

chocciedooby · 24/10/2008 09:48

Morning all
Bobswendy I live in Dublin and am due to have DC3 here. Also had other 2 in Dublin. Which hospital were you in? Regarding NY I think it depends on how you feel. I would love to go to NY now even though I feel quite nauseous today but how will you cope with the hen?? You could go along and enjoy the shopping and indulge
in some pampering I flew to NY when I was 5 weeks pg with DS1. Everything was fine.I was more scared of slipping in the snow at the time!
MrsMcJnr my tooth is great thanks Great news about your scan.Glad to hear I'm not the only grease blob head around

flynn1984 · 24/10/2008 10:23

bobswendy I love Dublin, esp at Christmas time! I am going there at end of november for my Christmas shopping :D
Nothing beats walking up Grafton Street at Christmas time and stopping into Bewleys for a cup of tea!
Sorry if this isn't helping your home sickness any!

DawnoftheDead · 24/10/2008 11:18

Morning ladies,

Bobswendy, my Dad used to work for the Bristol and West Building Society and then they were bought by the Bank of Ireland so my Dad was based in their Head Office in Dublin for 2 years. They rented a flat for him there and if I'd have known how beautiful Dublin was, I'd have made more use of it. As it was, I only went over there for one weekend just before he left the company but found it absolutely beautiful!! We went to Temple Bar (I think that's what the area's called) and went to an American Theme bar for dinner (is it Thunderoad or Thunderbird - something like that...), loved it!!

Hope everyone is Ok today. I have a question about symptoms again... I'm not suffering any mood swings at all. In fact my mood is the same as it always is (fairly good - ), is that really abnormal? All the books say that I should be having mood-swings! I'm also getting a bit of lower back pain today aswell, of course I could have just slept funny, but could that be a normal symptom at just 7 weeks?

Any help gratefully received ladies - !!

xxx

Tee2072 · 24/10/2008 11:35

Dawn, I think things that tell you what symptoms you should have should be taken with a grain of salt. If you're not moody yet, enjoy it! Every woman is different!

In fact, if anyone is looking for a really good book about pregnancy, What To Expect When You're Expecting is excellent and is written in such a way as to present what might happen, not that it is definitely going to happen!

In other news, totally starved today. I had three breakfasts! Porridge at 6am, crackers and cheese at 7:30a, more crackers and cheese and an apple at 9:30am! And I'm thinking about lunch already!

Also, called the doctor. I am officially 100% pregnant. I knew I was, thanks to peeing on two different sticks, but its nice to have it official!

mica23 · 24/10/2008 11:47

hi everyone, just cant keep up with the posts!
Just quickly does any of ypou have kindo of times when hart would give couple of stronger beats then go back to normal?Im not really woried but its starting to get annoying!
As for all your poor ladies with MS, I know its not much of comfort but it will pass..
All first time mums; your task is to get hold of that book you always wanted to read and get on with it while you can..Before DD1 I used to read A LOT.Now I think I have been trying to read same book for the past 6 months. Its more than fair trade but be prepared..

Diege · 24/10/2008 12:23

Afternoon! Great news MRSMCJNR - that must be a tremendous relief .
Yesterday's toast hasn't worked for sickness, so am now trying mash. Postman has just delivered my preggie pop drops and an aromatherapy roll-on stick that's supposed to be sniffed frequently...just smells like chewing gum to me but I'll give it a go..
At least the sickness (for those of us suffering) should be on its way out by Xmas! Not sure if that makes it sound better or worse!

BobsWendy · 24/10/2008 12:50

ah all this talk of Dublin...... poor me

Today the nauseau has really hit me! I feel dire. Had a crappy nights sleep though and think the tiredness helps it along! I've plonked the other two monkeys in front of the tv, bold mommy me!

mica23 · 24/10/2008 12:57

Has the dreams sarted yet for any of you?
