rrrayray · 29/09/2008 11:14

tink Ditto....Beanie (we have changed it to beanie- apparently Bean sounded like a boy, which we now know she isnt!!) feels like trying to break free. But i'm not surprised really, did everyone not think at their 20 weeek scan that they didn't look like they had much room even then? Poor beanie was so cramped with legs (beautiful long legs too) acrobatically up by face!!!!!

fymandbean relieved for you that the beans have been spilt!!

looseyC Thank goodness for only having a sprained thumb. you can bet he'll milk it for every moment though! Nurse Looseyc!

moosemama & missj Hoping you both feel better soon!!!!!

MsSparkle · 29/09/2008 11:43

Tink yes, mine feels like it's going to escape! I lay there and watch as my belly moves about!

I see the midwife on Wednesday. It feels like ages ago that i last saw her. I am getting fed up because i can't walk far anymore without getting a stitch like pain and feeling really tired for the whole day afterwards.

fourlittlefeet · 29/09/2008 11:54

great to hear of healthy babies and congrats on the pink and the blue... how exciting!

I was putting on far too much weight so have upped my exercise quotient. Feeling much better for it, less hungry, less tired and sleeping better too. fab. now just have to wait and see if it stops the pounds piling on . did the eat what you like last pregancy and put on so much I still hadn't lost it all 11 months later, so this time want to be a skinny (ish) bump.

MsSparkle · 29/09/2008 11:59

I wieghed myself the other day! I thought as i am 6 months gone, i will see what i wiegh and i have put on 18 pounds which doesn't seem alot to me? I was 9st now i am 10st 4.

rrrayray · 29/09/2008 12:08

MsSparkle - it really varies from woman to woman what it optimum to put on. I read somewhere the other day that the ideal is 21 pounds. But how there can be an ideal when we're all different shapes and sizes, is beyond me!?!?! I think they say all depends on your pre pregnancy weight. someone underweight at conception will need to gain MORE than "the average" than someone who was overweight to begin with. I felt like i havent seen the midwife for Ages either!

Four little feet- i wish i could do more exercise, i just get SO tired. i was a real gym bunny before i got pregnant, but spending the first 3 months with legs wrapped around u bend and head down toilet meant that i couldn't pick up where i left off. ALthough, very proud, i went for a FOUR mile walk yesterday in the beautiful sunshine- my feet were killer by the time i got home though. Trying to swim a bit, but i'm not really a water baby and can't say i enjoy swimming that much.

Forgot to say before. at my 20 week scan, they couldnt seen the placenta connection bit properly to check whether it was low lying or not. So booked in for a 36 week Scan to check it. I know this is protocol, but wondered if anyone else had this in previous pregnancies/ this one. From my early pregnancy reading i know if its too low, they wont allow me to birth naturally. Not thinking about it TOO much, but hoping not the case!! Strangely, my mum said she had to have the same thing with both me AND my sister, and in both cases it was fine & she gave birth naturally.

Wow, i have waffled. Sorry ladies!

MsSparkle · 29/09/2008 12:13

With all the chocolate i eat, i would have thought i would have put on more wieght...

rrrayray · 29/09/2008 12:37

Your bubba is obviously also fond of Chocolate and gobbling it up

istinkhavingaboyoragirl · 29/09/2008 13:38

any thoughts ladies am i going to have a blue flavour or a pink?

rrrayray · 29/09/2008 14:25

I'm split.... whatever you think it is.... Then i'll say the opposite.

i would have put silly amounts of money on Beanie being a BOY!!

4 days & counting (today is almost done, and Saturday is the day itself!) What time of day is your scan? I hope your Baby is more co-operative. Beanie had her legs crossed for AGES, they had to send me for a walk to try and uncross them.

mumfor1standmaybe2ndtime · 29/09/2008 14:48

Hello! Can I join the list please? I am due on 22nd Jan with 2nd baby.

I am planning an elective c section as I had an emergency one with ds due to high blood pressure/undiagnosed breech, distressed baby. So will be having baby (probably!) the week before.

So far the pregnancy is going well, we don't know the sex. Dh is convinced it will be a girl, I am not so sure lol!

MsSparkle · 29/09/2008 15:34

mumfor1standmaybe2ndtime welcome

Tink i reckon a boy

istinkhavingaboyoragirl · 29/09/2008 16:13

scan is @ 10am so nice and early is in portsmouth so will be leaving here @ 8:45am so nice and early.
hope this one doesnt have legs crossed had legs crossed entire 20 week scan didnt uncross them for a second

fourlittlefeet · 29/09/2008 19:36

the weight thing is really interesting. i know it shouldn't matter, but it does to me! I would never restrict my calories, (well, maybe that second piece of cake!) but I have found that my appetite is conpletely disproportionate to what I need. First time round I did the whole 'I believe what my body tells me it needs' thing. And I put on a whopping 66 pounds. This time I was hoping to keep it to 20 pounds, which may sound very little, but I still had weight left over. Everyone I know who tried to get their figure back quickly last time had to stop breastfeeding as they weren't producing enough milk so I'd rather keep smaller during pregnancy and then be able to eat what I want while breastfeeding without feeling like a heifer!

sorry, bit of rant there but I'm really worried that I'm heading the same way as last time and there is no way I'd eat much less. The exercise thing is a bit easier for me as I have equipment at home which I bought so I could use it when DD slept as there was no way I could afford the time or money for a gym! Its paid itself back several times over as I love using it and it makes me feel great.

hello m1m2!

mumfor1standmaybe2ndtime · 29/09/2008 21:26

Hi!
Nice to see so many others who are due in Jan! It is weird that this baby is due in Jan and so was ds, must be something about that time of year for us, or maybe it's because I don't want to be at work for xmas lol!
Know what you mean about the 'weight' thing fourlittlefeet - I put on a lot of weight with ds, I think about 3 stone, I was a size 8-10 and by the time I was finished I was a size 16. I got back to a size 10, mainly through walking and when I went back to work it helped me lose the excess! I am now 24 weeks pg and have gained almost a stone, not sure if this is good or not, but I don't feel as big as last time. I think having a toddler helps though as I am always busy with ds (my 1st child) and when I was pg with ds in third trimester I was very afraid to go anywhere by myself! Daft. So I cooped myself up in the house. I vow not to do that this time and to get out and about.

LenniEd · 29/09/2008 21:48

Just stopping in to say hello so that the thread shows up so I can catch up later. Back from long weekend away so going to need a good couple of hours to get through everything! Spink - clothes swap sounds good, and definately a good idea to wait until they arrive! Congrats FYM and ray on your little boy and little girl. Lovely to know isn't it.

Ginni · 29/09/2008 22:46

hi everyone, i've just rediscovered e-bay, i've gone abit mad buying baby clothes bundles and have probably got far more than I can use, all for about £20! Also bought a bedside cot so am going to order a natural mattress, and a new Ambi too for good measure. Still not decided on which pram to get, i'm thinking of the Graco Traveller but when I see mothers and babies in their funky expensive prams I wonder if I should just buy something better looking.

Baby is kicking me, especially if I get hungry or thirsty, it's like she is telling me to eat or drink!

I'm feeling better than I have done previously in this pregnancy, bizarrely as I know the second trimester is supposed to be the feel-good one. However, I have developed crusty, achy nipples which is quite worrying (I've started a post about this in Pregnancy) - anyone else experienced this?

chefswife · 30/09/2008 01:49

welcome munfor1

i can't imagine my tummy getting any bigger. i feel like i'm ready to pop already. i look at it before going to bed and simply cannot imagine it getting bigger. and yet we still have 3+ months left! oh my god.

she nestles in the crevices when i'm sleeping then hoofs lots. have to keep shoving her around.

has anyone looked into horoscopes of capricorn... i think it goes till mid january. i'm wonder how will DH, a leo, and me, a virgo, is going to cope with a capricorn kid. she'll be a banker or analysist or something.

Shanster · 30/09/2008 02:59

hey Chefswife, I wouldn't take this seriously but I thought the baby horoscope thing on baby center was fun -

www.babycenter.com/horoscopes?intcmp=Nav_Global_calandcalc_horoscopes&pn=BC%20Homepage

I am a typical Capricorn, and I am looking forward to me an baby ganging up on my poor Pieces husband!!

chefswife · 30/09/2008 03:34

i checked that out. i like the entertainment value of horoscopes. i have a dear friend that is capricorn and she is a ancient genetics archaeologist. we get along great. there are times when those astrological signs characteristics seem so very true and we can say that about our friendship. will be interesting to see how Violet turns out.

istinkhavingaboyoragirl · 30/09/2008 08:52

morning

i luv horoscopes i am a gemini and it is so true for my personality.

Jokat · 30/09/2008 10:36

Hi all,

I've just been told that in Germany, every pregnant woman is offered a test to see whether she is immune to toxoplasmosis (transmitted by cats, raw meat etc.). I have never heard of such a test in England. Have you?
Also, I know I asked before but didn't get any response: Has anyone else not sorted out their antenatal course until very recently but has still managed to get on one?

Periwink · 30/09/2008 14:29

Ginni - yes I also have the crusty, extremely painful nipple thing going on, especially when it is a little cold outside my nipple ache like mad - feels like they are being burnt, how are we going to survive the winter?

I love the whole horoscope thing too - every capricorn I know is just wonderful!

rrrayray · 30/09/2008 15:07

Not into horoscope thingie at all. just never have been.

jokat, afraid as a first-timer who has been a busy been & got her NCT courses booked, can't really help you.

Been feeling very queasy the past 2 days. Praying sickness is not returning. I was so miserable & just beginning to feel human again

Chefswife, its so funny how some of us carry differently and some show so much sooner than others. i am just beginning to learn this as a first timer. You sounds like you have done most of your growing and tum wont get much bigger, where as my tum as only JUST popped into a little bump & sometimes i wonder where/how there is a baby in there- despite everything being perfect at a scan.

Is anyone else fed up of people telling them they are small (or large if thats the case) for their dates? Everyone has an opinion on how you should be, don't they??

Luckily- people havent started prodding my belly yet. i don't think i'm going to be too happy with strangers/people who arent GOOD friends touching my belly????? Hope i don't offend anyone TOO much

mumfor1standmaybe2ndtime · 30/09/2008 16:04

Chefswife, Hi!
Yes I have also had the sore crusty nipple thing lol! Don't remember having that with ds. But I guess some things you just blank out!
Had crap morning at work today, got emotional with my manager (who is lovely, bless her) and said I am struggling with my job as I am now starting to get back pain and just feel so useless in my job. Left off work feeling like an over emotional plonker! Have decided to leave work earlier than I thought I would. Just sitting here now working out dates to leave!
