hello!!!!
I've done it....

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
HeathersMummy · 21/10/2008 13:44

Hope you're feeling better soon ray.
MM, so sorry to hear about the probs with your pram.
I'm just back from the hospital - had GTT testing and 30 week scan!! Yes, really 30 weeks gone already
GTT results have come back as normal, which I'm really pleased about. Been trying to tell them for ages, just because I'm heavy does not mean I sit in the house and stuff my face with cakes all day. Well, maybe Double Deckers at the moment , but I've only put on 2 pounds so far, so I can't be doing too bad!
Scan went well, I now have 2 large fibroids, but as they are tucked out the way of my uterus the Doc says there is no reason why I shouldn't have a normal labour and delivery . Baby looked gorgeous in scan, could clearly see face and it gave us a wee wave. They've estimated weight at 4lbs 1oz already - looks like I'm baking another whopper DD was 8lb 13oz. Good to get the peace of mind though.
I'm off to enjoy the novelty of not being at work on a Tuesday. Keep well everyone and take care x

moosemama · 21/10/2008 14:43

HeathersMummy, great news about the normal GTT test and the lovely scan.

Mmmmmm Double Deckers!

tinkisgoingtohaveapumpkin · 21/10/2008 17:17

heathersm - gr8 news on scan

i am 28 weeks on thursday cant believe it

rrrayray · 21/10/2008 18:51

heathersmummy- bizare that your 30 weeks already, sounds so far ahead of me, i guess beginning of jan and end (like me) are quite some time apart.

I have a sneaky feeling i'll have a February baby, being all my friends with a first baby have gone over due... although everyone keeps telling me they think i'll be early! Ah, we'll see when is Beanie's time to come!

HeathersMummy · 21/10/2008 19:51

I know, I can't believe I'm 30 weeks either , although I've got a bump to prove it . My original EDD was 4th Jan, but they moved it to 31st Dec, so I'm cheating a wee bit being on this thread. But I was settled in and didn't want to leave .
My first was 10 days overdue - I went into spontaneous labour the day I was due to be induced. I was hoping to go early this time, but doc says not to count on it - here was me hoping to have it all over and done with before Christmas. The only thing stuffed in this house on Christmas day should be the turkey

rrrayray · 21/10/2008 22:21

Heathersmummy- i'm just hoping i dont come SO early that i DO come intime for Xmas(not due until 20th) i think i would rather be the fat turkey then trying to get to grips with a newborn firs time around!

Did i misread your post or have you only put on 2 pounds? how have you managed that when she/he is already over 4 pounds?? I've put on about 10 + kg from about week 13, but that said, at week 13 i was underweight from being So so so sick, My BMI was 15.8 so i'll be expected to gain more than "Average."

Although this whole "Average" weight gain thing is absurd.... it just leaves some women worrying they've put on too much or too little weight just purely depending on how they carry their pregnancy - more/less fluid, maternal fat... etc.. Blah blah to Average!!!! ...where did THAT come from!!

rrrayray · 21/10/2008 22:37

...also, just seen Due in feb 09 have started their own Facebook Group.

Do any of you ladies have facebook & fancy doing so... Could be easier to share bump pictures....

Talking of bump pictures i really should start taking a record of my little bump growing!!

elkiedee · 21/10/2008 22:43

ray, I don't know about this time but in first pregnancy I only put on 4 lb between 12 and 40 weeks and ds was over 7 lb. My mum actually lost two stone in each pregnancy (sickness) and all 3 of her children were over 8 lb.

Heathersmummy, how long did it take to get your gtt results? Should I assume it's a good sign that I've heard nothing after 2 weeks? I had the test only on grounds of weight as well, there's no family history so I'm hopeful (I would prefer to avoid induction and the things which go with that if I can).

elkiedee · 21/10/2008 22:45

ray, I was wondering about that too. I've joined that group partly because one of them was going through a lot of the same things as me a few weeks ago with testing worries.

rrrayray · 21/10/2008 23:02

thats interesting to hear elkiedee - just reinforces what i said about there being "average" weight gains. I have to say, despite my moaning, i havent been weighed since my Booking in appointment.

Well maybe i shall Start up a facebook Group for us 2009 january Ladies.... xx

rrrayray · 21/10/2008 23:11

www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=41204527891 Done!!

elkiedee · 21/10/2008 23:12

Have you joined the mumsnet group? (that's anyone on mumsnet, not just birth month groups).

HeathersMummy · 22/10/2008 09:47

Morning
I don't have facebook - bummer
Yes rray, you read correctly, I've only put on 2 pounds. I'm overweight tho (a size 20 ) and my BMI is way higher than yours. I lost a couple of dress sizes the last time I was pregnant, I just didn't manage to keep it off - I'm determined to get out walking with the pram after this wee one is born. The weight defo has to go [determined emoticon].
Elkie, the hospital phoned me with my GTT results 1 hour after my final blood test. They said it would take 5 hours for the results. If you've not heard anything for 2 weeks I would assume you've got the all clear - why not give them a quick call if you're worried? I'm sure they would've had you whipped in to all the diabetes clinics pronto if anything had come up though - looks like no news is good news

moosemama · 22/10/2008 09:54

Stripey, referring to the restless legs thread, my little experiment seemed to work.

Had my dose of Floradix, a glass of milk and ate a small banana and had a much better night's sleep with hardly any of the restless legs business!

Like I said on the other thread, could have been the placebo effect, but will definitely be trying it again tonight!

tinkisgoingtohaveapumpkin · 22/10/2008 13:23

i have joined thanks rray

rrrayray · 22/10/2008 17:12

bugger- i just wrote a long post & managed to make it Vanish. Bum!

Heathersmummy - Don't blush at being a size 20, i'm sure you look fantastic. Sizing is WAY off these days anyway, i varying several sizes between some shops. 2 pounds- thats fantastic (well provided baby is well and your not starving yourself MRS! )

Had a bit of a hormonal outburst earlier, found myself having a heart to heart with OH (hes had today off which was lovely) and in floods of tears about silly little things. Anyway, i feel much better for it now!!

our Demo CD from the harpist we are thinking about booking for our wedding arrived today, so i have been listening to that tinkling away this afternoon. Shes amazing! Those of you who have already married- Did any of you have a harpist at your wedding? i'm thinking of having the harpist for the arrival of the guests, then the entrance of moi, the signing of the register and our exit. like i said, she really is Good! I'm trying to get the big things booked before Beanie arrives (venue already booked! woo!), so i can relax and not be trying to do things when she is dinky, just enjoy being a mummy!!

yay for those of you on the facebook thingie. Elkie is the only one to have revealed herself, i'm afraid i'm guessing at who the rest of you are!!! Rrrayray is for Rachel - my Sister and some of my friends have always called me Ray, so its sort of my nickname & username for things! Someone from the party at the weekend has tagged me in the amazing preggy hiding dress i was telling you about. i don't think i would even know i was pregnant if i was someone else!! (apart from the bump touching from time to time!) I mean i look a bit wider ( i naturally have quite a small frame) I'm not even sure how it happened, its not a pregnancy dress, its just from urban outfitters, but looking down now and see Miss bump - shes there alright & i've just Whoofled down TWO baguette sandwiches... the first one didn't even touch the sides!

tinkisgoingtohaveapumpkin · 22/10/2008 17:20

hi rray

i will add you as a frined on facebook in a min

we had a harpist @ our wedding was fantastic she played during register signing and during break before meal definetly worth it

rrrayray · 22/10/2008 17:24

ahh...lovely to hear someone else who has had one. a few of my friends have pulled a face like its cheesy or something! Screw them.. i'm only marrying once, its my big day... i'll do as i please!!

I wont ask you how much you spent on your harpist, but for what i've mentioned above, the whole ceremony & 30 mins while guest arrive before the lady charges £220... Do you think that is pretty reasonable? OH seems pretty happy with it. Him & my father are splitting the wedding finances.

tinkisgoingtohaveapumpkin · 22/10/2008 17:26

ye that sounds about right for harpist sure that i what we paid
have just added u as a friend on facebook

MsSparkle · 22/10/2008 17:29

I have felt like crap today. I think i strained my tummy last night lifting dd out the car.

I have just felt tired with no energy whats so ever, woozy and sick. Spent most of the morning in bed but that didn't seem to make much difference and underneath my bump it feels like it's being pulled. The feeling inside feels like constipation but i am not constipated. Tried to phone my midwife but her phone was switched off. Does anyone know what this could be?

moosemama · 22/10/2008 17:50

3 thoughts off the top of my head MsSparkle:

  1. There are an awful lot of tummy bugs going around, you could be coming down with something.
  1. You could well have pulled one of the ligaments under your bump lifting your dd. Have you tried a warm bath, if it is your ligaments that might help give you some relief. (Sorry can't remember how many weeks you are, but was just reading this morning that at around 28-30 weeks stretching pains under the bump plus hip and back pain are more common as the baby is gaining weight more rapidly.)
  1. My little one is still turning somersaults, head down one day, feet the next. When she is head down she feels so heavy and puts a lot of pressure on my bowel, maybe you are getting a similar feeling?

Actually 4 thoughts:

  1. Could be a combination of one or all of the above.

Little one keeps getting major bouts of hiccoughs (hiccups sp?). She seems to do it every night just as I lie down to fall asleep. Had DH in stitches last night as they were so strong (he'd been out to the pub with his mate and had all of one pint, so for him he was quite tipsy!) I have read that this is a good sign though as it means she is testing out her breathing and swallowing reflexes.

Midwife tomorrow, haven't had my 28 wk bloods done yet and will be 30 wks next Saturday. My fault though, had to cancel the appointment as Mum had a double knee operation at short notice and couldn't pick up the boys from school. Hopefully DH will be able to stay and not rush back to work after dropping me off, he hasn't heard the heartbeat yet and I know that's something he always enjoyed with the other two.

HeathersMummy · 22/10/2008 17:55

rray you've cheered me up with your kind words - thank you
I didn't have any musicians at my wedding - we just played some music we liked on the venues sound system and I thought it was great. Then I went to my brothers wedding a few weeks ago and they have a string quartet - it was fabulous, put my music to shame. I say, go for it with the harpist - she will be wonderful and it will be a talking point amongst your guests
Ms Sparkle, sorry you're not feeling well, try to rest as much as you can until you can talk to your midwife. You've maybe pulled a muscle in your tummy - everything feels sorer than it normally would when the muscles are being stretched to oblivion already.

MsSparkle · 22/10/2008 18:23

Thanks you guys. moosemama i am 30 weeks now. It's reasuring that i have felt the baby kicking a moving all day, more than normal actually. Good luck with the midwife

rrrayray · 22/10/2008 18:31

MsSparkle- When i was ill on Monday/yesterday i had the Constipated/bloated thing going on... but i Wasn't... infact quite the opposite, sorry for too much info maybe (hey we're all pregnant, we're all getting the lovely things) it was coming out BOTH ends, yet i still felt like a lead balloon around the middle.

My best guess would be like moosemama said, a combination of a few things. Def Take it easy like you said you are.

moosemama- my Back ache has got Awful the past few days, i think partly due to the aches of whatever bug i had, but still....Ouch! A nice warm bath seems to help alot.

Has anyone had or been having a pregnancy massage at all? Was thinking in a few weeks of treating myself to one. Not sure if to have a specialised pregnancy massage, or the Aveda salon i have my legs waxed at will tailor any massage to be suitable for us pregnant ones!! Hmm...

Ohh String Quartet Sounds lovely Heathers mummy, i think we're having a jazz Band for the evening entertainment. As i don't think i want a "disco" as such, but i fancy something a bit funky. i've found a jazz band who will do a real mixture of Classics which everyone knows & will enjoy dancing to rather sloshed but then some up to date chart stuff, but then in their jazz style. On their website they do a Demo of Beyonce Knowles (sp) "Crazy in Love" and it sounds Amazing with their jazz vibe going on!!!

Here i am on our Antenatal thread whittering on about my Wedding! :-D Silly me...

MsSparkle · 22/10/2008 18:38

Ooh rrrayray i jazz band sounds like a great idea. The disco thing can be really rubbish and a jazz band sounds way more classy!
