hello!!!!
I've done it....

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MissHairspray · 19/10/2008 12:11

Morning ladies, I really want a glider too - they were about £300 in John Lewis but found a site called mum2b or something where they are only £80 with free footstool - no idea whether they are as good quality but given that we don't have the option of paying £300 it doesn't really matter.
Just had a little cry because boiler seems to have packed in and with the whole house being painted it is final straw. I can appreciate why dh laughed at me though - I mean there he is, up from 7.30, on his hands and knees scrubbing paint off the floor and i'm crying because I can't have a hot bath. I need some perspective!!
On the plus side our nursery is now pretty much finished and it looks absolutely lovely so I might just go and camp out there for a couple of days.

moosemama · 19/10/2008 12:44

Miss H, you sound like me the other day! lol. Our house is like a cross between a building site and a disaster zone at the moment. I know it will all be worth it when its finished, but living through the chaos is awful.

Our boiler, currently sited in a cupboard in our bedroom, makes a noise like an old tractor and seems to make up its own mind what temperature the house should be regardless of what the thermostat is reading. It also only allows us to have a trickle of hot water interspersed by lots of coughing and spluttering from the tap - it takes anything up to an hour to run a bath! We are having it replaced and moved downstairs in a couple of weeks though, so at least we will have a warm house and peaceful bedroom before the baby comes along.

You have my sympathy, when you are pg and feel like you need a hot bath - you really do NEED a hot bath - I would be in tears as well.

Btw our glider wasn't an expensive Dutailer (sp) one, it's made by Hauck and cost half what they cost. We really need to look into having the cushions covered now though (nearly 5 years on) as they are light beige and in a house with 2 boys and three dogs that's not a good colour to be! That said they always look fine after a spin in the the washing machine and tumble drier.

I've been hiding in our bedroom all weekend as DH is sanding and repairing the living room ceiling and is paranoid about me breathing in the dust! He is in a foul mood cos he hates DIY with a vengance so I'm probably safer in here tbh.

Nursery decoration is on the back-burner again after we decided the living room and our room had to come first due to home-birth and baby being in with us to start with. Oh, and the fact that DHs record decs and all his LPs (and believe me there's a lot of them) need to be moved out of the ex-study and into the living room before we actually have a nursery to decorate!

I think half of my wobbly last week was down to the fact that I was apparently coming down with yet another stinking cold! Don't know where this one came from, the kids haven't had it. The only thing I can think is that I have been to two school assemblies in the last fortnight and it is always unbearably hot in that hall - perfect for germination amongst all those squashed in kiddies and parents.

tinkisgoingtohaveapumpkin · 19/10/2008 16:44

miss h - hope that boiler gets sorted

mm - poor you with another cold

we had a rocking chair glider with dd is in garage now as isnt enough room with her sharing with baby
was £130 from argos

superkat · 19/10/2008 19:43

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to let anyone planning a home birth know that we have a competition on Mama to be Goodies to win a birthing pool. Follow this link: www.mamatobegoodies.co.uk/win-la-bassine-birthing-pool-essentials-kit/

Cheers,

elkiedee · 19/10/2008 23:05

Hi all

I'd forgotten how annoying it is to be unable to sleep through the night - not because of being woken by ds though we get that as well but because I wake up feeling really uncomfortable several times a night. Then I fall asleep on the sofa when I'd intended to do other things...

Hope all's well with you all.

moosemama · 20/10/2008 13:41

Hi

Had a bit of a panic this morning when I realised my 'cold' had given me 2 very bright red cheeks, as if I had been slapped!

First thought, Slapped Cheek/Fifths Disease/Parvovirus B19. So have been googling for ages and feel a bit more reassured now as everything seems to say there is only a risk to the baby if you are 20wks or less and I am 29+2.

Was going to call the mw for advice. But have an appointment on Thursday and am having bloods done at that one anyway so if they want to check my immunity status they'll probably just add it to the test list.

Actually, am probably panicking about nothing, DH just came home for lunch and said I have a very hot head which probably explains the red cheeks. Have just taken some paracetamol to bring my temperature down and will be interested to see if the 'rash' disappears.

Have been curled up in bed reading and googling this morning as felt to bleuggh to do anything else and the living room is still half decorated.

Am now going to drag my lazy carcass out of bed and have a bath so that I can crawl to the school and pick up the boys. Roll on half-term!

ps I need chocolate - purely medicinal you understand! Wonder if I can make it to the corner shop before I go to the school?

VASTlargeginandbloodymary · 20/10/2008 14:04

Don't mention chocolate, which fool was it that bought Wispas back while i am pregnant? I mean fgs, i will be the size of a four bed detatched by the time she arrives.

We had a sexing and growth scan on Friday, it is deffo a girl. We just wanted to check as she kept her legs firmly crossed at the 20 weeks scan. The girl looks HUGE, she had a chubby little face

Glad the rash is improving MissJ, about time!

Stripey good luck with the car hunt, we are going to need to up our seats too, the 8 seater is FULL

Moose i panicked a few weeks ago when ds had Hand Foot and Mouth, it is only bad if you get it under 12 weeks and only quite bad if you get it under 20 weeks. At the time i was 24 weeks i think. I saw the Doc and he phoned the Consultant Obstetrician at the hospital just to check. I am sure Slap Cheek is fine, you probably just have a cold and temp. Rest up!

Rrray snug clothes do look better, sometimes you just need to slob out though

Chefswife glad the London trip was great, love Steiff bears What buggy are you looking at getting?

I have just bought one of these and dh is currently touching it up. I will have girl in pram, Beau on top and 3 year old laying in basket underneath, this is what i had when i had the twins (age 3) dd 18months and ds#3 new baby. They are fab!

I will be getting a Jane powertwin for the car. Love ebay!

Tink you are so organised, i will be dragging baby toys out the cupboard from years gone by I have a few outfits now, well babygros anyway. She should just be lucky she wont be dressed in blue

Elkie i am begining to dread the nights... no amount of wedge pilows are helping I wake up shattered!

Must go and eat lunch before the next school run, half a packet of McVities digestives is not a healthy breakfast...

moosemama · 20/10/2008 14:55

Ok so walking to the shop was bad idea. Walked in, picked up cake for boys, maltesers for me, walked to till and promptly fainted!

How embarassing!

Everyone was very nice though - poor lady on the checkout looked like she thought I was going to die!

Have to do school run now, will go very slowly and have fortified myself with a glass of milk, cookie and some floradix.

Its days like this I really appreciate living so close to the school.

fourlittlefeet · 20/10/2008 15:29

Elkie I'm having those funny wakeful periods at night too; had forgotton about them...

I had hand foot and mouth at 19 weeks...am going to ask doctor about it grr

Just sold my Loola and bought myself a sensible maclaren.

Went to baby show and managed not to spend loads... bumpto3 have got some money off their greenbaby clothing if anyone is interested, and theres a BS08 post show code offer for 20% off.

tinkisgoingtohaveapumpkin · 20/10/2008 17:53

i have been eating too many wispas 2

moosemama · 20/10/2008 18:01

Nah, wispas don't do it for me - double deckers every time.

moosemama · 20/10/2008 18:07

vlg&t lucky you with the beautiful coach built pram. Would really love one, unfortunately they are bigger than our house so it'll never happen.

Used to see proud Mums pushing them along the front at Lytham when we lived up there and was so envious (I had a MacLaren Techno XT).

MissHairspray · 20/10/2008 18:47

ooh those traditional prams are so lovely am v.jealous.
Sorry about the fainting and cold moosey, you must be pretty fed up.
Do anyone elses ribs just ache sometimes? Mine have been all day I think it must just be the extra weight i'm carrying around. I think I need to stick my bump in a sling or something. Sleep is also a bit tricky for me too, i'm trying to be good and sleep on my side but I keep waking up with whatever bum cheek i'm lying on aching. Again must be all of that extra weight. Ugh. I can't believe that some of you still look barely pg!
Enjoy your night ladies, i'm off to scoff mince and dumplings.

stripeywoollenhat · 20/10/2008 19:12

never really got the wispa thing, but am currently going through an m&s mint truffle choc bars phase....

just bought some newborn reusable nappies - these: Imse Vimse NEWBORN Organic BRUSHED cotton Contour nappy. along with wraps and boosters and so on - wow, expensive. think we are going to mix and match with disposables, and will buy more reusables when she is a bit bigger. i think i might be getting towards the nesting end of things now, i've been waking up with lists of things to do in my head...

moosemama · 20/10/2008 19:18

Thanks MissH.

Well aren't I having a fantastic day.

Just found out the people we bought the puschair off were scam artists and the whole story broke just after we placed our order.

Luckily, we bought via their website but paid through paypal so should get a full refund.

I feel like such an idiot. I did as much research as I could about them before we ordered but obviously that wasn't enough. Apparently hundreds of people have been scammed.

Am both and at the same time to think that there are such horrible people out there that do this sort of thing and also that I'm not going to be receiving my shiny new buggy any day now.

Apparently they have been reported to ebay, paypal and the police, but not been caught. They sold nearly £14,000 worth of pushchairs in less than 30 days on ebay alone!

So if you know anybody who was thinking about buying from www.discountbuggies.co.uk (yes, their website is still up and running!) please warn them not to.

stripeywoollenhat · 20/10/2008 20:02

moosemama
but at least you will get your money back and you'll have time to find another buggy

LooseyC · 20/10/2008 21:36

Hello everyone, we've been doing a bit of travelling recently so haven't been posting but hope everyone is doing well (can't read all the posts right now as should be packing to go away again! Basically doing it while I can still waddle around....)

The baby countdown clock on our fridge now says 94 days - eeek! Seems a bit close now. We didn't buy the thing it was a present but now it just scares me!

But despite being MASSIVE I love this bit as can now really feel this little one moving around loads - took a while for me despite this being no.2 - which is really nice. And DS is teething so it's not the kicking keeping me up!

Periwink · 21/10/2008 03:20

Hi everyone, hope everyone is well. As you can see by the time I am writing this - that obviously I am having trouble with a full night sleep and wake up fretting about all the things I need to do (Christmas shopping, baby shopping, moving house ..... we move into our house end of Jnauary!!!!) Anyway will try to go back and get some more sleep soon.

Moosemama - cannot belive it regarding the buggie scam ...

Stripey - yum for the M&S mint truffle bars - heavenly, although luckily for the size of my belly our local M & S has stopped stocking them!!!

Periwink · 21/10/2008 03:20

Am thinking about buying a Babasling - anyone got one, used one?

tinkisgoingtohaveapumpkin · 21/10/2008 08:31

Morning,

Moosemama i am very for you. There really are some nasty people out there!

So much to catch up it seems. Glad everyone's babies are doing great. My friend had her 20 week scan yesterday, wanted to know the sex but it was on it's side so they gave her a 55% chance a girl and 45% chance a boy That would bug me to hell.

My baby has been moving about so much. I am poked and prodded so much now!

rrrayray · 21/10/2008 10:45

Miss Hairspray- that is the glider we got from mums2b... it comes to about £92 i think with courier delivery. The Glider comes in quite a few pieces is all i will warn, so you'll have to construct yourself... apart from that its lovely. They aren't glamorous looking things, but its so comfy. We definately need to get some baby bed linen, we have the nursery furntiure (cot bed, dresser, cupboard)and now the rocking chair... so its all very wooden and Adult looking!

Have been suffering yesterday, feeling SLIGHTLY better today. have some kind of sicky bug thing... was sick (and the other end, sorry!) all yesterday & stupidly Achey... but then last night it was my lower back and tummy... like period pain used to be... and i know i'm being OTT but i could help thinking about the things i'd read about people having that sort of pain and not realise it was early labour. My little Beanie isn't ready yet! i was Worried worried.... But OH spoke to our Doctor who said it was gastronentisis (sp) and i just need to rest. Thank goodness the back ache / period pain style stuff as gone today, but i still feel dog rough! Been so worried about little her, but luckily she has been kicking away to let me know shes OK!!

moosemama- Gutting about Scam. Thank goodness for paypal.

funny about Wispas- I dont think i've ever had one in my Life... but OH loves them, they must have been out before my Chocolate eating time!!

moosemama · 21/10/2008 11:25

Poor you Ray, there seems to be a lot of d&v bugs going around at the moment. I think it often hurts/cramps more when you're pregnant as the baby is already squashing everything up. Hope you are feeling better soon.

I've still got a temperature and definitely won't be attemtping the corner shop run today. DH has been lovely and made a veg stew ready for tea tonight, so I can just rest until its time to get the boys, then I only have to get their after school snack and do their homework with them.

Have to say though, I am really bored being ill and doing nothing, seems to have been going on forever with hardly any respite in between. Its so frustrating when there's a million and one things I'd like to be getting on with but head definitely swims when I stand at the moment and don't want to faint again so having to be sensible.

rrrayray · 21/10/2008 13:24

moosemama, i know what you mean about being ill but being bored. your body is like noooo i'm dying, yet your brain is so stinking bored doing nothing. OH is home today as has evening match, so is taking care of moi. Lovely. Shame he wouldn't know how to make a stew, or should i say, you wouldn't want to eat it!

Hope everyone else is well, Glad to be tucked up inside today... its Brrr out there.
