Summer - one of mine leaked a bit of neon yellow stuff one Saturday morning - I presume colostrum. Whoa.

Beans33 · 10/09/2008 15:33

Hello Emma - welcome!

You've joined in gory booby chat! Mine aren't leaking either, kmp - but they are definitely more bobbly - got all sorts of little tags on my nipples. Not very attractive. And I get the odd spot on them as well, which I can squeeze a bit. Gross. Sorry if TMI.

Purple79 · 10/09/2008 15:35

Hi emmanbump welcome. And Nanii which i forgot to mention. (a couple of pages back)
Yep, don't want leaky nips myself.. lucky those of you which haven't

SummerLightning · 10/09/2008 15:36

Emma where do you live? And is it your first one? (being nosey!)

emmanbump · 10/09/2008 15:44

Summer I live in Epping, Essex. Yes it's my first one. Very exciting.

Luckily gory doesn't bother me. It's good to see people being open. No leaky boobs for me yet either (thankfully, could be messy for work).

hattyyellow · 10/09/2008 15:47

I want leaky boobs . Would make me feel all super-uber-earth-mother. Didn't get them last time either with two babies so probably not this time around either!

Welcome Emma and congrats on your pregnancy! It'll be an exciting New Year for you with your EDD!

Beans33 · 10/09/2008 15:53

I have some news too - I am not getting a linea nigra after all! I'm such a nit and so keen to look like a proper preggy woman that I think I must have hopefully imagined it! So wrong! Nothing there - I thought it was slowly developing, but it hasn't changed in the slightest since I thought I spotted it! Oh dear!!!

hattyyellow · 10/09/2008 15:59

Oh dear me. After studiously avoiding reading anything on the childbirth threads out of sheer denial, I just clicked on the funniest bits of childbirth thread.

Half of it made me cry laughing but I'm such a wimp that its also made me feel quite weak at the knees and wobbly at the thought of all that pain and chaos!

Maybe that section last time around wasn't so bad after all!

Please someone tell me that the hormones and adrenalin help you get through - I'm feeling a little nervous about how this baby's going to come out now!

Purple79 · 10/09/2008 16:01

Had docs appointment yesterday - everything fine. Had my bump measured for the 1st time and is dead on 26cm (im 26wks today).
Did ask about my leaky nips as they have cracked they've been a bit bleedy aswell, also 1 is flat and the other is slightly inverted, which DP cant resist taking the piss out of!! kill him!! But was worried about being able to BF, Doc said i should be fine with BF and nothing to worry about with the bleedy nips - its just them 'opening up'.

I did ask my mum about inverted nipples she said she had them before she had me and i was BF - Apparently they just 'popped out'? hopefully that'll happen with me...

Beans33 · 10/09/2008 16:03

ONe thing's for sure, we can't shut our legs and go into denial once the contractions start, hatty!!

I'm a little uncomfortable at the moment, because added to my cold, I've got a spot of squitty tummy as well. Yuck. Now, obviously, I've given myself the fear of listeria! Which clearly it isn't, but I'm such a weeeed! Silly girl.

LadyThompson · 10/09/2008 16:06

How long did it take you to recover from your section, Hatty? Though you had twinnies I know. Any other sections apart from me, Verso and...someone who has already got their date, my daffy brain won't call their name to mind. Can't help you with the other stuff but someone will be along in a minute.

hattyyellow · 10/09/2008 16:07

Purple and Beans you poor things- bleeding nipples and the squits aren't the most glamorous side effects of pregnancy are they!?

Maybe I can still pretend I'm not in labour when the contractions start.."Err, I've changed my mind! Me? In labour? No, you must have got the wrong person".

I'm such a wimp!

hattyyellow · 10/09/2008 16:10

LadyT I'm struggling to remember how long it took! Baby brain! I know I was fine to drive again at 6 weeks and I remember at about 4 weeks losing that delicate feeling, where I would get up and turn over really really slowly..

I got an infection in my scar at about 2 weeks, but I think that was from trying to haul two babies into place to breastfeed them as the scar tissue got so inflamed. Most people are fine and my scar healed fine after that.

In fact 3 years on it is hardly visible.

Must finish my work, am having such an energy slump and am trying to boost my tired body by eating lemon curd on oatcakes which is delish.

Olipop · 10/09/2008 16:11

Welcome ninii and emmanbump...
The pregnancy massage was an Elemis one at a local Amida Sports club. I also had a facial...spoiled..moi!?!?!?!?
Boobs aren't really doing anything particularly exciting although my DS's elbows seem to have a homing device for them. He keeps using them to push himself up and it is AGONY!
My friend had her second baby yesterday and I have just spoken to her on the phone. Baby cried from 9pm til 5am...she is not impressed! Her first son was a bit of an angel so it was a big shock!
Labour all went well though, very mild contractions and then ramped up for 45 minutes, 5 pushes and out with a mere graze!
Thats the way to do it!

hattyyellow · 10/09/2008 16:13

Olipop I'd like a labour like your friends please! Could you find out for me where I order it from please?

hiccymapops · 10/09/2008 16:20

Hello again everyone

I was on the due Dec thread at the beginning, but i got myself into a bit of a paranoid state about everything going okay, so although i haven't been posting, i have kept having a nosey at you all to see how you're all doing. I'm finally calming down a bit now (only took nearly 28 weeks!) So i'm going to come back and pester you again if that's okay

I've updated myself on the list, because i've moved from the 11th to the 7th.

Hope everyone's okay

I know - I'd like to book one like that too!!!!
Welcome back hiccy, glad you feel more secure now!

JollyBear · 10/09/2008 16:31

Hello,

Thanks beans for your thoughts on my pram situation! I am going to give it a go as it is pretty hard to justify buying a new one. We're getting a cot and chest of drawers from DH's cousin so we haven't chosen anything apart from a multi-coloured babybouncer from Blooming marvelous. I couldn't resit .

All those with leaking and bleeding nipples Will they keep leaking till the birth now?

Hatty I really want lemon curd on toast now. I think we've run out too.

I can't remember if I've said I'm off on holiday so won't be around for a few weeks. I'll have one hell of a job trying to catch up with the thread when I get back!

hattyyellow · 10/09/2008 16:34

Welcome Hiccy - glad you feeling more confident about things.

Jolly have a lovely lovely holiday. Are you going anywhere nice? (ps have you heard from Abbeymeg at all? Have not "seen" her for ages and was hoping all was okay - and has DG had her September baby yet?)

zoejeanne · 10/09/2008 16:57

Well, seeing as we're back onto leaky boobs ... I told DH about mine the other day and he looked all wise and said "that will be colostrum, see I do read those books you've got". Sadly for him, I sussed pretty quick that actually he was remembering back to his agriculture diploma and just telling me what he knows about sheep and cows. He did have the grace to be when I sussed him!

beans I was jealous of your linea nigra, so sorry it's not really there

olipop my friend had her second a couple of weeks ago, all within 3 hours of her waters breaking. I did want a birth like that, but then found out that she only got to hospital with 30 minutes to spare, and cause she was stuck in traffic her DH had to flag down a passing first response car for some gas and air!! Think I want a bit longer labour than that as it sounds scary.
