All right, a brand new and fresh thread...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
jasper · 22/02/2005 23:40

well seeing you ask lipstick mum, yes
The nature of the internet is such that every single thread here is open to....the whole world! Heck we've even had MEN on every now and then!
Pupuce has been on mumsnet for a very long time and has been a fantastic help to me and any others and I think she has been a little misunderstood here.
Most women |I know become very interested in all aspescts of pregnancy and childbirth . Naturally their views are coloured by their own experiences which is the way it should be. Pupuce is an amazing person as she is among the most informed and educated I have ever met regards the whole wonderful world of pregnancy, birth and babies. It is not just her job, it is her hobby! She is more able to see all sides of a situation than most and she REALLY CARES about mums and has personally helped a lot of us here.

peace and unity to all mumsnetters and good luck to all the due in June mamas.

Now can we have an emoticon for a group hug?

tribpot · 23/02/2005 07:01

Nabs - great news about your daughter, perhaps she is destined to become a ballerina!

I seem to have woken up v early today (v early for a babyfree type, I mean) - nice to see a bit of snow lying on the ground, esp as we don't have to go anywhere today

Hope everyone has a nice day - perhaps we might need a new thread at some point?

Cooperoo · 23/02/2005 07:26

Hi
I was not online last night and I am quite glad too...
It is desperate for Bubbles and her family and I cannot imagine what they are going through.
I agree that we need a new thread to freshen the air a bit.
I had been thinking to myself how friendly this thread was despite the fact there are some really different ideas regarding childbirth, breast feeding vs bottle and cloth vs disposables etc. I am sure we can keep it going too as in the real world you don't make decisions as to whom is your friend based on these factors. We need the support on a site like this or why would we be on it? I feel opinions are vital too but non-judgemental ones on this thread please. Hope I am not stepping out of line. Have a good day everyone.
I am off to the midwife this am. Pink - my bump is still small too. I seem to carry all over not just up front. Last time someone didn't see I was preg two weeks before my due date and a few colleagues were bemused that I was on maternity leave having not noticed either. Ho hum. Was told baby would be small, well about 6lbs. Had one scan and measured fine. DD was 8lb 7 just three days over so bumps mean nothing really. Do you feel your bump is high under your ribs already. Mine seems to be long rather than round IYSWIM. Am off to look at the belly index now. HTH. Clare
P.S. Great news Katz and Nab. Really pleased all OK.

welshmum · 23/02/2005 07:58

Lipstick and Uwila - supportive emoticons to you both.
Feels like June mums are up before the Grand Court of Mumsnet.....
Good morning to all.

tribpot · 23/02/2005 08:06

Btw, I think my appetite has just come back, I've already had a Creme Egg this morning

Scraggyaggy · 23/02/2005 08:52

I haven't read Bubbles threads, and to be honest since reading the upset on our thread this morning, I don't want to. At the end of the day, this poor family has suffered a tragic loss and we are all deeply sympathetic.

However, I would like to add my two-penneth worth about freedom of speech.

We have a very supportive group here on Mumsnet and in a way we have developed our own little family unit, each with different roles. The special thing about our thread is that we all allow each other to say exactly what we feel about ANY subject that affects us and we all give importance to that person's views no matter how conflicting they are with our own. (I'm sure everyone here knows someone else on this thread who thinks the complete opposite to ourselves). I consider us all to be good friends on this thread for precisely this reason and I would not want to disencourage anyone here from expressing their true feelings - what are friends for?

In the same way peope from other areas of MN feel that we don't know enough to pass judgement on them and their situations, I think the same can be said about passing comment about us within our "safe haven". We are not deliberately setting out to cause offence, we are merely trying to work out how we feel about situations which are obviously so close to our hearts.

We have snow KVG!! It's great, except I have a few things I need to do in town and really don't want to go out doing chores, would rather play in the snow in the garden with dd!

Now all we have to do is wait for the country to come to a grinding halt as usual

My darling dp went shopping after work yesterday to buy me a little present. Sweet eh? Poor boy, went dragging round the shops and couldn't find anything for me but ended up spending 60 quid on dd in Petit Bateau Ah well, he's on the right track!

Anyway, all this snow will mean I can have a good go at the decorating.

I have a doctor ante natal appt this afternoon. Just a check up really. My midwife suggested I make one when I saw her what seems like 100 years ago at my 16 week check and she told me I wouldn't see her again until 28 weeks (as a 2nd time Mum) !! At least I can walk to the docs.

Scraggyaggy · 23/02/2005 09:03

Nab - Am pleased for DD. My DP is a podiatrist and is forever flexing my joints as apparently I'm a super-flexible person too . He thinks this is quite amazing. Apparently, although I honestly don't know how true it is, people like that tend to heal quicker too when they cut themselves etc.

Cooperoo - Cyprus.... aaaah.... how lovely. That's where our baby transformed from a twinkle in Daddy's eye to the real thing! We love it there, only been once and didn't make it to Limassol sadly as we were staying up in Latchi, so spent our time on the West side. My mum is thinking about getting a transfer out there with work, once she can get rid of my brother!!

Katz - x

Might send Franniban a CAT.... am a bit concerned for her. My boss is being an as at the moment. Might fill you all in later once we've had our "meeting" today. To cut a long story short, he's being an idiot and I walked into an associates office yesterday to be told that all of our staff are going to be transferred to their company!!!! When confronted, boss said it was a load of rubbish. Well, today we are all going to be in the same locality at the same time, so let's see who's lying, shall we??? Grrr. Twit. Trouble is, he doesn't know who he's dealing with, and luckily for me, my mummy is CIPD qualified so I have a 24-7 advisor!! Sorry, will stop ranting now......

LipstickMum · 23/02/2005 09:07

By the way Trib,
a) A creme egg first thing in the morning??! Mind you, at 730 on Saturday morning I was seen munching a Krispy Kreme donut whilst making the morning tea
and b) I would second a 'new' thread

LipstickMum · 23/02/2005 09:08

Ohh yes Scraggy, do send Franni our love and we just hope everything was ok at work on Monday.

Scraggyaggy · 23/02/2005 09:15

Didn't mean as ! Meant a s . It's censorship gone mad!! lol

Scraggyaggy · 23/02/2005 09:19

Franni has chosen not to receive CATs

teabelly · 23/02/2005 09:23

Just before we start our new thread I would also like to make a quick comment on yesterday's events as I wasn't around last night...I agree with Scraggy's comments that we are all free to express our own views. Uwila please don't feel bad about views you expressed yesterday...for what it's worth I'm completely with you on this one! I realise that this view isn't shared by everyone, and our own experiences in life shape our minds and viewpoints. Our comments were not made on the 'general' boards, but as said before, within our own little 'family' area, and were not intended to offend anyone, but rather try and understand a terribly sad situation.

CAT = contact another talker - it's a way to send an email to someone else without revealing email addresses (listed at top of page )

teabelly · 23/02/2005 09:27

tribpot · 23/02/2005 10:18

Lippy - I thought I would get kudos for eating choc so early in the morning, given the way the rest of you have been stuffing yourselves recently Would it have helped if it was a chocolate fondue?!
