All right, a brand new and fresh thread...

God, just read Bubbles thread after she had a sweep and she thought things were happening.

Sounds like a monumentous cock-up from the medical staff on keeping her and dh informed as to what was happening. It just beggars belief. Especially as it sounds as though Bubbles is an nurse, so would have been able to take on board what was being said.

After pleading with her to have an elective CS in the first place, they then held off so long??!

What a desperate loss for the family

Uwila · 22/02/2005 17:37

This happened at Kingston hospital. I think I am now glad they turned me down because I'm out of their catchment area.

I suspect that the people who tried to get her to go for elective CS are not the sames ones who were in favour of holding off for six hours.

LipstickMum · 22/02/2005 17:40

Probably right, I expect a different bunch of people too.

tribpot · 22/02/2005 18:14

Lummox - my Mum has been a Granny (well, step-granny really) since she was 39! My step-sister had a baby when she was 19, she came to stay with us after her dd was born and when Mum was out in the village, most people assumed she was the mum. She took great delight (god knows why) in saying "I'm the granny!" - which then led to people looking at me (aged 15) as if I was the mum. Hmph!

Sorry - not ignoring the conversation about Bubbles, I just can't add anything to it.

Lua · 22/02/2005 19:51

I think the whole event is very sad. I cannot even begin to imagine what they are going through. I think in restrospect it might be very tempting to point fingers. I don't know any of the details of the actual delivery, so should not comment on it. I know from other threads that by 35 weeks she still has not seen the consultant. So it is possible that there were some medical errors. However, I don't think that a priori there was anything wrong with her choice. That's what we all want isn't? to have our choices respected?!
I mean think about our earlier discussion on alcohol... I agree with all of you said. The risks of a glass here and there seem very small. So I partake ina glass here and there myself... But what if one of us is that one in a million? Someone has to be.... There are many though choices to be made in life. We just have to make the best one for ourselves and hope for the best.
Ok, I'm out of my soap box!

Just wanted to say hello again. It's been a day, didn't you wonder where I was ?!?!?! Great news about Holly. Her feet are normal!!! Turns out they look as they do because she has such flexible joints. FINALLY discharged after nearly 18 months of appointments, 3 different probs and incompetent medical staff who thought they knew better than her mother. Off to catch up now, hope you all had a good day.

nab · 22/02/2005 20:36

Cadbury, not sure if will make tomorrow but are going to try.

Uwila · 22/02/2005 20:42

Oh good for little Holly.

nab · 22/02/2005 20:47

Just read a few of the posts about Bubble and just couldn't read anymore. Mr B is amazing, isn't he? Damn medical profession. (sorry to anyone offended, I'm sure you know what I mean)

pupuce · 22/02/2005 20:48

Uwila- I am gobsmacked - I think your posts are in bad taste and very very cheap shots.... you know nothing about bubbles.... you know nothing about her choices.... and it seems you are drawing conclusions mighty quickly.
It was Bubbles choice to have a vaginal birth , this is where she talked about her choice and maybe this too ... I think it is really not nice for her that you are making all these comments at this point....
It seems the docs were not the ones keen to do a section in her labour as per her DH: "medical staff made some bad decisions".

nab · 22/02/2005 20:54

sorry for 3 times posting, still learning computer stuff.

Uwila · 22/02/2005 21:10

I have nothing but sympathy and sorrow for bubbles and her family. It's the advice and encouragement she recieved from elsewhere that I have a problem with (and I'm not talking about the obstetricians who advised caesarean -- they were obviously right). I wonder though, who was her DH referring to by "medical team". Was it the obstetricians there at the birth? Or was it midwives/doulas perhaps? I of course wouldn't know. But, he seems to have a very definite opinion.

Thread crashing, pupuce, is poor taste. This is my last post on this thread on this matter. I will just be sad for her in peace now...

MrsWednesday · 22/02/2005 21:11

Nab, great news about Holly. Fantastic. I hope you get equally as good news at your scan on Thursday.

Lua · 22/02/2005 21:14

Hi Nab! Very glad to hear that all is well with DD. Keeping my fingers crossed for you for the next scan!

Sorry everyone that dragged this onto our "safe haven" thread. Whilst knowing my posts would be controversial, I just thought that it was worth saying to a thread of mums to be. I'll sign off for tonight now. And if there are more posts regarding what happened to the poor bubbles family, I will not comment further.

I really didn't mean to polute this thread with nasty mud slings.

Uwila · 22/02/2005 21:20

Where's franni? I've been worried about her. Redundancy is so horrible... especially if you're pregnant.

MrsWednesday · 22/02/2005 21:38

Uwila - don't worry about it!

Was also wondering about Franniban too.

charleypops · 22/02/2005 21:59

hey Nabs - great news! So you have a particularly talented daughter then in the flexible joints department. No doubt she'll be a very popular girl in the future!

charleypops · 22/02/2005 22:00

Uwila, I couldn't bear to read the thread after all so have no idea what you posted there or what Pupuce was referring to. I do know however that you had a very scary time yourself with your dd which culminated in a life saving cs, so I'm sure whatever you posted was from your heart and wasn't intended to cause upset x

Uwila · 22/02/2005 22:11

Charley, I didn't post anything controversial over there. Pupuce is referring to the comments I made on this thread.

Did I say I was going ot bed?

LipstickMum · 22/02/2005 22:18

Ooooooh

Am I a bit ott to be pissed off and possessive about our wonderful thread and all it's members?? Well, I am. I feel really annoyed that she's come onto our thread and said all this stuff to you Uwila.

Don't feel bad though. We go over this kind of MN difference of opinion all the time on here don't we? You're entitled to yours. How did she know what you'd been saying if you hadn't posted anything on the 'Good & Bad' thread? What I mean is, how would she know you in particular had made a comment about CS's and come on here to respond..?

Anyway, doesn't really matter I guess, but please don't feel bad about bringing bad stuff into our little hidey hole. Why did I have to bring that up today? WEird coincidence?!

LipstickMum · 22/02/2005 22:19

Nabs, yes, sorry, much relief about your daughter and her super flexible feet. Bet your glad to day is over

welshmum · 22/02/2005 22:20

I second that Charley.

Sorry haven't been around much today all - not around much tomorrow either. xxx
Oh katzguk before I forget - so pleased you had good news.
