Starlight - For DP I have packed some shorts and some tight boxers for underneath, don't want him floating out! I've put him a t.shirt in too, not sure of birthing pool etiquette!

mamamufin · 01/09/2008 13:55

CONGRATULATIONS AND CELEBRATIONS.

Well done debi and digi, wonderful news . Enjoy your special time with your little boys.

My turn next please. I am worried its me with the 10 ponder now. It certainly will be if I have to wait another month.

mamamufin · 01/09/2008 13:56

Good idea lolli I will pack the tshirt and boxers too!
How are you doing eandz?

potxola · 01/09/2008 13:57

Well the Mw has been and Lorea has loss more weight despite feeding well,so we are going now to the neonatal unit for 48 hrs.
Wish me luck

potxola · 01/09/2008 13:59

I meant she has lost more weight. I am a bit nervous.

meglet · 01/09/2008 14:01

(((hugs)))to Poxtola and Lorea. I am sure they will look after you both and Lorea will be fighting fit very soon. x

mamamufin · 01/09/2008 14:04

Sending you lots of hugs and luck potxola. Try not to worry they will look after her and she will put on weight. You are doing a fab job with the bf, dont give up.
Ps have you checked for tongue tie?

lollipopmother · 01/09/2008 14:09

Munkimom - I am not in the least bit nervous of the birth, but I am ridiculously nervous about not packing the right stuff! I can see how stupid that is written down!

FWIW though, I've packed separate bags for everyone, and also one for the car.

Socks for labour
Nursing nightie/normal pj's
Nursing vest
Cheapo pants (10)
Socks
Sweeties/fruit/chocolate/orange squash
Money

Baby
Nappies (16)
4 sleeveless bodysuits - 2 in NB and 2 in 0-3m
2 long sleeved/legs sleepsuits - 1 of each size

T.shirt/undies/shorts for birthing pool
Towel

Car
Window shades

Cellular blanket

lollipopmother · 01/09/2008 14:13

Oh, and also some plastic bags for rubbish.

Potxola - Good luck in the neonatal unit although I am sure you won't need it, it'll be a breeze and you and Lorea will be back home in no time.

MunkiMom · 01/09/2008 14:20

lolliP
i'm feeling the same way! with the birth, thats going to happen no matter what...but its the packing to make sure i am comfortable and prepared thats making me nervous.
((especially since i only have DH to stay with me, i can't really send him out for things during labour!))

ahhh, listen to us! to think there once was a time when women didn't bother with all this faff! ((oh wait, i'm sure the nhs or health system wasn't "On Another Tight Budget" so most was probably provided!
i guess we should be lucky that we get bedsheets in the wards these days, eh?!?!

lollipopmother · 01/09/2008 14:24

Ohhhh you just reminded me - you might want to take your own pillow! I think I better leave a note on my bag otherwise I'll forget one!

ellideb · 01/09/2008 14:56

That'll show him Lollipopmother! hehehe!

ellideb · 01/09/2008 14:58

Is that all you've packed Lolli?

meglet · 01/09/2008 15:02

lolli . I have visions of you going into hospital with a huge trolley full of Louis Vuitton trunks, very glamorous sweetie dahling .

lollipopmother · 01/09/2008 15:08

Oh bugger! You guys think i've packed too much don't you? Be honest! What should I take out?? Have I been too PFBish?

Meglet - I would love to be that suave
Unfortunately tho it's a M&Ps changing bag for the sprog, a small hold-all for me, and an over the shoulder satchel/man-bag for DP.

ellideb · 01/09/2008 15:14

I have included breast pads and a going home outfit for myself in mine. I'm hoping for a homebirth though so it is just 'in case' for me.

meglet · 01/09/2008 15:29

lolli I think you have got everything covered, although 3 blankets sounds more excessive . We didn't even take a blanket when we had DS - and it was November, and I haven't bothered packing one this time. We have snuggly cover thing that goes over the car seat for the journey home.

Pitufina · 01/09/2008 15:40

I don't feel prepared when it comes to the hospital bags. I've basically packed baby things but don't think I have enough. I've only half packed my bag. I haven't put in (or even bought) a nighty or pyjamas, nor a towel. Plus so many other things that people have mentioned! Snacks! I haven't put any snacks in!
Do you really need to bring your own pillow!?!

hopefully · 01/09/2008 15:56

Lollipop I'm sure my list is longer than yours! Perhaps we are both being pfb-ish... but who cares? My only requirement is that it all fits into changing bag and small holdall so DP can carry it all from the car without my assistance. Although I agree that 3 blankets might be excessive - maybe you could leave 2 in the car and get DP to swap if necessary? I've heard lots of stories of lovely new baby blankets getting sent to hospital laundry by mistake and never being seen again as well.

hopefully · 01/09/2008 16:05

BTW, I've whinged about this before, but I am getting v annoyed at the complete absence of any type of BHs, stomach tightenings, or pre-labour feelings in any way. I know that I should be grateful to have escaped the discomfort, but I (I accept I may be being a teensy bit irrational irrational...) feel that (a) labour is going to come as a hideous shock, as I haven't even experienced a tiny fraction of the sensation and (b) my uterus is broken and will never manage to expel a baby.

Clearly I am going mad, but if anyone wants to reassure me, that would be fine!

expatmom2be · 01/09/2008 16:27

Hi all - I am still around, just have trouble keeping up so hardly ever post which is I know frightfully rude... but huge congratulations to DG, Debi and the earlier ones I've missed. Potxola thinking of you and Lorea in the neonatal unit, but sure you'll be well taken care of.

I've added myself to the days left list (only 1 although no sign of anything happening yet and, hopefully, not a single BH for me either so I too am convinced my uterus has no idea what is expected of it...)

eandz · 01/09/2008 16:33

hopefully i hear ya.

i'm getting annoyed at the fact that i haven't gone into labor yet. i'm getting more and more anxious and sad everyday that passes wondering if my baby will ever come out.

i've planned fun things every day this week in hopes of making it go by faster.

although i forgot i double booked myself with a friend and an art project this afternoon and now my canvas is staring at me all blank and colorless. i was gonna do a version of 'the virgin of the rockss' and now i've realized i don't have the time to mix the blues.

eandz · 01/09/2008 16:37

mamamufin
i'm fine , just still trickelling that green watery discharge and now have a fever. called the midwives who told me to call back in the evening. i called the doctor, waiting for him to call me back. thinking about blue paints and shades of white and wondering if i can get away with doing a rough sketch and then priming for my painting before dinner time/time to call back midwives.... hmmmm

lollipopmother · 01/09/2008 16:45

EandZ - But you still have 19 days to go til your EDD, surely you don't really want to go into labour just yet?

Hopefully - I haven't had any BH, no twinges, no anything! I'm on the Raspberry Leaf Tea tablets and thought I might get some BH from them as lots of people say they get them as a side effect, but nope, although having read what everyone else says about BH I think I'm happier off without them!

Meglet, Hopefully - Yeah I know that 3 blankets is silly, but they are all totally lush and I simply can't choose which ones to leave behind, they are all thin and fit in the bag so I've decided not to make the decision at all!

Pitufina - No real need to take your own pillow I don't think, but apparently some hospitals really cheap out on the pillows because people used to nick them! Plus at the moment I need a couple of pillows to make me comfy, so I've decided to take my own one as well, in case I end up staying in.

eandz · 01/09/2008 16:48

lollipopmother i didn't really think i'd have to keep being pregnant this long. i know i'm being unreasonable and impatient. i'm the same at Christmas or when baking brownies.
