i'm gonna have a grilled cheese sandwhich with tomato soup!!!

barnpot · 30/08/2008 19:34

So disorganised today, only had 2 hours sleep, no specific reason why, just couldn't sleep. anyway forgat to put dishwasher on this afternoon, so had to eat tea off some paper plates
felt so guilty about not doing much today, then had stern talking to by my mum, obviously not to old/pregnant to recieve a good telling off. told me I shouldn't be too critical/hard on myself, suppose shes right. (she usually is)
Why have these october people come onto our nice calm thread trying to stir it up, have you nothing better to do. sorry But I AM hormonal and will gladly admit it!!!

Thanks for your posts SM . Forgive me if I don't take you up on your offer to read the last 3 or 4 threads in their entirety , but I'll take your word for it .

lollipopmother · 30/08/2008 19:47
  • Do people use reusable wipes in RL - of course they do!! All you need is a bit of old fleece and an old towel cut into squares and you're away! I've made what my DP is affectionatly calling 'poo-mitts' today! I've cut up squares of fleece and flannel and sewed a sqaure of each material together on three sides to make a mitt.

Then all you need to do is make a solution such as the ones suggested here and you've saved yourself a fortune on horrible chemical wipes that can sometimes lead to nappy rash!

Debs75 · 30/08/2008 20:10

am due 23 sept and just found out i have gestational diabetes. A bit scared as not too sure what all this means. Still only have 25 days to go and i can't wait.

One other thing how mad are we 2nd 3rd or more time parents thinking having babies in sept i am shattered the holidays are killing me and kids are bored as we haven't bee able to do much.

Pitufina · 30/08/2008 20:11

Well!!!!!!! How do you do it?!?! I go away for a week and you write about 700 posts!!! If not more. Amazing.
Had a lovely week away in the Lake District. Rained about 90% of the time, but we had a great time.
Can't remember who mentioned piles, but I've got them too. I'm sure they never quite went away from when I had my DS (I had them dealt with last time but it didn't work!). They're not uncomfortable though at the moment, which is one less thing to worry about.
Congratulations to all the new arrivals. I hope things are going well for you. x

foxytocin · 30/08/2008 20:15

My pleasure, cantsleepwontsleep.

Pitufina · 30/08/2008 20:16

Also, I've ended up with the wrong amount of days left on the days left list. I may have put it down wrong in the first place or my maths isn't great. Who knows! I'm due on the 26th so I must have 27 days left and not 25. That's right isn't it? Changing it now.

eandz · 30/08/2008 20:35

oh, i liked foxytocin too though, she's got spunk

foxytocin · 30/08/2008 20:38

CSWS I think you are great which is why your first post is also a surprise to me. All i was trying to ask you was to have a bit of perspective, which i think you failed to have with your first post.

if you look carefully at the wording of my response, you will see that I was not rude. The grammar of the last sentence is in the subjunctive mood but a lot of people will read something like that and assume it is the indicative and react to it as if it were.

As for patronising, well that is a matter of opinion, but re-read your first post drawing that conclusion.

no hard feelings. look after yourself and good luck with your new baby. Here's hoping this one allows you to sleep.

biglips · 30/08/2008 20:40

what im confused is that...is Foxytocin expecting a baby??? as havent got a clue wheres she popped up from??

Sassafrass · 30/08/2008 20:41

Biglips, in my experience a breastpump is much harsher on the nipples than the baby will be.

biglips · 30/08/2008 20:43

so what if i use the nips shields...will that hurt more than natural?

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/08/2008 20:46

Life's too short for grudges foxy, so consider us kissed and made up.

lol at biglips getting all confused. Foxytocin is simply kiskidee with a different posting name, so she's on your expectant list already.

biglips · 30/08/2008 20:47

ahhh righto!! and now wheres did you come from then?? i cant keep up on this thread as it goes about 100 miles per hour!!!

foxytocin · 30/08/2008 20:52

biglips, nothing you can do will toughen up your nips. that is a common myth. it is the pregnancy hormones that make your nips so sensitive. I found after having dd1 that it went almost immediately. I was genuinely shocked as even my top would irritate them while pg.

For some women, tenderness continue but for most it doesn't which is why if you have nipple pain while bfing, get the latch checked by a pro (not normally the same as a MW or HV, sadly). Go to a breastfeeding group run by one of the breastfeeding charities or a baby cafe.

MN is here, there are always useful people on the breast and bottlefeeding boards at all times of the day and night and it can be a great port of call but in some cases, nothing like speaking or seeing an accredited breastfeeding counsellor.

Try not to worry and stress about it too much now. Enjoy your pg and think positive.

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/08/2008 20:54

I'm from the due in October thread biglips, where I'll be returning quite shortly, so you can forget that you ever heard of me .

biglips · 30/08/2008 20:58

thanks foxy as thats so reassuring . There is a Breastfeeding group around the corner from me in a childrens centre that my friend used to go and she said its good.

Cantsleepwontsleep - dont be silly!!.....just wanna say congrats to you

biglips · 30/08/2008 20:59

i am off to bed as totally knackered

Talia1 · 30/08/2008 21:09

Hee hee can i vote for Starlight as Prime Minister?

Any help appreciated here, I know there's been loads of sling stuff linked - can anyone recommend a sling for my 6lb Anna? I've seen some that say 'newborn' that actually turn out to be 8lb upwards. Can I assume that the 'pouch' type would be fine for any weight?
