Beans: won't the music still be in your iTunes Library? If so you can restore it, though you may need to create a new playlist (sigh)

Beans33 · 15/08/2008 16:51

Yes, think I can do it. I'm just a bit of a neanderthal when it comes to that sort of thing.

THINK I've got it sorted - will find out next week!

Veggiemummy · 15/08/2008 16:57

the homebirth support group is a bit of stupid name really as it sounds like something for people who have a problem and need help. It is actually just a group run by the local independent midwives for any women hoping to have a homebirth either privately or on the NHS and they can get together and chat and swap stories etc and they have news mums come along who have just had a homebirth to share their experiences. They also get Doulas and prenatal therapists of any kind along so we can chat to them and if we want engage their services. They had a reflexologist today who i will def have a chat to at the next meeting. It was just nice for a chat really i met a lovely lady who is due in three weeks and she had her mum along who comes from not far from where i come from in Australia so that was nice for a chat to an Aussie.

I had some trouble with some of my tighter tops not goi ng back to normal, i had an Arsenal ladies top that i wore to matches when preg with DS with an tummy band and it has never quite been the same.

oh beans now i want a choc eclair. I just found a hairdresser around the corner from me who has done a major cut (i had short hair now it is just at my jawline) wash & blowdry for £17 i can't believe it. She has given me the exact same style that i used to have done in London for £70+ (depending on the seniority of the bloody stylist who was around at the time). I love this women i can never leave Derby now.

EffiePerine · 15/08/2008 16:59

at cheap hairdresser. I am badly in need of a haircut, but my hair grows so fast in pg I'm not sure it's worth it! No idea what to do with it either (it's about shoulder length with long layers at the moment, which sounds more styled than it is)

Veggiemummy · 15/08/2008 17:01

oh Hatty i think they actually use choko as the 'apple' in McDonalds apple pies mixed in with apple sauce so maybe it is something in chokos that you are craving. Not sure if you call them chokos over here there a funny vegetable that grows on a vine.

Beans33 · 15/08/2008 17:02

grapes?

Veggiemummy · 15/08/2008 17:03

thats about what mine was Effie i just kept putting it up in a ponytail so was feeling a bit frumpy and unfashionable. I'm still not exactly yummy mummy material but i feel more comfortable.

Veggiemummy · 15/08/2008 17:04

Beans thats a fruit!!!

Beans33 · 15/08/2008 17:05

I'm feeling ridiculous today. In a most peculiar mood. My hair is SO square, but I only cut it short in November and it will not grow back. I hate it short and want it long again! I just tuck it behind my ears all the time and look like my mother! it's so dull. but don't want to get it styled because they'll take length off it and I don't want to lose that, IYSWIM.

Veggiemummy · 15/08/2008 17:06

Beans i can't stop thinking about chocolate eclairs, this has happened once before because of this thread but when i went out to uy some i could only find those crappy bakery ones. I want the really yummy ones where the pastry sort of melts in your mouth and the chocolate is prper chocolate not just weird icing....mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...............

Beans33 · 15/08/2008 17:09

ahhhh, mine ar ethe toffee ones, if that helps? no cream in them. but now you've made me want a pastry one, so you bite in and the cream squidges out into your gob. Oh delicious!

Veggiemummy · 15/08/2008 17:11

OMG now i want those as well, i can never suck on them long have to bite in.

hattyyellow · 15/08/2008 17:16

Never heard of a choko! Will look it up...

I remember the health visitor going on about weaning babies on kumara when we lived in NZ and not realising for ages it was sweet potato..

Veggie keep meaning to ask you what an IM is?

Beans I've also got an awful haircut at the moment. Like Effie my hair grows ridiculously fast in pregnancy and so I asked the hairdresser to take extra off. It looks horrible, far too short as my face is getting rounder with pregnancy. And now seems to have stopped growing fast just when I want it to! And I look exactly like my mother and aunt with this haircut too - how bizarre - I think its the fringe!

Beans33 · 15/08/2008 17:17

yes, me too. and they're so good!

Beans33 · 15/08/2008 17:18

hatty - my face is so round now, I look like a balloon! I'd got so slim before. Now I just keep eating!

Veggiemummy · 15/08/2008 17:20

Inedependent Midwife, sorry i have been a bit too lazy to write it out in full.

katie3677 · 15/08/2008 17:21

Intrigued by Choko, so looked it up:
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The chayote (Sechium edule), also known as sayote, tayota, choko, chocho, chow-chow, christophine or merliton, is an edible plant that belongs to the gourd family Cucurbitaceae along with melons, cucumbers and squash.

The plant has large leaves that form a canopy over the fruit. The vine is grown on the ground or more commonly on trellises.

Beans33 · 15/08/2008 17:23

Oooh, thanks katie! not really any clearer, but still at least we know it's squashy in the middle!

Wow I'm bored at work. our train is at 7.30, so not leaving til 6pm. Our lovely head of IT is talking me through how to mend my ipod online. I think he's as bored as I am!

Veggiemummy · 15/08/2008 17:28

yeah the part you eat is a bit like a cross between a cucumber and squash but with out the little seeded bit, they have one big seed instead, really yummy actually boiled or steamed.

hattyyellow · 15/08/2008 17:29

Thanks Katie must be some kind of vitamin thing. Am having tomato and rocket salad with bangers and mash tonight so hopefully that will cover most things! Am so hungry! An eclair would be just lovely for pudding .

Veggie thanks for IM definition. Have seen it on a couple of other threads too in childbirth etc and wondered what it meant.

Beans hope you get your ipod fixed. I am supposed to be finishing off a research report and all I want to do is lie down and sleeeeeeeeeeppppppppp..

Veggiemummy · 15/08/2008 17:36

mmmm.....mash

Beans33 · 15/08/2008 17:36

right ladies, I'm off to Wales! Have a great week - will try and catch up when I come back on thursday, but might not be able to !

Have a smashing time.

xx

Veggiemummy · 15/08/2008 17:38

ciao Beans really hope you have a lovely relaxing trip.

rosmerta · 15/08/2008 20:52

I've read through the thread and picked up chats about odd fruits, Ims, Ipods & lots of other things I've forgotten. Sorry

Veggie, I'm hoping to join a homebirth support group in my area, just waiting to hear back from the co-ordinator.

I'm still taking my vitamins but only because I know my diet is so crap atm that the baby needs something good from somewhere. I just seem to be completely off fruit and veg, which I normally love. On top of that, I'm craving red meat which I haven't eaten in about 15 yrs!

Hello, everyone! >waves< Just back from our week away. I've only skimmed, I'm afraid, as there's soooooo much to read!

Glad to see people being 'naughty' foodwise. I've been so good until this past week, when I had pate and runny eggs on the same day! . I take my vitamins from time to time but they make me v v v constipated so I alternate with folic acid and the spatone iron supplement someone recommended ages ago.

I think someone asked me to post my infamous holiday thread from last year? Given that this year was SO much better, it seems churlish to do so, but then... it did make front-page-of-Mumsnet fame at the time! Here you go.
