LOL at baby goggles!!

I remember going to a post-natal group and feeling secretly sorry for all the other mothers because DS was so much more beautiful than all their ugly mites, and worrying that they would feel bad that their babies weren't in his league .

When I look back at his baby photos from that time he was teeny, red and had a wonky head and a grumpy expression. Ie pretty standard!

LadyThompson · 15/08/2008 12:23

DP and I have made a solemn vow ONLY to exclaim how bee-yoo-tiful and EVER-SO-ADVANCED our child is to each other. And POSSIBLY the two grannies

daisydora · 15/08/2008 12:34

ladyt in my case my bicornate uterus means I have 2 wombs,2 uterus,2 cervix!!!! Consultant had an SHO with her yesterday and she was looking completely bewildered as she explained to her my multiple organs!!!!

On the naughty food, I have been craving Goats cheese (the french stuff in a round). I do normally warm it through a bit so its a bit goo-ey....have resisted so far. Although I have had slightly runny eggs and peanuts, and I did try DH's pate the other week but it was just a taste [wink)

Beans33 · 15/08/2008 12:35

thanks pixsix - I dont' have the notes with me, but wonder if you know the number at all? I might give them a bell. Although all seems well "down below" now, so think I might leave it. Plus beastie was kicking like a mad thing last night, so I'm sure is all ok. But if it does recur, then perhaps would be good to have the number with me this weekend?

thank you v much for advice.

xx

JamInMyWellies · 15/08/2008 12:35

HAHA I thought my DS was the most scrumptious looking thing ever but looking back at photos I realised he was quite scrawny looking with a lot of wrinkly skin and the most awful baby acne. But he was mine and thats all that matters am sure I will be exactley the same with mini munch.

Beans hope you are feeling better.

Glad I am not the only one being a bit slack about the preg vits, I eat a relatively balanced diet not much fruit but loads of salad etc well actually no fruit just gone right off the taste of it this pregnancy not even strawberries and necterines and they are my favourite. But I reckon all is ok am much healthier than last time round when for the first couple of months I was still on 20/day and alot of vodka.

Off to get my hair done tonight thinking abut a bit of a change have had the same hairstyle for the last 10yrs and reckon if I get a fab new haircut no-one will notice the mahoosive bump and cellulited legs on holiday next week.

Have a good arvo everyone

EffiePerine · 15/08/2008 12:36

yy to feeling sorry for the other mums with their ugly babies

you go 'ooh doesn't he/she have nice eyes/hair' while secretly thinking 'jeez what a weirdy baby'

then you realise they were doing exactly the same to you!

EffiePerine · 15/08/2008 12:39

daisy: what about baking the goat's cheese in the oven (whole)? that would kill off any nasties then you could spread the gooey cheese on some nice bread

pixsix · 15/08/2008 12:42

Beans according to the notes, it's 020 7188 1723 or 020 7188 1722. I could never get the first number to work though as kept getting a strange message about voicemail so best to use the second one I think!

Glad everything is fine now, hope you have a lovely time away. x

Beans33 · 15/08/2008 12:57

Thanks pixsix - how are you doing, by the way? all ok?

pixsix · 15/08/2008 13:02

Beans I'm fine now thanks (touch wood). The baby is kicking quite a lot now and I'm looking forward to getting to 24 weeks on Sunday, not sure why but I've had it in my mind as a sort of milestone ever since I got my BFP.

Beans33 · 15/08/2008 13:16

Yes, I'm with you on that - my milestone as well. Think because the baby has a 44% chance of survival if it's born after then, so feels more "real" somehow, if you know what I mean.

To my horror, I have developed cellulite on my calves. Vile.

Veggiemummy · 15/08/2008 13:51

Hi all have just got back from the homebirth support group thing this morning, was great. I have to admit in the back of my mind i was expecting a load of militant hippy mums but everyone was lovely, swap indigestion remedies and bump wiggling stories. had a chat to the IM's about the problems in Derby with the canceled homebirths (the meeting was in Nottingham) and they were all a bit bemused by it all.

oh i can't keep away from peanuts this time. when i had DS 3 years ago you couldn't even look at anything that had vaguely been near a peanut but since they have relaxed it and say if you have bad asthma or eczema or a history of peanut allergies you should avoid it but even with that it is not based on any research it is just in case, which is fair enough.

oh now i can't stop thinking of food. We are going out tonight to the movies and have booked into the Directors lounge which is a cinema with a bar and restuarant, the cinema has big seats that just come in doubles so no big rows and has a little table so we can order food and take it in with us. I have already been online to have a look at their menu and decided what i am having. Their dessert menu looks amazing!!!!! they have a really good cocktail menu but unfortuntely i will have to skip those, i'm sure one wouldn't hurt but am more concerned about the stares i would get from people when i walk away from the bar with a big colourful cocktail.

JamInMyWellies · 15/08/2008 13:52

cellulite another curse of pregnacy, just keep thinking they are marks of love from our children >

Veggiemummy · 15/08/2008 13:54

oh also i think the main thing with pate is the animal derived vit a which is mainly a problem in first 12 weeks so a little every now and then can't hurt. Best rule of thumb is go with what you fancy if you crave it it can't be bad. One of my DSIL's ate brie and salami sandwichs through her 2nd pregnancy as that is what she was craving.

zoejeanne · 15/08/2008 14:35

I thought my cellulite was getting bad, but hadn't thought about it being a pregnancy thing (clunk - the penny drops!) And I've always been proud of the fact that even though I'm a lovely pear shape I didn't have much. Drat, should have taken lots of photos of my thighs before I got the "marks of love"

Veggiemummy · 15/08/2008 14:44

i've been getting cellulite too, is it the fault of the pregnancy then, oh thats good nothing to do with the choccies then.

zoejeanne · 15/08/2008 15:00

Forgot to say to veggie that I was pleased the support group meeting went well. Will this group support you, even if homebirths are cancelled in your area?

LadyThompson · 15/08/2008 15:19

I'm hoping the extra cellulite will drop off when I lose weight after the baby.

I've been quite thin (size 8) before and still had it, though

I was more like a 12 before I was pregnant and to get back to that will do nicely.

We'll see

katie3677 · 15/08/2008 15:19

Have just got back from doing some holiday clothes shopping and am very excited as I found those bump bands that someone was talking about ages ago in New Look, 3 for £9, much better than the £9.99 each they sell them for on the internet. I got them mainly so that I don't have to buy a load of maternity tops but can wear my normal tops without fear of the bump poking unattractively out of the bottom, but I've got one on now and it is feels like it is actually supporting the bump, soooooo comfortable. I thoroughly recommend.

LadyThompson · 15/08/2008 15:21

Well done for nosing them out Katie. I looked at something similar in the Isabella Oliver catalogue and they were £30 each. Will brave New Look tomorrow....do they have a maternity section then?

Beans33 · 15/08/2008 15:22

Oooh, I've got one from Jo JO Maman and it's lovely - even got a button hole and button, which fit onto your jeans/trousers and hold them in place. sooooo comfy and lovely. although bit of a faff when you need a pee.

which is quite a lot at the moment - is that normal? I thought we had a few months before it because pressing again!

zoejeanne · 15/08/2008 15:36

beans I've not stopped peeing since day 1, don't think I'll ever be able to go more than and hour and half between loo stops again!

Beans33 · 15/08/2008 15:45

oh no! I've just synced my ipod and it's taken off 400 of my songs and I can't get them back.

absolutely gutted!

hattyyellow · 15/08/2008 15:48

Am still peeing for England as well!

I found the only problem with normal tops/bump bands was that my normal tops got stretched and looked really odd afterwards..is that just me? They kept the bump shape and went all saggy..

No cellulite here yet but sure there's still time! Have got random cravings for crap again, it's like going back to the first trimester.

Macdonalds apple pie...mmmmmmmmmm...have tried to substitute with a braeburn and its just not hitting the spot!

Beans33 · 15/08/2008 15:55

Yes, I'm trying not to wear normal tops, but some are quite baggy, so it's ok.

Ooh, I feel a bit sick - too many chocolate eclairs! Got haribo for later too.
