hey pinktulips, I've heard that UCHG are keen on episiotomies also. I'm attending Limerick and have had one already so heigh ho! What hospital are you going to?
only one day apart between our EDDs!

Singingintherain · 28/08/2008 14:58

Hi all,

I have not managed to get on for a while, as we have been back to England for a holiday. I have managed to go trouble free for the last few weeks as well and not had to have a scan for three and a half weeks and no bleeding.

I had an appointment this morning and I was really worried as movement had not been noticed for a couple of weeks, but I kept telling myself to enjoy my holidays and wait until I got back, so I just got on with it. It was very difficult to put any worries to the back of my mind due to all the other problems I have had so far, but it must have worked as I have now managed to get to 17w5d. It took the Matrona 20 minutes to find a heart beat but she was determined. The problem was my heartbeat was going so fast that she could not tell the difference and she ended up having to take my pulse at the same time.

I have also managed to put some weight on instead of off amounting to two and a half kilos this month. She has told me that it is a big baby (or long) as I measured 20cm. It really did surprise her. I wish that I had had a scan instead of the worry just to be certain, but she was happy enough.

I just feel so much better and just wanted to share my news. Hopefully I will stay online with you.

I hope all is well with you all and I will try to catch up a bit when I can.

Neeerly3 · 28/08/2008 15:45

jamescagney - I have just spent a day in sunny ole Limerick for work - the wife of one of my colleagues there is expecting, and i thought for one minute it was you! But she is due in October I think.....

Nice to meet you anyway!

PinkTulips · 28/08/2008 15:56

jamescagney, i'll be attending castlebar this time unless i can scrape together 2 grand for a HB (not bloody likely) it's an hours drive away though which will be odd, i'll proably have an 'accidental' homebirth to avoid an hour in the car in labour

luckily both my babies made arush for it at the end so i avoided UCHGs scalpel happy approach. although one mw did manually stretch my cervix from 8cm to 10cm with dd.... not sure that's in any handbooks

jamescagney · 28/08/2008 15:57

Thank you neeerly3, she must have been extraordinarily pretty for you to think she might have been me! . I'm here in Ennis mainlining nose drops!

Neeerly3 · 28/08/2008 16:03

oh very pretty!

Hi all

Sorry been a bit quiet so far, but been trying to focus on work which isn't my strength at the moment and out for dinner with a couple of friends last night.

I was quite surprised to be told by my friends (thankfully very close) that I had 2 marks on my top and both in the nipple area and looked like I had boob leakage but I thought surely I was too early for that. Apparently not according to the Miriam Stoppard book and the 2 little marks on my bra when I checked in the daylight lol

xx

Manual stretching - eek ! Amazed you've gone on to have more kids PinkTulips!!

Am off to dinner tonight with DH to nice posh restaurant (Nahm, his favourite thai place) - v excited as discovered last night that I can still just about squeeze into one of my nice dresses without looking like a total heffalump. May even treat myself and squiglet to a little glass of wine while out...

lardybump · 28/08/2008 16:34

evening everyone hope you are all well. I am feeling 100% better now no MS and not so tired... amen to that.

LittleMissNorty · 28/08/2008 16:57

Eww manual stretching.....that made my eyes water...

MarkStretch · 28/08/2008 17:17

Who's stretching a manual? What?

I can't keep up when I have to work, boooooo!

Anyhoo, I went to court with a client today, walked the whole way home (about 2 miles) and now have the dreaded searing arse ache pain. It's hurts to sit down, lie down, stand up etc etc. I had to eat a cookie to feel better.

Got midwife tomorrow for bloods.

I'm not going to tell her I've got a doppler in case she tells me off but baby's hb is lovely and strong

spottyshoes · 28/08/2008 17:32

Agree that Court days are crap Markstretch, Ours are really slow and you end up sitting there for hours on end which doesnt work with sciatica, SPD, MS, IBS, baby bladder, tiredness, insert your own ailments at will People shouldn't have to work when pg, it should be law that ML starts with a BFP!

I cant keep up with the thread either and I haven't been working today am going to look properly when DS is in bed.

I do notice I've been evicted off the EDD list though [sulky teenager emoticon]

dinkymum · 28/08/2008 18:44

hi thanks for the welcomes!
I can change my name if it would be easier I really dont mind! I'm rubbish at picking them though
for the list thingy if its ok if i'm added, i'd 28 btw and live in Nottingham.
I think I feel more scared this time than I was when I was pregnant with DD, am I strange and alone in this?
So are people going to find out what they're having or not?
think we definitely will. DH is so organised he likes to be as prepared as possible! Plus just about everything we have is pink, pink, pink!

Just took a good look at bump in full length mirror and can see what the Matrona meant. I look massive and feel it, although, from the back I do not look so bad. I think that because I have lost three stone over the last year I had not notice getting bigger as my old clothes are too big still. Although I was originally given the 10th February, it changed to 1st after a bit of rapid growth. The Matrona has now said to expect anytime after 15th January. Now I am really confused, but look on the side that I am nearly half way there.

Of all things,I have started craving chewing gum and porridge??? Well at least not together. Meat is so off the menu, but loving cheese and biscuits.

I am hoping that the nesting feeling will kick in soon. The house looks a mess but I have a good excuse as I am still on rest orders.

I had a great mediation class whilst away and she did a cd which I bought. I thought that her class must have been really good as I never heard it and fell asleep immediately. I am hoping to use it for those hard to get to sleep nights.

PinkTulips · 28/08/2008 19:25

markstretch, you have my deepest sympathy, i tried mopping the floors the other night and ended up crawling on the floor crying in pain. dp's response was................. 'i told you to let me do it instead of killing yourself' i take back everything i said about him being nice this time round [sulks]

seriously though, i've never felt pain like it, i literally couldn't stand up... it was worse than any labour pain i ever had. am really scared now as if i'm this bad at 17 weeks i'm not going to be able to walk by full term

MarkStretch · 28/08/2008 19:54

I have just done the ironing sitting down to take the pressure off!

Pink- you're crazy! Mopping floors?! That should so be left to DP

babyignoramus · 28/08/2008 20:47

Haven't been on for a while - I just lose track on these really long threads! My bump appeared yesterday .

PinkTulips · 28/08/2008 20:55

you see they only needed to be mopped due to my kittens digging up my plants and what he actually said was 'are you sure you don't want me to do that babe?' while walking out of the room in the direction of the ps3

winemakesmummyclever · 28/08/2008 21:01

Aaaarrrgghhh!! Manual stretch???!!?? Oh no, there are just some things that are beyond the pale!

Welcome and congrats to any newbies out there - there are so many of us one here that it is really difficult to keep track of what is happening with who. Plus, am coming down with the mum-dumbs again - think I read somewhere about baby robbing you of all your brain food & vits as it grows, so that is my excuse .

When will we remember to slow down a bit? Nearly crippled myself today laying kitchen floor with dh and painting radiator cabinet. Thank god he's back in work tomorrow so I don't have to do more DIY!. I should be more vigilant with my physio for my shonky back and hip, though Markstretch's cookie prescription sounds a far better alternative. Hope a good night's rest will help to restore an upright gait to us all .

laidbackinengland · 28/08/2008 21:42

Evening ! It's all gone a bit listtastic on hear today !

Singing - glad your bleeding has stoped it must be a relief.

Have started a new role at work this weeks so have been busy busy busy...(mainly stealing things from the stationery cupboard and gossiping with new colleague

DH has just been picked up for a 3 day trip to Wales for a friend's stag do, all very wholesome I'm assured.

That means 3 days with just me and the kids...lets hope it doesn't rain.

I'm 19 weeks tomorrow...with my revised due date of 23/1...so almost halfway there. To celebrate I have spend a small fortune on maternity clothes - of which I will no doubt send half back when the guilt sets in !

MarkStretch · 28/08/2008 21:55

I've just bought myself some BNWT GAP Maternity jeans on Ebay for £16!

And luckily my PayPal account 'broke' and so DH had to buy them for me.
