Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
longwayfromhome · 10/08/2008 17:28

Sazzles - nope, I'm still here and still no baby yet. Am getting fed up and to be honest a bit upset with people looking at me and saying "que panzote" which basically means "what a big belly you have".

On the other hand in the Spanish learning stakes I did learn that "el bosque" which literally translates as "the woods" or "the forest" can also be used as a rough translation of "lady garden"

ALBS DH and I have both done some very nice amazon shopping for my mum to bring with her when she comes to visit in September. I ordered several nice novels and no baby books at all.

I hope that everyone else is doing well - congratulations to all the new babies, lovely news, and good luck to those in progress.

SKYTVADDICT · 10/08/2008 17:45

Just a quick update.

Called the LO Lewis David - added some piccies to facebook but not got round to doing it here yet. Will try and get it sorted!

All going surprisingly well, an elective c/s is definitely a different experience to an emergency one! Everyone said it would be but I wasn't convinced.

Congratualtions for all the births and good luck to everyone still to produce x

Shazza2002 · 10/08/2008 17:49

Evening ladies

Well no baby here Now a week overdue.

Spent the weekend at my mums as she lives nearer the hospital and they were doing roadworks on the route I would take from home, so thought it was better to be safe than sorry.

Looks like I will end up being induced on Tuesday, so although I know's it's gonna be very intense and restricting again, at least the end is in sight

Congratulations to all the new arrivals.

Hugs to those who have their LO's and who are a little down.

Labour vibes to those who are just in pain with nothing much to show for it.

CaptainCaveman · 10/08/2008 18:10

Evening gals , I hope you are feeling relatively pucker. I say relatively for the obvious reasons....

Oliver has now put on 4oz after scary mw visit on thursday - I think she scared him into weight gain by threatening formula. I did complain to my regular mw who I saw yesterday, saying how annoyed I was that the other mw's first suggestion was to add in formula to increase weight gain. She agreed there is no need as the first things should be offering feeds more often etc - which I have done (obv with good effect ).

It is incredible how alike ds1 and ds2 look - they could be twins except for different hair colour .

albs & dizzy ditto feeling bad about other siblings. Ds1 seems to be happy about ds2, he keeps kissing him and telling him he loves him. It's just me who feels bad about how mine and ds1's relationship has altered - am still trying to figure this out

dizzydixies · 10/08/2008 19:24

TS hugs and more positive thoughts - fully understand re tonsils the wrong way, I have a post birth story re that from this time but thought I would save it till everyone has popped

CC good for your and Oliver! I spoke to MW again this morning as Dylan is now doing marathon sleeping and I'm getting paranoid that she's not getting enough milk - she's still having dirty nappies so I hope so

had started a thread trying to get some advive re milk supply but didn't word it very well

am trying to work out if either low iron or grief can have an adverse effect on milk supply

forced myself to leave the house today (with BEAUTIFUL new pram may I add) and walked along to park with dh and the girls - got to park and of course the heavens opened, Dylan started crying, dd1 started misbehaving and dd2 had a tantrum and flung herself into a puddle - fecking marvellous - should have stayed in my bed

I think dh is about getting to the end of his tether with this whole house husband malarky - he's been in a bit of a grump today and a bit short with the kids which of course sets me off on one thinking its my fault that I'm not doing enough - he's NEVER made me feel like this but I think my baby blues and grief are now running hand in hand with my paranoia

doesn't help that dad phoned this morning in a bit of a state as the whole finality (is that a word?) of the situation has hit him, he also casually threw in that he's been having chest pains for the past 4 days but will get it checked out 'at some point' WTF?!?!? AT SOME POINT???!!!!? Jesus wept - when does the parent become the child

so after mammoth whinging post (again sorry) am off for a lie down in a dark room and am not coming out again, well until sazz texts me to tell me of another arrival

skytvaddict lovely name

poppy texted me today to say she is getting out of hosp too with Emily so welcome home Poppy and wee Emily

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 10/08/2008 19:28

TS cant believe you are still here.
I have just got back from the street party it was actually quite nice.
Interesting to put names and adresses to faces you see, walking their dogs past everyday.
Also saw an old school friend that lives on my street and has done for 2 years and neither of us realised
Shazza you never know little one could show day before your induction.
CC well done you, I was shocked when you were advised to do that, thankfully mw was supportive this time.
I also feeling quite worried about my dd after all at 18 months she is still my baby.
Wondering how I m going to cope, as they take up and need so much of you, which I obviously dont mind, just guilt kicking in.
I suppose its normal.

Sister keeps saying she will feel like a giant to me when baby is here.
She remebers thinking how huge her dds hands were when her ds was born.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 10/08/2008 19:31

Dizzydixies sound like a stressful day for you. I hope you manage to get a bit of rest.

dizzydixies · 10/08/2008 19:37

I did sorry am just a whinging mare ignore me

glad you decided to go to the party after all and lol at you meeting an old school friend who lives in same place - tis a small world sometimes isn't it!

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 10/08/2008 19:47

Your not whinging in the slightest. You should be proud of yourself. New baby 2 other children and venturing out.
Well done.
besides it helps to get things off your chest sometimes.

Yes it is a small world sometimes.

oopsacoconut · 10/08/2008 19:48

DIZZY Whinge away - if you can't whinge here where can you? And you might explode if you don't, and that would be a waste of good advice!! [hugggs

dizy do whinge - lord knows I do enough!!!
Gosh - make dh go to the dr - else you'll be more stressed by worying about him

dizzydixies · 10/08/2008 20:11

ALBS its my dad who is complaining of chest pains not dh thank goodness as I think that would just about finish me off - he is on heart tablets for something but I'm not sure exactly what but have made my feelings known about his casual attitude towards a check up - he's probably trying not to worry me in his usual over protective way

sazz sounds lovely, should've popped down really but wouldn't have liked to offend - am kind of off my food at the moment, unless its chocolate we had beef cannelonis, garlic bread and roast veg and I forced in about half of it

thank you all for listening to me bleet on again - am off now to fight battle of the bath and bed - will probably loose but hey, at least am aware am fighting a loosing battle!!!

CaptainCaveman · 10/08/2008 20:12

dizzy how you keep going is a marvel to me, with all you've had to deal with on top of your pg/newborn. I hope you can persuade your dad to go to the gp or hospital.

no1putsbaby I agree, my ds1 does seem to me like a GIANT compared to his brother. I think this adds to my sadness as for 4.3 yrs ds has always been my baby boy (sniff).

I mentioned to albs earlier that my headaches are still hanging around. Not had my bp checked since coming home last monday so no idea if this is now back to normal (it was almost normal last mon). Headaches are there despite regular paracetamol and voltarol which I'm taking for cs pain.

marvellous, now I want a farking toffee crisp

gigglegirl · 10/08/2008 20:17

hi all,

Imogen and I are now home.

Things are good, busy now with four kids and today it has taken it's toll on me and my c-section scar has flared up and is really sore so I have spent the day in bed.

Imogen is like a little doll, she is in fact smaller than DD1 Baby Born!

She sleeps all the time which is great in some ways but quite disconcerting in others, she finally put a small amount of weight on on Friday and the midwives are now not coming until tomorrow, Hopefully they will tell me that all is well.

Feeding is going well although she doesn't feed at all the way the other three have! You'd think that after BF three others I would have more confidence but despite being a BF counsellor I have struggled this time. The longest she has been on the breast is 15mins and she is so sleepy that often she lasts less than a minute before she falls asleep so it can take 1 - 2 hours to go through the whole waking up and relatching thing before she will go into a deep sleep and I assume she really has had enough! The kids are in love with her, it is so cute, I thought they might be a bit bored by now but they have been totally gorgeous.

Bit worried about next week as DH has to go to work so will have all 4 and the house to deal with alone! He went out last night at 5 for a drink to celebrate Imogen's arrival and I managed to cook tea and get them all to bed but it was hard, and it was the only time Imogen woke up herslef and she cried for about 5mins as I was in the middle of tea for the others so that was quite stressful.

Hope all is going well for the rest of you and that those still waiting aren't in too much discomfort. I have to say that even though I have had a c-section and the scar is sore today I feel 200% better than before with the SPD and the cholestasis, I was wheeled to the operating theatre as I couldn't walk but I walked out of the hospital with no crutches!

CaptainCaveman · 10/08/2008 20:22

YOu have 4 children and you cooked tea after having a cs? *. I can barely manage to look after 2 of them WITHOUT doing any cooking.

You Are A Godess giggle

oohh cold flannel idea sounds good, did it keep her awake during feed? have got the hang of waking her up but keeping her awake on the boob is a different matter!!

I was pretty chuffed I made tea. espec as it was homemade cauliflower/potato/mixed veg cheese and not frozen pizza!

haven't shifted out of bed today though!

Sazzles...will think about the Tuesday birthing party.

Not much for words this evening. Will try to do better tomorrow.

PetitFilou1 · 10/08/2008 21:42

sazzles can't believe they termed your dd a reluctant feeder because she was asleep all the time! That's not reluctant feeding that's just a baby who likes sleeping! dd was the same though I had to keep poking her all the time, unlatching her and relatching her etc etc to make sure she didn't fall asleep otherwise she would just snack all day and all night - I wasn't having any of that!

gigglegirl go away, you are making us all look bad - you a obviously a bit of a natural at this mum/wife lark aren't you?!

dizzy Also sorry your trip went t*ts up - the next one will be better though. And whinge away, you have been through a very very hard time and are perfectly entitled to let off steam. btw dh is a cardiologist - if you tell me what the heart tablets are called I can get an explanation of what they are for if you would like one? Your poor dad and poor you having to deal with him saying he'll get it checked at some point - it feels like when my mum told me she'd had surgery for endometrial cancer after the event after never having mentioned it at any time previously

TS I am there on that beach by that house in spirit at the moment ...

Now off to bed, have had an exhausting weekend with too many guests. See you all tomorrow...

cyteen · 10/08/2008 21:54

Aww dizzy I really wish you would stop apologising and blushing over sharing your feelings with us. We all think you're wonderful, you should too

Sazzles I am feeling much better now, thanks for asking Ended up napping for two hours or so at lunchtime, which seemed to miraculously sort me out. Then DP and I went out for a lovely long walk by the canal and had a good long talk about some things that had been stewing between us...nothing major, just one of those things where communication has gone a bit haywire and the air needs clearing. Anyway, the air is now cleared and we came home in much better mood; I showed him how to make pizza dough and we had lots of fun making tea together
