oh Lal at least you got some relief.

don't worry waiting girl we actually have an Ikea card (DH could resist as we got 10% for use on the day we signed up which actually saved us £60) and love the fact that we get free stuff from the cafe, inc. breakfast for one of us!!!big £1.50 saving).

I just remember on particular visit we were getting afew things inc one of those wardrobe insert things that look a bit like scaffolding it is really important to have all the pieces. DS was only little at the time so when we got to the pick up aisle bit (after our usual long meander through the market hall getting things we had no idea we needed) i stopped on a display chair to BF while DH galantly wandered off to collect all our things he managed to get everything but 1 pole for the wardobe bit which made the whole thing useless, he was really disappointed as it was the main thing we came for and really needed it. He was just about to give up hope and come back to me dejected when he noticed a couple having a very heated arguement, the man stormed off in a huff followed by his wife leaving their trolley full of unbought stuff behind, DH saw in their trolley the pole we needed and quickly pounced. He came to me very proud of himself and hoping the couple didn't come back as it would not have helped their moods.

at veggie's DH! You realise you were probably the cause of their subsequent bitter divorce when they got home, realised they had forgotten the pole and each accused the other of losing it?

Lal I'm so pleased your acupuncture helped a bit. MS is soooo miserable - you kind of start to forget what it's like to NOT feel sick, don't you?

Veggiemummy · 10/08/2008 15:58

i know we were kind of hoping the initial storm off row was so bad that they never came back to the trolley. Steve said the guy was a bit nasty so prob better for her anyway.

I'm so tired this afternoon poor DS who is feeling better and has some energy is desperate to play catch and football out the back but i am so tired i needed a little nap so just stuck cbeebies on, think he is getting a bit sick of it.

rosmerta · 11/08/2008 08:09

veggie, lol @ trolley nicking! I'm quite impressed he thought of it tbh!

Weather seems nicer today, am meeting a few friends for a picnic this morning, hope it stays dry now!

chutneymary · 11/08/2008 08:14

Am off to Ikea myself this am to sort out the furniture for DDs' bedroom. It is the one in Purley Way. My car could drive there by itself.

No DDs, no Dh, just me and a lot of shoppers. May have a meatball lunch toute seule. Must resist urge to buy most of market place. Last time "oh, it's so cheap, i'll just get that" cost me about £200 (inc some furniture etc).

Hope all are well today.

EffiePerine · 11/08/2008 08:35

Lal: glad the acupuncture helped, albeit temporarily

waitinggirl: doesn;t sound like SPD to me, more like a UTI? I;'ve been getting a few pains as well so am trying to drink more water in the hope the staving off an infection. Def have a word with your mw, if it is a UTI you may need antibiotics.

Am shuddering at all the IKEA stories, we made a vow NEVER to go there again after our last experience (at Wembley) and have kept to it so far... thw whole experience from wandering around like a load of cattle to hefting stuff off palates and queuing for hours horrifies me.

Wet weekend here, plus DS managed to total the computer with with some pineapple juice which meant a trip for D into town to buy a new one (he;s a freelance IT bod and writer so it's pretty essential). We're hoping to fox the laptop with a new keyboard, but all very expensive!

JamInMyWellies · 11/08/2008 08:45

Morning everyone,

oh the wonders of Ikea nd what it can do to a perfectly healthy relationship. I 5th 6th 7th the Edmnton one. Oh and defo the meatballs mmm yummy.

Thanks fo rht kind thoughts for my sis and niece. She is now out of neonatal and doing well. She has horrible bruises on her head from the ventouse and then forceps. My sis and her DP got her weight wrong they converted her to 9lbs odds when actually she is 7lb 5ish. DOH! The BF is happening but a bit slow I think as long as she gets support from the midwifes all will be ok. I was vv when I saw her latch on beautifully and wiht no pain for my sis. DS had tongue tie and we had terrible trouble sorting out BF. But I fear I may become a bit of a BF militant as I wanted to get in there and offer all advice I could about positioning and what to do. .

Off to start my day DS is still asleep we didnt get home until nearly 10 last night and the poor soul stayed awake all the way home. Shame my bladder and the mini munch didnt allow me a lie in.

Have a good one

EffiePerine · 11/08/2008 08:52

Glad it's good news and the baby is out of neonatal Jam . Well done to your sis on the bfing as well, with that rocky start.

mibbes · 11/08/2008 09:38

Jam great news about DSIS and her baby, so pleased all is working out for them.

off sick today with upset tummy and headache - not sure if I've eaten something dodgy or have caught a bug, either way I can only face water

Anyone got their 20 week scan today ?

Beans33 · 11/08/2008 09:54

Poor mibbes, hope you feel better soon. I'm tempted to pull a sickie this week, as boss is away. But not sure it's really worth it - might save it til I'm bigger!

I've got a bit of a personal question today...

I have a white spot on my right nipple and it is getting a little bigger - just wondering if anyone knows what it might be? It's not sore or anything, but it's making me nervous!

GettingBiggerBird · 11/08/2008 09:57

Jam pleased your dsis and baby are now OK.

Lowrib I really hope we don't meet in the Homerton on Christmas Day! A week before would be better by me .

Just recovering from doing myself an injury barndancing on Saturday - I managed one dance and I think it was the combo of trying to dance, laugh and find some stomach muscles that went awry, I had to sit down for the rest of the party. I don't think the babies were very impressed - my bump was tight for ages afterwards. I had loads of random bump stroking too, it was very hard not to recoil from some people. Most of you probably aren't big enough to be getting too much of that yet?

Beans33 · 11/08/2008 10:08

Hey GBB - I've had one incident of bump-stroking, which made me move away. I actually don't mind/quite like my friends doing it, but a girl at work came up and clamped her hand onto it and I could feel my arms coming up to give her a bit of a slap - managed not to, but retreated fast and gave her a horrified look! Think she got the hint as she went bright pink. Oops! but it is a bit personal.

EffiePerine · 11/08/2008 10:18

Beans: is it on the aureole? In which case it is pretty common, can't remember what it's called but it's to do with your milk coming in (I think). I have a few of them which never quite went away! OTOH if it looks a bit yeasty and the nip is sore it might be thrush.

EffiePerine · 11/08/2008 10:19

mibbes: is your scan today? Mine's tomorrow and must be one of the last of the 20 weekers.

mibbes · 11/08/2008 10:35

Effie I had mine 2 weeks ago - good luck tomorrow

Beans33 · 11/08/2008 10:36

thanks, Effie - it's not on the arueole, but on the actual nipple bit! Bit embarrassing!

RhinestoneCowgirl · 11/08/2008 10:39

Effie - I have my scan this afternoon, I'm 21 weeks and feeling it a bit. DH took a pic of my belly last night and I was a bit at how big it looked.

I have been sleeping with my v-shaped pillow from last time round wedged between my knees. Not that much sleep happened in our house last night [haggard]. DS woke up just as I was drifting off last night, then was restless for an hour in with us until I gave up and put him back in his cot and went to sleep on the single bed in his room. He was tossing and turning all night and is really whingy and clingy today, deep joy...

Veggiemummy · 11/08/2008 10:41

Just a tip on UTI's to improve your chances of preventing them and to help get rid of them as well as drinking lots of water a couple of glasses of cranberry juice are a help. There is a component in cranberry juice which stops bugs attaching to the wall of the bladder and urinary tract so very handy for flushing them out. Obviously you should also get yourself checked out for a UTI and take antibiotics if you need them as if a UTI goes untreated it's not a good thing.

GBB giggling at your barn dancing injury, i hear it is being considered as an extreme sport

Jam i wold offer any advice you have it would be nice for your dsis to get some advice from someone she knows & trusts. I don't think it would be meddling or militant but kind of a nice sisterly thing.

Beans it maybe a skin tag or something you can get a lot of these while pregnant, but wouldn't hurt to get someone to have a look, call MW or gp maybe.

we have an appoint with an independent midwife from Nottingham tomorrow, so happy they have availability she sounds really nice.

Veggiemummy · 11/08/2008 10:48

mibbes you poor thing take care, you could try a rehdrating powder from the chemist to sip to help keep your sugar & salts up.

Effie can you claim the laptop on insurance?

Indith · 11/08/2008 10:51

Ah yes Rosmerta that is where I'm going wrong, I just don't spend wnough time on here Think ds might disagree though.

Jam I'm glad your sister is doing well, she's obviously one tough cookie to keep at the bf with a tough start.

Mibbles hope you feel better soon

at bump touching, really don't understand why people think it is ok to randomly stroke parts of your body.

Have fun at the scans

Am watching videos of the Cambridge Folk Festival and sulking that I wasn't there. Humph, if dp thinks I'm not going to a festival next year he's got another thing coming

Beans33 · 11/08/2008 10:56

God, shocking news here at work. A girl who was 5 weeks behind me has lost her baby. So so sad. I am trying not to cry, but they keep leaking out. Poor poor thing.

Breaks my heart. It's going to be so hard for her to come back to work as we all knew.

I know it sounds awful and I don't want to make it about me in any way, but I know I'm going to feel bad about my bump, if you know what I mean. Just won't know how to react. God, poor girl.

Indith · 11/08/2008 11:03

Oh Beans the poor love

Beans33 · 11/08/2008 11:09

I know, heartbreaking.

Sorry to be a bit of a downer today. Will be chirpy again at some stage. Sorry.

Veggiemummy · 11/08/2008 11:18

oh beans that is horrible, obviously happy it didnt happen to you but will make it hard for you as you will be aware that you are a reminder to her of her loss, so in that way quite hard for you. Take it easy today beans as you already said you were feeling like having a sickie today.
