Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Veggiemummy · 05/08/2008 21:10

ah ok then rosemerta will eat it guilt free now.

theyoungvisiter · 05/08/2008 21:59

I am leaking colustrum again as of a week or two ago - which is weird because I am still bfing and never leaked milk. I can't quite understand why I should leak colustrum instead? There's certainly a lot less there than there was milk (if that makes sense).

Don't wake up with a wet top though - that's pretty impressive! Just a stained crust on the inside of my bras - blurgh.

I'm not a big fan of birth-potty nappies - we bought some size 2 fluffles from tots bots which claimed to be usable as birth-potty - in reality DS was swamped and we ended up getting some size ones and then using the size 2s when he got to 6 months.

Don't get me wrong - they are brilliant nappies! I just think that using them on a newborn is a bit of a struggle!

EffiePerine · 06/08/2008 07:42

Lovely to hear from you GBB

Rosmerta: glad you're feeling better. Did you have a chat with DH?

Waiting: good luck for today

So much for healthy eating here: succumbed to special offers on Wheat Crunchies, Niknaks and Cornettos at the supermarket then DH came home with cream cakes . Am off to buy loads of fruit today to compensate

pixsix: hope all is going OK

Veggiemummy · 06/08/2008 07:58

goodmorning everybody well it's a cbeebies marathon for me today, DS has a temp so no nursery for today. wish the ocado delivery with my chocolate treats was coming a little earlier the first slot i could book was 5-6pm.

waiting what time is your scan.

rosmerta · 06/08/2008 08:54

veggie poor ds, hope he's not too ill.

effie I did have a chat with dh, he apologised as soon as he got home from work so all ok in the end!

waiting good luck for the scan today

Beans33 · 06/08/2008 09:13

Morning! I'm very jealous of everyone's DH's bringing them home creamcakes/chocolate etc. Mine brings broccolli and courgettes and things. I have to compensate by having a chocolate chiller from Eat this morning. Has anyone else discovered them? If not, I would thoroughly recommend it. No idea how many calories and think it's best not to know!!! But quite delicious. Trying to only have them once or twice a week

Feel justified as went for a swim this morning....

How is everyone today? I went to bed at 9.00 last night. Finally got to sleep at 1am and then wide awake at 6. Minging. I think I've got that restless leg thing, as wanted to keep moving my right leg all the time - most uncomfortable. DH even slept in our spare room for me. He can be lovely sometimes. Oh and I could hear a mozzy buzzing around me and couldn't seem to kill it. Woken up with bitten left arm!

Waitinggirl - GOOD LUCK! Let us know how you got on.
GBB - WOW! That's brilliant news - a boy and a girl - perfect combo - well done you!

Veggiemummy · 06/08/2008 11:10

at the moment DS is ok in himself just has a high temp and doesn't want anything to eat or drink. he'll be fine just happy giving lots of cuddles. i imagine it will be difficult to do this sort of thing (sitting around cuddling sick boys) when the next one comes along.

LadyThompson · 06/08/2008 11:15

GBB, that's really lovely about a boy and a girl.

Pixsix, how are you feeling?

Waiting, we'll all be waiting...to hear how you get on.

Anyone know what I can usefully do with my Swiss ball? I read somewhere that just bouncing up and down on it whilst doing Pelvic Floors is as good as anything but that seems a bit feeble. Do they use them on the Davina dvd? Haven't bought it yet.

Morning all

ladyT I was going to ask the same question, I don't have one but interested. What do you do, and what does it do for me *(and baby zj)?

Congratulations GBB - one of each sounds perfect.

Waiting my fingers are crossed for you.

So, I went to my first aquanatal class last night - I enjoyed it til the fire alarm went off and we all had to stand outside in our cossies for 20 minutes! Luckily my towel fitted round me, unlike the heavily pregnant lady who's towel wouldn't meet round her bump! So we missed all the nice floating round and breathing and just got to do the hard work, fingers crossed next week we get to the nice stuff.

Have a good day everyone

ZJ.x

waitinggirl · 06/08/2008 11:25

thanks to all for messages - scan was this morning - all is fine - baby was there, was moving, kicking, swallowing, looked like it was sucking its thumb and reclining with arms behind head (sunbathing?) and sonographer said he wouldn't expect me to feel anything for another 2-3 weeks. it looks like it's got a massive forehead (runs in dh's family - so no need to panic about paternity validation, then)

so PANIC OVER (until the next one sets in, that is) - it wasn't really a panic, i suppose, but just that niggling doubt and fear which i suppose never goes away, and feeling slightly left out as a lot of other people seem to be feeling so much so soon.

thank you all for support - and good luck for those with upcoming scans/tests/results.

i've now got to start learning how to really enjoy the next 20 weeks. am going to suggest a window shopping visit to ikea/mothercare/mamas and papas this weekend to dh - then we'll be pannicked by PRICES!

thanks all so much!

pixsix · 06/08/2008 12:01

Morning everyone,

waiting so glad to hear your scan went well.

Thanks for asking how I'm feeling, the bleeding seems to have almost completely stopped now and I've felt the baby moving this morning so I'm trying to be positive. I'm going to have another quiet day today and then hopefully will feel like getting back to normal tomorrow.

Thanks for all the understanding and good wishes.

waitinggirl · 06/08/2008 12:15

pixsix - thinking of you - really glad the bleeding has pretty much stopped and that the little one is moving - must be such a comfort.

hang on in there - when are you next seeing someone about it?

Veggiemummy · 06/08/2008 12:16

good to hear waiting and having a quiet day sounds like a good idea.

I have to admit last time i only used the fitball to lean forward onto when leaning back on the couch to watch tele had become uncomfortable so mainly the last week. DH & I have one each as we used to use them for core strength training and for a chair to sit at the computer. So the fact i didnt use it for anything exercise wise durin pregnancy made me feel better.

Today would normally be my yoga day i wish i had gone to that yoga class yesterday as today will be a sitting around day. Might see if DS will continue sitting watching Cbeebes while i put on some yoga in the next room.

Sorry i'm, a little dull today didnt someone have a bug of some sort a gastro bug. hope whoever it was is ok?

Beans how you holding up with the tiredness at work after you dif night.

Beans33 · 06/08/2008 12:17

pixsix - that's a great relief - well done you.

What happens at midwife/GP appointments from here on in? I have one tomorrow.

Veggiemummy · 06/08/2008 12:18

oh that was supposed to be pixstix having a quiet day, in fact hope you all have a nice quiet day.

Beans33 · 06/08/2008 12:20

Veggie - holding up ok thank you - was busy night! also, on a good note, the beastie was kicking away which also kept me up as I was very excited! I'm sure I'll get used to it and find it less exciting soon! But hopefully not for a while.

Purple79 · 06/08/2008 12:23

Afternoon, haven't been on since last week. Glad waiting your scan went well and to GBB brilliant your having one of each, perfect!

veggie hope ds feels better soon after lots of cuddles

Nothing really been going on this end, have been really upbeat lately and excited about the birth cant wait to hold the little one for the first time, all soft & new. This is my first, feeling so much love for him/her already... can you tell?

Re buying stuff family & friends have offered to buy whatever we need, so a list is something i must to, hopefully will be easier to sort out what things we actually need.. thanks for the tips ladies very useful.

Hope everyones well xxx

mibbes · 06/08/2008 12:34

waiting great news, I am so pleased for you. We went baby shopping the weekend after 20 week sscan as felt more confident about things - it was great and helped reality to set in !

pixsix am so glad the bleeding has stopped and the baby is kicking

abbemeg how are you feeling today ?

Beans I seem to feel kicking more when I go to bed and wake up - maybe it is the lying down that helps - either way I like it then am not as keen when am trying to concentrate but all i can feel is the wriggler in my belly !

Veggie I was supposed to do Erin last night but ended up being lazy - must try harder ! And must fit in Tara this week too

I have done the Davina and there are no exercise ball routines I'm afraid. I thought their main use was to sit on and roll back and forth to get baby into position prior to the birth... is that wrong ?

Beans33 · 06/08/2008 12:34

Veggie - forgot to wish your DS better - poor you - probably exhausting when preggy too.

Mmm, lunchtime...

rosmerta · 06/08/2008 12:53

Hi all, been out shopping this morning to get a portable potty (for ds I might add!) and managed to come back with a scooter as well!

Re exercise balls, I have one, just find it comfortable to sit on, its good for your posture as it encourages you to sit more upright and helps the baby to get into the right position. Plus in labour they're good if you kneel on the floor, rest your head and arms on and then gently move in small circles. And that's a good position for your dh/dp to massage your back as well

rosmerta · 06/08/2008 12:53

oops, waiting glad your scan went well!

pixsix glad you're feeling better as well, a quiet day is probably a good idea

theyoungvisiter · 06/08/2008 13:15

waitinggirl so pleased the scan went well!

I loved my exercise ball - they are really great for labour too - they make a good compromise between standing and sitting/squatting - less tiring than either I found.

Veggiemummy · 06/08/2008 13:55

aaaahhh feel good now just did the Tara Lee full practice was difficult to get completely into it as DS kept popping to see how i was doing i lay a towel next to my matt so he could join in if he wanted too but soon became bored only tried to climb on or under me a couple of times and mainly just came in gave me a cuddle in whatever position i was in then left. Feel much better now i have done it. Mibbes was it you that mention the lunge that your yoga teacher said not to do was that during the sun salutation? I think i know which one it is.

am so hungry now have to shower then eat.

Veggiemummy · 06/08/2008 13:57

the arms on the ball for small circle movements sounds good i had trouble on all fours as my arms got sore, was usually resting on DH's legs or on the birthing stool.

hattyyellow · 06/08/2008 14:04

Waitinggirl really glad your scan went well .

Abbeymeg are you feeling any better? I had a nasty food poisoning bout with my twins at about 14 weeks and was terrified - they were absolutely fine.

Purple what a lovely post, you sound so happy and your little one will be very lucky to have such a lovely mum .

Beans your chocolate thing sounds lovely - do you think Eat do mail order cos sadly I'm nowhere near one! I have been going through a major chocolate couple of days, limiting myself to dark chocolate as I can't eat as much!

GBB congrats on one of each! At least you know they're definitely not idential now although you'd be amazed how many people still ask that question to my friends with b/g twins!

I'm a bit worried that I'm not thinking about this pregnancy enough/bonding enough . Life is so so manic at the moment with two toddlers about to turn 3, my work is really stressful, housework is never ending, DH is just about to launch a new business and my mum's not well.

It's like I don't have time to think about being pregnant. I make sure I sit down and have lunch everyday, I'm trying to eat and drink relatively healthily and rest but there's not a lot of time to! I try and have a long bath every other night but my brain is too tired to do much baby communing! I tend to just lie there!

I'm starting antenatal yoga classes at the beginning of September when the creche re-opens at the gym so hopefully that'll help create a dedicated time each week to relax with my baby. I almost forget I'm pregnant most of the time apart from when I have a scan or midwife appointment and then I have such a rush of love and excitement, but obviously that's not every day. Please tell me this isn't affecting my baby . Sorry for me me me!
