Beans33 · 31/07/2008 16:07

7th December rocks!

Purple79 · 31/07/2008 16:19

Hi Ebs welcome congratulations on finding out you've got a little girl on the way.
Alot of my family live in different parts of Kent, The Garden of England as they say!! Lovely.
Im in Rotherhithe, London due 17th Dec.

I haven't yet indulged in any maternity wear yet, but will definately be getting a pair of those elasticated jeans - probably get some this weekend as i can no longer fir comfortably fit into any of mine...

Ebs26 · 31/07/2008 16:29

Thanks for the warm welcome all - I agree that 7th Dec rocks! Lol

Beans - not heard of Borough Green - but am in Gravesend so usually meet mates for coffee at Bluewater as very close. Strangely - have lived here nearly 3 years but know London much better as originally a SE London girl - miss it but no way could afford a mortgage there! Finding it tough meeting people locally so may have to commuting to socialise.

Pixsix - I've only just started feeling baby move properly a few days ago so try not to worry - apparently it's more prominent during wk 23 for 1st timers.

Purple79 - try Debenhams for maternity wear - some very nice stuff and lots of sales at mo.

zoejeanne · 31/07/2008 16:31

I like that Mamas and Papas skirt, and not just for the price! Think I'll head over that way soon - thanks beans

Does anyone else have issues with maternity jeans? The big stretchy band looks most itchy, hot and uncomfortable to me and at the moment I'm thinking I'll be better of without jeans rather than succumbing to that! Or am I just wierd?

Welcome Ebs, and congratulations on finding out you have a little girl on the way

Z.x

Beans33 · 31/07/2008 16:34

Ooh, the link I sent before are the MOST comfy jeans I've ever had, ZJ. In case you missed it, these are them.

They really are so comfortable and not smart, but brilliant for casual bbqs or just lazing around the house. I love mine!

Olipop · 31/07/2008 16:41

They look really comfy. I must admit I haven't worn my jeans since I bought them as it's been so hot! I'm living in some black long shorts (IYKWIM) from dorothy perkins.

Olipop · 31/07/2008 16:42

........or just pants if I can get away with it!

Ebs26 · 31/07/2008 16:42

Thanks zoejeanne. Thinks it's just too hot for any trousers! I haven't been able to wear socks, shoes or trousers for quite some time. 3 1/4 lengths and sandles for me.

Purple79 · 31/07/2008 16:43

Oooh thanks Ebs think i'll get my expanding bump down there this weekend . albeit linen trousers are the most comfortable at the moment..

Ebs26 · 31/07/2008 16:44

They look fab Beans but only go upto size 16 - - I'm an 18 now (a little chunky prior so can't blame baby lol)

Beans33 · 31/07/2008 16:50

I'm a size 14 usually, but these ones are quite big in that size - plenty of room for me to expand... Might be worth giving them a go and seeing how the are?

Apparently H&M are brilliant for maternity jeans - and cheap as chips.

Doozie · 31/07/2008 16:52

Hi everyone - I'm glad you found us EBs.

Good luck to everyone with scans coming up - let us know how you get on.

I definitely think the contractions have stopped now with the drugs. Dr didn't say if they were BH or whatever the French equivalent may be, he just referred to them as contractions. Maybe they were as my cervix was still closed which was a relief. He also took more tests and I should find out the results tomorrow. Hopefully it is all good news.

However the drugs to stop the uterine wall contracting also stop one's intestine moving along as usual. Because I'm getting a little pressure down that way, but nothing is happening, I'm upping my dosage of raspberry flavoured jelly shit starter. It is actually quite nice so it is very easy to have more than you're meant to. However nothing has happened yet, but I'm having flash backs to the Sex in the City movie where Charlotte is caught on the hop and has a her accident so now I'm feeling a little housebound until something happens!

Also no luck yet with the DVD kicking test. I think the bub is only up to wobbles. I tried changing the DVD in case it was a matter of taste but it made no difference. I've gone cross eyed watching my belly.

I will also test the theory in 3+ months time, that since they are less active, maybe they are girl.

Keep the chocolate theories coming!

Olipop · 31/07/2008 16:59

right I'm off shortly but .....TRA LA LA.....have broadband at home now, just need to encourage DS to allow me some PC time!!!
Hope you all have good weeks if I don't catch up before next wednesday xx

Beans33 · 31/07/2008 17:00

hee hee! I like the changing the DVD idea, Doozie! Very funny! It wasn't that kicky - quite wobbly, but they felt really big.

So glad the drugs are working, but hope you don't get caught short. Make sure you wear your trousers tucked into your socks/boots on any trips to the shops etc!!! hee hee!

Beans33 · 31/07/2008 17:11

PS Also meant to say good luck with the results tomorrow - sure it will all be ok.

x

rosmerta · 31/07/2008 17:19

blimey, you've all been chatty today!

Beans, I've got some of those jeans as well, v comfy! ebs I'm usually a size 18 but they were too big, plenty of room in the size 16. And welcome btw!

Must remember to order the Tara Lee dvd! Also, went to the library today and got a book out which had been recommended to me. Its called There's a house inside my mummy. I've read it to ds a couple of times already and he seems to be getting the idea of the baby now which he hasn't done before. There's a nice description of the baby sleeping in a giant bathtub

rosmerta · 31/07/2008 17:20

Meant to also say glad the scans are going well, & Doozie, hope you get good results tomorrow

rosmerta · 31/07/2008 17:45

Re maternity clothes, I've been bidding on a dress on ebay and I've just been pipped to the post. Booo!

Veggiemummy · 31/07/2008 17:50

wow you guys have been busy. DS had a fab time at soft play got adopted by some older kids who looked after him and i spent the afternoon reading the paper...nice.

i had things to add as i read along the posts but i can't remember any of them, i'm so brain dead and tired this afternoon i think Erin & her husband wore me out this morning.

Oh the one thing i did remember was 7th Dec is an awesome date, it's my birthday.

Veggiemummy · 31/07/2008 17:53

oh and so far the DVD's have been in the the player, but was just thinking that this DVD idea could catch on Beans before you know it pregnant women all over the UK (and france Doozie) will be putting DVD's on their bellies as a way of connecting with their babies, MW's will be recommending it.

Veggiemummy · 31/07/2008 18:06

oh remembering stuff now. Last pregnancy i wore only under bump trousers and jeans and DS was quite high so these were comfortable ad suited me, swore i would never wear the over bump elastic ones, this babyveggie is really low and i can't bear sitting down in the under bump ones and so got the over bump ones kind of capri shorts things from H&M and they are sooooooo comfortable, love them.

pixsix · 31/07/2008 18:07

I think I need to try the DVD test too Beans, are you supposed to put the DVD and case on there or just the DVD on its own??
