New thread, people, unless someone else has started one...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
EffiePerine · 31/07/2008 13:39

I think there's a later one than mine (I'm due right at the end of Dec but will be 20w - isn;t someone having one at 22 weeks?). Pg brain hitting here

Feeling sick and tired, sorely tempted to leave work early and head home...

EffiePerine · 31/07/2008 13:40

bugger just realised am on desk backup till 3 so not much chance

Purple79 · 31/07/2008 13:47

Yep... my scan's on wed 13th I'll be 22 weeks on that day. I thought it might be a bit late aswell - I had to put my 1st scan back a week so I think im a week or so behind if it works like that?

Purple79 · 31/07/2008 13:53

Just got back from lunch and now extremely tired.. seriously eyes are half closed. wish I had Dorothy shoes on - just click my heels 3 times....

Beans33 · 31/07/2008 13:53

Crikey, all you breast-feeders. I'm thinking I'll be lucky if I do two months, let alone 2 years!!! Wow!

Beans33 · 31/07/2008 14:01

I've eaten a delicious lunch with rice and chicken and stuff. Very full, though. trying to give myself a bit of a sluggish-banishing boost by having a diet coke. But not sure I've got room!

Oh well.

I wish I didn't have to work. Although just over 3 months to go - 7th November is my last day in the office - hurray! 70 working days... minus a few days holiday and doubtless some sickies - so say around 60 - hurray!

EffiePerine · 31/07/2008 14:02

ah but Beans you have to remember that compareid to the first 2 months, the second year is dead easy

I'm sure I ended up being an 'extended' bfer from laziness rather than conviction!

Olipop · 31/07/2008 14:21

Hello - just back from swimming and scoffing a spud and cheese.....I'm going to be asleep in approx 10 mins!
I'm the last scan I think - mines not til 21st of Aug, I think they just do them quite late in my area.

Beans33 · 31/07/2008 14:23

Gosh, that's not for ages, Oli. When are you due again? How many weeks will you be then?

Who else is it who lives in Battersea?

Olipop · 31/07/2008 14:33

Tell me about it!!!! I'm due on the 28th so will be.....................erm.......had to get my diary out! 21 1/2 weeks.

TheInvisibleHand · 31/07/2008 14:37

My scan isn't till 18th, but I'm not due till the 31st and will be 21 weeks when I have it.

Anyone else struggling with clothes? Thought I'd try maternity skirt for work the other day as none of my usual stuff is fitting anymore. Was powering my way through the tube station and suddenly realised skirt had headed down to my ankles . Luckily this is London so everyone pretended not to notice...

EF - hope the hormones settle out. My DD self weaned at around 9 months. Cut down feeds and just refused one morning point blank. Kept trying for a few days, but no. It was really upsetting at the time, but just like her, she is a stubborn little monkey! Wouldn't bottle feed instead either.

Beans33 · 31/07/2008 14:43

Clothes aren't too bad - in fact the maternity jeans I borrowed from a friend are now too tight - although they're under bump and I definitely prefer over bump ones. These are amazing! So comfy. But think the under bump ones were a size 12 and from H&M - I'm usually a size 14.

My DH bought me a lovely pair of maternity PJs from Mothercare for my bday and he got a size 16 for my bum to expand into. I tried them on for him and they're a little bit tight - aaaaaagh! hee hee!

Beans33 · 31/07/2008 14:44

Can anyone recommend an office-friendly skirt for maternity - preferably plain black and a bit more wintry? I can't find one I like that doesn't cost a fortune - looking at £25 tops!

TheInvisibleHand · 31/07/2008 14:57

Beans - had something like that from M&S last time round. Not very exciting, but did the job (and not the offending collapsing skirt, which was a rather more extravagant buy from Formes)

zoejeanne · 31/07/2008 15:03

I'm after a skirt too (I'm not a trousers person) - why are all maternity skirts floaty? I've just looked on the M&S website, but no skirts at all! Think I'll head into a store. beans let me know if you find anything

Beans33 · 31/07/2008 15:03

Oh thank you! Formes are quite extravagant, but actually for smart trousers, I think they're probably worth it. I'm going to head there when winter collection comes in. At moment it's all a bit summery for me.

Beans33 · 31/07/2008 15:06

i will do.

I've got quite a few maternity clothes online places, which are good. If you google these:

Mamas & Papas
Seraphine
JoJo Maman Bebe
from here to maternity
Truly Madly Baby (which should be up and running soon)

Some of their stuff is good, but think in shops are probably best. Mamas and Papas have a good skirt for £20 this one I just haven't got round to buying it yet - only £20!

GettingBiggerBird · 31/07/2008 15:06

Formes has a good sale on at the moment, some of the stuff is 70% off. I think there were some smart tighter skirts but not sure about black ones. I got two great pairs of jeans to grow into.

Ebs26 · 31/07/2008 15:30

Hello ladies - may I join in?

Have only recently joined mumsnet so bit of a novice and was pleased to find this thread after some advice.

Due 7th December (DC#1) - and found out on Monday that it's going to be a lil girl! As this is my first - finding the mood swings and tears and sense of loneliness pretty overwhelming and don't even ask how my DH is feeling! Lol. Poor thing hasn't ever seen me like this and I think he's a lttle scared.

I see you guys arrange meets and would be great to come along if okay. It would be great to compare stories and compare bumps! Am located in Kent but not too problematic to travel to London if that's the only place meets are being held at mo. Unless there are other Kent mums-to-be who fancy meeting up more locally???

Congrats to you all!

Beans33 · 31/07/2008 15:33

Hi Ebs - gosh, poor you. If it's any consolation, hopefully you'll start feeling happier soon. I was really low for ages, but am now feeling amazing. Literally in a matter of a couple of days.

Due the same date as you.

Whereabouts in Kent are you? My parents live down near Borough Green, if that means anything to you!

abbymeg · 31/07/2008 15:33

Ah ha! So Ebs, I see you got here before my post on the other thread.

Welcome! And congratulations on your scan.

Hello Ebs and welcome!
It's a traumatic time for all concerned! There will be happy spells too I promise!

Leading on from the meetups, those who met me will know that I am most certainly not a size 8 but I treated myself to some Formes jeans and I had to take the 10's (which I thought was a bit of a laugh in the first place as that I usually wear 12's) back and she gave me 8's which were a perfect fit!!! It was worth buying them just to say that I have size 8 jeans!!!!! I think that the only other time I might have been able to say that was when sizes were done by age!

pixsix · 31/07/2008 15:46

Welcome Ebs, I'm sure Beans will agree that 7th Dec is a great day to be expectiny your first baby

Effie and TYV thanks for the reassurance, I'm feeling the baby move more today so feeling better about everything.
