Hi girls

Just a quickie from me I'm afraid - still got rotten sinus trouble and feel shocking. Thanks for the good wishes Rosmerta, that's very kind.

BF - i didn't think I#d do it for as long as I did, but it is so much easier than bottles. When you go out, you need nappy, wipes, muslin - that's it. No faffing with bottles, powder, water etc. At night, you just whip a boob out and go back to sleep. I'd recommend it on the grounds of idleness alone.

Scans - I'm on 13th Aug. Will be 23 w by then. They do them late round here. Had the MW yest and my placenta is right on the front so it took ages to fine the HB. Means movement harder to feel as well - well, that and my lardy tummy of course!

Clothes - I'm a big fan of Isabella Oliver, which is a bit pricey for me unless you get it on Ebay. I had a couple of bits from DD1 which are still going on well. I also like Next and Blooming marvellous. Am not getting much though, as I only work 2 days a week and wear jeans the rest of the time.

Have got to go. Feel awful, plus we had kids over today and the house looks like a bomb's gone off. Hope all are well. Love to everyone.

mibbes · 31/07/2008 21:04

welcome Ebs, congrats on baby girl !
I have just read my notes from 20 wk scan and it says I have an anterior placenta which would explain the lack of movement - phew ! In fact when I do feel anything it tends to be high up, low down or at the side, I guess that is because placenta is blocking the front of my tummy
that some of you ladies are still wearing non-mat clothes ! I've been in them for weeks - fave at the moment are linen trousers and under bump jeans both from Red Herring.

Doozie · 31/07/2008 21:15

Thanks for the tip Beans! Hee, hee, hee. Probably too much information, but I'm having rumblings so fingers crossed for some action! Don't worry, I will not keep you posted!

Turniphead did you mention uncomfortable boobs in bed?... From very early on my boobs were killing me and doubled in size so I got some sleeping bras to stop them from sliding under my arm pits. I ordered three different kinds from Blooming Mavellous (mail order) and they are very comfy, soft, no clips or wires. My favourite is this one. The others that they suggest on this page are the other ones I have.

waitinggirl · 31/07/2008 21:25

just bought 4 tops from H&M for £10 each and they are really nice - i'd even wear them if i weren't up the duff. and having something which shows off my (enormous for 19 weeks) bump seems to cut through the invisibility which i seemed to possess on the tube - people are now beginning to stand up for me. occasionally...

rosmerta · 31/07/2008 21:32

waitinggirl sounds like a bargain! I'm currently browsing Ebay for some clothes, got a couple of things on watch!

Doozei yes, no updating us from the loo please

Veggiemummy · 31/07/2008 21:40

oh Chutney you poor thing you need a good long sleep and a lie in, but by the sounds of it that is not gonna happen. take care of yourself, lots of hot lemon and honey, shame you can't pop a shot of whiskey into you, although it is only a nip.

am just watching an old episode of Dragons Den Debra Meadan has def had surgery, she has lost those doggy bangs.

i wear bravado bras at night. My boobs settled down for a couple of weeks, but suddenly they have...bloomed. Last pregnancy they didnt do much until my my milk came in a couple of days after the birth but this time i get em a bit earlier.

Doozie i seem to have your problem, just eaten and apple cos sometimes that helps move things along.

rosmerta · 31/07/2008 21:47

veggie, I'm telling you she's done it for Theo

Veggiemummy · 31/07/2008 21:55

LOL in capital letters

well if she has done that he could at least gets his teeth sorted.

oh now i do feel ill.

rosmerta · 31/07/2008 21:56

I'm sorry veggie, didn't mean to make you feel ill!

waitinggirl · 31/07/2008 22:00

what is this obsession with dragons' den? have i missed something?

re: scans - have ours on wed - trying to be as optimistic and upbeat as poss - have no reasons not to be, apart from the not moving thing and general paranoia.

off to north wales tomorrow to the in-laws for dh's b'day and his cousin's daughter's christening. means i get to see the clan, (and when i say clan, i mean clan - his mum is one of 5 sisters, each with 2 children, almost all of whom will be there) and then i don't have to see them again for the rest of the year.

MIL has already asked whether we will be using the family christening robe. oh dear me.... dh has had to plant the idea that we may not even be having a christening and if we do, it won't be a big family one (we are non-believing agnostics who did, however, have a wonderful wedding in a church - long story) - i've just never been to one which i, as a guest, have enjoyed, and indeed, which the mother seems to have enjoyed. any thoughts?

actually - scrub that - what on earth am i talking about christenings for - let's just wait until we've got a healthy screaming bundle in our arms.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 31/07/2008 22:01

Hi all, it's my DS's 2nd birthday today, can't believe time has passed so quickly. We got him a little wooden train set from IKEA and he has spent most of today playing with it.

Effie - I stopped feeding DS about 2 wks ago, was just getting too uncomfortable. I think my supply was really dropping and he had to work hard to get anything out. We were down to jsut morning feed. Now he sometimes has few swigs of cowsmilk or more often we go straight down to brekkie. He still loves my boobs, calls them my 'mulks' and likes to snuggle up to them .

I've finally caved in and bought some mat jeans (all my old mat stuff is 'worky'). They are over bump and soooo comfy, tried under bump but they just didn't feel right. Also a friend has offered to lend me some stuff.

Veggiemummy · 31/07/2008 22:03

no worries, i think it was those bloody sandwiches today, i have actually been feeling dodgy since then.

but am excited about tomorrow what time is your scan Rosemerta?

i think i may have over done it with Erin this morning was going to go for a swim in the morning but might give it a miss. Also have to make a card for DS to send to Cbeebies for them to show on his birthday. i hope i haven't left it too late, it's on the 17th but they say to send it in plenty of time.

Veggiemummy · 31/07/2008 22:10

speaking of stopping BFing, DS always loved my boobs but was discrete in his attentions whilst he was still feeding from them but after he stopped i think he still wanted to have some possession over them and used to randomly grab them in public or pull my top down from the neck so as to check if they were still there or something. I don't know if it just coincided with him turning 2 and he became more aware of stuff or if it was due to not feeding from them anymore. He still does it occasionally and up until my belly started growing he also used to stroke them for comfort if he was upset or when going to bed when we had a little cuddle. Now he uses my belly.

did anyone else have this sort of thing happen?

Veggiemummy · 31/07/2008 22:14

i think it's time for bed i need a good nights sleep so i can get my creative juices flowing for DS's card.

rosmerta · 31/07/2008 22:14

Scan is 9am! What time is yours?

Rhinestone, glad your ds had a good birthday!

Waitinggirl, sounds like you're not looking forward to the weekend? Fwiw, we had a christening for ds but then we're Catholics so pretty much expected for us! We did have a party in the local pub garden afterwards, so lots of fun. I've created a family christening gown, my SIL made it from my wedding dress.

Veggiemummy · 31/07/2008 22:19

oh missed your posting WG glad i don't have to tell your MIL about the no christening thing, but would interested to hear her response. We are lucky, DH's family are buddhist and are fairly chilled with it (though have had some born again charismatic buddhist friends of theirs trying to push things onto us when we visit their temple) and my family religion doesn't have christening only baptism later in life and not compulsory so easy.

Veggiemummy · 31/07/2008 22:20

not until 1.50pm so long to wait. That was nice of our SIL, shame about your wedding dress, though i guess you won't be wearing again.

Veggiemummy · 31/07/2008 22:22

right must go to sleep night night

rosmerta · 31/07/2008 22:22

That was my thought tbh, I knew it wouldn't get worn again & thought it would be a shame to just have it sitting in a box. I liked the idea of making it into the christening gown & at least it will get used for a 2nd time now!

EffiePerine · 01/08/2008 08:49

Veggie: DS pats my bump as well, I guess it's more prominent now! He's started making up little sentences as well and is generally getting very cute. Boobs are 'mik' to him too.

Went home early yesterday and had a nap, feeling much better today but still a bt queasy. Do I remember that some of you had this at about 18 weeks?

Am also starting to get bad heartburn (grrr). I hate gaviscon but couldn't remmebr if anything else was OK.

Mat clothes: I'm still in the larger-size-and-stretchy stuff but I had a lot from H&M last time, cheap and pretty flattering. There were some nice Topshop thigns as well though that can be a bit hit and miss. Next I found good for trousers, esp in the sale

JamInMyWellies · 01/08/2008 09:07

Rosmerta what a great idea, I would have to have a wedding first to then use it for a christening but hey ho could push DP and I in the right direction.

Good luck for the scans today girls.

Another one here feeling a bit dodgy had barely any symptoms for the first trimester and this tri is being a bugger nausea headaches and general tiredness.

Clothes wise am defo in all maternity stuff now. Fpund a couple of great bargains in Crave's online sale. Also got a couple of pairs of shorts from H&M for £3!

Right so it is second time lucky for the garden furniture today have had them guarentee me its coming today but I dont hold out much hope. Begining to think they are a bit of a dodgy company. If so I will be so

Right then ladies will check in later when I am sure there will be another 2 pages to catch up on - you all talk so much!

Veggiemummy · 01/08/2008 09:09

Effie i've been feeling nauseus since i threw up at lunchtime yesterday, if i see something that is vaguely yucky looking i dry reach. I can't remember if i was like this last time, but i know i was vomiting abit around 16-18 weeks so maybe similar thing. maybe just another protective thing for baby. Also my sense of smell is even more heightened, i can smell everything.

Has anyone been having abdominal pain or cramps, i woke up at 3am with cramps on either side of my stomach, are these braxton hicks, it felt like i had loads of wind or bad period pain, i didnt have this last time i'm sure and never got braxton hicks. I'm sure it's fine. I do wonder if this baby is putting pressure on my lower bowel, cheeky thing.

other than all that though i think i got some of Beans happy energy as feeling really positive and starting to enjoy this pregnancy like i did last time.
