Congratulations Jenbot. I hope you will have your little girl home with you soon.

Pacita, I used metanium for dd1 and it worked really really well and cleared up any nappyrashes within a day.

You don't need any toiletries such as baby oil and similar.

potxola · 03/08/2008 20:55

Sassafrass I forgot, Thanks for your advice. I am going to buy Arnica 200C from a homeopahic pharmacy in north Devon. It is 5.20 inc P&P. The guy who runs it has been there for 20 years. I will call him tomorrow and ask him about how often to take it after the C-Section.

ooh another baby!

welcome baby Lara

Jenbot, How are you doing? How was the labor?

Sassafrass · 03/08/2008 21:15

Thanks for the link Potxola. Could you let me know what advice the homeopath gives you?

I've just ordered some books from amazon to bring to the hospital with me. Just need to order the arnica and then I think I'm all set.

LittleConnie · 03/08/2008 21:22

Congratulations Jenbot and welcome to baby Clara
Come back to us when you manage to get a minute spare with a birth story and some pics too! Sounds like she's doing really well.

digitalgirl · 03/08/2008 21:23

Congratulations Jenbot!!

Glad to hear all is well, and welcome little Clara. What a beautiful name.

Looking forward to hearing your birth story.

eandz · 03/08/2008 21:25

** I meant baby Clara.

god, i'm really brain dead these days, huh?

notcitrus · 03/08/2008 21:37

Congratulations jenbot!

Re massage oil - grapeseed is just as good a massage oil for adults as sweet almond, with the extra advantages that you don't need to worry about nut allergy and you can buy it in litre bottles in posh supermarkets so it's much cheaper nowadays than almond!

My local pharmacy sells a 10% arnica solution, ie actually has some in unlike homeopathic solutions, so I might try some (I'm not going to get into a homeopathy debate here, just mentioning that arnica isn't only sold in homeopathic 'doses').

Had my parents round today - they brought dinner, gardened, and gave us a few gifts including a bouncer. Still a bit exhausting though. I'm feeling about as prepared as I can probably get, with confidence levels bouncing from high to low. Anyone else feeling they could ace an exam on the theory of labour and childcare but really nervous about the forthcoming practical??

jearund · 03/08/2008 21:40

Congratulations Jenbot! What a surprise, I bet you weren't expecting to be next! 32 weeks...gulp! I'll be 33 weeks tomorrow! Did you have any warning she might be early or was it a complete shock? Can't wait to hear the birth story. Lovely name by the way. I have a friend called Clara!

blimey · 03/08/2008 23:01

Congratulations Jenbot!
how exciting, lovely name - heidi's friend?

blimey · 03/08/2008 23:03

digitalgirl you can get underwired breastfeeding bras, I haven't bought any yet this year but if you google it should come up trumps
I have worn underwired all through this preg as my poor old saggy boobs do not look good without!

blimey · 03/08/2008 23:05

also anyone who already has kids - letterbox sale just started, they do have baby float seats too and a few little baby toys, but mainly good for older kidz I think

pacita · 03/08/2008 23:30

Many thanks to all the ladies who have shared their pearls of wisdom re: baby essentials.

nellyonthetelly, I bought a bag of raspberry leaf tea from Neal's yard (it looks like mattress stuffing). Do you know what is the right dosage?

kiskidee thanks a lot for the Breast feeding contacts and for being so thorough with my (already anal) list.

Jenbot - Congratulations on baby Clara! Looking forward to birth story too.

kiskidee · 04/08/2008 05:48

If you want almond oil on the cheap pop into Asian Food shops. They sell it as Hair Oil for women.
