Totally see what you mean Hanaflower, having read some of those threads it seems people can be very frank, others say everything is nice and the rest are indifferent! We have had discussions already re: names and it hasn't got over top so I would have thought we'd be ok tho?

TBH I think perhaps it is more the tone of the people in some of those threads that is offensive rather than their point of view itself...

On subject of names I always look for inspiration in books and on tv credits! Change my mind all the time tho!

...and flowerpants?!?!

sparkletoes · 04/07/2008 16:29

What I dislike is when you like a name for ages then it all of sudden becomes really popular & everyone is using it! Years ago I liked Jack (before it was popular & I was even thinking about a baby) and people laughed and said it sounded like an old man's name. Then one of those people called their son Jack recently!

misdee · 04/07/2008 16:31

i dont go for overly popular names.

dd's are Nicole, Lauren and Serena.

if this one if another dd, then will be sinead (or venus if dh has it way lol, no way!)

or a boy, Isaac. but Isaac is getting quite popular, so am trying to find another name i really like.

OK - can people please add a wink to those that are jokes. I am very naive you know!!

Misdee I like your names, they are names you know and can spell but not common - the perfect combination. My name is a ridiculous combination of can't spell and can't say properly which is a pain!!

I reckon Bernie could become popular if you named an Eastenders character that - look at the name Alfie!!

Dozymare · 04/07/2008 17:01

yes i agree - discussing names on this thread will certainly not get any bitchy or malicious comments - if anyone does,I shall waddle round to have a word!!!!!!!!!

Missdee you names are lovely - i really like Sinead...irish connections or do you just love the name???? Issac is not common where i live (london) and is a lovely strong name....do you know the meaning????

For the record, I love Tullalah but DH would defiantely veto that one! I loveds loved bugsy malone as a child and Jodie Foster's character was called that - I must have watched the scene where she sang "my name is tallullah" about 100 times wishing I was her!!!!!

pookamoo · 04/07/2008 17:08

Just popped in to ask if anyone else is suffering from high blood pressure?
I'm having a rotten day today and I'm really sluggish, plus my fingers and toes are all swollen and I've got a pounding headache (which I also had 2 days ago). Rang MW and she said pop in on my way home and she'll check it. She told me off actually because she said I should leave work immediately and go home to rest, via the med centre! Still only half an hour to go... my concentration has gone hence I'm on MN!

sparkletoes · 04/07/2008 17:08

Of course not which is why I have stuck to posting here and not general threads!

I love Irish names too but the one I like for a girl has gone and gotten all popular (always happens to me!)

sparkletoes · 04/07/2008 17:17

Sorry Pookamoo no experience of that (apart from one particularly hot day during pg with DS). They'll check you out tho I'm sure.. let us know how u get on am sure others have experience.

Hi Dozy - yes am very excited!! Are little boys loving to their mums as that's what I've always heard

I can understand the hestation in asking about names as I've seen some of those commens on teh other thread and people are quite venomous at times to each other. I know we would not do that to each other but you never know who is lurking and reading our posts...... ,autumnlady does her Magnum PI impression>

xx

sparkletoes · 04/07/2008 17:30

Autumn mine is!!

OP posts:
Yorky · 04/07/2008 17:36

Congrats on your boy Autumn, I love mine, even though I can't dress him up as I would a girl!
Cricri my email is cathy and rob at hotmail dot com, without the spaces obviously
Homeopathy - definitely see someone rather than DIY, there are so many remedies I would be lost. She has offered me a birth kit for the actual delivery. My initial appt was 1.5hrs - I have never talked about me for so long!
I think Irish and Celtic names are lovely but wouldn't dare use them - how do you teach Siobhan and Sinead to spell?
DS has waved bye bye cheerfully, DH is moping that he misses him adn I am making a complete balls up of trying to paint my fingernails!

sparkletoes · 04/07/2008 17:39

Enjoy your night Yorky! xx
