I think we def have our names now if it is a girl it will def def be Sia and for a boy we are liking Jay at the mo but we had a hard time thinking of boys names when we had DS!
Hope you feel btter soon Pookamoo.
Autumnlady my DS is very lovng too!

AutumnLady · 04/07/2008 18:09

Cool, hope this one grows up to protect mummy in her old age!
We are looking at traditional names for a boy's name and using both grandad's names as middle names.

Bubbaz - Jay was on our list too but have decided not to use it but still think it's a lovely name! Sia is unusual, where does that come from?
xx

bubbaz · 04/07/2008 18:25

Autumnlady it is the name of a singer Sia Fuller she sings with Zero 7 and is also a solo artist(and sang our first dance song which is just coincidence we are NOT that sad!!!). She is big in America and we just really love it, We liked Mia when we had DS but it got so popular and we decided on Sia the day before he was born.I think it is Grecian in origin and was a shortened form of Theodesia. Alot of my family hate it but I am past caring I like it so much!! DS has his grandads name as his middle name and if it is a boy this time will have a different grandad. A girl will be Margaret after my Mam who died when I was 14.

Oblomov · 04/07/2008 18:32

Congratulations Autumnlady
And yes, my ds is very very loving & very very cuddly.
Sorry Pookamoo, can't help.
We have no boys names at all yet. Not good.

AutumnLady · 04/07/2008 18:56

Obs - thanks for that, was worried I wouldn't gert lots of cuddles

bubbaz - I think it's a lovely name, unusual without being weird IMO and so nice to use your mum's name as a middle name. that's the same as my mum's middle name but she hates it and told me never to use it!! Our little man will have Michael and Alan as middle names after both our dad's to keep everyone happy!

bubbaz · 04/07/2008 19:28

Thanks Autumnlady. Good Luck with the name choosing we had a name all picked out for DS and when he was born he just didn't suit it so DH decided to give him a name he had previously claimed not to like .

Dozymare · 04/07/2008 19:53

Quickly popping in whilst dinner is cooking -

bubbaz Theodisia is an absolutely amazing name and shortened to Sia is just beautiful..........really really striking, I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What is your DS called incidentally????

Autumnlady in my experience of boys (all of 5 years!) they totally, totally love their mum's!!! Comparing DS friends (boys vs girls) the boys are all into their mummies - lots of kisses and hugs!!!!!!

Yorky enjoy your grown up night out - I have probably missed you but look forward to hearing all about it!!

DM xx

Dozymare · 04/07/2008 19:54

forgot to say obs DS2 was nameless for 5 days after birth as we couldn't decide as both at polar opposites,,,in the end it was literally the only name we both liked (BUT NOT LOVED!) but actually, we both love it now, it totally suits him (he grew into i guess!!!)

ceebee74 · 04/07/2008 20:14

Evening all - SO many posts again!!

Autumnlady - congratulations on your scan and fantastic news about it being a boy! I am very biased but boys are just fab - and yes, my DS is very loving towards me!

Merry - glad you had a good holiday - welcome back.

I am sure there were other people's posts I wanted to reply to but by the time I had read all 5 pages, I have now forgotten - sorry!

Re names - I am quite happy to discuss my chosen names - you can judge all you want and I promise I won't be upset by any comments For a boy, it is definitely Samuel (Sam) Jake - I love the name Jacob but DS's name begins with a J and I don't really want 2 with the same initials - Sam is literally the only other boys name that both me and Dh can agree on! As for a girl, at the moment (but subject to change) it is going to be Cassie (not Cassandra!) - but struggling for a middle name at the moment. My mum hates it but loves Sam so I told her she better pray we are having a boy .

Whoever said Jay and Sia - lovely names, particularly Sia - unusual but very pretty.

x

sparkletoes · 04/07/2008 21:09

CeeBee! You won't believe it but my DS is Jake (how many more coincidences!!). I love the name and it really suits him which is causing probs with name for DC2 as there aren't any names I love as much so I feel bad for him/her!!

Cassie is really lovely too, as is Sia, Bubbaz both really cool and not over used (incidentally Nicole was also on our girls list last time Misdee but friends have already bagged it this time). I find best not to tell my mum names as she is just a bit too honest in her response ( and usually makes a face). I thought about Carla for girl last time (as it is quite close to my mum's name) but she made a major face so I have decided not to bother and DH doesn't like it anyway...

Know what you mean about losing track of posts, sometimes think I should take notes!

ceebee74 · 04/07/2008 21:15

Sparkletoes - wow, it really is spooky isn't it?? We are actually living parallel lives I know what you mean about not liking any names as much as DS's - we used our 2 favourite names for DS (Joshua Luke) and they suit him so much so thinking of another boys name has been a struggle - whereas girls names are a whole new unexplored territory

My mum is too very honest in her opinions but I am used to it and just ignore her

thomasina1 · 04/07/2008 21:32

So many posts again! Congrats Autumnlady on the scan. I had mine yesterday and was also told that I need a later scan due to low-lying placenta, but I agree, no need to worry at the moment. In fact it could be good as it means I get to see my little GIRL again before she is born!

Re names, we no longer need our boy's name -Sebastian, so maybe chocorange or autumnlady would like it - of course I won't take offence at all if not! At the moment we are thinking of Eleanor for our baby girl.

sparkletoes · 04/07/2008 22:16

Ceebee really like Luke too but feel maybe too close to Jake... (save a couple of letters!)

hi ladies . Thank you all for your amazing and direct advice about BF and not being a stress head! It's like you have known me for years. I love people who just dont hold back and tell you how it is.

Unfortunately I've always been a planner, worrier and stress head. Will try to calm it down and just take each wonderful, exhausting new day with baby 2 as it comes.

THANK YOU.

Also ... loving some of your names. Keeping my couple of names TOP SECRET as I dont know what spies might be lurking. We have got a couple of names for each flavour but having trouble getting DH to agree for definate. No worries as DS's name was our 2nd choice. No idea how/why he ended up with the 2nd choice of Ryan. but suits him and couldnt imagine anything else.

MerryMarigold · 04/07/2008 23:00

thomasina, I am Ellena! I love my name...

Congrats autumn on your little son (well, he's about 27cms according to babycentre, so not that little!). My ds is definitely a mummy's boy, although he was a daddy's boy till 2 years old. He still gets v excited to see Dadda and 'pay fooball' or 'go park', but all the crying, illness and tiredness cuddles/ kisses he comes to me.

For ds, we wanted Madeleine from the very start (dh mum is Magdalena which I like but we have a 3 syllable surname so a bit of a mouthful). We couldn't decide on a boy's name till we bought a house and the postcode was 0LY. Guess what his name is? I liked Xavier and Theo, dh hated and liked Rupert and Byron!

This time we don't have any ideas that we REALLY like. We are more in agreement but haven't fallen in love. Boys: Rowan, Elliot and Girls: Charis, Erin, Erica.

My friend have just had a baby boy and called him Harrison. They have Harrison and Dylan - I love those names too. Asked them what their girls names were so I could steal one - they said D'Arcy and Brooke, sounds good with their name and their brothers names, but I am not that keen.

ceebee, I like Samuel, Daniel and Joel, but unfortunately are surname ends in 'el' and they sound too much like they rhyme!

Like all the names I've seen, but not inspired to steal any - yet! Carla is unsual, I like it. I like Carl for a boy too, but again, doesn't suit our surname.

Oooooh, names are not easy...

MerryMarigold · 04/07/2008 23:03

...sorry, I can go on about names forever.

I like Isaac, Reuben and Noah if we are going Hebrew names. I know one of each.

misdee · 04/07/2008 23:04

i liek Malachi. dh doesnt.

MerryMarigold · 04/07/2008 23:07

I like Zephaniah from a distance (Imagine being Mr Z. ....) and Zeph is cool, but maybe it's a bit mean on the poor kid...what do you think?

misdee · 04/07/2008 23:12

thats quite cool. we wouldnt be able to pull it off, we arent Zeph kinda people lol. dh likes Xavier. i am over that, i'm afraid.

MerryMarigold · 04/07/2008 23:17

nah, neither are we. ds1 is oliver. they don't really go together. just suggesting it for someone on their first and can start out 'ubercool'! Xavi is quite a footballer's name, but still love it.

bubbaz · 05/07/2008 07:37

I loving all these names. Dozy DS is Luke William and he is very much a Luke even though DH wasn't keen until he was born I quite liked Logan but DH didn't and he has decided it has gown on him this time round but I' not so sure his name is L and we have Luke so 3 Mr Ls might get a bit confusing!!!
Well I am currently praying for it not to rain, We are supposed to be going to Carlisle Races this afternoon on a hospitlity pass with DHs work and there has just been a severe weather warning for the North so i'm crossing my fingers. It was cancelled last year because of rain and i've been looking forward to it for ages!!!
Is anyone esle struggling with anything with the smallest heel on, I'm at a wedding at the end of August and have my dress etc but it is looking like I will need to be in flats (beige ones at that) and i'm having a mare getting any!
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.
Yorky hope your night out went well.

HELLO.... WORRY WART HERE ...

This is my last time to check in whilst on holiday PROMISE..... Fly home tomorrow night and looking forward to posting the bump photo. They go onlike this: Bump on beach, bump in restaurant HEE HEE..

Anyway, ok I am going to stop worrying UNTIL i get home. Fly home tomorrow night. Going to contact MW first thing on Monday morning to see if she will listen to the HB for me, then I have the other scan on the Wednesday.

Haven´t had time to read all the posts cos I have heard it is illegal to be posting on mumsnet whilst on holiday and I wouldn´t want to get into any trouble `...

Did i tell anyone i´m in Majorca and it´s gorgeous weather ..... SIGNING OFF:... See you Monday.. SORRY xxxxx

lackaDAISYcal · 05/07/2008 12:06

thomasina, our friends DD is Eleanor, but gets called Ellie usually. Eleanor is lovely. Well, the nameless baby finally has a name; they have called her Tessa, so another girls name in the mix there

We are definately having Lawrence as a middle name (after my late Dad). Think we have a few contenders, but will keep them secret. If anyone asks, it's Virgil

sparkletoes · 05/07/2008 14:33

Hope u enjoy ur hols Pinkie (know by time u read this it will prob be enjoyED your hols!). Don't worry about worrying tho I was exactly the same first time (and hadn't been enlighted to the wonders of MNet support threads!). Threads like this one are ALL about allaying any fears and non-judgemental, straightforward advice (for the LAST time my previous steer-clear topics apply to GENERAL threads ONLY not ours! - ok I wont mention that again now).

I also wouldn't worry to much that the MW didn't get the heartbeat, last time I saw mine she said it was quite normal to find it difficult to locate at this stage... (In fact they still had trouble finding my DS heartbeat much later on in pregnancy but I kinda knew where was best to look and could direct them to where it was heard last time.) I hope she did let u hear it tho for reassurance if nothing else, but pretty soon you'll be able to feel (and occ see!) movements so that should also keep u reassured.

Ellie is a lovely name and I quite like longer names that can be shortened, Eleanor was in my Cool Baby Names book too if I remember rightly... My cousin called her wee girl Tessa and she really suits it!

Also really like Lawrence and shorted to Lawrie is nice too I think. Totally understand those who prefer to keep their names secret, I personally don't like the thought of people I know spying on our thread and working it out (paranoid or wot! ).
