barnpot · 02/07/2008 17:55

I really fancy bananas and lemon curd on toast mmmm
only 11 shifts left to work

carrieon · 02/07/2008 19:45

I'm addicted to chocolate digestive biscuits. Have to be McVities, have to be dark chocolate (well obv won't turn down milk choc of a different brand if its all that's on offer!!)
My friend taught me how to make the nicest banana milkshake - one banana with a whole load of milk and about 6 ice cubes. I spice it up with either blueberries or...chocolate digestive biscuits and wizz it up in the blender. A cool, refreshing injection of potassium into my life!
I'm not able to count down working days as such, but 12 weeks and 4 days of being an achy and large SAHM to one child before becoming a slim-line (HA!) energetic (HA HA!!) mum to two!

Need to organise a wedding present for dh's brother, wedding next Sat, and they don't have a on-line list, just an on-line list of things they would like, so the guest have to do the donkey work.

carrieon · 02/07/2008 19:46

Oh and congrats kasha! I also would love to hear birth story and name if you feel up to it...

carrieon · 02/07/2008 19:57

Oooh guess what, mamamuffin and I just spoke in Real Life and we have a play date for Friday at about 1:30 in York. I've not paid for CAT but I've changed my preferences so you can contact me if you live in the area (ponymum I hope you can get this to work!), or you can get me through the facebook group. Lets crack open the chocolate biscuits and banana milkshakes!

potxola · 02/07/2008 20:22

Kasha I've just scream when I've read your post. Great ending!!!!!!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS and give ghim a big kis from all of us.

hopefully · 02/07/2008 20:50

Ponymum we can compare drafts when my masterpiece is complete! Mine is currently only 4 chapters long, so you may have to wait a while...

The closest I've come to a food craving is yoghurt - I eat about 3 a day - and I went through a massive apple phase, eating about 6 a day for a couple of weeks.

mumiyumi · 02/07/2008 22:18

I'm craving mint choc chip ice cream, or lolly/cornetto whatever the form it's just fab

only got 8 working days left over the nxt 2 wks...can't wait roll on 18th july, although you get no rest with ds around!! I've got to think about his 3rd b'day party, i think using the local play pit is going to be the best option this year

kasha i'm sure i posted a congratulations earlier but i can't find it....jelly brain, so congrats and thinking of you all, take care xx

DazedEmma · 02/07/2008 22:35

Hello! I'm due mid September and so happy I've found this thread!!

Is anyone wondering how they can possibly get any bigger?? My bump is HUGEEEEE!

DazedEmma · 02/07/2008 22:38

Just been reading through the thread, congrats Kasha!! But have to say your birth announcement has TERRIFIED me! I'm soooo not prepared! I'm not alone am i???

kkdmom · 03/07/2008 05:51

Congratulations Kasha. It is great to hear ds is doing well even if in hospital. A good friend had her ds at 30 wks and I saw how tiring it was for her so please be kind to yourself and ask MN for advice if you need it.

hopefully · 03/07/2008 07:47

Dazedemma I know what you mean, I am the most anally organised person in the world, and even I am feeling remarkably not-ready in the face of a birth announcement!

I swear my bump has grown about 3 inches in the past couple of days - it used to stick out about level with my boobs, and suddenly its about a foot beyond them! Have midwife next week, so I'm sure she'll tell me if I'm getting too ridiculously enormous.

mama2bee · 03/07/2008 09:33

Banana cake digitalgirl yummy yum - did you get round to making it in the end? I had cravings in the beginning (cheese, salt and vinegar crips) but less so now - I'm just hungry all the time and will eat ANYTHING! Must control myself They were giving away smoothies at the station, so at least I can feel healthy about that!

biglips · 03/07/2008 09:35

Dazed- take a look at my piccy on my profile. that was 3 days before my due date. Between 6 8 months you'll have a growing bump spurt but on the last month you will slow right down. i remember when i was 6 months pg with my 1st and i told Dp that i cannot get any bigger but i did!

mustsleep · 03/07/2008 10:21

morning everyone

have been to docs and gotanother sick note for two more weeks and 3 more packets of co-codomal!! so that's work swhilst in the docs i think i may have managed to injure myself, there is a play area with a little benchto sit on and i always sit on this to stop dd from assaulting the other children from sitting on there to getting up for my appt i can barely move
seem to have trapped some nerve in the very top of my leg so now am sat at home with my feet up hoping iut goes away

yay!!! the builders are here so should i say just the one digging the footings so things are moving forward at last!! and have a lovely stylish electric fire now in the living room instead of the ancient gas thing we had before

now just to get my ma sorted and i will be a happy chappy

does anyone have any more news on Kasha?

i am huge!!! not sure howmuch longer i can last !! was this big at the end last time - but i can;t be that big as i only measure a week and a bit in front of dates soooo thats ok isn't it ?

Sunshinemummy · 03/07/2008 10:38

Hello all. Another eventful night in the Sunshinemummy household.

DP awoke at 3:30am to hear someone at the car. Whoever it was had managed to get the door open and was riffling through the compartments for things to steal. DP jumped out of bed and started screaming at the thief and, somehow, managed to warp the hinges on our shutters (so they now won't shut properly) and put his fist through the bedroom window, cutting his hand quite badly. So I spent an hour this morning, clearing glass from the bedroom carpet, the path and front of the house, wiping up blood and cleaning and dressing DP's hand. One of the cuts looks quite deep but the dressing seems to have stopped it bleeding so hoping he doesn't need stitches. Luckil DS slept right through it but I am exhausted now! He's at home waiting for our handyman to come and glaze the window and hopefully fix the shutters!

Am starting to panic that I still haven't found anyone to do my maternity cover. I thought I'd found a candidate internally but apprently he's pissed off so many people lately that they've told me they won't renew his contract, so I'm back to interviewing. No-one seems to have the right skill set at the right level. Am worrying that I won't have a sufficient handover time now!

Anyway, due to nighttime antics have not managed to eat yet as was late to work and had to go straight into conf call with South Africa, so off to get some brekkie before my next meeting.

Sunshinemummy · 03/07/2008 10:39

Sorry DP is at home, not DS. He's at nursery as usual !

hopefully · 03/07/2008 11:18

sunshinemummy you sound very busy and important today! I think if South Africa wanted to speak to me before I had breakfast they would just have to wait, or face my wrath... lol at the mental picture of your little DS sat there instructing the handyman on reglazing the window!

Mustsleep how exciting to have your conservatory started! Must be nice to finally be making headway, even if your work still haven't sorted your MA.

MrsElle28 · 03/07/2008 11:33

Hiya everyone, been a while since i've posted, but was feeling unbelievably emotional (what's new pussycat?) at not being on the list anymore. Hope no one minds, but i've added myself. Congratulations on new arrivals!

Goodness, you're in Yorkshire as well. Is Yorkshire really really full of pregnant ladies at the moment? Everyone on this thread appears to either be in London or Yorks! (except me, obviously...)

Sunshinemummy · 03/07/2008 11:54

Yes can just imagine DS with Chris, our handyman. DS has started saying window as 'windah' as there's a clip on his Teletubbiess DVD with a little boy who loves looking at the rain 'aht the windah'.

DebitheScot · 03/07/2008 12:26

I'm not in Yorkshire or London hopefully Although I am fairly close to London I suppose.

Congratulations Kasha it's great to hear that your ds is doing well so far, hopfully he'll keep it up and won't be in hospital too long. Am I right in thinking that 1.39kg is just over 3lb? That sounds like a reasonable size.

I seem to be really busy at work this week. I'm off 2 days (out of 3) next week so that's not helping either.

Also feeling a bit weird about the fact that when I leave I won't know if or when I'll be back. I've been here 5 years and the last day might be the last time I properly see people. And I'm worried I might miss out on a leaving present!

mustsleep · 03/07/2008 12:57

i know deb lol that'swaht i thought cos i've been off sick and they all hate me now i won;t get a baby pressie when i start my mat leave

well have managed to get rid of the huge ironing pile by actually ironing it this time and not just putting it in the wardrobe

my leg/bum is still agony when i walk, hopeit wears off before i have topick ds up from school as i now have to walk with a very very silly waddle otherwise i can;t move - maybe some co-codomal will help?

digitalgirl · 03/07/2008 13:12

welcome DazedEmma!! Glad you found the thread. I don't feel at all prepared yet. If the baby is considered full-term at 37 weeks that means we should really be ready for then, that's only 9 weeks away for me

mama2bee The banana cake was baked in time for dessert last night. DH and I had a slice each and I've brought half of it into work to share out. Got my 28 week GTT tomorrow, so probably shouldn't scoff the lot before then.

sunshine what a palava! Did the cheeky f***er manage to take anything from your car?

my sister finally moved out yesterday morning. left loads of stuff in the room for us to take to my mum's whilst she's away. she did a good job of trying to make us feel guilty about making her pack up her stuff now. but I'm glad we did. now we can slowly start turning the room into a kids room rather than a guest room.

I'm finding my walk from the bus-stop to work is getting harder and harder. Combination of already being knackered by the time I leave the house and the SPD ache. Am seriously going to have think about working from home one day a week.

and FINALLY, another thing to cross off my list...I've booked a dentist appointment!!!

mustsleep · 03/07/2008 13:15

omg why oh why do people keep mentioning banana cake?? now i really really want some

how would i go about making that?
