oh I never knew that L'Oreal and Body Shop were owned by Nestle. Who else do they own? I won't buy nestle either but have just rubbed Body Shop cocoa butter stuff all over my bump.

meglet · 15/07/2008 22:20

deb I think that the charity 'baby milk action' should have the nestle info on their site. Although I have to admit that I boycotted Nestle (and their companies) for the best part of 15 years and have cracked in the last year. . I ate my first lion bar this spring. .

I used to be so green, ethical and organic before I had DS. Now I have no time and money it's all gone pear shaped.

eandz · 15/07/2008 22:23

evening ladies! yesterday's sling talk coincided with me finally winning a wilkinet off eBay am v. pleased and looking forward to learning how to tie it. We also had a bit of carrier/sling action at our NCT class with two dads-to-be struggling with a baby bjorn and baba sling.

Have no idea what my GTT or 28 week blood results are, was assuming no news is good news. Although, judging by starlight's 'results' perhaps no news simply means someone else has my results .

Am mad busy at work this week, the company is finally taking off (just when I want to be winding down)...so will have to try and be quite strict with myself and remember to not take on too many tasks.

No itching here, although I did suffer quite a bit in the first/early second trimester. I've been slapping on Neal's Yard balm, then when that ran out someone bought me some L'Occitane balm.

Can't believe some of you are going/have been camping!! Well done to you, but that's the last thing I want to do. Love my comfy bed where I have to sleep with three pillows under my feet, two fluffed up pillows under my head and my pregnancy pillow wrapped under my back, belly and in between my legs. Plus the comfort of stepping across the hall three times a night to go to the loo.

Baby is currently pushing upwards and squashing my lungs, feels a bit like being underwater.

hopefully · 16/07/2008 09:15

I am getting so short of breath, and rib pain is definitely happening every now and again. Assuming baby has stayed in the position it was in at last MW appointment, it's perfectly positioned!

Starlight, so glad your transfusion went well .

I am so struggling in work, even though I only have 2 and a half weeks to go, I am struggling with motivation so much.

Cried at DP last night because he's been offered the chance to go sailing at the beginning of August. He asked me and I said yes, and then burst into tears. Think he is now a little scared of me...

LittleConnie · 16/07/2008 09:48

dg I would definitely phone up for your results... I did yesterday 2 weeks after having my 27 week blood tests and apparently I'm also low in iron and need to start iron tablets. Why did I have to ring them to find this out?

Huge respect to the campers... am also addicted to my comfy bed and can't imagine sleeping anywhere else. Although I could stretch to the lovely country house hotel we're going to in the Cotswolds this weekend for our last trip just the 2 of us!

DebitheScot · 16/07/2008 10:08

My iron was quite low too and I only found out because I had to go and see midwife 2 weeks earlier than I should have to get my letter letting me fly. You'd think they'd phone and tell you but obviously not.

I'm down to my last 4 days of work now, it's a struggle to get anything done today, I don't have a huge amount to do but am still not being very productive. I'm feeling really tired too and am looking forward to my 2 days next week when ds is still going to childminder even though I'm not at work.

I've put a few photos on my profile of us at the wedding.

eandz · 16/07/2008 10:11

debithescot,
you guys look fantastic!

DebitheScot · 16/07/2008 10:24

awe thanks, that's what I needed to hear!

kirstygem · 16/07/2008 10:50

Wow I have been away in Scotland at my Mums for last 2 weeks and so cant even attempt to catch up with this new thread. Hope everyone in doing well. I have really bad back ache down one side which kid of starts at my bum and shoots upwards. Sore to sit and sore to walk around so not sure what to do with myself

hopefully · 16/07/2008 10:54

I swear about half of us are suffering with strange bottom pain of one form or another! Pregnancy really is all glamour isn't it?

I have managed to motivate myself to do one of the half dozen things on my to do list today, am feeling inordinately proud of myself!

DebitheScot · 16/07/2008 11:06

hopefully You've made me feel good, I've done 2 of the 6 things on my list!

My right ribs hurt and the tops of my legs/pelvis are aching today too but I can still walk so shouldn't really complain. It doesn't hurt if I'm sitting down but the longer I sit the more it hurts when I do get up.

I got a bit depressed last night when I realised I still probably have another 50 nights of hauling my body across every time I want to roll over. I hate the fact that I wake up every time I need to move. 50 nights seems such a long time.

And while I'm moaning I'll keep going- I also have a stinking cold and I'm worried that if I'm this tired when I go into labour that I won't be able to do anything.I need more energy. I've only been taking vitamins+iron for a week since being told my iron is low, is that long enough for the levels to have come up or could that be why I'm still tired?

mama2bee · 16/07/2008 11:22

Glad I'm not the only one struggling with work. Bad commute home last night, started to tell DH all about it and promptly burst into tears - sometimes it's just all abit much isn't it? Don't feel motivated at all, I know how you all feel. At least my boss is away for a while, can get on with my handover notes in peace (and check out MN in peace as well)

debithescot I also wake up every time I need to move, so can completely sympathise with that!

eandz · 16/07/2008 11:48

ahhhh. i'm soo bunged up with this cold! i can't breathe through my nose without making noises that are very unladylike and am soo congested i sound like a phone sex operator who smokes too much...

whats everyone doing to get better?

DebitheScot · 16/07/2008 12:30

eandz- being miserable! Haven't taken anything to feel better but obviously paracetemol is allowed and those nose things that you snort are ok.

Who was it who went to Longleat recently? I remember seeing your comment on the traumatic incident on facebook. Did you just go for the day or did you stay somewhere? If you did, where? I'm trying to plan a cheap overnight trip there for a couple of weeks time.

splishsplosh · 16/07/2008 12:58

Starlight - last m/w check, baby was indeed head down and back on the left, but I don't suppose there's any guarantee it will stay like that for the next 11 weeks. But if it was perfectly positioned, does that man it would possibly pop out even quicker? Last time was about 5 hrs, I'm a bit scared this will be quicker, especially having to get to a hospital further away. Last time I was already admitted when it started - I didn't really get any build up, and have no idea how i'd cope with any kind of journey if it was like that again.

I'm tired too, keep having to stop and rest when walking up the hill. Feeling so daunted by the packing up of the house - apparently it is my job to do as more of the stuff is mine than p's - how can I convince him that being 6.5 months pg with v painful ribs / back and a 2year old in tow is not the best state to be in to pack up a 3 bedroom house single handedly????

Meglet - I'm like that too - used to do my best with ethical living, now I have much less money, time and energy etc, and it's sadly gone by the wayside

Sorry for anyone with colds, pains and exhaustion - sounds like almost everyone!

eandz · 16/07/2008 13:06

so far i've been using sinex snort stuff, with a breathe easy strip over my nose, strepsils for my throat and one paracetemol a day.

i swear my baby is doing acrobatics. all sorts of positions. I'm sure last night she was breech, now seems transverse. Deffo not breech though!

eandz get ye under a steamy shower. clears up bungy noses.

mama2bee · 16/07/2008 14:04

I know they're not a big purchase, but opinions please on scratch mits - do they just keep falling off or are they worth buying?

hopefully · 16/07/2008 14:25

I have no idea mama2bee - I have 1 pair that came in a little set that someone gave us, and someone else pointed out that if needs be you can always use bootees or socks until you can get to a shop to buy more...

I just got the stitch from hell walking back to my office from the other side of London bridge. I had to stop for a few minutes to make the pain go away! I am never going to survive labour...

DebitheScot · 16/07/2008 14:58

a couple of pairs of scratch mitts are useful to have in case it does come out with long nails, I don't think I used them for any longer than the first day or 2 though. They make a good, cheap ipod sock though.

I've just taught my last ever PE lesson and I'm glad I don't have to do that again, it was hard work.

mama2bee · 16/07/2008 15:24

yes you will hopefully (survive labour!)

Thanks for the advice, will get a couple of pairs then... What's the best way to cut long nails?

mama2bee · 16/07/2008 15:38

That probably sounds like a silly question, but I've heard a few people say don't bother with baby scissors (too scary)
