Heffagooday · 26/06/2008 17:02

Libralady - lovely gift I've seen these around and thought they were quite fun!

Jacobsprincess - my DH always catches me in front of MN, but I have normally been on it most of the day

Re cars - we just switched from a Fiat Punto to a Nissan Primera for extra boot space and a more convenient family car. DH loves it. I don't drive so no idea but I do like more space!

CilC · 26/06/2008 17:54

Sounds like everyone is chilling today....feels like a calm before the storm (or should I say avalanche of LO's all being born at the same time)!

So glad we have company cars...never had to deal with insurance issues and what is an MOT??? Atually don't answer that, I don't think I need to know.

Lovely present Libralady and very thoughtful of B and SIL. Have sent link to family in Australia as a hint...I am so subtle!

DH has just collected me from my hair appointment. Foils all done, no darker roots and hair shiny...all ready for post baby shots! Arghhhh! I get very itchy from pethidine and epidural and last time my nose dobled in size. It even grows in pregnancy, so I looked like a pig! DH said that with shiny new hair and swollen noes I will look like Miss Piggy...

CilC · 26/06/2008 17:55

*doubled

Heffagooday · 26/06/2008 18:38

CilC - my nose tilts up at the end and I always think I look like Miss Piggy! Hope you had a relaxing time at the hairdressers. I should really go and get mine cut, it's ridiculously long now and has no style whatsoever.

Heffagooday · 26/06/2008 18:40

Oh, meant to say - I'm sure you won't look like Miss Piggy at all! I'm rather dreading the post-labour photos though.

pigleychez · 26/06/2008 18:59

Since being pregnant ive found that my nose goes red easily.

Quite often i notice it in the mirror
DH says shame its not around xmas then i could be rudolph!

JODIEhavingababy · 26/06/2008 19:45

Can I just say - quickly (tea is nearly ready) MINKUS is very conspicuous in her absence......... It's got me wondering!

Kaz1967 · 26/06/2008 19:52

Had one hell of a day went to the Thursday college group I have been going to for over a year to say good bye to everyone

Saw Midwife who has been fab she can be a bit dizzy at times and I know a couple of the girls from my antenatal group find her frustrating (she is a little hippy) but I really like her and she has just been so supportive, she has new addresses and things and will sort out my consultant and stuff. The gert big lump is even too big to hide so there was no hunt the baby either, no protein no sugar bp fine left with a hug and just want to cry. Both her and my regular GP seem genuinely upset that I am not delivering here and in some ways (ie they will no longer be doing my care) so am I. I honestly could not have got through the past 8 months (8 years for my GP) without them

Heard the bus while I was still a litttle way from bus stop stuck arm out and trued to speed up in veign hope it would stop and it did got someone is looking after me don't get many drivers like that around here. Trying to run for the bus with large lump is not a good idea though and set off the braxton hicks +++

Went back past the college and picked up my bucket of nappies and bought some nappi nippers too so no pins Counsel are encouraging people to not use disposables and because of financial reasons and environmental ones I was already thinking about terry ones anyway I got £90 worth for £50 of terry various types of fitted plus 3 flat Plus they are giving a vouture for £30 so I only paid £20 going to need some others but will probably get some more flat ones.

Came back again (all these journeys are on the bus btw) had lunch in my usual cafe I just cannot sit comfortably today my back passage just does not feel right think monster is pressing on a nerve or something so as well as thinking I need pee every 2 mins the other end now hurts plus I have back ache which just wont go away and constant Braxton hicks (and I know you are all feeling the same but I am so pissed off so sorry for having a moan ) Kept getting all these god hope she is not going to drop here looks

then went up to the docs could not see my usual doc but have some more painkillers stabby things and strips to take my blood sugar should last me until post baby now even if monster is late. I was early got called in early but he had prescribed the wrong test strips so pharmacy (thank god attached) went and sorted it out for me. But that all took longer than the doctors and I nearly fell asleep sitting waiting sitting on the chair

Then back to the estate agent to say Mums solicitor and now mine are not happy with the arrangement (which one of my solicitors colleagues said was ok when this was first broached months ago) of exchanging me moving out him doing work then completing in about 3 months time why could my solicitor not say she was concerned about this months back Apologised endlessly but as Mum is acting as bridging loan I cannot really go against her wishes so my buyer either needs to find another way of doing this or house has to go back on market

Came back via friend up the road to say goodbye there too and give her new address, came home went to bed and crashed for 3 hours but too tired and sore to sleep

libralady · 26/06/2008 19:56

Hi,

Yes I got the gift not the link ha ha. It's so unique and I'd never seen anything like it before. Problem is I don't want to take the clothes out and spoil it iyswim.

Very of those getting new cars. Although we did buy a new one a couple of weeks before DS1 was born. Bought an estate and said I would keep it for 2 years max, but tbh, I wouldn't be without it now. I most definately need the extra space.

pigleychez · 26/06/2008 20:05

Kaz - hope things get sorted soon with the solicitors.
Sounds like an emotional day for you saying goodbye to everyone

Libra- know exactly what you mean about not wanting to ruin the gift... i'm terrible like that.
DH moans about my Candles that are "too nice to use"

Jodie- very true bout Minkus.... you never know!! She was on disneys prediction list!

Heffagooday · 26/06/2008 20:09

Jodie - good point!

Kaz - wow, what a day! I hope you've got something chilled planned for the evening. Wrangling with solicitors is horrible. Hope you're OK!

Mummywannabe · 26/06/2008 20:31

Hi all.

Kaz - sounds like a very busy day!

Popped back into work today to see the kids, was very odd, felt like i didn't belong there.

Very very uncomfortable again today.

I was wondering about minkus too.

purplejennyrose · 26/06/2008 20:35

hmmm, yes where is minkus??
kaz - hope you are recovering from your day - whew!
pigley - lol at 'candles too nice to use'!! I used to be just like that, would hoard lovely things in a safe place and just look at them from time to time! Now I just use everything (run out of hoarding space!) Mind you, don't have a very good record re breakages - especially when pregnant; in the last few weeks I think I've broken 2 glasses, 1 mug and 4 bowls!!
heffa - had a wash cut and blowdry the other day and it was so nice, really therapeutic!
My news - sorry very long - please feel free to skip;

  • went to hosp this afternoon and it turned out there had been a misunderstanding and it was just a preliminary appt with the consultant, who wasn't even there!! No booking for ECV (turning procedure) had been made! Anyway, saw a nice midwife, and then the consultant came back, so talked to her - and we have decided against the ECV. Basically, it would happen sometime next week, so I'd be 38 weeks plus (dd1 was born at nearly 39) and it doesn't look that hopeful - baby has very little space / fluid now, has been breech for so many weeks without moving, and has her feet down which tends to be tricky. I have been in awful awful pelvic pain, on crutches all the time. And I just feel that maybe she is breech for a reason, and we should go with that... I said that to the midwife and dr, expecting them to think me crazy but actually they both said that was fine and they understood. So - I am booked in for elective section on Mon 7th July - I'll be 39 plus1. I feel happy with this!
Weird though, knowing what day she'll be born... Will try and transfer back to local mat unit soon as I can -after 24 hours if there is a bed, apparently.
bebejones · 26/06/2008 20:36

Wow Kaz, and I thought I'd had a hectic one!! So relieved to get car sorted. DH has been very sweet about it after snapping earlier, turns out his day was not good at work, so am being really REALLY helpful and going in to work with him 2moro to help him out!!! (On the promise of chips for lunch ) So actually get to pick my car up next Thursday lunchtime, have 36 week MW appointment in the morning so will have a busy day! Thanks to everyone for all their kind words earlier, really helped me through being a gibbering wreck over something so trivial!!!

On the nose front, mine gets really cold, even when the rest of me is hot, and it is like a dripping tap at the moment...although that could be the hayfever! Isn't pregnancy a weird and wonderful thing?!

purplejennyrose · 26/06/2008 20:36

oh and off to look at figleaves link now - thanks pigley!

sweetkitty · 26/06/2008 21:00

Evening all, just wrote birth plan in prep for MW tomorrow, also told DP who told me to write it in bullet points and tape it to bedroom wall

basics are:

  • gas and air only (no morphine no matter what I say at the time
  • examinations fine, intermittent monitoring fine
  • baby delivered onto chest and left alone, no syntometrin, cord left until it has stopped pulsing and drained of blood, no rush for placenta to be delivered, first BF asap
  • I then said that I lose complete control like my body is in the room my head is not, I have no break in contractions, I need the MWs to be firm and tell me what I need to do.
  • Second degree tear with DD1 due to hand at face and fast delivery, I need to be told to slow things down and wait. Scared of tearing again.
  • vitamin K ok
  • also said if at any time we need to transfer to hospital we go, no discussion

Basically the same birth as DD2 would be lovely (well maybe half the time and not as painful )

minkus - where are you? Don't keep us in suspense
bebejones - you weren't being trivial it's just a stressful time thats all, wait until you get your new car, Merivas are nice and much better than a Corsa for getting a baby in and out (they are higher up so you don't need to stoop and squeeze them in), get your car seat in all nice and ready too.
purplejenny - sorry about no ECV but I do think a elective csection will be fine, can't believe you know when the baby will be born, maybe mine and yours will be twins (wishful thinking on my part) Glad you feel better about things and just think how many days until that pain goes? Your on the countdown now.
kaz - wow what a day, wonder how you had the energy to post tonight, hope you have a more relaxing one tomorrow
jacobsprincess - my DP is always "catching" me on MN, I also tell the DDs Mummy is working on the computer like Peppa Pigs Mummy

Right am off to watch Heroes and catch up on my knitting (have been neglecting it a bit recently).

purplejennyrose · 26/06/2008 21:09

sweetkitty - I know, I do feel so much better, being able to think it's only so many days, planning the time before and making plans for after too. I think for me it is all about knowing and having some control.
Oh yeah, the 'mummy's just doing some work on the computer' line! Use that so often with dd! Not that it stops her hammering the keyboard and demanding to know where the Pontypines are...

mummypig · 26/06/2008 21:18

EEC glad my birth story was encouraging, just goes to show they are all so different so just because your baby is back-to-back doesn't mean your labour will be same as last time. Anyway I hope all your positions will help.

CilC I am sure my nose has grown this pregnancy, I used to be pleased with having a cute little one but now I'm starting to look more and more like my mum . But despite the nose I am feeling happy with my appearance - I had my hair cut on Monday and my legs, bikini line and hairy bump waxed today!

kaz you had such a busy day, hope you've had a more relaxing evening

purplejennyrose it must feel strange knowing exactly what day your little one will come out, but good to be able to plan for it.

sweetkitty hope you get the birth you want

and jacobsprincess sounds like you got loads done today really! My dp has started asking me if anything exciting is happening with this group... I told him there hadn't been any births for a while. Sounds like minkus could be the next one though.

Heroes for me too, but after dp has finished watching the football and ds1 has gone to bed. Bedtimes with the boys have been getting steadily worse recently (i.e. later and later, and the boys' behaviour has been getting worse). Of course I'm so tired I get really impatient with them too. I think they will get a real shock after the baby comes because I won't be able to spend the same amount of time putting them to bed at all - and for a while it will be other family members doing bedtime and not me. At least ds2 went to sleep quite quickly tonight (usually he's the one coming down the stairs and pestering us for ages).

CilC · 26/06/2008 22:13

Ooooh Minkus might me a new Mum as we type!

Sorry to hear about your day Kaz. Biscuits and tea are needed! Tomorrow will be better!

I know this sounds silly but I feel a bit embarassed going off to get waxed at the moment. Feel so big and shamed by my hairy belly. I was going to get DH to help me wax it, but may just pluck up the courage and go and get it done properly!

Purple - I am booked a week later to have my elective c section; though wish I could have it a week earlier! This is my second one so if you have any questions I am happy to try and help. It is quite overwhelming when you go into theatre, but so incredibly quick! I really like having the time and date and being able to get organised, especially in light of the fact I have no family and little support over here.

On a completely different subject, have been watching the Panorama story on Primark (taped from earlier in th week). Quite shocking and has really made me think about where our clothes come from...also amazed by how teary I feel for the children... I just do not seem to be able to cope with anything lately. I even cried during the news the other day. Sorry I realise a bit of a downer...

JODIEhavingababy · 26/06/2008 22:14

SK Thanks for those bullet points, DH on XBOX and I've sat down to do my Birth Plan and came to it and didn't know what to write, hopefully it will all go according to plan....

Bebe No probs, glad you got it sorted in the end, these things can really fry your brain can't they, it's not as if we do them everyday is it!

Libralady I'veseen those baskets before, they ar so stunning and what a good idea!

Jacobsprincess My DH is always catching me on it (I have to catch up all the time, otherwise it takes AGES) he now 'jokes' that I should go to Mumsnet Anonomous!

Kaz what a day! Put your feet up love and have a cocoa!

Purplejennyrose Glad you've finally got a plan now, at least you can plan! I'd love to know exactly when I was having this baby!

Am abit cross with DH tonight. while he was plating up dinner (a nice hot curry!! I asked if he wanted a drink, and he had the cheek to turn around and say 'a big vat of red wine would be nice!' In all seriousness, he's only been on a drinking ban for 2 Days! FFS, I would love a vat of red too thank you very much!!!! Then I said well lets try the magic 3, (someone mentioned it earlier I think, HOt Cury, Hot bath, Hot sex) he then said, can you please have the baby before the last bit

sweetkitty · 26/06/2008 22:26

purplejenny - I would love to know the exact date but unfortunately my babies seem to come when they want despite the stern talkings to I give them. It's Mama Mirabelles Home Movies in this house as DD1 can play it on her own.

Mummypig - I'm the same I'm allowing the DDs to get away with things they wouldn't usually as I can't run up and down the stairs I just stand at the bottom and shout. They are in for a serious shock once Mummy gets her legs back. Bed times not bad here as they are usually so tired they go no problem.

jodie - hot 3 doesn't work IME but hey worth a try lol

DonutMum · 26/06/2008 23:04

Sweetkitty, I settled down to watch Heroes too - but it wasn't on!! WTF?! Or is that me being thick? BBC3 yes?

ponto · 27/06/2008 00:15

Jodie, it was me who mentioned the hot bath, hot curry, hot sex, it does not work for bringing on labour IME. I tried it the day before I was induced with dd1 and afterwards felt that my last night of pregnancy was not a good memory! I would recommend relaxing warm bath, food that is not likely to make you rush for the loo the whole of the following day and a gentle cuddle/massage.

Saw midwife today, she had a student with her who examined me and said the head was engaged, but doesn't feel like it to me. Baby has been very active tonight - went to see 'Sex and the City' with a friend and baby wriggled constantly, so maybe it is trying to get its head down into my pelvis. Managed to stay in my seat for the whole film but bladder felt as if it would burst when I stood up at the end!

Minkus · 27/06/2008 09:01

Hey everyone sorry to disappoint no new baby just broken internet for a while!
AAAAARGH! (Not sure which is worse, waiting for the baby or being without Mumsnet and Facebook )

No hope of catching up since old thread so just a hug to everyone still hanging on in the waiting room here!

Nowt exciting to report here, all quiet on the baby front.

Taking ds to play barn later to run of some energy and so that I can sit and do nothing for a while! V lazy but I am so cumbersome and elephantine that it's nice to have an opportunity to just sit and veg.

Have a good day all! xxx

Libra1975 · 27/06/2008 09:26

Bah, bad night last night, achey legs, twingey bump, insomnia, stabby pains in vagina that's not SPD but it still hurts and when I finally gave in and got up at 6am MUMSNET was down. *sulks

Nothing to do today except take car for MOT at 10:30 and then back to bed for rest of day!

Sorry just needed to grumble, will be back on later after a sleep to catch up.
