OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Libra1975 · 26/06/2008 11:49

Well I get mine in Tesco, they are not in the frozen section however as you have to do that bit yourself! Mine are with the cones and other desserts such as meringues and flan bases.

catec · 26/06/2008 11:54

LOL Libra - I have been wearing my DP's cotton boxers (Calvin Klein ones) for last month or so - only thing that fits and can't be bothered buying new undies!
Sooooo comfy, although bit baggy over the crutch!!

DonutMum · 26/06/2008 11:58

Hi All, so much happening on this thread! Wasn't on yesterday as had another bloody drama. The baby furniture came yesterday and it's fab, I love it. Then went to get my pedicure (I I've got a thing about looking at my feet in labour - they need to be just so ).

So, got back and was just doing a shop at johnlewis.com for cotbed sheets (forgot to buy them, dur) and my mum came home with DS2 in hysterics. He'd been hit on the head with a football at the leisure centre. He then started vomiting and passing out. So, called an ambulance and was then at a&e in Colchester for 3 hours. Have to say, they were great and they let Fin go home eventually - he's been in my bed all night with me watching him like a hawk. Am knackered now, he's absolutely fine (think it was a shock for him which made him sick, not concussion) so he's gone to nursery. So, am back off to bed now.

So, once again, please stay in a wee bit longer baby!

Hope everyone is doing well, I have read all the posts but can't remember anything at the moment! Oh, libralady, hope Luke gets the knack soon, it's soooo upsetting and stressful isn't it?

JODIEhavingababy · 26/06/2008 12:12

Oh DONUTMUM poor DS... Hope he's OK now and hasn't got too much of a headache. I would have panicked too if that was me.

DH has just called, he's been to a consultant appt at the hosptal about his skin (gets really bad eczema) anyway, on the way back via MCDONALDS... YEAH

bebejones · 26/06/2008 12:30

Am really and
DH just had a MASSIVE go at me over the phone about this stupid insurance thing! Bloke from dealers rang to see if I have cover as the bloke that needs to go tax new car leaves at 1 and is on holiday for 2 weeks. (No idea why there is only one person who can do this) but DH had a huge go at me and told me to sort it myself. I have no idea what to do and all my insurance details he has at work with him as he was supposed to be sorting it today. He wont speak to dealers coz he is about to tell them to stick the car where sun dont shine. All they are doing is trying to help me as I requested they tax car as part of deal. And now they are umming and aaahing over whether it is ok for me to get temp cover (just so they can tax it) then arrange my own cover from the following week & pick car up then! Grrrrrrrr and blub at same time!!!!! Plus just walked into chest of drawers in bedroom and gouged a chunk of flesh from my arm which has bled everywhere and now is really throbbing!!

When it isn't your day you should just go back to bed!!!!!

JODIEhavingababy · 26/06/2008 12:52

Ahh BEBE, sorry to hear this, it's all so confusing isn't it!!!

I'd tell them not to bother taxing it, you'll lose a month as they tax it from the beginning of the month (June) If you wait until after the weekend you;ll get a full month more... (I think)

bebejones · 26/06/2008 12:55

My head is going to explode, poor pregnant brain cant cope with this. DH has apologised he's had some bad news at work today and I think he is finding it all a bit too much!

JODIEhavingababy · 26/06/2008 13:11

{{{{hugs}}} bebe... I'm sending you over a virtual cup of tea and a HUGE slice of apple pie!

Hope you calm down soon

bebejones · 26/06/2008 13:30

Thanks Jodie! Hate all this stress, if it isn't one thing it's another at the momment. With both me and DH working in Finacial Services it's a bit touch and go at the momment as to how long we can hold everything together. I hate it all so much...stupid credit crunch, stupid american banks and stupid government! Things would be so much easier if we just dealt in goats and chickens, money just ruins everything!!!!! Sorry to keep bringing everyone down at the momment with my ranting, just really need an outlet or I think I will go mad!

Heffagooday · 26/06/2008 13:31

Bebe - sorry to hear that. Sending you hugs! I know nothing about car insurance or tax so can't help but I have been email wrangling with my DH all day about life assurance so can understand a little bit how you might feel! Hope you feel better soon - how's your arm feeling now?

Any chance you could go back to bed with a big cup of tea?

Heffagooday · 26/06/2008 13:32

Oh, and just sneaked a peek at your profile; Jaffa is very cute Perfect name!

bebejones · 26/06/2008 14:05

Feeling much calmer now, have had a several pieces of strawberry jam on toast and slapped a big plaster on my arm! Insurance company have agreed to insure me on new car for 3 days (until renewal) for a fee!!!! But at this point I dont care, just want it sorted!

Heffa thank you for the hugs! Really need one right now! Jaffa is currently sulking sleeping on my bed. It's raining so I wont let him out as he is very naughty and makes mud pies and tramples it all over the house! He is the naughtiest cat I have ever had, and I love him all the more for it!!

Heffagooday · 26/06/2008 14:16

Glad you're feeling better and that insurance is kinda sorted

Our cat has only just started going outside and gets very angry with the rain - she's convinced that it's our fault somehow. She's a right little madam, but I love having her around.

cass66 · 26/06/2008 14:25

bebe, sounds like I might be too late to help but from my recent experience of buying a new car...

.. the free 1 week insurance was fine, except it was a call centre in India and took over 30mins to answer!!!

I wanted to be insured of BOTH our cars (old and new), but this would have cost too much. I have over 5 yrs no claims, but was told you can only have this on 1 car!! so to insure either without this was double the price!!

you also can't drive your other car on your current insurance (ie if you also own the other car, you can't use the insurance 3rd party etc).

But I can insure my old car for up to 90days for a minimal amount, which we are doing until we sell it. (still taxed and MOTed).

hope this helps. don't get stressed. but new cars are great! (we got a citroen xsara to replace a 3dr polo). except I can't park it!!Cass.

bebejones · 26/06/2008 14:35

They are such characters aren't they?! A bit worried how Jaffa will react to the baby....he is the baby, and gets very jealous of our two older cats, and HATES crying babies!!!

Heffagooday · 26/06/2008 14:39

Hehe, I don't think ours is going to be very pleased. She's very spoilt at the moment so I think she'll be very put out with a LO around.

bebejones · 26/06/2008 14:40

Sorry Cass crossed posts!!

Have sorted car insurance. all on my own!!! Did get the 7 day free cover so they can tax the car. Have taken it out additionally and will cancel it on Thursday next week when my current policy will be switched to new car for the time I have arranged to collect it! Then will renew my insurance with different company and 4 years protected no claims on new car from 6th July! Hoorah! (((((((Big Sigh of relief))))))) Sorry to get so worked up, off to eat something now before this LO kicks me anymore!

mummypig · 26/06/2008 14:45

Hello everyone, I have been having lots of backache and hip ache but mostly ignoring them as nothing else signals labour and I really want to wait until Tue/Wed when my midwives are back from Glastonbury!

It was discussed a bit further back, but my ds1 was back to back at the start of labour and I did a lot of walking crab-like up and down stairs to kind of shake him around and down. Labour was pretty quick once established so it doesn't necessarily mean it will go badly. However I agree that most of the ofp positions aggravate spd. I don't suppose I'll be doing much walking up and down stairs if I can help it this time round, probably just on my hands and knees as much as possible.

Libralady sorry to hear bout your probs getting Luke latched on, sounds like the expressing is going well though. I agree with CilC every 2-3 hrs is good at the start although it does feel like you're not doing anything else except being a 'milk machine'. (Ds1 was in special care for a while so I was either in there with him or attached to the hospital breastpump for about 5 days solid. Can't remember when I slept...) I know you've called the NCT helpline and got some good advice from here on mumsnet too, but I have also found the La Leche League really helpful and if there's a meeting near you you can even take Luke along so they can check his latch - there's no real substitute for someone seeing what's going on, especially if they have had proper training. It's early days but if there's another underlying problem like tongue tie or reflux it can really help for someone to recognise it sooner rather than later. (I'm not saying you have either of these but my neighbour's little girl had tongue tie and I remember the first few days were really hard for her, and my ds2 had very severe reflux which took a long time to be diagnosed.)

Gilly I have also been woken with pelvic pain at night, despite having gone to bed with an icepack between my legs two nights running. I'm just hoping I won't have to bear it for too much longer.

I am like libra1975 about cars, dp handles it all but I can understand why you don't want to leave it all to your dp bebejones, sorry taxing your new car has been so stressful for you, glad the insurance company is being a bit more helpful now though. It sounds like it might be best to tell the dealer to leave the tax and you can sort it out next week - gives you time to work out exactly what you want to do and as someone else pointed out, it means you don't have to pay tax for June either.

Baby movements during labour - I can't remember what ds2 did but ds1 was definitely moving and scratched me on the way out [ouch]

Donut your poor ds2 and poor you, glad he was well enough to go back to nursery, hope you get a bit of a rest now. I am going to get half an hour lie down before I go to collect the boys.

libralady · 26/06/2008 14:45

Just been sent this from my b & sil.

pigleychez · 26/06/2008 16:33

LIbralady- thats a lovely gift... very unusual

Bebe- Glad you got your car insurance sorted! What a nightmare!

Donut- Glad DS is ok now, must have been a worry!

Tjuice- eventually managaed to get the pics to work.... Such a cutey

Had a lovely lunch in town with a friend and her LO (1yr). Also did a bit of shopping.. nothing exciting though. Did try on a lovely dress that i was thinking of wearing to the BBQ on sat but couldnt justify spending out when i only have 2 weeks left.

Had my MW apointment and thankfully BP was ok.. Slightly high but nothing major.... sigh of relief!
Different MW to normal and she too commented on my "tight bump!"
Had a joke too about how many more weekly appointments till i have this baby!

JacobsPrincess · 26/06/2008 16:33

did they send the link or the actual product?!?
I've seen these in a very pricey baby shop. What's it like in "real life"? I think it's a lovely idea.

sweetkitty · 26/06/2008 16:35

Had a very lazy day lay on sofa and watched Peppa Pig with DDs then fell asleep trying not to move too much but it's so hard keep seeing things that need to get done around the house.

libralady - what a lovely present

mummypig - hope you hang on so you can have Glasto recovered MWs I technically have another week until I can have my homebirth (39 weeks) oh reminds me I have to write my birthplan tonight!

bebejones - what a nightmare about the car tax, I just got my tax disc through today and I always know when the insurance is due as it's the day before DD1's birthday. We got a car for her arrival and got it the day before she was born, didn't even have it taxed when DP drove me to the hospital.

Was it you that was saying about cats and babies? I have 3 cats and they were fine with the baby, it was a case of give the thing a wide berth. Now they are older two of them actually quite like DD1 as she is gentle with them, she adores them, DD2 is still a bit rough though. One of them hates everyone not just children. It's so funny at night they emerge from our bedroom about 7.45pm just in time for the DDs going to bed, it's as if it's their time, we get rid of the kids and the cats descend looking for attention.

cass - I remember you getting your Xsara same time I got our CMAX I still can't park it either but driving it is fine.

Donutmum - aww your poor DS what a shock for you, hope he's on the mend now, kids have a habit of shrugging things off leaving us parents with shattered nerves.

heffa - honestly cannot remember if LOs move during labour, mine probably did but I didn't notice, both of them came out very angry I remember that, especially DD2 until she found a boob (which sums up the first 6 months of her life really)

aggie - DP has said yes to the P&T just need to wrestle his credit card out his hands now

Just had my daily fruit intake washed down with more water and 2 raspberry leaf tablets.

Poledra · 26/06/2008 16:44

Bebejones, how stressful for you - glad it all got sorted out. FWIW, I do all that sort of stuff in our house (dh cannot drive so car is mine) and I can't see why they were being so difficult about it. You can arrange insurance (and get a cover note) in advance of the insurance actually starting - you specify the date that you want it to start. Then you can use that cover note for the tax disc - I have done this when buying cars before. And, as a warning, not all comp insurance allows you to drive another car TP, so make sure you've checked your policy before you do it!

With your insurance company not wanting to move your policy, I had that too, though it's a bit more explicable in my case. I (reluctantly) exchanged a Saab estate for an MPV, and the company I was with did not insure 7-seaters (though not sure why not, now I think about it). Anyway, hope you enjoy your new car - my dad has had 3 Zafiras in a row as he likes them so much, so I hope the Meriva is as good.

Been in town today and really fed up - did not get half the things done I wanted to do as I am so blardy slow at moving . However, have treated myself to some new CDs so enjoying some mellow sounds while I lie on the sofa and try to deflate my feet before going to collect the children. Bloody knackered too, as dh's hayfever is making him snore and I might have to kill him soon .

JacobsPrincess · 26/06/2008 16:51

Don't you hate it when DH "catches" you on MN and then thinks you've done nothing all day except sit on your arse chatting??
This is inspite of all evidence to the contrary -
DS delivered to and from playgroup ON TIME
Birthday cake baked
Shopping done & larder fully stocked
Sausage rolls & mini sauasges for bday party cooked
Loaf of hand made bread rising in kitchen
Even the bathroom has been cleaned (but I will admit my Mum did this!)

What more does he want? A floor show?!

EEC · 26/06/2008 16:57

We got 2 'new' cars at the w/e so I have had all the tax/insurance hassle too. For one car I couldn't change the insurance to the new car, so had to start again and have only just managed to get the other one taxed today and have been using it all week for the school run! Oops Still, all sorted now and they are much better than our old bangers...

Lovely present libralady.

Thanks for nice back to back birth story mummypig. I have spent all day in unusual positions to try and shift the little darling. Am typing this while sitting back to front on chair!
