Hi everyone! I was going to bed early, but you know how it is...need my MN fix!

I have become deaf to ideas about how I give birth TBH. My Consultant wrote in large red letters on my file - not suitable for vaginal delivery. End of story! MW came around today to discuss my recovery knowing full well I had broken ribs (which are getting better but still hurt). So a transverse baby, severe SPD and broken ribs, a no brainer.

I know there are many good MW out there, sadly I have not come across many of them. I appreciate what they do and for some people they can have such a wonderful birth with great assistance from MW. I am not one of those people... So why on earth MW today could not see that is beyond me.

Anyway back to hair removal. I am thinking I really should go and get waxed but am a bit embarassed by my HUGE (and shame - hairy) belly. Plus has been a while since I have looked down there and I am worried the waxer lady could go missing in action! Do I dare book? Oh decisions decisions!

Yes in a month almost all of us will have become a Mummy! Wow!

disneystar · 02/07/2008 22:55

my DH does my legs and yes my hairy tummy for me then he massages lots of moisturiser in for me its total bliss
tonight he came home from work with a roomba for me i have tested it out it is great going to be so helpful to me in the future

cilc missing in action that is funny made me laugh

disneystar · 02/07/2008 23:00

i have 5 days left till i know i will be a mummy again

im wondering how kaz is she has been on my mind a lot today

Poledra · 02/07/2008 23:07

disneystar, I want your dh - fancy trading with mine? He objects to cutting my toenails for me at the moment, even though I only ask straight after I've had a shower. And he is the one who always cuts the dc's nails, so it's not like he's not had a lots of practice.

CilC, am going tomorrow for legs and bikini line, also worried that beautician will faint at the sight of what I cannot see. Will report back on her reaction!!

So glad it's cooled down today (yes, I know it's been pretty miserable where you are, Rumpel, Sweetkitty et al) but I felt really quite ill yesterday evening with the heat. I'm not good with heat at the best of times, and my other two dcs were winter babies so I haven't had to deal with this before.

Congrats to mummypig, and beepbeep, thast sounds like such a lovely birth - v as I will be advised against delivering in the pool.

Re sweeps, I had 2 with dd1 and found them to be no worse than a smear test, so would think about trying one again if I go over with this one. Got a problem that dd1 has a visit to her new school the day before I'm due and Sports Day at her preschool 2 days after - arrrgh! I'm going to have to miss one of these, amn't I?

disneystar · 02/07/2008 23:13

ive felt odd allday here last night woke up several times with cramps both sides which is unusual for me
all day had period pains on and off coupled with a few contractions
nothin concrete but the first signs that he might make a move himself which i am hoping for
dont know if you guys know what i mean but when im usually due my period i have a terrible lower backache and i know if i dont go to the loo and do something theres gonna be a mess
thats how ive felt allday also when ive had the pains ive had to stop walking it was impossible to walk with the pressure

mcchesers · 03/07/2008 05:21

hope this is the start of something disney!

I have been up all night with random itches and screaming fits of insane scratching. Apparently this rash isn't going to get better and I'm now in a position to suggest induction. I'm thinking it's not a bad idea considering the other possibility of waiting 2-3 weeks. youch!

The pool is out for me now, as I can barely bathe and if I'm induced then it's an epidural for sure. I'd like to at least talk about it with the midwife, but DH says he'd support me either way. Poor guy..he does so much for me. I just want to give him a healthy son. He had me giggling about names for my belly last night. The best were:

Belly Savalas,Hairy Bellyfante and
Forrest Bump

I'm with you lot, let's just get on with it already thinking of kaz x

CilC · 03/07/2008 07:33

Sorry to hear about the itchies mcchesers. It really must be driving you insane. Is your skin getting raw?
There is nothing really to suggest, it sounds like you have tried everything...I hope your LO comes very soon.

Love the names! You may not have heard of these books yet, but little ones seem to love then, my DD does - I think it has a NZ author. Anyway they are based on a character called Hairy McClary. That is what I call my belly!

Hang in there!

Yes am beginning to think Kaz is definitely up to something! hope all is going well!

disneystar · 03/07/2008 07:33

mcchesers your itching sounds crazy well enough to drve you up the wall sorry if i missed a few posts an im sure you have answered this already but whats causing it?

sleepycat made it throught the night but only just woke up at 3am terrible urge to go to bathroom then pains and cramps for 3 hours not just tightenings but the underneath pains that kinda take your breath away as well went to bed at 5.30 all went away
dh gone to work till late tomorrow night got no one here if he decides to come tonight so gonna have to play it by ear

CilC · 03/07/2008 07:35

wow disney we crossed over by one second!!!
Good morning anyway! Hope LO stays put for at least one more day.

sweetkitty · 03/07/2008 07:59

morning so no babies in the night then? This was was going mad this is her new routine, head butt my pelvis for a few hours every night, kick off a whole load of BHs, give me niggles and pains then when I lie down for bed stop! Little madam.

Disney - it is kind of frustrating isn't it, you get your hopes up then everything stops.

mcchesers - I know induction is not nice and it's better to go yourself but it's going to be a long 3 weeks for you, what about a compromise say give it another week until your 40 weeks and if he's not here then induction, then you've done your bit so to speak and going overdue is utterly miserable without having a mad itch. I think your completely right get the epidural straight away as well, thats what I would be doing.

CliC - that MW sounds like a nightmare with all your troubles and a transverse baby a VB? Sounds like a hiding to nothing i.e. you would end up with a csection anyway. I know everyone goes on about natural being best but at the end of the day who cares how they get here as long as they are here and you and they are OK.

Well happy 39 weeks to me this is the night I want my baby to be born, midwife is coming round later to hook up gas and air, friends are on call although DP has been "thinking" about it and he doesn't want the DDs in the house whilst I'm labouring as I make too much noise and he thinks it will distress them, I have already told DD1 that shouting and screaming helps Mummy get the baby out in case she hears anything. My friend has said any time day or night I can take them to her house though and SIL is also coming up.

EEC · 03/07/2008 08:07

mcchesers - funny belly names! LOL. So sorry about itching.

Disney - felt exactly like you yesterday, was rather hoping it was a sign but nothing this morning. Sigh. Hope things work out for you and LO waits for DH to comer home. Mine is still working away, staying away everyother night. Help!

SK - congrats on 39! Hope baby comes tonight!

I had a go at trimming myself 'downstairs' last night in the mirror! Oh dear. Big mistake! Think I won't look at it again!

purplejennyrose · 03/07/2008 08:10

disney and sk, lots of luck.
cilc - lol at hairy mclary tummy (I love those books!) - I have a disturbing image of a big pregnant belly with a very hairy dog's face on it now...

isaidno · 03/07/2008 08:11

Today is my due date! Poppy is 15 days old and it's like I always had her! Can barely remember being pregnant!

Hope all you ladies have beautiful babies very soon! Have we had any July babies yet?

JODIEhavingababy · 03/07/2008 08:12

Morning..

SK My MIL said the same to me too, about having DS in the house during the early stages, before I can go to hospital, she said she'd rather have him than him see me in 'distress'! (I think he might prove a welcome distraction NOT!)

McChesers Poor you! I really feel for you, itching is the most horrible form of torture, there is no release. At least with my Sciatica I can sit down (sometimes)! I think I'd ask for an induction too, well at least talk about it with someone.

I've been thnking of Kaz too, I wonder of she can get on T'internet where she is yet (as she's only just moved to her friends) But I bet she has had her baby!!!

Disney Hope everything goes OK with you today and your little 'un decides to come on his own accord!

I had a scary call yesterday, I;ll start from the beginning though (might be long) When I was in labour with DS mum and dad were visiting my sister who was working in Spain... Anyway she called me and 'told' me I was in labour (which I was, but didn't want her to know as I didn't want to worry mum and dad as they were coming back the next day anyway, and it was still only early stages for me)... Right this time she has said all along 4th July.. (Tomorrow.. eek) Anyway yesterday she text me (she's travelling in Oz) to find out if I was OK, as she had a feeling I was poorly, ie more than a cold poorly! Well I have Laryngitus.... Scary...
I hope she's right with the dates though! (I am having stomach/period cramps every 10 mins or so, and a big clear out, but nothing to take my breath away yet!)

sweetkitty · 03/07/2008 08:22

oh Jodie looks good for you

I think this LO is very happy in here and is just playing at headbutting my pelvis.

Been thinking about kaz too she has had a lot to deal with, hope she posts a birth announcement today.

isaidno - happy due date DD1 was 15 days early too, it is amazing how quickly you forget about being pregnant, I am "trying" to treasure these last few days as this is the last time I will ever be pregnant.

Minkus · 03/07/2008 08:47

Oh wow jodie fingers crossed this is the beginning of the end!

gillythekid · 03/07/2008 08:54

SK I have paracetamol and codiene for the SPD too but it takes ages to take effect. I used to take Tramadol for endometriosis pain years ago and I remember that it took 6 hours or so to make me feel spaced out. On Monday night I took 500g Para +30g codiene at 10pm and another 30g at 2am, I spent Tuesday in a haze, sleeping and feeling a little nauseas so haven't taken any more. Last night the pain was really bad. Have you figured a good routine with it?

DonutMum · 03/07/2008 08:54

Morning all. Got another lazy day to get through. Waiting in for midwife and, hopefully, sleeping a lot. Trying to forget am waiting for a baby and pretending am on holiday ha ha. Off to my friend's house this evening for a natter and a glass of wine. She's my birthing partner so if I go into labour, she'll just get the marigolds out and boil a kettle.

I was looking at the photos of me after the boys were born and I look HIDEOUS!! So, strict instruction to my friend - only pics of baby until I've got full hair and make up done, along with proper bra and not nasty birthing t-shirt.

Sweetkitty, am 39 weeks tomorrow and v excited. DS1 was born 39+3. Am also wondering what to do with the boys when I'm in labour. If it's at night, we should be fine cos they sleep very deeply but if they are around, think I'll have them taken out so I'm not distracted by worrying about them or, worse, by them trying to "help" lol.

Disney, hope you're on and Jodie, fingers crossed.

pigleychez · 03/07/2008 09:44

Morning all,

Exciting for those of you with movements/feelings/pains!! Lets hope its the start

Well i was very shocked this morning when i heard DH's alarm going off at 7.. Id slept right through!! Then he left and i went back off till 9.15... Super!

Sorry your still itching Mcchessers
Cant think what else to suggest??

Loving the belly names

Im 39 weeks on Sat...Got the midwife this afternoon so see what bubbas been up to and if theres been any more engagement.
Fingers crossed the BP's ok again this week.

Heffagooday · 03/07/2008 09:53

Re hair removal - I'm still managing to shave my legs (not terribly skilfully) but have given up on underneath. I trimmed it last week but it was difficult when I couldn't see!

CilC - the MW who I don't like at my antenatal unit is very very pro-MW. She was talking the other day about doctors and how they're good but they don't know how to communicate with patients like MWs do (which depends on the doctor/MW IME). She also talked a bit about how breech babies could still be delivered vaginally etc - I think she does just have a chip on her shoulder about the fact that MWs aren't always the best carers. Anyway, the MW you've been talking about sounds like she could be like that?

Disney - hope it's starting for you! I felt a bit like that yesterday a lot and was up all night with period pains (3 hours sleep ) and backache. Actually, I woke up at 3am to go to the loo as well (after sleeping) and then couldn't sleep again. Think I grabbed an extra 30mins sometime around 6am.

Mcchesers - lots of sympathy for your itching, it must be torture.

SK - congratulations on 39 weeks!

Jodie - scary about the phone calls! Maybe you'll be next

Pigley - wow, a whole night's sleep! Lucky thing!

Glad I'm not the only one with a giant hairy belly! DH thinks mine looks like a tiger because of the stripes and the fur (not that I have orange fur!)
