Let's hope the rest of the eggs get cracking very soon!

Absolutely whinegums - your baby's health needs to come first. Glad he has apologised and hopefully he will come to his senses re smoking in the flat.

Am starting to get really p'd off as I've been getting headaches pretty regularly for about a week now (you may recall my mw suggested it was the weather ). Apart from when I had my fall I didn't even need a paracetemol the entire pregnancy and now I'm having to take them every day. Grrrrr.

ktpie · 23/06/2008 12:43

I'm back from my walk, doesn't seem to have encouraged baby out. Got some chocolate cookies that were on offer at M&S and some grapes in a vain attempt to balance it out!

DQ rubbish about the headaches, you could have done with a more useful response from your midwife!

bitofadramaqueen · 23/06/2008 12:50

She did tell me keeping my sugar levels up for example by eating chocolate would help. I aint no doctor but I would have thought lots of sugar/chocolate would make headaches worse (Not that my headaches will stop me nipping out for some choccy biscuits later)

Enjoy your chocolate cookies ktpie.

Have managed to shower and get dressed so far today. Hurrah!

ktpie · 23/06/2008 13:10

DQ she sounds loopy!
I've just tested 2 cookies and they were good!

bitofadramaqueen · 23/06/2008 13:11

She's mad as a brush ktpie. Mmmm, cookies....

whinegums · 23/06/2008 13:18

DQ, good lord, did that woman even do any training??!! If I were you, I'd be asking to check her qualifications.

However, cookies are always good, and I'll remind everyone that we MUST/NEED TO eat chocolate every day to prevent pre-eclampsia.

bitofadramaqueen · 23/06/2008 14:04

Oh, I know she's awful. Wont have to deal with her for too much longer though (hopefully!!!). DH wants me to ring about headaches but I know my MW off tomorrow so I think I'll ring then and I can speak to the other one. Going to get chocolate biscuits now, just to ward off the pre-eclampsia obviously...

LauraT · 23/06/2008 14:06

Hi all, now I want cookies too... I've got chocolate digestives, but they aren't doing it. have done hee haw today apart from get up, showered and dressed. might have lunch, that would be exciting!

DH phoned to say he's going to leave work early so that's adding some excitement to the day - perhaps a walk later!!

lazy day today is due to v busy day yesterday when I met my cousin for lunch in the city centre, went to my friend's musical rehearsal and then to another friend's house for sunday dinner/birthday tea. the days certainly pass quicker when you do stuff and you're still waiting don't they!

Well done to those of you who have quit smoking while pregnant, it must be so hard to give up something you enjoy while also feeling crap. I gave up chocolate for 2 years once, certainly couldn't have done it while pregnant whilegums glad your DP is being more rational today, I'm sure part of it is the tension of waiting for the LO to arrive, my DH is getting more uptight than I am - I'm sure it's something to do with worrying about us and the birth and not being able to do anything about it!

I think you should go to the ice cream parlour on Cresswell lane as your treat... mmmm ice cream with cookies in....

pleasechange · 23/06/2008 14:26

Well as my sweets didn't arrive I finally ventured out to local shops. Got some very nice chocolate cheesecake - yum.

Even such a short trip was uncomfortable though. Shoes (any shoes) no longer fit me - my feet are like clubs attached to the end of my legs. Also kept having to pull jeans up and pull top down to avoid exposing mounds of bump

LauraT · 23/06/2008 14:31

I'm intrigued by the sweets allnew what kind are they? surely they can't be as good as chocolate cheesecake??

pleasechange · 23/06/2008 14:37

Boiled sweets called brandy balls (don't think they actually have brandy in them tho )

goingfor3 · 23/06/2008 15:01

Toothpain feeling really bad at the moment, the dentist made it worse with all her fiddling. I'm going to pot for an extraction, it's the back bottom tooth - I just can't tolerate it anymore. I wish thursday will come around really fast. Paracetamol is touching the pain so I have been using nurofen as an emergency dr I saw said it would be fine - I need something stroger though as that's loosing effect.

debinaustria · 23/06/2008 15:08

hi everyone

sorry to have abandoned you all, but got mum and mil here and ethan keeps me pretty busy too. typing 1 handed ! ethan is gorgeous and last night only fed at midnight 3, and 6 - i can cope with that, much better than the hourly feeds 2 nights ago.

only problem i have after the birth is the most horrendous piles - any advice anyone?

congratulations to all other graduates and to those still waiting - good luck .

whinegums · 23/06/2008 15:14

Laura, no chocolate for 2 years?! I salute you! Giving up smoking wasn't hard, I'd gone right off it anyway by that point luckily. DP admitted he'd been in a strange mood last night, there's a lot going on as well as imminent baby.

Oooh, would love to get to the ice cream parlour, but between back and bump ache and stabbing pains in my nethers, I think I'll have to rely on the Ben and Jerry's in the freezer. I also have a bar of Green and Blacks butterscotch chocolate, mmmmmm.

Hope your brandy balls turn up Allnew!

G43, you can have codeine, that worked for me (paracetamol and codeine combo, you can get it over the counter).

pleasechange · 23/06/2008 15:19

Does anyone know where bun2 went to? - just noticed she hasn't posted in a while

goingfor3 · 23/06/2008 15:42

debinaustria, glad to hear the feeding has got better. It's funny when you say something like 'he only woke for feeding three times in the night' and see it as a positive whereas other people look horrifed at the thouught of being woken so many times! Anusol is good for piles, I bought some in Waitrose and it was less than £3, I'm sure you can get something similar.

goingfor3 · 23/06/2008 15:44

whinegums I will try to get some codine next time I'm out. I'm really looking forward to getting the tooth out. How did it feel when you had your extraction?

Josey Thinking about you and Olivia and hoping she's making even more progress!

poppy34 · 23/06/2008 15:45

acupuncture seemed to help.. very painful and certainly felt something but forgotten that as had phone call from work re year end review. (yes I know I packed in weeks ago... but this is my work for you -takes weeks to get an answer).

Although not bad per se, lets just say that my paritcular circs weren't taken into account so my rating wasn't as good as I would like which has impact on promotion and poss even future maternity benefits etc. I was feeling pretty ambivalent about my role etc but this has put tin lid on it.. even though I knew it would happen have been sitting here sobbing for last hour .

feeling very fed up = no sign of baby and naively wanted to get all loose ends tied at work so could actually go back to job I might find a bit fulfilling rather than same old crap.

know its not really baby related but has really got me down.. should have never taken the call.

poppy34 · 23/06/2008 15:48

at last post -know its silly but feel better for just typing that...

pleasechange · 23/06/2008 15:50

poppy what bad timing re. the review - sorry to hear that it's got you down, not exactly what you needed. Don't know if there's any way you could appeal it - or maybe it's best to try to put it aside for now (impossible I know when it's just happened and you're feeling vulnerable anyway). It's really unreasonable for them to wait until now to tell you as well.

If you're anything like me you won't have wanted to hear anything about work for now - in a sort of limbo-like bubble where real life things like work just aren't appealing

sophiewd · 23/06/2008 15:54

OK Rolf, I am back, have altered the birth date on mine. Hope wveryone is OK.

AmberC - don't overdo it, it does take a while to get over a section so take it easy.

Josey - hope Olivia is still making progress.

Deb - we are doing those hours aswell and is OK, DH manages to get the milk for me and then goes back to sleep but does do DD in the morning so I get to sleep after th 6 feed.

goingfor3 · 23/06/2008 15:56

poppy34 don't feel , it's really bad timing to get news like that and at a time when you can't do much about it.

poppy34 · 23/06/2008 15:58

allnew- that was part of issue re work as have forgotten about it and didnt really care.

I cant really appeal it and tbh of itself its not that bad its more the knock on implications re role in future and lack of recognition.

Trying hard with the aid of M&S bag of shrimps and some interent shopping to forget ..seems to be working...

think best cure would be the arrival of my dd

sophiewd · 23/06/2008 16:04

Ouch - DD just elbowed me in scar.

Poppy34 winge away, hope your DD makes an appearance soon.

poppy34 · 23/06/2008 16:08

that is prob more painful but less messy than the catheter bag sophie

am hoping good cry does something to your hormones to bring on dd..I rather suspect she is instead thinking I'll wait til mum calms down as there is only one person who should have attention when crying in this house..
