poppy - that is the last thing you needed at the moment. Not surprised you are upset.

sophie - glad you are back to sort out the list! It was very stressful without you!

Well I've been for my walk, been sitting on my ball all afternoon and am now drinking my last cup of raspberry leaf tea. Hoping this will all prompt an appearance! It's certainly been wriggling around in there, hope it's in a downward direction!

poppy34 · 23/06/2008 16:28

mm raspberry leaf tea ..tastes so delicious. Someone told me you can use it after the birth to help tone things up. Such a relief as not sure I could cope without my delicious dose of RLT.

Looking at list we've got a few serious over done eggs there... wasn't gemmalou being induced early? and what happened to nettyhay? Also mellymel was on til little while away so can only assume the best and that she is busy..

Sarahpo · 23/06/2008 17:28

Hello i have only got one week left but this SDP/PGP thing has really flared up badly today. Is anyone else due in June suffering with pelvic pain? I didn't go out today so i am feeling really sorry for myself. I imagine though that a lot of you who are waiting to 'hatch' are less mobile....or is it just me?
I am also very worried about labour as i can't imagine how i am going to cope with the pain, i have been in constant pain for three months ARG!
sorry to be not very cheery. I love reading all the posts though and of course all the birth stories :-)

Essie3 · 23/06/2008 17:29

Hi folks, Mr Essie here again. Just to let you know that Iestyn went into hospital in the early hours of the morning as he wasn't able to keep much down - he would feed, then bring it back up quite contentedly (rather more than just a burp or a possit (sp?)). Anyway, the doctors think that he's got a problem with an immature oesophagus and they've prescribed Gaviscon (!), with mixed success so far: hence the emergency dash home to stock up on clean clothes for Essie and Iestyn, as Iestyn has no sense of direction when being sick!! In the grand scheme of things, it's not something they're terribly worried about but I hope to have some more positive news tomorrow. Meanwhile, Iestyn is charming all the nurses on the children's ward, having run out of nurses to seduce on the post-natal ward!

bitofadramaqueen · 23/06/2008 17:48

poppy - sorry to hear about work, this is all ringing a bell, am I right in thinking that you anticipated that this would happen? Not that that makes it any better though. Hope your LO turns up soon to cheer you up.

Have a pot of RLF going cold (cant bear it hot!) and made DH promise to remind me to drink it.

Headache has been particularly bad this afternoon, but mad as a brush mw off tomorrow so will wait till then to phone the docs.

Goingfor3 I can definitely recommend soluble panadol (sorry, might have mentioned that already today). Mix one or two up in a very small amount of water and swirl around the sore tooth for as long as poss. That and combination of nurofen plus (400mg ibuprofen) really helped me when I had agonising dental pain a couple of years back while I was waiting to go to the dentist. I had all sorts of work done then - root canal, extraction... Make sure you're stocked up on painkillers for after the extraction too. The pain wont be as bad, but it will be a bit sore for a while.

poppy34 · 23/06/2008 18:05

mr essie/essie -sorry to hear about iestyn's setback but it sounds like they might be helping and its clearly not doing his lady killing powers any harm

bdq you're right that did have hunch it would happen but knowing you're right is no consolation. feeling cheerier now (dh came home ) and have some other ideas - just need to get back to moving dd out...

G43 another vote here for the magic power of nurofen plus..

sarahposorry to hear about the pain... haven't been in constant pain but last week groin issues have been bad so can only sympathise about it given your suffering. TBH re pain, I'm planning on not being proud and going in the words of my friend for"the full menu" if I need it...

bitofadramaqueen · 23/06/2008 18:16

I thought so poppy - glad your DH has cheered you up.

All hail the power of nurofen plus - I so wish I could take some now for my headache...

Sarahpo sorry to hear about your pain and sorry also to hear that Iestyn is in hospital mressie. Glad to hear that he's charming all the nurses!

josey · 23/06/2008 18:56

Quick post
Olivia has been great today doing well off O2 she went for her next MRI in a pram...I got to bath her...they are trying to spread her feeds out further...Me and DH are going to stay at the hospital Fri and Sat cause they are looking at her coming home on Sunday

The speach therepist was in to see her today as well and as she can swallow and has a bit of a suck she has been given a premi dodo, for us to help her to suck when she gets her feed. Its all a step for her to possibly feed on her own.

She was awake quite a bit today and at last I have a pic with her eyes open.

TGF I have tried to email you a couple of times has is worked?

Amberc · 23/06/2008 19:48

Sarahpo - I had SPD dreadfully although not as bad as some who I know have had to use crutches/walking frame. t was terrible during the last mnths of pregnancy as I was really housebound. The good thing is that it has completely gone now I have had the baby so things do get better. Also I didn't feel any worse for it during labour. Apparently it's better as your pelvis is more open (the thing that causes the pain when not in labour!)

Had a good day today - I love my baby! Had the in laws round and he was passed from pillar to post poor little thing and he didn't even really get that grumpy. Glad I can have him back though as DH's mum gave him his last two (TWO!!!!) feeds and I like doing it.

Goingfor3 - are you having an extraction without any anaesthesia? I hate the dentist - I need sedation for a check up!

PearTart · 23/06/2008 19:52

stupid-mum moment today

I'd been eating strawberries in Greek yoghurt and had dropped some on DD2 whilst holding her in my other arm. I looked down and saw this mess of red and goopy white staining her sleep suit and immediately thought the worst... it was at a point just opposite her cord stump , until I realised it was just a bit of strawb. Duh

Also keep doing double takes if I've been away from her for even a minute and then walk back into the room.

Feeding going well but still painful at the starts and boobs still horribly heavy. Have been having hot baths and cold flannels (thanks for advice).

G43- good luck w dentist

Deb- piles- keep squeezing anus muscles, use Anusol and drinks loads of water and eat nice high fibre stuff to avoid aggravating them. And have something other to do whilst on loo (nail file handy etc) so that you don't hurry bowel movements.

Josey- I love your posts and am so glad to hear of Olivia's progress. You are so right- she's a fighter.

POsitive labour/ birth vibes to all those still waiting/ getting fed up.

bitofadramaqueen · 23/06/2008 20:00

That's great news josey Deb sorry to hear about your piles. Hope you find a remedy that works!

Rolf · 23/06/2008 21:51

G43 sorry about your tooth. I had root canal work done when DD1 was 5 months old and I was still bfeeding. I was told to alternate paracetamol and ibuprofen. The pain is awful isn't it?

Josey that's brilliant news about Olivia hopefully going home

Deb hope you find something that helps. My Embarassing Problem is "waterworks" Hoping it will go away if I pretend it's not there.

Sarahpo - poor you with spd. Hope you don't have long to go.

Poppy - you employers sound horrible. Would you consider writing a letter setting out your concerns about the review? just so it's on your file for if/when they try to shaft you in the future?

Rolf · 23/06/2008 21:52

Essie - hope Iestyn is home soon.

Essie3 · 23/06/2008 22:28

Mr Essie back again, still with Essie and Iestyn in hospital. He brought up most of his evening feed, despite Gaviscon, so I suspect another night in hospital beckons whilst they try plan B (whatever that is). Thanks for the messages, which I'll pass on to Essie tomorrow. I know she misses reading the gossip here!

libralady · 24/06/2008 01:52

Hi, just to let you know about the arrival of Luke Thomas Jacob at 8.07am yesterday.

Birth story below and piccies updated on profile.

DH eventually arrived home on Saturday night at 10.20pm. Too knackered to try and get things moving along.

Sunday am he woke up with a stinking cold (he is so run down with all the travelling/extra hours/worry he has been dealing with). Wanted him to go back to bed and rest ready for this next week in London, but instead he got out in the garden and did a bit of weeding and then helped me clean my car and install baby car seat.

Decided to make a concerted effort to get things moving so DH massaged my back with lavender and clary sage and I did the same with my bump and boobs.
When it was time to go to bed, I knew I could face a night with DH as he was so bunged up and sniffing etc, I thought he'd keep me awake and I'd probably disturb him with my frequent trips to the loo/cramps and graons when turning over so I decided to sleep downstairs on the sofa.
Woke at 1am for the first trip to the loo.

Settled back down and was just dozing when I thought 'that doesn't feel right' so rolled off sofa onto hands and knees on floor and my waters went. Got to the loo and another gush came out. Came back into longe, logged onto MN whilst bouncing on birthing ball, stood up to get a drink and more came out (luckily had a bath sheet wrapped around me).

Went and woke DH and said 'I don't think you are going to London today' and told him to go back to sleep, but he insisted he got up to be with me, even though I wasn't having any pains so to speak.

Phoned hospital who insisted I went in straight away so they could monitor/swab/check for meconium and infection before sending me back home to await labour. I wanted to wait until a more civilised hour but they wouldn't hear of it. Called my Mum who luckily lives around the corner and she came and sat DS1

Had a couple of twinges on the way. They checked my waters had broken and confirmed that although blood stained, there was no infection/meconium.

Had a few more intermittant pains and they offered that I could go home, or go to the waiting room of the birthing unit to see what developed. They had booked me in for an induction at 8am Tuesday if nothing had significantly started but the MW was in no doubt I'd go soon so didn't really want me going home.

After 20 minutes she called me back to the delivery suite and checked me out as I'd had a few more stronger contractions and I measure 3cm. Got on the birthing ball and swayed from side to side when having a contraction and eventually they increased with intensity and frequency. Eventually at 6.30 I requested G&A.

The shift changed at 7.30 and the MW who had been looking after me was on her final shift at our hospital before moving to another part of the country. She examined me just before handing over and I was 8cm and she could feel the baby coming down. Handover complete 7.45 but she stayed and she wanted one final baby and knew it was close. By this point I had the urge to push. Insisted DH made sure I was listening to MWs this time (didn't with DS1 and had 3rd degree tear). Luke came out in 3 pushes, and unfortunatly did tear, but not as babdly as last time even though he didn't come out all at once like DS1 did.

He had the cord wrapped around his neck twice (just like DS1) but fortunately the cord was very long (just like DS1).
Placed straight onto tummy and DH cut the cord this time. Confirmed he was a boy and boy was I relieved (sorry no pun intended).

Had a cuddle and was then stitched, had some coffee and toast, a shower and was then allowed to leave just 3 hours after he was born.

We are all extremely happy especially as DH hasn't had to go back to London this week. DH is so proud. He went to the pub tonight to wet Luke's head with his brothers, mates and half the cricket club. I think it has done him the world of good.

I stayed home and my BF (godmother to Luke) came around and kept me company and played taxi driver for her DH, my DH and my Dad.

God I am wittering now aren't I?

Luke is chuntering away to himself and I can't get to sleep. Think the adrenaline is still flowing or something.

Might try a cup of Ovaltine..................

debinaustria · 24/06/2008 07:01

LL - congratulations on the safe arrival(and quick) of Luke - he's gorgeous

Josey - Wow, sounds like Olivia is doing really well, wouldn't that be great to have her home?

Essie - sorry to hear about Iestyn having to be in hospital, hope he gets sorted out soon. Mr Essie - you must really miss them after getting used to your family.

Had another good night here, must be why he feeds so much in the day!! Much better that way round though. Piles still pretty traumatic, and constipation doesn't help either, but surely they won't last much longer, surely?

debinaustria · 24/06/2008 07:07

Just added another photo to my profile, of Stefan with Ethan, one of my favourites

ErnestTheBavarian · 24/06/2008 07:22

hi, just the quickest hello, I'm now on my own with 4 (lovely?!) children, so rather busy. Well, 3 more days till summer holidays, then the will hit the fan Got to go now to try and convert my driving licence from swiss to german. Only 2 children in tow.

Josey, really pleased to hear Olivia's doing so well, and may even be coming home soon. Briliant news

aberdeenhiker · 24/06/2008 08:13

libra - congrats!!!!

josey, sounds like Olivia is doing so well, we can't wait to visit you all at home (once you're settled - don't worry that I'll be trying to show up Monday morning!)

Mr. Essie - my DS1 was on gaviscon religiously for the first 6 months of his life and my younger brother had a lot of trouble with an incomplete valve at the top of his tummy so I've been puked on more than anyone on the planet. I'm hoping it's just something like this for you guys as it's really minor healthwise - laundry isn't so bad!

Amberc · 24/06/2008 09:23

Congrats Libra! What a fantastic name - great minds think alike!

Just put baby Luke in his rocker (which goes on batteries and has music playing). He's dropped off but I'm afraid to turn it off now!

I hope little Iestyn gets better soon.

Is anyone else's bleeding getting worse rather than better?

poppy34 · 24/06/2008 10:08

libra -great birth story. I read it out to the bump to try and encourage her out but its not working... and all I've got from acupuncture yesterday are some bruises!!

pleasechange · 24/06/2008 11:02

Morning all - Happy due date to me!

Congratulations libra - and the photos of Luke are lovely

sarahpo - I've had spd as well and so sympathise. Mine is worst when I get up at night, but also can't walk very far - about 50 yards is my max. so I either drive or don't go anywhere!

ktpie · 24/06/2008 11:06

Libra - congratulations!

Essie - Hope Iestyn gets better and home soon.

Josey - good news about Olivia!

No news from here, just getting increasingly antisocial, have become a grumpy cow and have taken to ignoring phone calls and texts.
Accidentally answered the phone to my friend last night and had to put up with "Are you nervous?" "How are you feeling?" "Any signs yet?" etc etc despite my attempts to change the conversation.
Feel really bad as it is just because people care but it really isn't helping!

ktpie · 24/06/2008 11:07

allnew - happy due date!

poppy34 · 24/06/2008 11:14

I am with you on the grumpy ktpie - if your friend had added "enjoy this time as you won't have it again after the baby is born" you would have had the full house of trite things people say to full term mums
