Many congratulations Deb.

I have updated list, taken of a few more names who haven't posted for months.

I am going to have a baby tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!

libralady · 18/06/2008 08:01

Debs, what fabulous news. Bet you are so proud. And respect for keeping us uptodate whilst labouing in the hospital!

Sophie - good luck for tomorrow.

Just one more day at work for me tomorrow than I may try to start things going at the weekend to try and prevent DH from having to be aware for 7 days solid with work.

Congratulations to everyone else who has hatched. I've been keeping up with the thread but by the time I write, I've forgotton all the details. I'm blaming pregnancy brain.

Josey - how's it going with Olivia? Hope the test result were more positive.

Better get DS ready for playschool.

ktpie · 18/06/2008 08:49

Wow congratulations Debs! Can't wait to see the pics of Ethan.

sophie - how exciting, enjoy your last baby free day!

Greenfairy - hope you managed to get a bit more sleep and things are feeling a bit more positive today. How annoying about your washing machine, typical that all the big expenses come at once.

aberdeenhiker · 18/06/2008 08:54

Debs - congrats! and 4.5 kg with no stitches is amazing! I'm in awe.

greenfairy hugs! I know what it's like to be really disappointed in how birth went, I was pretty down on myself after DS1 was born. Also though, if Storm is feeding every hour, how long is she feeding for? If it's only for a short snack, you could try to stretch her to two hours between feeds by walking her in a pram or something and sometimes that makes them eat more and then stay settled for longer. It's something that worked for me with DS1, and I'm using it for Fraser too. But every baby is different and you'll know Storm best...

LauraT · 18/06/2008 09:19

Congratulations Debs, and LOL at someone referring to your DH as Mr Austria, I have visions of Arnold Schwarzenegger now!

Good luck tomorrow Sophie, even if I am jealous of your queue jumping

nothing happening here, MW appointment all fine now only 2/5 palapable and BP still ludicrously low...

mellymell · 18/06/2008 09:37

Debs and Mr Debs - many congrats. I take my imaginary hat off to you (and my eyes are watering a bit!)

Sophie - best of luck

GreenFairy - totally understand what you mean. Agree with the comments from others about talking to someone about it - it's ridiculous - we are fed the dream of a smooth natural birth, but it's rarely like this and it's so easy to feel that you didn't do it properly or you've been short changed. It sometimes can also affect how you feel towards your babe, so get as much support as you can. lots of hugs.

peartart - so much for the full moon. Did a naked fandango (well in my mind anyway) and still nothing.

Have resorted to drastic homeopathy - cauli florum and have another sweep today - wish me luck becuase it's starting to get embarrassing with the neighbours, my cleaning lady and my work colleagues! I'm starting to think I am an elephant with a 20 month gestation period!

Rolf · 18/06/2008 10:00

Well done Deb. v impressed at the lack of stitches and g&a. Lovely name, too.

GF - sorry you're feeling so low. Like everyone else, I was really impressed at the way you took control of your birth despite it not being what you'd wanted. All those annoying domestic things are too much on no sleep.

sophie good luck tomorrow . Are you still planning to call him Sebastian? (great name)

alipalli · 18/06/2008 10:05

Hi everyone

James here - Ali(palli)'s other half. That's right - after quite a wait, Peter finally greeted the world yesterday morning (Tuesday). Nothing in the this pregnancy was very quick and neither was the labour, but we now have a wonderful strapping (9lb 13oz!) son, an awesome mum and a proud dad.

I'll let Ali fill you in on the details, but I was really proud of the way that she stood up to the whole thing and seemed to bounce back very well afterwards, whilst maintaining a great attitude.

Big baby Alipalli, hope you are doing OK and many congratulations to you and James and welcome Peter.

PearTart · 18/06/2008 10:13

Morning All!
How are the new mums getting on?

Sophie- how exciting knowing you'll meet your baby tomorrow- hope it all goes smoothly.

Mellymell- I'm also using homepathy; caullophyllum- I think it's supposed to prepared the body for labour. Obviously I'm still waiting! The full moon is tonight BTW but I hope you enjoyed your naked fandango. I'll have to fit mine in between supper and going out with the NCT ladies. I think I'll leave my mobile phone, emergency contact numbers, and all useful birth-related stuff that I normally carry in my handbag at home. C'mon fate, come and get me if you dare!
Oh and also having a sweep today... Good luck with yours.

PearTart · 18/06/2008 10:15

Yey!!!
Well Done Alipalli!- we've been waiting for news. Thanks for posting Mr AP. Peter is a lovely name. Can't wait to hear the details in time.

poppy34 · 18/06/2008 10:27

Debs congrats on birth of ethan.. and very impressed re birth story.

big congrats to alipalli too can't wait to hear more about peter.

Good luck today sophie

got docs appt later but not expecting much as feeling very normal (am having a scan though to see baby position and strep b test).

Feeling quite virtuous as its nearly half ten and I haven't hit the chocolate biscuits yet and only just logged in...

and peartart it would be more of a full moon lumber than a dance the shape I'm in... lovely dh took a photo last night of his supersize wife (am paraphrasing as he was less than flattering in the actual description!)

PearTart · 18/06/2008 10:34

Ahh Poppy! Bless your DH. You should put the photo up. However, I really don't think a photo can capture what we go through to have babies.

I have already got through most of a packet of Choco-Leibniz.

TaurielTest · 18/06/2008 10:39

Oh dear, I need to appease the SPD gods. I had cabin fever after 2 days ML so decided last night to waddle to the pub for a Stitch-and-Bitch (15 minute walk - took me 30 with my Wiltshire belt on and I got a cab home). Seemed okay until I stood up... yowch. Can't take a step this morning. As my physio warned me wrt labour, I'm one of those PGP/SPD cases who doesn't realise she's overdoing it until she's overdone it.
Oh well, a day propped up on the couch watching DVDs doesn't sound too awful. As for labour signs, nada. I was having vaguely promising intermittent period-type cramps, but after going to the loo this morning they've gone away, so I guess they weren't in my uterus. Bah.

poppy34 · 18/06/2008 10:45

puddock - take it easy today as sounds thoroughly unpleasant for you - dvds on sofa should be most medicinal.

don't mind photo really - expect lo will be keen to see evidence of when she was renting a room with mum. but you're right don't do justice to what we go through -what set him off last night is belly button seems to be sticking out like a cup hook now.. don't ask me why but he finds this hilarious

PearTart · 18/06/2008 10:47

Oh no Puddock!
I'll send you the remaining chocolate biscuits on the promise of not getting of the sofa unless entirely necessary. (stitch & bitch sounds fun though!)

PregnantPenguin · 18/06/2008 10:49

Congratulations Debs and Alipalli!!! They're two big babies!

Still no baby and now I have no choc bics to help me cope....will need to go to tescos today! However I think I have finally had a show, I know that it doesn't mean labour is imminent, but it is the first sign I've had that this one has any intention of leaving my womb, so has cheered me up a bit. (Not 100% true actually, it cheered me up yesterday, but all I really want to do today is rant, unfortunately I'm too busy this morning to do so! )

PearTart & MellyMel - Good luck with your sweeps today!

Does anyone know if London hospitals automatically offer sweeps at 41 weeks, or am I being overly optimistic for my appointment tomorrow? I will be dancing naked tonight for sure...!

poppy34 · 18/06/2008 10:49

ok is it just more or is late pregnancy an excuse to turn into stig of the dump? I am apparently unable to eat or drink anything without it getting down my front... worst incident being when I got chocolate biscuit crumbs down the front of my bra (it was one of those cross over top type ones) and didn't realise til I went to bed and crumbs fell out.

[trudges off to wipe tea off her front for second time today]

thegreenfairy · 18/06/2008 10:54

Hi guys

First of all, congrats debs and allipalli. Two 10lbers! Mustbe something in the air.

Thanks for all your support re my feeling a bit low. I don't feel like am in the running for PND - DH has suffered depression in the past so am good at spotting signs in him and myself. I am just fed up.

Storm's feeding seems to be settling into a pattern of hourly or two hourly feeds during the night. Although I realise a 'pattern' at this stage is only going to last a few days it is bloody tough.
It wouldn't be so hard but she won't sleep in her moses basket at night and will only go off if I hold her. Our bed's too squashy to have her in for more than short periods so the last two nights have spent 4am to 10/11am on the sofa either feeding or holding her. The cuddles are lovely but not conducive to proper sleep...

I have had so much conflicting advice. Left to her own devices she wakes about every three hours for food during the day, and MW said every three was fine, but La Leche say I should be feeding every two hours, even if it means waking her up?!? She won't feed while she's asleep and usually needs a nappy change or similar to get her up.

Any veterans got any thoughts on this? HV coming today and no doubt will have yet another conflicting view.

PearTart · 18/06/2008 10:58

PP- I'd take that as a definite positive sign- as you say; at least something's coming out! I don't know about London hospitals but I think policy on sweeps vary a lot. I'd plead your case if you want one.

Poppy- you could be describing me . There's probably a formula that describes food accidents and size of bump.
