Mellymel - mending things is defo nesting. Pingu can get advanced if his friends visit as then you have to follow the story more closely.

Ball bouncing just seems to make me want to go to the loo.

GOODLUCK DEBS can't believe I missed that post!

TaurielTest · 17/06/2008 11:51

great idea poppy - a "postpartum platter" of verboten foods. i'm visualising a French meal - rare steak with raw-egg bearnaise sauce, followed by blue/rind-washed cheese and a big glass of wine. And sashimi - but possibly not at the same meal.
Wonderful to hear about everyone's arrivals - well done Essie, Rolf, Sponge... and thanks for the wonderful birth story Dylansmum. Hope it's not too long to wait for those of us at the back end of the month.

poppy34 · 17/06/2008 11:53

and oysters to go with the sashimi. Plus proper chocolate mousse puddock

mellymell · 17/06/2008 12:15

puddock - have already said stuff it as far as food and especially wine goes!

systemsaddict · 17/06/2008 12:27

teehee - just read latest messages as I am about to get the St Agur out of the fridge for a blue cheese salad stocked up on all such things when we ordered the ASDA at the weekend so now have blue cheese, soft cheese, cured meats galore! now will I get a chance to actually put it into a salad before she wakes up and needs something, that's the big question ...

poppy34 · 17/06/2008 12:49

stop gloating re blue cheese systemsaddict.

Having had two manic days now rooted to sofa so god knows what is in my fridge

PiggyPenguin · 17/06/2008 12:54

Congratulations to Rolf, spongebrainbigpants and Essie. Fantastic birth story Rolf, I can't believe you did so well and had a breech/hbirth to boot! I see Mr Essie has taunted us with the excitement of Essie's delivery too, can't wait to read it.

Good luck Debs - hopefully you have already delivered your little boy, but fingers crossed it has all gone/ is going well for you.

Crikey, it's all go again isn't it?!

PregnantPenguin · 17/06/2008 12:55

Ernest - I'd also go for the second one. Although you may be hanging round, it suggests that they may be more flexible. My drs sometimes do this, "just come in and we'll fit you in when we can" attitude.

LauraT - Well remembered re: Alipalli.

Aberdeenhiker - Great news that you're out of your maternity clothes in just 10 days - Well done you!

Poppy - If you're suggesting the prize for most overdue is forbidden foods, that just makes me want to evict this LO even more!

I would love some brie.... I actually bought a dozen eggs last week (for just DH and I) because I was so looking forward to a soft bolied egg. (I know some people say it's fine if it's kite marked etc, but I'm a paranoid android) I think the eggs are going to be out of date before I go into labour!

Mmmm, cured meats! I am tempted to say sod it too now Mellymel - baby's got until Thursday (I'll be one week overdue then) and then it's a continental meat and cheese platter for me. Thank you. That's cheered me up!

PregnantPenguin · 17/06/2008 12:57

Mellymel - Just realised you were on my role call. But I bow to your greater patience, you were due 5 days before me!!!

needahand · 17/06/2008 13:00

Hi all

I am trying to catch up slowly.

DLM congratulations on the birth of your daughter!

Peartart don't know what DLM will say, but I would definitely recommend WB and HB. If I have any more DC, I would definitely try for another one

GF glad your BF pb are getting sorted, it is a bit tough sometimes. SJ seems to have the same problem sometimes, there is so much milk coming he gags on it and it comes through the nose. I am trying not to express to much though as otherwise it stimulates milk production and my breast sometimes feel rock hard.

Josey I am so amazed by your strength of character. I am sure Olivia sense the love and your strength and taps on it, she has made so many progresses already from what you say. She is absolutely beautiful (and really looks like the scan picture) and looney's story is so inspirational there is a lot to hope for. Still thinking of you and praying for little Olivia

needahand · 17/06/2008 13:10

Essie and rolf and sponge Congratulations

Rolf wow am completely impressed at your birth story. Saying it was a bit of a drama is an understatement. So glad both you and theodora are doing well!

Iam checking the thread page by page, so good luck Debs perhaps by the time I have finished going through the thread your baby will be here

needahand · 17/06/2008 13:13

Nope no baby for Debs yet then. good luck Debs

Re thread splitting, personally I would rather keep the same thread for a while for 2 reasons 1) it is easier for the graduate to check just the one thread 2) it is nicer for the non graduate, otherwise the last few might feel a little lonely on here. I know I wouldn't like to be last on a thread

I hope all the non graduate are well. Good luck as seems definitely seem to spice up on this thread with all the baby popping out.

Looney I hope you get a great HB too.

bitofadramaqueen · 17/06/2008 13:30

Afternoon all - I've lost count of the new babies since my last post!!!! Congratulations to you all, and looking forward to hearing from Deb.

Another one in my NCT group has popped, so I think I really will have to stalk them for a hold of their newborns

Ernest am at your doctor. I have to confess that the c word is my most favourite swear word when used appropriately in circumstances such as these. Hope whichever doc you go for is much much better.

Had a fairly productive morning - have realised that I'm much more productive if I do some of my tasks before I turn on the computer!

Must go get some lunch - will check back in later.

mellymell · 17/06/2008 13:54

PP - I'm bowing back, but am not being patient at all. Am now hitting the homeopathy in the hopes that something works.

Speak to you all in a few hours - am about to go for a snooze because woke up at 4am unable to sleep.

Rolf · 17/06/2008 14:09

Dylansmum - congratulations! Have you decided on a spelling? I like both pronunciations (helpful!).

Lazylou - congratulations also

Essie - glad you and your son are safe - sounds as though there were scary moments.

Needahand - I'll be telling everyone I know about hypnosis in labour! It's great isn't it?

Josey - I love Olivia's spiky hair. So sorry you have an infection. It must be so difficult to find the space to look after yourself. I hope Olivia's next round of tests brings good news.

Deb - hope you're hatching as I type!

Sorry if I've left anyone out...

I saw the mw today and it was lovely to see her. They did 2 more home deliveries that day . Apparently we are the talk of the hospital and the midwife has added to the story by telling everyone that DH and I are lawyers and FiL a consultant anaesthetist .

Thea is feeling really well and my milk seems to be coming in. Bit sore. The afterpains are the pits - they really take my breath away. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Poor DD1 is finding things difficult. She came into my bed last night and slept very badly and woke up at 5am in a foul mood (from lack of sleep) but also very clingy. I'm trying to give her as much love and attention as possible, but I hadn't really considered the logistics of it. For example, I was drinking less water during the night than I should have becuase I wasn't sure how I'd manage going to the loo without taking either Thea or DD1 with me. DH was in the boys' room so I'd have more space in the bed so I couldn't get him to keep an eye. I'm sure I'll find a system but if anyone has any advice it would be welcome.

Agree we should all stay on this thread and then graduate together.

Rolf · 17/06/2008 14:14

Spongebrain - congratulations on your lovely boy's arrival! We're the two fathers day births

Ernest sorry you're having a crap time with doctors. A horrible doctor is a breed apart...

thegreenfairy · 17/06/2008 14:23

Just a quickie. Storm seems to have settled down after the 36 hour spurt. Have had almost no sleep since Sunday night. Not good...

Well done to all the new mums. Some great birth stories - gosh we're cracking on now, aren't we!?

GOOD LUCK DEBS!!! You've certainly been patient - just checked out your due date! 10 days over and no moaning - hope you get the fantasy labour you deserve.

ernest re lochia - have you been getting lots of rest? Mine tailed off when I stayed in the house for a few days. As soon as I went for a walk it started again. I realise with 3 DSs 'rest' may be impossible and you may be LYAO at this suggestion!!!

Ok, time to feed the bambino.

ktpie · 17/06/2008 14:26

DQ - was wondering where you were today!
I am also far more productive before I switch on the computer, always make sure I shower and dress first, otherwise I would sit here in my pyjamas all day!

I've just got back from the midwife baby is 4/5 engaged so guess there is a while to go yet. She surprised me by arranging a sweep for me a week on friday. Will only be 5 days overdue then. Will have to see how I feel then if there is still no baby.

debinaustria · 17/06/2008 14:50

Hurrah ß there#s internet in the fathers room!! Typing inbetween contractions, currently about 4 mina apart. got room with water birth pool and they say I can use it . Been out for a walk to the river andback which got my contractions started. I have the only non english speaking mW but she#s lovely. Oh yes- had a lovely enema and have a canula in my hand- all new experiences for me. ok breathe with me..........ok easing off now- that was a long one.

see you all later

bitofadramaqueen · 17/06/2008 15:03

LOL deb at you typing from the hospital in between contractions. Good luck!

Hi ktpie - thanks for missing me. I've got my mw appt on Friday, I was 4/5 - 3/5 at my last appt (nearly two weeks ago) so hoping I've made some progress since then. My bump has definitely dropped down a little. When I spoke to her last time she said that they would normally do a sweep about 5 days overdue so that sounds about normal (if you decide you want one). How are you feeling generally? I've been having occasional crampy period pains for about a week, but hey are very few and far between. My back is really sore today, but that seems to happen when I'm on my feet too long and I was doing some ironing/kitchen cleaning this morning. I'm not even convinced I've had any BH yet!

right, I am going to go and write my birth plan finally!

sophiewd · 17/06/2008 15:05

Deb you amaze me, good luck.

Smelly runny cheese is what I want, There is s good deli near the hospital so shall be sending DH there ASAP. Slightly worrying is that DD has spots on face and rash on back so off to see Doctor later on, she has had chicken pox so hopefully nothing nasty, but a bit worrying as due froi section on Thursday.

bitofadramaqueen · 17/06/2008 15:15

Pate is top of my list. Mmmmmm.

Must write birth plan. Must write birth plan. Must write birth plan...

ktpie · 17/06/2008 15:23

DQ - my bump hasn't dropped at all. Aching back and some periody pains but they usually go off fairly quick, twinges in the pelvis area when I walk a lot (so not very often!). Been getting quite a few BH, the whole thing seems to go hard. At the moment not sure I want the sweep, have gone from thinking it will be any minute to settling in for the long term! May well have changed my mind by then.
I've kind of written my birth plan out in rough. Should write it up properly in my notes.

Main thing I want once baby is here is to be able to sleep on my tummy (guess I will get a rude awakening when I don't actually get any sleep any more). That and wine!

ktpie · 17/06/2008 15:46

Debs - you are showing a lot of dedication to this thread! Good luck!

bitofadramaqueen · 17/06/2008 16:08

Have done birth plan! It's pretty basic though. ktpie I haven't given much thought to sweep, I guess I keep hoping I'll have the baby before I have to think about it. Is upsidedowncake due the same day as us - am losing track of who's had their baby or not... I know spongebrain (hope you're getting on ok!) has defected to the graduates . I cant wait till my MW appointment on Friday to get a bit of an update on where I'm at. Although, she'll no doubt drive me round the bend again...
