Loadsa posts! I have been lurking less as I am turning into a green monster with everyone else going into labour or having babies....still not a thing happening here.

A RL friend recommended cinnamon to me for the ants and it seems to have worked!

Lovely to hear from you Para - I have a lovely image of your DP and Fleur having been tango'd now!

Good luck SpongeBBP! Good Luck Essie! Obviously I am horribly envious, but hoping that you have a really easy birth experience then as your EDD twin, I'll do the same?

Fungle - I keep getting really tired & grumpy now, then feel fine for a few hours again. Getting a bit bored of it all now tbh...

Emotionalwreck - Love the photo, that's def one to get framed, both your DD's are beautiful and have great names. Sorry that you had such a stressful experience, you did so well to last two days!!! I am in awe.

P'd off with DH. For the last fortnight I have asked him to get the carseat ready. He kept saying he'd already tested it & it would only take him mins....I just wanted it set up ready to go. Today he tried to do it and discovered that it actually needed a base! So annoyed as if I had gone into labour we wouldn't have been able to get LO home! He just kept saying "well, at least we know now and can fix it". I know he's right, but FFS I'm 2 days overdue and have been asking him to do this one thing for weeks... He's on his way back from Mothercare now, where very luckily, our carseat base was half price. How flukey is that?

Love & hugs to all the new Mums , fingers crossed & minimal pain wishes to all those experiencing labour symptoms and lots of patience for the rest of us !

katyjo · 14/06/2008 18:07

Congratulations to all the new arrivals!

Sorry to hear about feeding problems with Jamie , Mia had similar problems, but seemed to sort itself out and once my breasts reduced a bit the feeding is much easier. Thinking of you, bf bloody hard work.

alipalli · 14/06/2008 18:16

Hey!!!! DH has bought new bits of computer hardware and I am back with a broadband connection on the proper computer. Ipod touches are amazing bits of kit, but very fiddly when it comes to writing anything down.

PP - if it's any consolation about the car seat, we have just worked out how it fits in the car in the last hour - at 40+14!!! It looks fine, but I do have a vision of standing at the entrance to the hospital with a sniffy mw as we faff around with it.

Thanks everyone for your best wishes for tomorrow. As mentioned earlier I am in a very strange mood at the moment. I feel a bit depressed, but really I think it is that I am just worrying about being induced; giving birth; having to stay in hospital and being a Mum (so not unreasonable I suppose). The net effect is that its taking a great deal of effort to be nice to DH who is being a star, and I can't face ringing either set of parents this evening, as it will only set off more fussing and labour advice that is 30 years out of date. My MIL drove me crackers last night in the space of 6 minutes she said:
a) is the baby's heartbeat okay
b) that I would be induced with an enema
c) that induction is very quick (she was induced at 11am and DH was born at 2.15pm)
d) that I would be able to get lots of sleep in the hospital because they put the babies in a nursery overnight.
Arghh.
The bad thing is that I know all of this comes from a good place in her heart and that she is just and excited and nervous first time grandparent who has been waiting over a fortnight for LO to arrive. However her comments aren't helping me at the moment!

We are planning to go out for some food in a bit as a kind of last supper, maybe this will distract me?!

Essie3 · 14/06/2008 18:20

Hi Penguin - positive vibes going your way! Also gratefully accepting vibes for an easy labour!
And your DH sounds just like mine - 'everything under control'. A bit like that BT advert.

Well, after getting totally excited with contractions and a show...nothing today apart from noxious diarrhoea (TMI - sorry, but I was truly amazed that I could produce such matter) nausea and vomiting, and general tiredness. Sometimes bad temper. Often tears. I feel like I've let everyone down with my false attempt at labour. Also totally terrified of giving birth, and want it over with.

Silly me!

PregnantPenguin · 14/06/2008 18:33

Sophie - You are so organised! Well done.

Welcome back Alli - Tell the PIL that the new broadband means the phone's not working.

Oh Essie, you poor thing! You've snapped me out of my self obsessed sulk. It must be horrible to get all worked up and ready to go and then ....nothing. At least it may mean a shorter labour when it all starts up again (or perhaps you're still dilating just without the pain). Fingers crossed.

Amberc · 14/06/2008 18:40

What a night! Had the most excruitiating labour pains and was actually shaking non stop - tens machine did help. Midwife told me to take paracetamol - didn't touch the sides - then of course we had no hot water for a hot bath!! 11 hours of that - the midwife came round and told me to call her when things got to 1 in four minutes and gave me a great tablet like pethadine and told me the shaking was hormones. Then exactly like Essie at 5am it all stopped. I had to go in to the hospital anyway for a 9.30am appointment for my latest trace. They said I had gone into 'latent' phase and it would probably all start again soon. Still I apparently have a bulging membrane and if I make it to Tuesday's induction they just need to break my waters and I don't need hormones. I am truly shattered as I am still having pains and massive pressure down below so have not really slept. At keast I know the level of pain to expect (AGAIN!!) i.e. utterly incomprehensible.

Congrats to all those who have had theirs. It would be nice to have mone tomorrow on Fathers day!

P.S I have a pigeon nest with eggs on my balcony so if anyone says they have never seen a baby pigeon I will soon be able to tell them what one looks like!

Rolf · 14/06/2008 18:44

Oh Essie how annoying for you. I feel as though I've let everyone down as well. There's a real chance I'll miss DS1's First Communion as I'll be staying in hospital for 48 hours after delivery. He'll be so disappointed and so will I .

Good luck tomorrow Ali. Hope it all goes well.

Beautiful list Sophie . DH is apparently bringing home form work 4 boxes of papers (ie shite) for me to sort through as he thinks it will help me take my mind off things .

Amberc · 14/06/2008 18:46

PS Please can I have some virtual sympathy hugs x

alipalli · 14/06/2008 18:48

Amber that sounds completely grim, poor you. I was sure you must be well on your way to holding your baby by now. At least it sounds as though you are primed and ready to go at any time, I am sure things will start again soon. Good luck.

Wigeon · 14/06/2008 18:51

Just thought I should post so Sophiewd doesn't spring clean me from the list!! Have been lurking avidly - congratulations to all the new mums - the photos are adorable to a baby.

Also very good luck to everyone yet to pop for whom things seem to be happening - Amberc, sounds exhausting but hope your LO turns up v soon.

On a much lighter note - can I win a prize for most trivial pregnancy symptom - above the top finger joint on my middle left finger and same on my left thumb it's all tingly and almost numb - has been constantly for days and days. Can anyone beat this for Most Minor Symptom?!

debinaustria · 14/06/2008 18:54

Rolf - how strange about your in-laws when they've been so good until now. Families eh?

EW - Congratulations on the birth of your gorgeous daughter Sophie, but 52 hours

DLM - good luck , looking forward to hearing the happy news

Essie - you haven't let anyone down, when the baby decides to come is out of your hands, you cannot control it unfortunately.

Ohh Amber - how disappointing for you, bulging membrane sounds great though!!

bitofadramaqueen · 14/06/2008 20:39

My computer being a PITA so will just say a quick congrats to emotionalwreck and basilbrush - I take it you saw basilbrush on another thread sophie ? Was thinking the other day hadn't seen her on this one in ages! Am sure she used to be a bit of a regular on here.

PearTart · 14/06/2008 20:52

EW- you definately get a medal for that labour! and earn the right to say "What I went through to bring you into the world young lady...!" at appropriate moments in the future.
Sophie is gorgeous and glad her big sis approves.

DLM- have a great birth!

Amber- you're so close now- don't lose heart, just rest before the final push. Thinking of you.

Sybil- "milk-day" can be a bit of a grim day with hormone surges and sore boobs- but it does get better, hang in there.

Alipalli- I have to laugh at your MIL's outdated "advice". Poor you having to listen to it. A last night of freedom dinner is a great idea. We'd be doing that if I could walk easily.

sophiewd · 14/06/2008 21:07

Tell you what I will swap everything for the rat that has just stared at us through our kitchen window while we have been haveing supper.

And one more morning of breakfasts to go

Essie3 · 14/06/2008 21:11

Amber, Penguin, Rolf - and in fact everyone, thank you all. And thank god for mumsnet eh? Keeping me sane.

Amber - well, I know all about it now. Maybe father's day?

I'm hoping Penguin's right and I'm dilating like mad but with no pain. Hey, Penguin - maybe you are too and just don't know it .

Having a bath and going to bed now!

Essie3 · 14/06/2008 21:13

Oh, Amber, massive group hug because I desperately need one too!!

dylansmumplusone · 14/06/2008 21:24

Am at your dh rolf

poppy34 · 14/06/2008 21:43

frist timer panic - please help while I'm about it can any of the non first timers/hatchers tell me what I will realistically need for the lo as a newborn - I don't want to overdo it but at present I've got 2 pairs of bootees, gloves and 2 hats plus a set of 5 I think long sleeved sleep suit thigns and similar of short sleeved/no leg vest things.

Whilst I don't want to go mad please is there anything else I need and given I can wash stuff how many outfit changes do I need for lo each day?

Amberc · 14/06/2008 21:59

Thanks for the hugs. Just watched Casualty where a girl called Amber came in and had a baby in 7 minutes flat - hope it's a sign! Very weirdly she then head butted a nurse who got a nosebleed and so did I!

Still got my pains - big ow just now.AM going to lie down now just in case I don't get much sleep tonight again.

debinaustria · 14/06/2008 22:42

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Dylansmum on the birth of your little girl - you must be so thrilled.

josey · 14/06/2008 23:03

Hi
Im not even going to attempt to catch up...I have come home which was really really hard but I need to be there for my other dcs.

The MRI results was the most horrific news that we could have received....She was hit in the cental brain and from the results expect her to have no use of limbs unable to feed and have severe learning difficulties...I told her consultant that no she will fight like hell and will be supported no matter what....2 days later he came to tell us she has shocked all the staff. She started to recover her gag reflex and she is making movements in all her limbs and tonight she held our hands and she cried for the 1st time. She still has seizure movements and is getting meds for it they just need to sort all that out.

We are in a rough road and we really dont know what we will face in the future, next week we hope to get to try and feed her without the tube....Im still expressing which is quite hard going but I feel I cant give up on her as really want to be able to breastfeed her one day...she has 90mls a feed now so I feel a bit like a cow on the pump.

Im so proud of how hard my daughter has fought to stay alive and proove everyone wrong I have taken amazing courage and strengh from her....all our friends and family have so much faith in us which is amzing....Its all shocking and really hard but this may sound stupid but Im no sad in away if that makes sense....I just dont see the point.

Thank you all for the support it means the world to me.
