Mummywannabe · 17/06/2008 12:43

Minkus - have also read they can be about 20% out too. Hope your ok and not too fed up. It must be frustrating to think your on your way then not.

pigleychez · 17/06/2008 13:35

Heffagooday · 17/06/2008 13:41

I was wondering that Pigley

I've finally ordered my TENS. Looking forward to it arriving so I can get to grips with it.

Trespass · 17/06/2008 13:42

Wow, still can't get over how busy this thread is, takes me ages to catch up lol!

Isaidno thinking of you and hope you don't have to wait too long. also, I like you am suffering with carpel tunnel, worse in the morn with worst pain in thumbs, helps to shake them out but yeuk at the feeling of robot clicky fingers! (to prev question, yes 1st baby).

Disneystar poor you, I'm sure it'll all work out for the best.
Kaz, a bit late but thanx for the bf advice, some good info there. hope everything goes ok for you too now that you have a good listener on your side!

Mcchesers was it you who freaked slightly at ward tour? I was the same, made me realise this was all so real and there was no turning back! I was so brave before the tour, but now think I'll be a proper fanjo (lol lol had to get that word in, it cracks me up everytime I read it!) and beg for an epidural-the only pain relief offered here in france goddamit!!!

Pigley happy anniversary for yest, glad you had a lovely day.

T-juice I was holding off buying a breast pump but liked the price of the medela mini, but is it noisy? seem to remember reading 1 of them is. also well done for perservering with bf, I hope I'm as brave as you!

Minkus thinking of you too.

read so much can't remember everything but hope every1's ok!!

can someone please remind me how many cups of rlt I should be drinking, only having 1 a day cos keep forgeting!

well hope you're all enjoying the lovely sunshine, wish I had more energy, would love to go for a walk but know I'd only get a few yards and have to stop for a rest!!

Trespass · 17/06/2008 13:48

hi Heffagooday I think that midwife def has to know she's out of order talking like that, how insensitive of her. she'll have shown herself up tho and I bet the other mums to be felt for you. maybe a wee word in your mw's ear. anyway, don't allow her to upset you, she prob has no life outside of work and is just jealous of you lol!!

Minkus · 17/06/2008 14:10

Aw thanks for the thoughts Trespass

I found the mini medela breast pump v noisy but just turned the tv up over it! And a leetle bit of a pain to sterilise as I couldn't put it in my steam steriliser according to the instructions, so used to have to boil it. On the plus side though it was incredibly efficient and comfortable (even though it looks like it wouldn't be) and this outweighed the minor inconveniences for me. In fact that's a good reminder I'm off upstairs to dig it out and make sure all the parts are there after ds found it and decided to chuck it about

JODIEhavingababy · 17/06/2008 14:10

Hi all,

Isaidno thinking about you today. Hope it all goes well.

disney how on earth are you doing this? Minkus, this bodes well for you!

heffa Am so at the MW... She should have ALOT more tact than that!!! Where all our classes were (and my Yoga) is at the Midwife centre, but hey do include ALL mums, she doesn't know any ones history or story... I'd definatly say something, even if only to your Community MW.

Can't remember who said it now, but I was up all last night with acid reflux too, I thought I'd got over it as it had all but disappeared, but it's back worse than ever!!! It's soo bloody painful.

Twinkle thinking of you and your babies

Peanut also thinking of you, hope you are all OK???

Minipink Hope the first few days are going well....

JODIEhavingababy · 17/06/2008 14:13

Oh yeah Trespass another vote here for the mini medela breast pump. It is noisy, but fab. I've got the Avent Steam steriliser and it does fit in there, although not with all the bottles in too, I put it in the cold water steriliser.

JODIEhavingababy · 17/06/2008 14:34

AHHHH I'm so f**d off....

Just called the MA office AGAIN to chase my money and it's going to take ANOTHER 6 weeks..... It was supposed to start on the 9h May....... I have had to keep sending in things and then it takes 2-3 weeks to process that information.... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

kentDee · 17/06/2008 14:39

Sorry how rude of me - welcome kentdee! The more the merrier

CilC - no I am in Farnham so in fact nearer Guildford (hmm steep hill in that wheelchair but hope you have nice day). However grew up late teenage years near Sutton if you know that area.

gillythekid · 17/06/2008 15:27

Jodie dealing with authorities is a nightmare, they're SO incompetent!
Heffa do say something about that MW, sounds like she could do with a bit of constructive criticism.
Isaidno thinking of you and the 3 new mums.
Hobbled to yoga this morning then drove out to the dreaded Lakeside and parked right outside Debenhams to take advantage of their sale, got 2 Freya nursing bras, 60% off! Don't think they'll be driving DH wild with passion like the Hotmilk ones but they're comfy and sturdy with extra thick straps, and when you're a G cup pre-pregnancy, it's all function over fashion I'm afraid.
Hope everyone is having a good day and health issues of mums to be and families are being dealt with.

Trespass · 17/06/2008 15:54

Thanks to all, think I will go for the medela.

Jodie that sucks about your maternity pay. If it makes you feel any better, we only moved here 10mths ago and have had to fork out a fortune in hospital bills, every visit costs between 30-120euros depending on what I've had done, and they see you a lot more over here! Getting my social security sorted out here has been 1 very long nightmare and still isn't going through. The language barrier doesn't help, but it's mostly due to the fact that my DP is self employed. Anyway, even if it is all paid back to us, that's all I'll get here, hosp bills paid for, and I'll miss out on my childs tax payment thingy, picked a great time to move abroad didn't I!! And I don't get free dentistry!! Anyway, hope it all sorts itself out, the DSS are blo*dy useless, try not to get too stressed over it all, I'm almost certain it'll all be backdated lol only joking with envious face. no I'm not. lol x

Mummywannabe · 17/06/2008 15:58

Jodie - one of the girls that worked at the nursery i managed had huge problems with her MA - didn't get it till little one was 6 months ! (she wasn't entitled to SMP as was pregnant when she started working for us)I hope you get it sorted easier than her. Can you call them (in my experience calling every day at the same time wears them down in the end)

Heffagooday · 17/06/2008 16:01

Welcome Kentdee

Jodie - sorry to hear about your problems with the authorities. Nightmare!

Thanks for all the support with the MW thing. Am going to mention it next time I'm up at the unit. DH wasn't too impressed either.

Hope all the new mums are doing well, and Isaidno! Have we heard from Peanut lately?

BrownOwl18 · 17/06/2008 16:07

Hi all

Not been around for ages so struggling to keep up. A wedding and 3 babies - belated congratulations!!

I have finished work but so far haven't done anything I had planned. At least my hospital bag is nearly packed though - which probably means I'll still be hanging around here in August.

Sorry to hear about those of you who are having a bad time. I'm finding these last few weeks more of a struggle than I did with previous pregnancies but the end is in sight .

sweetkitty · 17/06/2008 16:21

Oh I could just lie down and sleep for a week. Had a nice day with DDs we have played Little People, painted toenails and done make up (don't tell Daddy) and made some little cupcakes (had to hoover kitchen floor full of 100s and 1000s) am shattered now though.

Roll on Daddy coming in.

Fingers crossed things are happening for isaidno

OP posts:
Libra1975 · 17/06/2008 16:27

I know this is madness but one of the things I am REALLY looking forward to one day is making cakes with the children. Odd because I don't make cakes now and I'm sure they make more mess than you would have thought possible.

*sends positive vibes to isaidno.

JODIEhavingababy · 17/06/2008 16:29

Hello and welcome Kentdee hope everything is running smoothly for you?

They have recieved my forms, that's logged, but basically, the MA office are being nice about it, trying to rush it through, and by sending off different things it means I get more p/w, so thats nice, but everytime I call to find out if it's all running smoothly then they need to see something else! The latest drama is they woluld like me to backdate my Class 2 National Insurance Contributions, so instead if getting £63.00 p/w I am then entitled to £117 p/w, which is fine by me.... So it's the damn Revenue and Customs that ae holding things up now.. They can't 'rush things through' as I have a DH, if I was a single mum on benefits, then they could probably do something about it.... Oh it makes me mad! (no offence to you single mum's it's just the way the system works that gets me!) Oh yes they will back date it..... (I hope)

pigleychez · 17/06/2008 16:30

Just had a visit from a friend and her 1yr old.
Was great to catch up. Made me realise though what id have to change to childproof my house for a crawler.

Heffa- Sorry to hear about the midwife...

Jodie- How frustrating... Hope you can get some sense out of someone soon!

Kentdee- Welcome to the gang!
Where abouts in Kent are you? I was bought up in Kent and my parents still live there.

Brownowl- Nice to have you back

Libra1975- I know what you mean about making cakes with LO. Think it will be sweet to make cakes for daddy to take to work with him

Libra1975 · 17/06/2008 16:32

Jodie - sorry for all these questions but how did you know it was logged?

JODIEhavingababy · 17/06/2008 16:38

Thats OK LIbra. THe MA offices definatly have them as we've gone over my forms on the telephone, When I spoke to the IR & C this afternoon, the guy said that they have them on file, but it takes 6-8 weeks to 'process' whatever that means.

Libra1975 · 17/06/2008 16:52

ok thanks, I sent it to the Southampton offices as told and was just wondering how long it takes to recieve confirmation they even have them nevermind start processing them!
