LOL re birth ball. I was thinking about buying one then realised DS has a 99www.toyday.co.uk/shop/images/uploads/spacehopper.jpg Space Hopper!]] So I sat on it today at my computer and very comfy it was too. So long as you get the horns in the right place...

oopsacoconut · 03/06/2008 21:25

TS - my grandad was Sidney - so have trouble imagining a little girl called Sydney.

VintageGardenia · 03/06/2008 21:25

Sorry lousy link

here is space hopper

readyforbed · 03/06/2008 21:35

Still browsing ebay for something to wear (sold all my old stuff about 2 years ago absolutely certain I wasn't going to have any more -ho hum)

Would anyone actually be (capable of) wearing these?

Not suprised there are no bids!!!

HazieDazieandBaby · 03/06/2008 21:35

Hi TS, was just about to log off when I saw your post about the name Sydney/Sidney. I totally love the name and DH and I considered it during a 'girl name' conversation, but I wasn't sure if we'd get away with it. We were obsessed with Alias (it stars Jennifer Garner as the character Sydney Bristow, think it was on abc) for a while and that was our main reasoning for considering it!

VintageGardenia · 03/06/2008 21:36

Sydney - mother of the Mitfords. Elegant and unusual.

arf arf rfb I'd look sooooo amazing in those .

TwilightSurfer · 03/06/2008 21:47

Sidney/Sydney may just be a brief fancy. Just thought I'd see the response here before trying out on DH. WHO STILL hasn't offered any naming help!! I do kind of like...forgot about Alias, thanks Hazie.

VG...horns? My ball doesn't have any but sounds like a fun accessory. Where exactly do you sit on a horny ball????

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 03/06/2008 21:49

Oh Wait I just got the horny ball link. So where did you sit??

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 03/06/2008 21:50
Grin

VintageGardenia · 03/06/2008 21:51

You sit wherever you feel most... comfortable, TS.

VintageGardenia · 03/06/2008 21:52

Ewww do you know what I've just realised this is DS's toy we are talking about! Now I'm all for smutty talk but I now feel I have overdisclosed .

TwilightSurfer · 03/06/2008 21:53

LOL OK VG

Thanks that's the first good laugh I've had all day.

VintageGardenia · 03/06/2008 21:58

Yay TS!

Listen I'm off to bed with my book.

Sleep tight ladies, tomorrow we are all one day closer.

Buckets · 03/06/2008 21:58

I don't know, Sydney's a bit Melrose Place for me, kinda spoilt princessy. Still love Maggie (then you can make a cake that says Maggaggie like in the Simpsons).

I feel sick again. Was a tiny bit sick at toddler group this am but kept lunch down so thought I could manage a fairly large portion of cottage pie for tea. Am now a bit queasy and just can't stop farting! No peppermint anything in the house . May suggest DH sleeps in the baby's room (there is an actual bed in there, no cot yet.)
Had a lovely nap in bed with DS this afternoon though, woke up to find my dad replacing the landing light fitting! He'd thought we were out so let himself in and got a fright when he found us LOL.

TwilightSurfer · 03/06/2008 22:11

Buckets, I think the Melrose Place thing is why it wasn't originally on my list. Feel free to come hang out with me. I feel like all I do is step and fart, roll and fart, sit and fart. This baby is just pressing all the right "cords" in my belly to play any tune of her liking.

dizzydixies · 03/06/2008 22:49

evening all

dd1 off nursery again today still spotty and snotty but no additional spots on top of what she had

dd2 - spots over her nose but no more anywhere else today - will check her again in the morning

pished down with us all day but kids were happy enough indoors thank god

dh does have man flu though bless him

very uninteresting day in dixie household am afraid, have spent most of it reading Stand and Deliver by Emma Mahony - anyone read it?
lulumama recommended it to me as the more I think about it the more I would like to actually have this baby myself so am reading up so I can make an informed decision rather than my usual head in the sand technique

anyway, hope you're all well and I'll try and have something interesting to say tomorrow

longwayfromhome · 03/06/2008 23:10

Hello all. Finally got back to sleep last night. Can recommend BBC world on cable as a soporific (in the UK I used to listen to radio 5 up all night which was full of people calling in to announce traffic jams on the M72 at 3am or the occasional by-election result - kind of 2 minute thought bites and perfect to drop off to - radio 4, which is much more intelligent is rubbish to try to go to sleep to as you have to think about what they are saying, although quite good for breakfast).

I agree with longing for a nice drink in the evening sun but in fact what I am really looking forward to is being able to drink as much coffee as I want after the baby is born (it's not one of those forbidden in breast feeding things is it? I hope not).

Book recommendations from me include Ian Rankin (detective in Edinburgh) Andrew Greig - the return of John McNab, Catherine Fox - she has written three novels about vicars and (confessing here to reading chick-lit!) Jennifer Weiner - little earthquakes, which is about women having their first babies.

pregnancy1 · 04/06/2008 08:17

Morning,

Hope you are all well. We had our first class yesterday - relaxation and preparation. I was very impressed with everything bar the part where the physio said that we are the only ones responsible for the length of our labour (and any tears/rips). This would have been fine and v empowering if DH hadn't decided to parrot this all the way home. The labour isn't my fault - it's your own etc [hmmm]. Then everytime, I got vaguely upset about anything (trying to get a decent mortgage rate as ours is up soon) - he just starts doing the breathing exercises "to help me relax" grrrrr .
She also said that night cramps in your legs were a result of lying on your back. True to form, I woke up in the middle of the night and as I leapt out of bed howling, I did notice that I had rolled over onto my back!
We also popped to my parents to borrow one of their 'old-people' armchairs as we only have sofas which stop me sitting in the "correct" position!
Very informative
Other than that, am still happy - having a fabulously girlie week. Off to a flower arranging class after work tonight and then to see S&TC tomorrow night.

cyteen · 04/06/2008 08:57

Morning all,

Sounds like everyone is doing okay. Things are all good here - had a fabulous night's sleep last night, which always makes life so much better. The cats were really well behaved for once and just lay next to me all night purring Plus I woke up this morning with no bump pain or strain for the first time in a while - it's all been feeling rather heavy, but today I could almost forget I'm pregnant.

I have got a very painful pile though

The midwife is going to ring me this morning, so I'm hoping she can fit me in for a check-up. Otherwise it's just a study day at Cyteen Towers, then off to the women-only session of our NCT classes where I also intend to inflate my newly purchased birth ball (no horns though, sorry VG). It will be good to finally sit comfortably on something instead of perching on the edge of the broken sofa!

cyteen · 04/06/2008 08:58

Hmmm, the baby seems to be enjoying kicking me in the cervix this morning Cheers little one!

dizzydixies · 04/06/2008 10:50

morning from a still spotty household, both kids off again, dh's man flu still going and he managed to keep me awake most of night with snoring like a bog eel I am of course up whilst he has had to go back to bed [grrrrrr]

at least its stopped raining and whilst snotty and spotty they're both in a good mood so far AND slept through so fingers crossed we're on the mend

pregnancy1 very jealous of your girly week although am hoping to get to cinema on friday but with dh so it'll no doubt be indiana jones not S&tc!

cyteen lots and lots of water and feet up when you need to poop should help if that doesn't budge it let me know - am expert

Expectant · 04/06/2008 11:02

Hello All,

Haven't posted for a while as have been on a course all week - I have an exam on Friday morning - yikes! A bit worried as preggy brain seems to stop anything from going in properly.

MIL and her BF are arriving from the UK tomorrow. Next scan on Friday afternoon (after the exam) so should be a stress free day [sceptical] Still we're off to Bintan (Indonesian Island about 45mins away on a ferry) on Saturday for the weekend so looking forward to relaxing a bit then.

Sorry to hear about those who are not well and hope you feel better soon.

Expectant · 04/06/2008 11:03

See how well I'm doing today. Should be revising and can't even get the right smiley!

cyteen · 04/06/2008 11:17

Good luck in your exam Expectant - what's the subject?

Cheers dizzy, I will of course keep you informed of the pile's progress Things were going so well too

Just spoke to new mw, she sounds very nice and chatty. Not seeing her till next week though, ho hum, but never mind - haven't had any more strange pains (I guess it must have just been indigestion) and baby has made himself known throughout the day, so am assuming all is well

dizzydixies · 04/06/2008 11:22

oohh expectant good luck with exam and very over indonseian island!

cyteen glad your mw sounds nice
