Ooh Ilana, how exciting! 48 days! Hey ladies, we must all be in double figures now aren't we? Around 63 for me (TBC at mid-Jul conslt appt.)
How is your move going with all your aches and pains?

VintageGardenia · 03/06/2008 09:16

Loving all the book recommendations! miamla I've read Wild Swans, Perfume, Anna K, The Tin Drum, but have never read Shadow of the Wind! So I might go in search of that. I've had a real appetite for memoir lately, haven't read much fiction the last few months but can't get enough true stuff. So in the last couple of weeks I've read In My Father's House (Miranda Seymour) and The Bolter (Frances Osborne) which I got 3 for 2 with I Capture the Castle. Also Martin Amis's memoir Experience (dense but rewarding), also Daphne by Justine Picardie - mix of fact and fiction re. Daphne du Maurier. It's hard to recommend to others when you don't know their taste, my mother and I have similar tastes in a lot of books so we swap over, but then I read stuff that the rest of my family think bonkers or dreary.

I'm sorry everyone is having pelvic pain. I never feel comfortable in advising in these cases in case I say gaily "Oh just stretch it out a bit", and then later someone posts to say "The doctor said I was to lie absolutely still as it's quite serious and on no account should I risk further damage by stretching." I do think if something persists and you really don't feel comfortable with it (and I think we should all be familiar enough with our bodies at this stage to know when something is right or wrong) then get on the blower to the midwife or the GP.

CC sorry to hear you are so ill! What a nightmare, weren't you sick before & had to get antibiotics? Or am I confusing you with someone else? I am ASSUMING and hope I am right in doing so, that you have taken time off work now? And will have a bit of rest and recuperation, and that your lovely little DS will be at his most angelic for you, enabling you to stay in bed. VG's orders.

dd how is your little girl today?

oops classes sound good! We have a full day session next Sat, that's it for us, just the one day.

pf that looks really comfy actually! Might investigate. I found Mothercare rubbish for pregnancy stuff, I must say, they have all the gear for after birth, pretty dresses for babies and what-have-you, but for stuff like the belly band they were useless. Thank goodness for the internet or I wouldn't have a clue what was going on or what was available or anything.

Ah tis a terrible backwater, this bog of ours.

readyforbed · 03/06/2008 09:34

Pregnancy brain - why?
Yesterday I

  1. Got DS2 ready for nursery (and everybody up)even though it was an inset day. It was only because of DH that the poor kid wasn't driven to a closed nursery.
  2. Found I had put DS1's PE kit in my drawer
  3. Found I had put DS2's clothes in DS1's drawer
  4. Made myself some lunch, only to lose it and spend 20 mins looking for where I had put it (in the utility room).
  5. Put the car keys in the fridge

I can understand why various other parts of your body needs to divert energy to baby development - but brain cells? Surely they stay ours?!

cyteen · 03/06/2008 09:41

Oh dear We've all got it. At our first session of NCT classes I had a bit of word-finding difficulty and managed to describe myself to a roomful of strangers as a toyboy instead of a tomboy The shame!

readyforbed · 03/06/2008 09:43

On the books front (also loving Shadow of the Wind and Wild Swans, have been looking for some recommendations so very pleased to have some suggestions) - I read a couple of Joanne Harris books recently - not Chocolat etc but Coastliners and Gentlemen & Players, both easy reading but I found them unputdownable. Good think I read them while at my mums for the weekend or the poor kids would have felt completely neglected.

readyforbed · 03/06/2008 09:55

Cyteen - that's brillant! I also have a problem on the work front that I keep forgetting things (that people told me 5 mins before), when I write them down, I forget where I have put the note. I hope my brain comes back after baby is born or there are going to be some serious problems...

cyteen · 03/06/2008 09:56

I lost my last To Do list and it was still in the pad of paper as well! The entire pad disappeared.

PetitFilou1 · 03/06/2008 10:04

Hello
Supposed to be working but I am really tired..... (not ill like cc at least)

Book suggestions I just thought of for those who haven't read them - The KiteRunner and A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khalid Hosseini (couldn't put that one down at all so at least that meant I did actually end up reading it!)

cyteen · 03/06/2008 10:04

THought I'd put up an updated bump photo - here

And because I'm feeling outgoing today, here's a picture of me that shows my face so you can all see I'm not just a torso!

readyforbed · 03/06/2008 10:11

Nice bump! (and face ). DH delightfully said to me this am "I am looking forward to you getting your non-pregnancy body back". He is such a charmer . I do feel the same way though, can't believe there are still 12 weeks to go.

PetitFilou1 · 03/06/2008 10:12

Cyteen you look just how I imagined (ps your bump is much smaller than mine... then again this is number 3 so not jealous at all honest!) However I am jealous about how young you look. After two children I look my age!

cyteen · 03/06/2008 10:19

rfb my DP seems really into my new shape, at times there have been Benny Hill style chase scenes round the house! I quite like it too, but must confess I'm getting a bit fed up of straining to tie my shoelaces and grunting every time I do anything bend down to pick things up.

pf that picture was taken in a darkened club, so not really representative of the day to day me...I'm currently sitting at the dining room table in my pyjamas with bird's-nest hair

readyforbed · 03/06/2008 10:25

I have such a vision now, it is making me laugh... DH was quite into it a couple of weeks ago, but I think his comments were coming from finding comfortable positions more of a problem now - any suggestions?! .

pf - me too with DC3, my MIL keeps telling me how big I am (might have to do the photo thing soon so that I can get some independent opinions). I don't think I am that big but what does she expect with DC3? It is particularly nice when she compares me with SIL when she was on DC1!

VintageGardenia · 03/06/2008 10:27

cyteen you're gorgeous! You don't look a bit like a toyboy.

I haven't taken / got DP to take any photos of my bump. Am I weird?

I have never read any Joanne Harris but DS and I might take advantage of sunny day and cycle up to the library today.

LOL at Benny Hill. My DP has taken to smutty comments too, but as I get a stitch at the moment when I'm sitting still I think chasing round the table off the cards!

VintageGardenia · 03/06/2008 10:30

Strange question my skin seems to be flaking on my arms, chest, legs. What's all that about? I exfoliate all the time with scrubby things, in the normal course of events, and I've used so many buckets of BioOil I feel like the Remington guy who liked it so much he bought the company.

Am I turning into a reptile & sloughing off my outer skin for summer??

PetitFilou1 · 03/06/2008 10:31

rfb Don't worry about it, everyone has been asking when I'm due for weeks! Mother in laws - they are charming are they not. I have already bought a book on how to get rid of your 'mummy tummy' (which I could just about manage to buy given the awful title)

Cyteen lol at Benny Hill. Dh is still keen but only when I take the initiative - this is the furthest into pregnancy we've got with continuing sex so far! Maybe it won't then take 6 months to resume afterwards (yes really)

PetitFilou1 · 03/06/2008 10:36

VG I think that is just the process of new skin/hair/nails that speeds up during pregnancy. Sanctuary shower oil is good and their exfoliating stuff as moisturising rather than just using a scrubby thing. My hair is growing at a rate of knots and keeps blocking up the shower (grim)

Pf now makes self go back to work (temporarily) Has been raining here since 5am GRRR

Ps get photo of your bump VG - it is nice to look back at (weirdly)

VintageGardenia · 03/06/2008 10:48

You're prob right pf, same as with breastfeeding, have no photos of last time as screamed every time camera came out, but would be nice to look back on.

TS there's a thread on breech if you are still concerned about that, you might find it useful. Apparently loads of babies are breech at different stages during preg but it only starts to matter at 35ish weeks because they change position many many times up until then, so aren't classed as breech until they are in their "final" position. So I suppose this means that even if your baby turned now, she might turn back again tomorrow!

DS was never breech, so I have no experience of it, that's only going what I've read in the books and on here. Hope you are feeling more comfortable today, at any rate.

PetitFilou1 · 03/06/2008 11:07

Oh VG forgot you have ds already - don't think you need multiple bump photos! I just have some from first time round.

TS tryspinningbabies.com as recommended by lulumama on another thread

TwilightSurfer · 03/06/2008 12:14

Buckets! See pregnancy brain at work. I knew I'd get it wrong but glad you were reading and could correct me. And glad you got to read the article.

VG thanks for the link. The thread I started yesterday in the pregnancy section has given me loads of promise. I know medically they say it's not really an issue until 36 weeks BUT I gave birth early last time, I'm very uncomfortable "now" and I just like being prepared.

Petitfilou...will look over your link in a few minutes.

Cyteen LOVE the pics.

lol at being chased by dhs. I think mine is feeling a bit deprived (nada since bfp - mainly cos after my 2 bleeds we agreed that it would stress me and worry me) - but a chase would be very funny esp as I have got uber clmusy lately........

I've got no bump pics this time round. Did with dd, but it was before we had a digital camera, so once they were all developed I was never quite sure which order they came in . that's me and my poor organisation all over.

Just had homegroup at nmy house. we normally meet in church but there was a funeral in there today, so perhaps not a good idea!!

ooh ooh - bought nappies this morn. Just bought one pack of size 2s. I figured there is no way I'll have a baby under 6lb (size 1 was 4-11 lb, size 2 is 6-13lb (or is it 14?)) so thought size 2 would be ok.

need loo, then will grab lunch and come back here with it. Need to hoover before i pick dd up but that can wait til eating and MNing are done

Hello ladies, I am still feeling like a sack of shite but perhaps a little less shitey than yesterday? Must be a combination of your good wishes and the prayers from the prayer thread ladies!

Been to ante-natal class this morning, and decided not to go back for the 'early parenting' and 'feeding' classes this afternoon. I was more interested in the labour and pain relief classes tbh but was so tired I just ended up wishing I'd stayed in bed.

Laughing (but not too vigorously in case it makes me cough!) at cyteen and Benny Hill antics. Dh has also decided that he is now very into the pg shape whereas with ds1 he very much wasn't. I'm not complaining!

Mw who led the classes today suggested speaking to the cons when I see him next week for scan, to see if there is any physical reason why ds2 may also be breech.

I'm off to lie on the sofa and fall asleep.....

ALBS, do you think you might give it a go when you get to 37wks? Just for comedy purposes you understand.
