DD now approching 2.4. Had lots of small wees on the potty this afternoon after she realised that she got a sticker for each one. Proves she knows what she's doing. Now just need to get her to direct it correctly..so to speak. May well not work and she'll probably regress when DD2 arrives, but thought it was worth a shot now, not least because 2 lots of nappies + fortnightly bin collection doesn't go.

Was your DD1 trained before DD2 arrived? How was she when DD2 arrived?

TwilightSurfer · 11/06/2008 22:26

Can't believe I haven't shared that one with you sooner. By the way you are an expert on 5 times as much as me. Can't say I'm an expert on anything really. Oh well.

Casserole is done...duty calls.

Night ladies!!!

i was in the supermarket last night and heard a mum calling her son "teddy". i asked her if his full name was Theodore because i was growing one at the moment and Teddy piped up "I'm not a chipmunk!"

turns out theodore is in a cartoon and according to Teddy he's fat but he's ok despite being fat!

oh and turns out Teddy was an Edward!

dizzydixies · 11/06/2008 22:30

night VG welcome anytime but next time could you not dribble on the only silk cushion in my collection please?!?!

poppy dd1 was a little older and after a few tries at it basically decided one day that was that for the nappies - I think at about 2.9

she still wears nightpants as she sleeps SO soundly and I won't get into lifting her, am in no hurry with that, a full night sleep is more important to me

does dd1 have a favourite character? we bought dd1 Dora pants and she was soooo chuffed she didn't want to wet them as didn't want them ruined iyswim? also a Dora book about potty training which we read a lot

pee pad for the car seat was invaluable too don't worry if it all doesn't happen she'll not doubt decide herself one day and that will be that

sazz wilma is top of my list - whats wrong with it?!?!?

Thanks for the tips Dizzy. She's chosen some pants (all very pink and garish) so hoping that their preservation will be a good motivating factor. Stickers seem to be working a little too well at present! Will be a boring day tomorrow, so will be on here constantly and may even be able to keep up!

dizzydixies · 11/06/2008 22:41

lol @ wee Teddy not being chipmonk

dizzydixies · 11/06/2008 22:43

poppy I always kept a favourite book/video near to potty too as she was more inclined to sit on it for any length of time too

tbh she wasn't fussed on the potty and just wanted to use the toilet but as I said she was older than your dd

Sibh · 11/06/2008 22:47

Hello,
Watching for a while and thought tonight would be a good time to join in. Apparently, there is a 2lb margin of error in the weight predictions which seems a bit mad. I had a scan with DD at 39.5 weeks and she was supposed to be 7.5 lbs --the consultant boomed to his student through a closed door that he thought the child might be growth retarded and she was born a week later at 8lb 13.5. I think the .5 is important having put the work into getting it out!
My DS was 9 and half pounds exactly and 62cm. When he was fully engaged he could still boot me in the ribs. I'm 5 ft 4 so there wasn't a lot of room left for me. Now I'm 31 weeks again, the advantages of having a tall, broad husband are beginning to fade again ... Both children are tall skinny things now.
Sorry to introduce myself with such a ramble.

dizzydixies · 11/06/2008 22:49

welcome welcome sibh lovely to have you - feel free to add yourself to the list

when are you due? do you know what you're having?

very impressed at your 62cm I though my dd2 was tall at 59cm and I have a few more cm on you (not many though!)

Thanks for the kind welcome Dizzy. DS is 5 and DD is two next week. I'm due on August 11th and I don't know whether it's a boy or girl. I'd guess a girl, but DD is keeping our options open with the names as her name for the baby is 'Giraffe.' Hope she doesn't know something I don't.

dizzydixies · 11/06/2008 22:54

rrassspppppp

  1. types faster than Sazzles
dizzydixies · 11/06/2008 22:55

Sibh we have similar dc then
dd1 is 5 in a few weeks and dd2 has just turned 2
dd1 has decided on names for dc3 - sex also unknown
girl - pinkey
boy - bluey

DP's on good form tonight... i asked him if he'd mind doing a bit of lady garden pruning for me. he's googled and given me a "menu" of styles and asked me to pick one!

dizzy those are inspired name choices by your DD1!

Expectant · 12/06/2008 06:22

DD please have an extra magnum white for me - I can't find them anywhere here and was enough of a fan before I got pg.

Baby still making shapes but think it has done a 360 and is still breech as I can feel what decidedly feels like a head under my ribs.

Have had 2 comments that I am looking radiant today - think it must be the sun from the weekend away - the panda eye effect obviously going down well!

Buckets · 12/06/2008 08:24

Heheh I watched that Big Babies thing, the phrase "It's hard to say no to your kids" doesn't half drive me mad. What's so hard about it? Who is the responsible adult?
Anyway, FYI my dd was 7lb3oz at 38w+1, DS was 9lb at 38w+5 - go figure.

Actually I'm not feeling so bad about my Tesco shop now, it did include newborn disps, toothbrushes etc and I guess prices have gone up since I used to budget £50 a week. And the milkman costs about £6 on top of that. But of course I forgot bogroll.

CaptainCaveman · 12/06/2008 09:21

Welcome welcome welcome sibh very nice to have you join us on the comfy (naughty) sofas . Am loving the name Giraffe btw.....my ds is 4.1 and is called Tom, he has named his unborn brother Jerry . Although he did say last night we could call him Daisy instead......

buckets am with you on the big babies comment - I just feel very sorry for that poor wee lad and the size of him. Also think the mother is deluded (omg, please tell me no-one knows her...I don't think any of us are from Liverpool are we?!) - of course the child will get teased at school! Kids are not as tactful as (most) adults.

miamla you posted that you 'keep feeling dizzy' - does dizzy mind this? Perhaps you should swap seats with someone on the sofa? LOL at your ladygarden styles - what more can one say?

sazzles did you get you thunderstorm? Have to say, our work have stopped access to facebook too - but as yet mn is undiscovered!

dizzy you forgot to add 'baby naming expert' to your CV. What do you think of Oliver btw? I really like it, and it was dh's suggestion but now he thinks its a bit 'gay'. Any variations on it you know of?

What is everyone up to today? I intend to demolish some ironing, sew dh's trousers and slob around until hosp appt at 2pm!!!.

Did I tell you that just as dh was boarding a plane to Belfast last week the button on his work trousers pinged off, comedy stylee, and he didn't have a spare pair with him hahahahahahahahahaaaaaa

cyteen · 12/06/2008 09:27

Aye aye Captain I'm at work today But on the bright side, my office is empty so I can do whatever I want, um, I mean work hard and productively of course Just as well no one's here, I've got a lovely big red zit next to my nose. So much for looking radiant!

Squidboy is clearly still transverse, he gave my left flank a reet good kicking this morning

cyteen · 12/06/2008 09:29

Btw I think Oliver is lovely - quite a strong name without being overly macho. I would have put it on our list myself if a friend hadn't used it last year.

alittlebitshy · 12/06/2008 09:40

wow - so many posts since i last checked yesterday morning.
sorry I haven't been posting - am feeling quite down in the dumps - probably mianly pg hormones plus dd is still not a happy girl so that is worrying me....

I saw midwife and sho on tues. now have a firm date for my section - 6 weeks today - how scary/real is that??!! I asked about which way baby is lying and they said he/she is head down, which means that it's the feet giving me jip on my ribs. ow!!
