readyforbed my first two were big babies and am pretty much on track for similar size - you can tell just by looking at me

I am having a growth scan on Wed though, the sonographer feels its a waste of time but the consultant wants it and I'm phoning ahead to make sure they have the notes from my previous labours as I don't know the circ of the girls' heads, just their weight and length

I think size of head and shoulders is the issue?

glad you're feeling a bit better - come and join us on the couch

CaptainCaveman · 11/06/2008 20:08

Oooh that sounds interesting - I think I may watch the big baby programme. When I was a student nurse I saw a newborn during my maternity placement - he was 13lb something and had a full head of hair, he looked about 3mo. His mother had gestastional diabetes and this was 1993 so no doubt diabetic control is somewhat better in 2008!!

If there is a space left in the naught corner then may I join you - for breastfeeding ds after 3 glasses of wine consumed over the course of 3 hours. Do I feel bad? NAY!! Is ds fine? As far as I can tell!! This happened once every 2 to 3 weeks....... Ahem. I can't promise it won't happen again either..........

CaptainCaveman · 11/06/2008 20:10

that'll be the naughty corner, not to be mistaken with the maths (naught) corner

dizzydixies · 11/06/2008 20:10

CC bet he slept better too

bloke I worked with was 14lb when born and he is the longest lankiest piece of string I've ever met - he winds me up something rotten about it though [meep]

both of mine looked like they should've had standard issue school bags upon their arrival and pretty much took up the wee cots in the matty ward

plenty more room on the sofa

readyforbed · 11/06/2008 20:11

Well, it has been said that there is a much better attitude to alcohol elsewhere in Europe because kids are allowed small amounts from a young age and it therefore isn't a big thing. We are just getting in there early to ensure it .

Good thing you have a big couch there Dizzy!

readyforbed · 11/06/2008 20:12

So out of interest, how big were yours Dizzy? just being completely nosey...

dizzydixies · 11/06/2008 20:13

dd1 was 10lb4 and 51cm long
dd2 was 11lb1 and 59cm long

VintageGardenia · 11/06/2008 20:13

Sazzles it's you lot who keep bringing it up. I merely notice and highlight for the record! I must say, though, to date it's all been vaguely suggestive and that's as far as it's gone. dizzy is the first to bring it to a New Level with actual positions.

I can't face big babies, will be attending to the Apprentice...

dizzydixies · 11/06/2008 20:14

well VG don't know about anyone else but my bump can hinder some of them

readyforbed · 11/06/2008 20:15

speechless.

VintageGardenia · 11/06/2008 20:15

Sorry I typed that before Dizzy's post appeared, I meant could not face programme, not people's actual babies .

My DS was 8lb 1oz, average I suppose.

CaptainCaveman · 11/06/2008 20:16

speechless at dizzies baby sizes or the positions she can (or can't) get into?

VintageGardenia · 11/06/2008 20:16

rfb wait till we start on your name!! Oh you fit in well around here...

CaptainCaveman · 11/06/2008 20:16

Ds was 5lb 7oz - think I'm aiming to double in size for ds2!!

Ladies I'm off to put my feet up and think about things I'd like to eat.

Will catch you all later xxx

readyforbed · 11/06/2008 20:20

Baby sizes - not speechless at all about positions - DH and I (very optimistically) tried at around 7.30am the other day - boys were both asleep still - attempt lasted about 5 mins before I was just too damn hot & tired (at 7.30?!). All suggestions gratefully received...

HazieDazieandBaby · 11/06/2008 20:21

Hi girls!! Hope everyone is doing well, you're all certainly feeling chatty! I haven't been on the computer for 3 days and the thread has moved on about 10 pages!! Is there a link between this and dizzy's maternity leave starting?

I have a major nesting thing going on! DH and I actually had a row the other night about it as I went mad cleaning the bathroom, using this bathroom spray stuff, and he went off at me cos he doesn't want me to do anything to harm the baby. I can understand his concern, but I wasn't drinking or inhaling the stuff. He told me to leave it to him, but I was so about it at the time that I said that if it was left to him, it wouldn't get done! I totally didn't mean it as he does more than his share around the house and has been amazing support since forever, but I was just upset cos it seemed like he was insinuating that I was intentionally putting the baby at harm and that I wasn't looking after her. Anyway, it's all sorted out now, but I'm secretly worried that maybe I have unknowingly done her some damage or something

While I'm on about worrying, I sometimes get quite fast, jerky movements from the baby and have it in my head that something's wrong and she's having some sort of fit or something. I'm going to talk to the m/w about it at my 31wk () appt tomorrow anyway, but thought I'd see if anyone else had experienced it first.

Oh, I got my dress from Isabella Oliver today and I'm severely disappointed. I have a Primark t-shirt which is made with exactly the same material and cost me 60 times less than the fricking dress!! I wanted to wear it on the white side, but it looks grey because the opposite side is black and the material is so thin and crappy that it shows through! Grr! I'm panicking a bit now as I stupidly pinned all my hopes on this one. Never mind, have our 2nd trip to Livingston this weekend to attempt the 4d scan again, so may pop in past Edinburgh on the way back for a look.

Okay, enough me, me, me now - bet you missed me eh?

I understand what you mean about the gym ball dizzy. I finally dragged mine out at the weekend (and spent 30mins trying to pump it up with a bike pump before giving up and venturing to Tesco for a footpump!) and when I sit on it it reduces to about half it's height! [shock} It's comfy though so thanks for the recommendation!

I'm loving your baby carrier VG! It's very cute, good choice!

I forgot to ask before cyteen but did you decide on a pram yet? I think I read that you'd been to visit a few, how did you get on?

readyforbed · 11/06/2008 20:21

6lb2 and 6lb 10... although DS2 was back to back which (apparently) makes their head circumference at least 1cm bigger (or so the midwife told me afterwards). I am hoping for similar!

Hazie, want to come over and do mine? I won't get cross whatever cleaning products you decide to use - will just be eternally grateful!

HazieDazieandBaby · 11/06/2008 20:24

Oh and dizzy, avoid itv1 like the plague and watch The Apprentice instead! I did consider watching it but was glad the The Apprentice is on at the same time as that took the decision out of my hands and I won't be able to freak myself out with dreams of 15lb-ers now!!

readyforbed · 11/06/2008 20:25

Just re-read your post (tactless me - sorry, was just over excited at the prospect of someone else cleaning the bathroom) - I don't think a bit of cleaning product will cause any issues, as long as you are not inhaling things (no innuendo intended) frequently.

dizzydixies · 11/06/2008 20:25

ready dd1 was back to back and bloody hellish - am desperatly hoping to sneeze and shoot this one out!

hazie!!! how lovely to see you don't be worrying about the spray but if he is that concerned let him do it!

sorry you're disappointed with the dress, I wasn't overly amused by the quality of them either. May I tentatively ask what size you are so I can help, have done a LOT of matty shopping for myself and others
