dizzydixies · 11/06/2008 15:44

afternoon everyone

had a weird one today, got up with the girls and took them to nursery, dh in bed so lay down to speak to him and subsequently woke up again at 12:30

meant to be collecting girls at 12:45 for swimming lesson so packed him off to get them while I jumped into very quick shower and me him at the pool lol

dd1 did well in her lesson while he took dd2 home for a nap - its like a farking sauna in our poor so not the most pleasant place for me to sit and watch her at the moment only 2 more lessons to go till they break for summer and frankly he can do them!

TS am not sure if it was the tonic water I forced in or the massage I had to give my sodding self before sleep but thankfully no cramps for me during night

left over lasagne for tea in dixie house tonight and then if the weather doesn't break we're off to the school summer fete to show face - has been lovely all day but i think there is a storm threatening

CC delighted to here the pampered feet are up and you're feeling better!

VintageGardenia · 11/06/2008 16:12

Wow tough times at work for everyone, between nastiness and battling for entitlements and worry re. security etc. Shows how much everyone has to deal with apart from is the baby growing and what shall I snack on next? It's thinking about this kind of thing that makes you realise how absolutely fantastic women are, that while life battles around them they simply cope and look after those they love and work hard in difficult jobs and mother their children and quietly have babies growing inside them all the time. And then they flippin well give birth.

Today I ask you all to raise a glass of tonic water to the women of the world! Hurrah!

Now when you've applauded womankind do ten more pelvic floor exercises.

Went to physio today so I now have a stretchy tubey velcro-ey strapup bracey thing for a mere 42 euro . Also stretches etc for lower back v similar to what yoga teacher has given. Also recommended limiting driving, not very likely unfortunately given long trip to work, long trip to school for DS, etc.

oops what happened today at work? They sound like gits, tbh.

CC and miamla positive vibes to you ladies looking after yourselves at home today, keep well & strong.

CC also you are getting Phrase of the Day award for "vacuum packing", for that is EXACTLY what it feels like in my tummy when I get what I assume is a BH.

dizzy sounds like you needed that nap! Sounds very cosy chez toi.

Buckets hope your little girl feeling better, and TS hope your DH managed to get into work and not feeling rotten.

cyteen hope you tacked your physical tropes etc! Sounds marvellous.

sazz your preparations for the baby sound very similar to mine except I see your one babygro and sling and raise you seven vests and a granny-knitted cardigan.

dizzydixies · 11/06/2008 16:16

VG you make a hugely valid and interesting point - just exactly what shall I snack on next?!?!?!?

forgot to mention I bought some lime cordial to go with vile tonic water - how on earth do people drink that stuff?!?!? blurgh

VG my tubi grip has been a permanent fixture for weeks now but it is literally just a MUCH bigger version of one you would pull onto sore knee or something, none of your fancy velcro strappy uppey stuff

VintageGardenia · 11/06/2008 16:21

LOL dd snacks after all did power the women's movement!

I adore tonic water, could drink it forever, or do you mean lime cordial is gross? I adore that too esp. with fizzy water. In fact will drink a big pint of it now.

Tubey strappy uppy thing easier with velcro, can't imagine pulling on a nonvelcroed one, wouldn't it be a bit like struggling into a tougher version of Spanx????? I'd be in a sweat before breakfast.

CaptainCaveman · 11/06/2008 16:23

Tonic and lime are a fave of mine dizzy - must be soft midlanders tastebuds

My frigging ribs hurt.

Have just eaten some Thorntons chocolate covered raisins which were yummy. Ds got them for Christmas - he'll never miss them now .

I'm very excited about my hosp appt tomorrow. Is that sad?

CaptainCaveman · 11/06/2008 16:25

hahahaha, I can just picture you turning up at the labour suite VG with your tubey thingy stuck over your head, arms waving in the air, whilst shouting "help help, I'm in labour". Actually, thats not funny, but the vision in my head is

VintageGardenia · 11/06/2008 16:27

Don't forget to add that as on way to labour ward would also be dragging spacehopper behind me, or possibly hopping on it blindly.

dizzydixies · 11/06/2008 16:27

vg tis true am normally in a sweat with it but I wouldn't be without it tbh - I have to wash it last thing at night and let it dry overnight because I went a day without it and it made a huge difference

I hate tonic water but then I hate gin as well so maybe I associate it with that

CC not sad at all, I still have a week to wait and am more nervous than excited I think as it will be decision making time [meep]

I think all hospital appointments are mini-milestones, you learn a little something at each one. I look forward to my visits, definitely. Hope it goes well .

cyteen · 11/06/2008 16:29

Am ashamed to say I've done bugger all this afternoon except put a wash on, do the washing up and accidentally discover where the rest of our clothes had disappeared to (inevitably I had put them in a cunning place pre-move, then completely forgotten about it). No academic effort made whatsoever though. I haven't even made it into the shower [smell emoticon] Feel completely blanko.

Re. the cats: I don't like the idea of them being out at night and since we're renting we don't have a cat flap, so my two are free to roam all evening In our old house the stairwell was enclosed so we could just shut them downstairs all night, but no such luck here. Think we'll have to put a bolt on the kitchen door before the baby arrives, so we can pen them in the kitchen/conservatory bit.

VG thanks for the pelvic floor reminders. If it wasn't for you I would not be doing any Have no brain today!

Grapefruit juice and tonic is a nice refreshing drink, but only if you have the taste for sour stuff

dizzydixies · 11/06/2008 16:30

pishing with rain so fete is no longer an opion lol

sazz very sweet of your dh

CaptainCaveman · 11/06/2008 16:31

Am just really really excited. More so now that I've seen a pic of my friends' newborn little boy (born yesterday). I'm hoping the cons can give me some idea if my anatomy makes my babies sit breech or if this one might yet go head down to blast off position.

Spent 1.5hours doing jigsaw whilst watching The Little Mermaid - I think it got about 8 pieces in. In my defense, it is one of those Disney mosaic jigsaws and not a 40 piece effort!

VintageGardenia · 11/06/2008 16:32

Gin and tonic, gin and tonic, gin and tonic [lust emoticon]

dizzydixies · 11/06/2008 16:33

CC does friend's baby have a name - am still searching for inspiration everywhere lol

VintageGardenia · 11/06/2008 16:33

Oh sazz your DH sounds gorgeous!

CaptainCaveman · 11/06/2008 16:35

cyteen I applaud your efforts! Now, this is exactly how you should behave with a newborn, minus the washing and accidental clothes discovering. Well done, give yourself a shiney. If you don't know what a shiney is, steer clear of cbeebies for life.

I have to say sazzles your dh sounds very cute to do that with the babygrow. Bless 'im.

dd is it good that its raining - surely that means you can stay home and eat rather than go out and let your feet swell up unnecessarily?

CaptainCaveman · 11/06/2008 16:36

He does dizzy - his name is Jared Chase (won't give the surname out too!) and he looks GORGEOUS

cyteen · 11/06/2008 16:37

I could fucking drink a gin and tonic just now - cheeky bastard letting agents from our old place have PISSED ME OFF

VintageGardenia · 11/06/2008 16:38

What have they done? Didn't you guys do a mammoth clean etc before you left, all was shipshape?

dizzydixies · 11/06/2008 16:43

CC am liking Chase (huge House fans in this house lol) but Jared wouldn't be my first choice because I know one

isn't a shame how people ruin names by association isn't it - meaning me in that sweeping statement!

am not devestated re not getting to fete, I phoned my friend who is only going because she already has a daughter at the school and it doesn't sound as if we'll miss much

just had massive barney with dd1 who has now been sent upstairs to her room with a smacked bottom

am so angry with myself for doing it too I could cry

I don't agree with smacking at all but she has been pushing and pushing and pushing since we came home and I've now managed to loose it completely

cyteen · 11/06/2008 16:44

Indeed we did, but of course being letting agents they are apparently bound by law to try and retain at least some of the deposit. I won't bore you with the details but basically, lots of stupid petty wrangling, mainly over the state of the carpets. They initially said they were 'heavily stained' and would need pro cleaning - DP pointed out we have had them pro cleaned. They came back with "they're not clean enough, you should have used a special pet-specific cleaning service/our named contractor" - DP pointed out that at no time was this stipulated to us. Now they're trying to say that they don't believe we had them cleaned at all! DP is sending our receipt along with a stiffly-worded letter of complaint to their MD.

It's just so unnecessary. We were excellent tenants for them and to all intents and purposes they were good agents. We would have happily recommended them to others but now we won't because they've been such thieving wankers

Sorry. I'm just so angry for my DP, that he's had to deal with all this completely unwarranted stress over a few measly quid.

CaptainCaveman · 11/06/2008 16:44

Rant away cyteen - what has happened?

I'm just off to fetch ds from nursery so no doubt won't be back til after he has gone to bed. I might take a photo of my sparkly toe nails for my profile page later!!

cyteen · 11/06/2008 16:45

Aww dizzy, have a hug (and a large chocolate-coated drink)

TwilightSurfer · 11/06/2008 16:47

{{clink}} Here Here WOMEN ARE GREAT!!

VG DH did make it to work...an hour late and I DO hope he feels miserable. I spoke to him briefly moments ago but only to let him know the cleaners found his shirts they "lost" yesterday.

Just making waffles for lunch. I think I have a breakfast theme going on at the moment. However, I may pop over to Sazzles for tea...I LOVE CHILI!!

Dizzy I had loads of strawberries before bed last night and I too was not bothered by cramps (on a DRUNK).

I'm refusing to nap today. I want to see if I sleep more soundly tonight without one. {wish me luck}
