dizzydixies · 09/06/2008 20:36

dixies has left the building in terms of her work, has been a long day but tis done, over and no more for about 9 or 10 months

evening all!!

TS you are such a star - I've had the funniest day in terms of moods swinging about all over the place but I SWEAR your horse at the front door has just fixed it all am glad you got on well at your apt too

Sazz magnum whites work for ALL pregnancy issues and frankly should be standard issue right from pregnancy testing kit, free on NHS all the way though and at least a 1yr supply after birth

oops am loving your named cushion! I love mine too but am a little less in love with it as it is just plain blue

shazza at least you've done a list, I haven't even got that far! I keep promising I'll start getting organised but am finding more and more reasons to put it off

albs agree completely with not realising with electricity - I hate it when we have a power cut - its not so much tv etc, just knowing you can't flick on a light when you want to is enough to put me on edge

dizzydixies · 09/06/2008 20:38

buckets am the opposite in this house, we have about 10 hairbrushes but can we find one if we need one - nope, not a hope am not convinced that dd1 isn't hiding them somewhere as she hates getting her hair done!

CC was measuring 34wks on Fri and I am apparently 33 today so its not all bad - I wouldn't worry about it too much!

stickybean tis lovely to see you, don't be a stranger

VintageGardenia · 09/06/2008 20:43

Hi everyone, glad to see you're all well, if a bit tired and frazzled by work and preparations.

Biggest LOL of my catch up was Buckets's nephew not having clawed hands. I hardly ever laugh out loud on the puter but was rocking back and forth on my Spacehopper at that.

dizzy can't believe you've finished work! I finish 4th July I think, if that's a Friday. Independence Day!

Yoga this eve was luuuurvely, most relaxing. Am going to try to get to physio this week though cos back painful & I think I want one of those superstrong support tubes. Also had ante-natal class at the w/e, was good & very reassuring about hospital (I have become SO suspicious of hospitals!) and general approach.

So the only other thing I have to report (till I remember everything else) is that I HAVE STARTED SNORING!

wtf?

dizzydixies · 09/06/2008 20:44

so who wants to hear about my last day then?

woke up at 5am with terrible cramp in left calf, eventually woke dh to help as I was in agony and worried if I stood up I'd need to pee so badly I've have an accident lol

thought better of going back to sleep )not much point for half hour) and went to shower where I decided to have a hormonal episode and started crying over the fact if I couldn't manage a leg cramp how as I going to manage childbirth

off to work laden with cakes and spent day receiving good wishes from lovely colleagues and being ignored by shift bitches

really - why are there some people who just can't be pleasant or f*ck off and say nothing at all? sorry but I just can't be bothered with them

anyway, cakes went down a storm, came away and collected dd1 from nursery, took her to dancing, handed out some of her birthday invites so she is hyper, came home and made some bolognaise for lasagne tomorrow and stir fry for tea

dh has blown up gym ball, I've had my standard magnum white and am about to bounce to hopefully help my achey pelvis

this week will be all about tidying the house/ sorting the spare room/ doing some college work/ catching up with MN and some RL friends and phoning to get osteopath/reflexologist and yoga appts hopefully

CC I'll see your dumplings and raise you two baked potatoes, my feet are huge tonight, am hoping the weather will bring a storm to shift the humidity before I melt

dizzydixies · 09/06/2008 20:48

VG!!! hi! I can't believe have finished too but I have to take a set amount of annual leave prior to matty and remembering I only work the first 4 or every 7 day shifts my annual leave takes me right through to 6th July which is when I officially start matty

have managed to find number for local bloke who does individual yoga lessons so was going to phone him to see if there was anything he could help me with

do you think I've left it too late maybe?

you've inspired me and am now bouncing on my ball whilst balancing the laptop on top of footstools and cushions

tis bliss on poor tortured pelvis

VintageGardenia · 09/06/2008 20:48

Acid reflux sounds horrible. Eating and sinking into the bath (well and one or two other activities ) are the only pleasures left to me!

Everyone says Gaviscon, but also apparently peppermint tea (did someone already say that?) - might be worth a try. Though obv Magnums cure of choice!

VintageGardenia · 09/06/2008 20:56

No way is it too late dizzy. If he's available definitely get him on board your pre birth team! I'd be amazed if you didn't get benefit from it. Even the enforced relaxation is beneficial, it's better than sleep.

Guess what I finally bought something, a BabyHawk sling. I have no idea whether it's the best or most appropriate or whatever, only that they had the most beautiful fabrics (you choose colour combo and fabrics). It was hideously expensive, I thought, but when I checked (post-purchase, natch) against the Mothercare equivalent here it works out cheaper even when you add in p&p. I ordered it sometime round midnight last night. Looking at it in the cold light of day I wonder is it going to be absolutely BOILING with a hot little August baby in it...?

TwilightSurfer · 09/06/2008 20:56

Ladies I have to tell you..Magnum is another name for a condom here. I've been reading all your posts about how Magnums help acid reflux, giggling away.

I also have to admit over the past hour I have been "sneaking" food into my bedroom. I have devil's food cookies stashed in a pillow case and potato chips (you call them crisps) under the duvet. Whenever I hear DD coming down the hall I make sure all is out of eye sight. I do not wish to share today.

Glad my horse story gave all a smile. I wish my poor cat felt the same way...he's still shaking.

dizzydixies · 09/06/2008 20:59

VG will phone him tomorrow - am not so sure I'm hesitating because he is a he - how pathetic is that

am also considering a sling but am a bit worried about findindg one big enough to accomodate chubby baby AND the norks

TS am soooooooooooooooooo coming to yours for a sleep over, I love a midnight feast

dizzydixies · 09/06/2008 20:59

pmsl at white chocolate condoms too

VG I looked at the same carrier. It didn't quite meet my newborn criteria but will be excellent for four months and up. They are soooo beautiful, aren't they.

Dizzy those shift b*ches are just JEALOUS!!

OP posts:
readyforbed · 09/06/2008 21:02

Hi all,

Just been browsing for the most part but was dumbstruck when i looked at VG's link for baby sling- not at the sling in general, but that one of the options has material with skeleton's heads and 'bad luck club' on it - VG - was this your material of choice?

Sling per se looks lovely though. Can't believe we are going to have to buy all of this stuff again. So much for "nope, only having two"...

readyforbed · 09/06/2008 21:04

Oh, and am SO about all this talk of maternity leave... have to wait until nearly term so around 10 weeks to go before I can think about it (unless DC3 decides to come early ofcourse).

I'd say if there was anything dodgy about him he wouldn't choose so obvious a cover as a one to one yoga instructor! Seriously though, yoga teachers are generally pretty cool, and really supportive if you can't make a stretch or whatever, they are always modifying the instructions to suit individuals. But maybe if there's a group class near you that might be nice, they might have a postnatal one as well.

Re. sling I don't know what your proportions are but for example on the Baby Hawk site if you go to the design your own page you can actually specify a regular or xl strap size. And because it ties rather than clips you have more leeway anyway.

TS pmsl at your food stash and may I crossly enquire if you spend your days eating such divine junk how are you so gloriously slim in your photos ?

dizzydixies · 09/06/2008 21:07

sazz no, one of my friends on the shift took me aside and told me that they were waiting until I had baby before they bought me something and they weren't for giving the shift cows the satisfaction of asking them for money towards a collection for me

the two of them never even had any of the cakes I took in and there were people coming in from other depts to try some

I have never been rude/offhand or even curt with these two mares but apparently they have huge issues with me, which I know all about due to people telling me - I am just above responding to them and they've been pulled up by the bosses, they just think they're above it all

am having a lunch with 5 of the girls next week, arranged without having to invite the witches, and will keep in close contact with them as usual, I just won't have the hassle of dealing with those I don't want to anymore

am trying not to sound petty or bitter about it but I freely admit it DID nark when they couldn't even be bothered to say goodbye or wish me well

none as queer as some I suppose

TwilightSurfer · 09/06/2008 21:08

Okay devil's food cookies are GONE.

Dizzy, you must be transferring some of your leg/foot cramp energy across the Atlantic because the past three days has be HORRIBLE for me. Doc told me today to drink more water and eat lots of bananas, strawberries and kiwi. I was really hoping he'd right me an order for a full body massage!!

OP posts:
readyforbed · 09/06/2008 21:08

Icecream...mmmm... have gone old school on icecreams for the kids (ever since they sneaked into the freezer a few days ago when i was mowing the lawn and demolished 2 each in the space of 5 mins!). So it's cones, a scoop and cornish vanilla icecream with sauce for them... and icecream with crunch breakfast cereal on for me - YUM! winner all round

dizzydixies · 09/06/2008 21:12

VG I think am just being a chicken tbh - nag me tomorrow to make sure I've phoned please

I keep changing my mind about a sling, if this baby IS a 12lber then am not so sure a sling is the way forward lol will def have a look though

TS bananas, water and strawberries all day tomorrow - no hardship for me there
may also be tempted by massage too - for medicinal reasons of course

TwilightSurfer · 09/06/2008 21:14

Cereal a la mode {{twilight makes mental note}}

VG I'm a eat whatever you want whenever you want kinda gal. It's not often though that I pull out all the junk food in the house and consume it all at once.

Sazzles....keep up girl we're moving fast today.

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 09/06/2008 21:16

Sazzles - they are LOVELY in comparison to gaviscon liquid and/or reflux. Of course Moses was organic - his mum only ever washed him in Soapnuts!

TS - white choccie condom???? - sounds fun but might help set off reflux (and melt in this heat)

Had 2nd nct classes today - THE FIRST 6 WEEKS was the board title - I nearly left without saying hello!!! If one more person tells me i will be fine i've done it all before with other peoples kids I will swear at them! Unfortunately my last experiance with a newborn was when my youngest charge was born 4.5 years ago - it was like the worlds best contraception - he never slept, always ate, had a mother with manic tendencies and a permanently absent father (and a very jealous 2 year old sister!) It just about finished me off.
Hospital tour on Wednesday night then off to the pub with the rest of the group.

Going to bed now - getting up when the sunrises is NOT a good plan - it was 04.54 incase you were interested!

dizzydixies · 09/06/2008 21:21

sazzles the thing is, they have an issue with me as I went off sick after matty leave with dd2 and when I was ready to return to work the force medics would only let me come back to work phased return - their choice not mine but I felt as if I was being forced to explain myself to these people and when I wouldn't do it they took unbridge - was my personal business, not theirs

anyway, one of them took the hump and that was that, whispered bitching and niggles and then indignant exclaiming when they were hauled up for it - I've probably added fuel to the fire by not rising to it and now that I'm off again they'll no doubt turn on someone else

tis pathetic really from grown women with families themselves who should know better

right, enough of my petulant whinging

if you could see me you'd pysl sitting on my ball which was a ball 10 minutes ago and now more like an egg lol
