My pj choice is limited. Determined not to buy matty ones though. Am wearing a pair of pj shorts i bought when I was about 17, that I assume I wore lst pg cos the elastic is stretched to extremes so is very comfy. Got a size 16-18 vest top (I bought it by accident from primark thought it was 12-14 but for the sake of £1.50 thought i'd keep it - good job i did). the 2 items roughly meet over my belly, though I do have a humpty dumpty look about me when I'm waddling about in them.

ooh - can hear washing machine has finshed. we have SUN so I'm off out to play with my twirly washing line!!

Buckets · 09/06/2008 13:17

I just bought new PJs for my hospital bag from John Lewis today, pink spotty things with a vesty top that looked like you could yank down and BF with. PJs are great for hospital as they help keep your giant pad in place but it will be boiling so I figured vesty ones were the way forward.
Just got to get a carseat, changing mat, newborn disps, new toothbrush and hairbrush (we have 1 for the whole family!) and I think I'm ready.

Hi Stickybean, so glad your bean stuck around.

PG1 - what was the answer about the bibs anyway, I can't remember! I'm packing a couple in my bag because even BF newborns have a tendency to puke.

Shazza2002 · 09/06/2008 13:38

Afternoon ladies.

Nothing interesting to say apart from the fact that girls are taking over the world.

Since August 2007 I have had 6 pregnant friends. All 6 of these have had girls (last one born on Saturday) Don't know why I felt I had to mention that but just weird.

Anyway I'll shut up now and finish my kit kat

pregnancy1 · 09/06/2008 13:59

Buckets the asnwer was yes - they still dribble/barf etc.
I was quite pleased with my mat pjs - have little clips on the vest top straps and a little jacket - all in pink obviosuly . I'm so glad I'm not the only one waddling about in normal pjs - I bought some in the states last summer and the shorts go under the bump and the top seems to just stretch over the bump. They don't look like they'll make it much longer though - I may steal the giant vest top suggestion from alittlebitshy.
I always thought that I'd work right up until the end, but I've just said that i'll work until 23rd July (longer if I can) adn I'm now thinking - argh, another 6.5 weeks..... V jealous of everyone going off soon

CaptainCaveman · 09/06/2008 14:05

Whazzat Buckets - you have one toothbrush for the whole family?
You girls are starting to sound like you mean business with having these babies. Thats like, proper planning and everything going on!

Am a little concerned about size of bump and fundal height - measurements have gone from 22cms at 25 weeks to 34cms at 30 weeks!! No wonder I feel so short of breath on minimal exertion. Seeing consultant on Thursday though so hopefully he'll shed some light on it.

Well I am officially bored at work now and want to be on mat leave. Harumph. Sleeping is still rubbish - waking up at 2am for at least an hour. Conversely, I could sleep all day!

alittlebitshy · 09/06/2008 14:12

oh goodness - yes I had wondered what to take into hosp pj wise... hmmm... I have 2 bf nighties but I think some sort of pjs with substatial bottom coverage to hold giant pants and loft insulation maternity pads in place might be in order. Must get toothbrush etc for hosp too.....

CaptainCaveman · 09/06/2008 14:21

Albs pick up a toothbrush for buckets whilst you are out will you? I feel sorry for her poor family having to share....

Greetings fellow incubators

Lots of big babies being brewed on this thread, eh! I'm a little nervous of seeing my mw on Wednesday now, she might try and measure me... Must remember to ask my dad how big me and my brother were at birth, not that he'll probably remember.

PJs - you'll all be pleased to hear that I'm still slopping around in my usual PJs, although since these partly consist of elderly tshirts and saggy Primark trews that's not so great an achievement. Am torn between buying some lovely new ones to wear post-birth and thinking that it will be a waste as they will inevitably get ruined by various bodily fluids. Decisions, decisions!

dizzy hope your shift is going/has gone alright and has generally been bearable. Soon you'll be a lady of leisure once more (sooner than me, in fact ).

LOL at TS washing her car while her partner drinks beer on the porch...I hope you were wearing a tiny stars-and-stripes bikini and some cowboy boots for maximum effect, TS

Shazza2002 · 09/06/2008 15:03

Ok so I've written a list of things needed for baby. Put it into 'Need to buy', 'Already Have' and 'Need to collect from x'.

Does that count as being orgnaised, or not cause I haven't actually got off my huge backside to go and get anything?

Shazza2002 · 09/06/2008 15:06

I'm also worried about the big babies thing 'cyteen'. All the babies I know that have been born recently aswell have been whoppers.

They better not try giving me one, that's not what I ordered !!!

cyteen · 09/06/2008 15:16

I'm hoping for a nice manageable 6lb-er [praying emoticon].

PetitFilou1 · 09/06/2008 15:30

Cyteen don't worry - you USUALLY only grow them to the size you can actually push out. Size does not relate to pain though - I hate to tell you but it hurts whatever size they are!

All you lot packing your bags, I will be at home and don't have to pack (I hope )

I had an Isabella Oliver nightie which was very nice and black so did not get ruined and was breastfeedable in. Very comfy - I will be digging it out again. In fact I don't recall it getting anything horrible on it. It could even have passed for evening wear at a push!

Buckets · 09/06/2008 16:24

I'm still fantasising about a nice small child, even though I won't be pushing him out anyway. My nephew's 3 next month and still really tiny, a lovely pocket-sized little boy. His older brother is a whopper though, born with huge hands like a mole (proportionwise I mean, not clawed etc), calculated to be at least 6'4" so it just goes to show that one big set of genes doesn't mean the next has to match.
So tired, have done lots of walking about in the sunshine today, will look in the mirror about 8pm and discover a whole new shade of sunburn I'm sure.
Um... think I've done something a bit silly this afternoon. Do you think drinking a litre of cheap gingerale will improve or worsen my acid reflux?

alittlebitshy · 09/06/2008 17:13

hmmm.... when i was pg with dd the only thing that helped my heartburn was firey ginger beer . not sure how that worked but still. So here's hoping you don't suffer after your ginger ale buckets.

cyteen · 09/06/2008 17:29

Lashings of ginger ale all round! I had some yesterday and it was fine, although tbh my acid reflux doesn't appear in any sensible way. I can eat a foot-long Subway full of chillies and gherkins with no problem, but then spend 4 hours the next day retching on water.

CaptainCaveman · 09/06/2008 19:05

ahhh, just had a lovely couple of hours 'relaxing' in the garden with ds. I did manage to file my nails though so I guess it wasn't all bad. Dh and ds currently playing hide and seek .

Feet have got fat today - puffed up like dumplings. Wish it was 3rd July and I would be finishing work.

TwilightSurfer · 09/06/2008 19:33

Well my days never seem to be without an element of ODD. Walking into my living room an hour ago I found a horse standing at my front door looking in at me. Seems my neighbor's two horses escaped so DD and I walked them home. In the process one of my male cats was scared out of his furr...haven't seen him since. My years of farm life seem to always come in handy.

PJs...doesn't anyone just make do with DHs clean boxers and a t-shirt across the pond?

Pregnancy1, I've got the beach whale roll down to a science...it's all about leading with your legs.

Stickybean, glad you stopped by for a moment. Better be quick to the shops to catch up with current purchasing trends on this thread though...we've done some SERIOUS damage lately.

Petitfilou, I brought up my dizziness today with my OB/GYN and he said with all the organs being pushed around it's easy for that to happen.

Sazzles, it's DAMN HOT here!! It should cool off for a few minutes once this thunderstorm dumps on our house...it will be short lived though. Peppermint tea for the reflux, dear. It's been my GOLDEN DRINK for loads of aliments this pregnancy.

Cyteen, I did have on my bikini while washing my vehicle. Of course I don't think it was quite as eye pleasing this time as a year ago. OH AND to give an even prettier image..I was wearing my dish gloves so the soap wouldn't make my hands feel all dry and cracky afterwards.

Baby Size....my first was 7lbs 1oz...I didn't think I had any problems pushing her out. Here's hoping #2 is about the same size.

Captain, sorry about the feet. Sounds like they need a nice cold soak and massage.

OB/GYN visit went well this morning. DD tried to tell the doc how to do his job. OH THE JOYS OF A FOUR YEAR OLD KNOW IT ALL. Baby is breech again. He seemed positive that things should work out in the end since the baby spent two solid days head down this weekend. She's just testing her enviroment. He'll give me another ultrasound at 35 weeks just in case which should give us plenty of time to get her to turn before she's too big. He also afford to start my labor at 39 weeks if I wanted. SO only 6 to 9 weeks left!!! YEAH!!!! Here's hoping she turns on her own and birth starts naturally in 6.5 weeks without issue!!!!!!

oopsacoconut · 09/06/2008 19:36

Hellllooooo

Buckets - you can have our spare toothbrush - we always have 2 or 3 spare for last minute drunken men visitors.

Could you all please stop talking about when you finish work - i don't finish until the end of term so it's 6.5 weeks until i get some rest.

Today the acid reflux has kicked in from a glass of water followed by a glass of milk now i'll just eat anything as it can't get any worse. Anywhoo i have loads of fabulous gaviscon tablets to keep me going.

Have yet to have my bump measured by the midwolf but am scared as i got my first gasp and 'poor you' comment today when i said i have 10 weeks left.

Someone popped into work today and gave me an 'organic' moses basket with blankets etc. 3 types of sling and a b/f pillow - amusingly called 'my breast friend' DH nearly died of embarrasment when walking from office to car carrying the box with MY BREASTFRIEND written on the side in 8inch high red letters.

Off to eat anything i can find.

oopsacoconut · 09/06/2008 19:38

btw - why is the organic part so inportant????

TwilightSurfer · 09/06/2008 19:38

The spelling errors throughout my last post are there for amusement purposes.

alittlebitshy · 09/06/2008 19:47

oh - loving the horse rwilight!!!!!!!!! Am stifling the giggles (am at work).
btw i did try to boxers route for pjs but i couldn't get into them. grr.

I haven't told you all about my exciting/traumatic weekedn have I?

Well... on sat we had the wedding where dd wasn't a bridesmaid. Was 1.5- 2 hours away. We kept meaning to leave but thought we'd wait for the speeches. Then the speeches lasted no more than 3 mins total so we wished we'd left 45 mins earlier. I took dd to the loos to get her in her pjs so we could put her straight to bed when we got home. Dh took ages in the loo... turns out his phone rang while he was in there. Was our lodger saying we had no electricity. He'd checked the usual (often if a bulb blows it trips the circuit but a flick of a switch sorts that), he'd been to see if the neighbours had elec - they did. Thank goodness we'd not left cos if dh's phone was in his pocket and he was driving we'd have got home at 10.30 and not had a clue about it all. lodger was fab. went a borrowed a torch from a neighbour (dh has mislaid ours grrr) and called the elec company. they said someone would be out within 3 hours. when we got home dd and i went to bed in mine and dh's room and he was going to go in her room. dh and lodger sat in the hall with candles waiting for elec man (door bell electric). Man came - checked all he could, said it wasn't a fault within the house so somoene would be out within 18 hours to dig up the road. Amazingly they were there by 8am the next morning (I am so impressed with elf). By the time i got out of church at 1.30 we had power! yay!!! But you don't realise HOW much you rely on elec til you have none....

TwilightSurfer · 09/06/2008 19:53

ALBS glad you're powered up now. My DH works for our local power company so I completely understand your plight.

Storm is here....and it's HUGE. Might not be connected for much longer............... lighting is all over. DD is running around the house asking, "when can I go out and play in the rain!!"

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 09/06/2008 20:06

Storm over....

OP posts:
Buckets · 09/06/2008 20:36

That was quick TS, has it cleared all the weird stormy energy (I love that)? Do you get twisters in Tennessee or have to batten down the hatches etc?

Yes of course we all share the same toothbrush, it's the eco-warrior recycling way donchaknow? Actually I can't explain why we only have one hairbrush though (and it's DH's!), really not a good idea once you'e had your first headlice attack is it?

LOL at Oops' new products, that'll be a wealthy colleague then with all the organic stuff.
