Finally mamaged to catch up on the last few days.

Buckets Sorry you had such a terrible time - my bestbuddy has a son who has aspergers and just cannot cope with situations like that - he even has problems with large crowds at shops etc. It is amazing how everyone just assumes that you are 'letting' him behave that way and all he needs, as we have been told many times, is a good smack and some boundaries Hope today was more peaceful and I am pleased your DH stayed with you it seems to be what you needed.

Cyteen - we also did the initial pram shop on a wet saturday - not good as everyone seemed to have the same idea - do you have a local 'little' babyshop near you? We found them a lot more helpful and let us try things out and play with the prams - they were also more knowledgeable (sp????) on the products and how they worked.

Dizzy - hope work was Okay today.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone.

Shazza2002 · 07/06/2008 20:11

Buckets - So impressed with your comment "I would like to have sex tonight" Pre pregnancy for me it never actually crossed my mind until DP had spent half an hour fumbling around down there getting me in the mood . I very rarely instigated it, whereas now it's a completely different story. Like this afternoon for instance, really wanted it so persuaded DD to go upstairs for 10 minutes and suggested she got all her dressing up stuff out and did a show for her dolls. Which she did. I felt terrible afterwards, but during this pregnancy I just can't get enough of it

dizzydixies · 07/06/2008 22:18

evening all, just a quickie from me

work was shite and am tired as dh's sore through means he is snoring like a bog eel and I didn't sleep properly

collected girls after work and came home at which point my aunts turned up which was lovely - we had a bbq and the girls were great

my aunt also brought me all of dd1's clothes aged 2-3yrs so its like I've had a massive shopping spree for dd2

right, off to bed as up early again tomorrow, second last day though and then I'll have to deal with the shift bitch no more

oops penvy of the pram - I love that one. kids are well on road to recovery thank you, if I could just get rid of the snotty noses and clear up the last few spots that would be great - dh recovering too!

miamla am hoping dh and you are snuggling up somewhere

cyteen agree with suggestion about small pram shop, I got our original one from a small shop in a town near here and they were wonderful, unfortunately its closed now

sazz are you back on UK time yet?

dizzydixies · 07/06/2008 22:19

shazza very impressed lady, I don't think dh could breath long enough to manage some nookie just now, he's only just coping with going upstairs without being out of breath!

poppysocks · 07/06/2008 22:29

Sorry to hear about the row with your DP Miamla. Hope he cheers up soon. Glad to hear yours is being so good to you Buckets.

Lovely day here. Fab weather, which always makes things seem better. Met my brother for lunch with DH and DD and then after DH had sorted the whole garden, he lugged furniture around and we reorganised all our bookcases and managed quite a cull on our books(we have a RIDICULOUS number).

DH even said that he wondered if this was nesting!!! Since the baby has been kicking loads at night, which he gets a chance to feel, he really seems to have got into this pregnancy, which is great. Still says he's dreading actually having to deal with another newborn though. Half way there though, so not complaining!

We got all our baby stuff last time from John Lewis last time and they were great. The 'never knowingly undersold thing' meant that we knew we weren't paying extra for all the help and advice we got and we set up a wedding list type thing that allowed our families to buy bits and bobs. Also gave us loads of freebies from the cafe!

poppysocks · 07/06/2008 22:31

Hooray for nearly finishing work Dizzy. Glad you managed a bbq. We were sorely tempted, but instead managed to persuade DH that we should eat the stuff that was going out of date in the fridge. Keeping fingers crossed for more sun tomorrow for a bbq then.

Does nesting mean that I will start enjoying cleaning? I hope so, and I wish it would start soon ... DH gets good husband marks for lots of cleaning this afternoon, but apparently now I´m out of credit, so he won´t be hanging pictures until next weekend.

Having been emotional, tearful hormonal all week am feeling a bit better, probably because now we have a cleaner flat.

Apparently the caesarian section rate at the hospital where we have our health insurance is 37%. The midwife said "yes, it´s low and we try to avoid interventions." Got home and did a bit of googling, and yes, for private hospitals and health insurance providers here it is a low rate ... suspect that I occasionally come across as a hippy foreigner.

Night/morning all

Mornin All

How many muslins do you think I will need?? Am about to buy some on Ebay (new not used as DH thought!!!!) And they come in packs of 12 should i get 1 or 2?

LWFH - thats not a bad rate - one of our local NHS hospitals has a 62% c/section rate for first time mothers So we chose to go to one further a field where i have the chance of the birth I want.

Sazzles how was the Boot sale? Any interesting things for DD?

GOing shopping for BBQ food and Sainbury's pink iced donuts - I could eat a whole pack right now!

Have a cheery sunday everyone!

Hi Sazzles - I ended up getting a set of 16 for £8.99 including postage - they had better feedback than the original one i was looking at.

16 yellow and orange muslins

cyteen · 08/06/2008 12:14

Morning all

It's glorious sunshine here (for a change!) so we're planning to get out in the garden later. The place needs weeding, plus we're going to let the cats out for the first time since they have definitely reached the limits of indoor boredom - the chunks of fur littering the carpet after last night's battle attest to that. Been to the supermarket this morning so we are now fully stocked with food. I'm going to do roast pork for dinner; hope it turns out alright, I've never done pork before. Any top tips for a tasty roast?

Well done on securing muslins oops, all my friends who already have kids are constantly on at me to make sure I have loads in the house. Also good shopping there Sazz, you must have the knack for boot sales - whenever I go it's nothing but chipped china figurines and pro-wrestling videos.

miamla · 08/06/2008 14:13

You want tips for a tasty roast? Get in taxi, tell the driver to go to miamla's mum's house, go in door and sit at table!
Works a treat for me!

DP and very much friends again. Didn't really find out what was wrong but I suspect its because he's worried about our bedroom not being finished before the new bed arrives.he was meant to be out today but he's stayed home instead so all is happy here again

Glad everyone's had such a nice Sunday. I did manage to have sex last night but it gave me lots of lower back/hip/pelvis pain afterwards as seems to be my cross to bear these days (running out of positions!). Had to have a hotwater bottle. Worth it though, although not sure if DH will agree much longer, makes him feel so guilty.
Anywy, nice lazy day at local park thing, lunch in a nice pub garden, then reading/playing in the garden all afternoon. I'm now off for drinks and chocolate swap at a friend's house - we all bring a bar of our favourite so we can try a bit of each, good idea huh?

Buckets · 08/06/2008 19:01

Oh, forgot to say I found the Krispykreme stand at a local Tesco today but didn't buy one. They just looked horrible, couldn't bring myself to buy any! Will stick to the cream-filled belgian buns at my local baker, they're bigger and probably have less Enumbers.

CaptainCaveman · 08/06/2008 21:37

Fear not girls, I am still here (whats that, no-one missed me?.... )

Well I have been a very busy girl, hacking back bushes in the garden and trimming the leylandi big tall trees. Utterly knackered now but the garden looks good.

sazzles welcome home - we missed you. LOL at the tan lines, I have a similar version of events under my boobs too!

dizzy just been looking at your facebook picture - you paint yourself as being VERY big but you are looking quite svelte and sexy to me on that pic.

miamla I'm glad you and dp are friends again. Men just don't understand our fickle needs, let alone their own!

fundal height now at 34 cms....and I'm 30 weeks . Eh - how can it have grown 12 cms in 5 weeks??!!!

second last day at work was ok, the two shift PITAs are in though so doubt anything will be done for me leaving, I really don't mind but I know they won't even say goodbye

TwilightSurfer · 09/06/2008 02:19

Well Sunday is coming to a close here at the Twilight place. It has been a very hot and humid weekend. We sent the majority of it outside. DH gave DD her first fishing rod. She practiced her cast technique from late Saturday evening until late this evening. She has good form and control but still managed to catch every tree in our yard. DH plans to walk her down to the lake later on in the week and add "live" bait to the mix. If she has my luck she'll catch a HUGE fish on her first cast. We also played in the tiniest of plastics pools and went through an entire bottle of bubbles. A new thrill for DD is riding her trike down the small hill in our front hard with her feet up in the air....she's a bit of a dare devil. DH cleaned our gutters then I power sprayed the front of the house, the porch and lawn furniture. After which DD pretended it was raining, playing with the water hose in the front yard until well after dark. Today I managed to get one coat of paint put up in the master bedroom. Here's hoping I can get the final coat on sometime this week. DD questioned me the entire time about her PINK room. Maybe I'll get to that before I give birth. And to finalize my weekend I hand washed my SUV (while DH sat on the porch drinking a beer.) That last comment sounds really bad doesn't it.

I did try to keep up with the weekend conversations but failed miserably. Seems my attention span is getting shorter and shorter as the weather gets hotter and hotter. I promise to be a better thread member tomorrow and the days that follow.

As for tomorrow, I have another OB/GYN visit to check my status. Only 6 to 10 weeks left on this rollercoaster and I couldn't be more thrilled. The baby still seems to be properly positioned and oddly I've noticed I'm not getting light-headed any more. I wonder if the trans and breech positioning was pressing on things inside me causing that feeling???? Hiccups are now abundant. She has them at least three or four times a day for what seems like FOREVER. This is a very good sign that she's progressing well.

I am looking forward to everyone starting their maternity leaves. Our thread will become wild again in no time.

Have a wonderful morning!!
TS

Moooorning,
Hope you are all well and refreshed after a calm weekend.
I went to the physio on Friday and got a v glamourous support belt for my spd. Also had more lessons on how to roll over in bed (serious pain - is it just me doing a beached whale impression?). Went to Bluewater on Sunday to tidy up our JL list - was most disappointed that the cuddly toy I'd picked for bean wasn't in the store to pick up, but should be delivered in week 36-ish with everything else(currently 30). V embarrassed - had to ask a sales assistant whether babies needed bibs if you were breast feeding . Luckily, she just answered as if it was a perfectly normal question and didn't run round the store screaming that I wa clearly not going to be a fit mother if I asked stupid questions like that!
Feeling v smug other than that - think we have pretty much all the basics ordered (or borrowed from a v kind friend). Just got to pull our finger out and order our nappies (have a voucher from our borough to put towards them). Even bought my first pair of maternity pjs - I think it says something about my nightwear choice if at 30 weeks I still fit into my normal pjs .
Anyway, enough rambling. Hope everyone is well & prepared for the trauma that will be this week on the tube!

stickybean · 09/06/2008 09:19

Hi Everyone,

I havent't been on for so long you probably don't even remember me, but have a day off work so have taken the time to catch up.

Pleased you are all ok, i am fine, nearly 30 weeks. Apart from a bit of trouble sleeping and feeling very big all seems to be going well so far.

Not bought a single thing yet, with only 10 weeks approx to go i should get cracking on that!

Anyway, just wanted to say hi. Take care ladies
xxx

PetitFilou1 · 09/06/2008 12:00

Hello stickybean and everyone else.... been off for a few days - I can't catch up with you all when I come back!

Had my midwife appt today and feeling a bit dizzy now - not sure why - maybe the anti D and the fact that she has taken bloods again. She measured me - first time any midwife has ever done that and I measure 31 weeks (I am 28). I'm not very surprised though. I told her ds2 weighed 2 lb at 25 weeks according to the scan and she looked a bit shocked and said well he is probably 3 or 4lb by now then. She suggested I might have him at 38 weeks as I had a 39 week pregnancy last time. That means only 2 weeks mat leave but I'd still be happy to have him out I think! Still, because I'm having a homebirth she said I may be sent for another scan so we'll see whether this one is a big one. Think I have childbearing hips so should be ok! #

Hope you're all doing ok. Enjoying the sun here thankfully...
