miamla · 05/06/2008 17:50

oh and i forgot to say...i was measured yesterday, i'm measuring 34 weeks so i can now politely stick two fingers up at all those who say i look small! apparently its because i'm so tall and slim (consultant's words not mine but i can see that quoting her is going to lose me friends on here!)

argh, friend round for dinner and i haven't been to the shops yet, really must get off here and buy us some food. what's everyone else having? i think i'm going to do a shepherd's pie

longwayfromhome · 05/06/2008 19:16

Hi, been to the doctors today and the baby is breech at the moment. My obstetrician told me that she doesn't do ECV in case the umbilical cord is around the babies neck. I was wondering, CaptainCaveman - if you don't mind telling us, how did you know that this was the situation with your DS? and so you couldn't have ECV (I think that this is what you said was the situation) as it seems odd to me not to offer it at all.

Baby will probably turn anyway, I have been reading the NICE guidelines for some light entertainment on the subject. Greetings to all.

dizzydixies · 05/06/2008 19:24

hi longway - apparently its not an issue until you're 35wks as there is plenty of room to turn until then if thats any help to you?

TS there is apparently an American book called The baby name Wizard book by Laura Wattenburg which suggests 5 names that 'go' with your child's name for suggestions for siblings - do you have it, have you heard of it?!?!?

will catch up with everyone's posts after battle of bath has been fought and hopefully won

PetitFilou1 · 05/06/2008 19:43

Ok I am eating too much non food (crisps, biscuits etc), I haven't done pelvic floor exercises for weeks (I hate the feeling of them when I'm this pregnant) and I still haven't vaguely got near to starting my dinner or making the dcs lunches for tomorrow. Someone please tell me to get a grip...

TwilightSurfer · 05/06/2008 20:08

Dizzy are you talking about this? If so, then yes. I've kept going back to it with each name idea. I've not looked at the book but it's been in the news ALOT here in the states.

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 05/06/2008 20:13

that reads confusing...
allow me to rewrite....

Dizzy,
Yes I've heard of the book. It has been in the news alot here. I have not actually read through the book. I have on the other hand used the book's website to go over name ideas for the past several months.

There that's a little better.

dizzydixies · 05/06/2008 20:25

oohh, website TS? can I have a link please?

petit I've just eaten a lemon puff & a chocolate mousse so obviously have to even it out and will soon dispatch dh to the kitchen for the kettle chips

nothing interesting in house of Dixie except dh dragged himself to Drs and has been diagnosed with something so I can no longer accuse him of having man flu. Took dcs to nursery for a wee while this morning only for them to phone and tell me to collect dd1 as she was sad and lethargic - went rushing back over and there she was happy as a pig in muck eating her lunch - they at least had the good grace to be mortified for worrying me!

inbetween managed to do a tesco shop/bake cake for colleague of dh (she gave me a bottle of wine and £10 bless her, hope it tastes ok)and babysat for friend's dd - was lovely having the 3 of them lined up at the dinner table - dd1 was very excited saying she was practising being the biggest sister [bless her]

midwife and school meeting tomorrow morning - when did my baby get old enough to go to school?!?

dizzydixies · 05/06/2008 20:26

omg TS ignore me, I just looked at the page your link opened - am a balloon

thank you!

readyforbed · 05/06/2008 20:33

Evening everyone,

Ah petitfilou, you make me feel so much better - TS guilted me into doing an hour's worth of ironing the other night (and putting it all away) because she came on and said how organised she had been .

I am having a real crips issue at the moment as well (am justifying it with loads of fruit) but also bad heartburn, which i have never had before - any suggestions?

Continuing on the pregnancy brain issue from a few days ago - mine is clearly getting worse... was tidying the kitchen last night when the dishwasher stopped - no nothing at all. Changed the fuse - nothing. Thought 'oh great, it has died' (it is 7 years old so am expecting it to some time soon). Took everything (full load) out, washed and dried it all, got the yukky water out with a jug... when DH came back and I told him, he went straight to the isolator switch on the wall and went 'oh look, you have knocked that to off'.

CaptainCaveman · 05/06/2008 20:40

lwfh I saw cons at 37 weeks and she confirmed on scan that ds was breech. She then did an arterial blood flow scan which showed the cord wrapped around ds' neck. That meant they couldn't turn him for risk of strangulation! Not sure what the NICE guidelines say but something about contraindications for ECV. Had he NOT had his cord round his neck I would have been offered ECV.

Am seeing cons next thurs and plan to ask him if there is any reason why ds2 should be in exactly the same footling breech position as ds1. If he stays that way they won't offer me ECV because of the previous section. However, still loads of time for him to turn yet!

Has everyone failed to notice that I mentioned having had sex this morning at 6 30 .......

dizzydixies · 05/06/2008 20:45

CC I did notice that so am taking it to mean you are no longer unwell

wasn't commenting on it though as was told off a few threads ago for talking about nookie - can't remember but someone isn't getting any and we're no longer allowed to mention it

PetitFilou1 · 05/06/2008 20:45

Yes I saw that CC, I was just jealous that your dh was actually THERE at 6.30. Mine has been away for three days this week (and is now not home as on call at the hospital for next 24 hrs), was away four days last week and when he is here gets up at 6am. Get the violins out for me - life with a doctor...

readyforbed · 05/06/2008 20:45

Nope, did notice earlier, but too to comment! I reckon that is about the only time i have enough energy at the moment - has actually only been a few days, but would love to feel energetic enough for more often.

We have a tempur mattress, and I am sure that the lack of bounce makes things much harder work

PetitFilou1 · 05/06/2008 20:47

Oh and readyforbed, pregnancy brain, I know it well. Standing in front of the fridge going 'now why I am here?' or having dh say 'why is the icecream in the fridge?' etc etc

dizzydixies · 05/06/2008 20:50

butter tub in the microwave for me girls, would like to blame it on dc but the microwave is too high up for them

PetitFilou1 · 05/06/2008 21:02

For a minute there dizzy I thought you were melting a tub of butter to eat - I thought now that really isn't healthy

TwilightSurfer · 05/06/2008 21:11

translation: butter tub?

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 05/06/2008 21:13

Captain so are you saying the sexual encounter you spoke of was not part of the thunderstorm and flooding dream??

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 05/06/2008 21:14

TS sorry - tub of butter which should have been in fridge but after good long hunt was found within the microwave

longwayfromhome · 05/06/2008 21:17

dizzydixies and CaptainCaveman - thank you for your replies. Really helpful.

Swimming costume to be ordered tonight, very exciting ...

readyforbed · 05/06/2008 21:17

Have you looked at the people on this website? DH agrees with me that they must just be wearing strap ons (bumps that is). IF they are real I am vvvv not really pg

TwilightSurfer · 05/06/2008 21:22

Okay Dizzy...I follow you now. Actually in my mind I thought you were microwaving butter popcorn but PFs remarks made me question that, as it well should have.
I feel like my mind is about two stops short of my station at all times.

I'm making doctor's notes for Monday's visit. Captain's arterial blood flow scan is now on it.

Readyforbed, dear please, you've got the WRONG impression of me. Organized, I am FAR FROM. Just juggling and seeing what drops first. OH and I would NEVER allow you to iron. Irons are BAD, VERY BAD tools.

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 05/06/2008 21:24

Readyforbed....have you seen my bump?

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 05/06/2008 21:25

Now you hate me for "making" you iron and for having a strap on bump. LOL

OP posts:
readyforbed · 05/06/2008 21:26

TS - I agree, for me they are just an excuse to let the washing pile up and not be put away... until i get guilted
