Ah, can't you tell I'm on the mend - the sense of humour chip has been restored to working order!

dizzydixies · 04/06/2008 21:01

have to admit my toenails have been the same colour for about 10months as all I do is fill in the gaps and cover the chips

CaptainCaveman · 04/06/2008 21:12

And all this coughing and sneezing is proving that my pelvic floor needs some serious exercising! And squeeze, and hold....

dizzydixies · 04/06/2008 21:14

oh lord, we should be reminding ourselves to do our pelvic floor excercises every day [sigh]

have I mentioned I just read 'stand and deliver' by emma Mahony?
I think I have, sorry to be a bore and repeat myself but its very good, wish I had read it first time round

CaptainCaveman · 04/06/2008 21:18

Aye dizzy, that you did. Now, stop avoiding pelvic floor exercises by pretending you have got short term memory loss.....

To do:
Buy a pram
Pack hospital bag
Wash baby clothes
Get stuff out of loft so baby has somewhere to sleep
Stop procrastinating
Pelvic bloody floor bloody exercises
Finish jigsaw which I started when I was last on mat leave (that'll be four years ago then!)
Clean all the windows as it will be the last chance for at least a year...

dizzydixies · 04/06/2008 21:22

lol - you're obviously getting better cheeky mare!!

am not embarassing myself by doing a to do list! for this evening it includes shifting the heap of ironing off the spare bed and removing dh from ours so he can sleep in it and give me peace tonight

tomorrow I have to make a cake for one of dh's colleagues so she can pretend to her family that she did it - she's asked me to make it a bit 'wonky'

and then frantic tidy of house as am babysitting for neurotically tidy friend who will probably pack up baby and leave when she sees the state of chez dixie

CaptainCaveman · 04/06/2008 21:25

You are waaaayyy to organised. Where's TS this evening?
I just noticed its nearly 9.30 already! Bed time me thinks! Good night dear dizzy, catch you tomorrow x

dizzydixies · 04/06/2008 21:26

night CC hope you're feeling even better again tomorrow

miamla · 04/06/2008 22:35

evening all, anyone still awake out there?

VintageGardenia · 04/06/2008 22:40

Oooh wonder if will be a girl.

Have just "treated" self to 2 helpings of the Apprentice now hauling self up the stairs. When I say painting toenails please don't imagine me languishing on a daybed with bottle of rouge noir reaching toes with ease. More like gripping one toe at a time & hauling it towards me around the bump & firing a splosh of stuff in general direction of toe. Hitting nail is a bonus.

dizzy you're a bit of a cake whizz arencha? You'd go down well in our house

A dog has eaten a hole in my really nice carpet am not best pleased.

Am rereading Good Wives as my bedtime story. Is giving me a lot of hollow laughs.

Night night duckies.

miamla · 04/06/2008 22:51

night night VG

TwilightSurfer · 04/06/2008 23:11

Hazie, my SIL about fell in the floor when I told her how much one of those bags cost ($99US) and that I wanted to get one. This from the lady who chain-smokes so is obviously spending WAY more than that each month to pollute her lungs (not to mention medical expenses related to her smoking). Now that you've mentioned you were impressed I'm more inclined to purchase one on-line.

I think my baby purchase needs are down to:
A New Diaper Bag
A Bouncy Seat
A Sling/Carrier (maybe both)

I noticed a cute nursing cover today BUT I am beginning to think I may not put myself through the BF thing. There was a wonderful thread on here yesterday that made me feel a little better about not forcing myself to do it. Please don't hate me for this thought at the moment. Here's the link to the cover just in case anyone is interested.

Captain, good luck with doing pelvic floor stuff now. With the sneezing and coughing AND BABY ON THE BLADDER...time to purchase thin incontinence pads!!

VG I hauled my toes up to REMOVE the polish I put on during week 6. Figured best to just get the stuff off now cause in a week or so the toes won't be HAULABLE. Next nice coat will be put on in the week(s) leading up to birth....by a professional.

Longway, either suit is nice but don't be afraid to order an Old Navy tankini in your normal size. That's what I did and I've been very happy with the fit.

OP posts:
longwayfromhome · 05/06/2008 01:51

TS, thanks for the advice. DH has pointed out that it is easier to ship from the US - so Old Navy a possibility as am currently looking on ebay.

Buckets · 05/06/2008 09:32

LOL at the nursing cover, was wondering what on earth that could mean! So it's basically an apron or a cut-open shopping bag? I chose not to BF my DS but have decided to try and be a baps-out public feeder this time, just for the sheer pleasure of embarrassing other people .

I'm not feeling so sick today but am still shattered, hopefully better for this wedding tomorrow.

Had a a dream that I hooked up with Eminem, had to choose between him and his mate, Aidan Quinn from Desperately Seeking Susan, all of us aged about 18 hanging out in my hometown. IRL Aidan Quinn would win hands down but he was really needy and annoying in my dream so I went for the money, fame and naughty charm instead.

CaptainCaveman · 05/06/2008 12:40

Well dream experts, I kept dreaming about thunder storms last night, and a bit of flooding but there was no danger in my dream iyswim?

Feeling better again today - must be the regular paracetamol plus the antibiotics. That and a quickie with dh at 6.30 this morning hee hee. (must've been the sight of my pruning that got the better of him...)

What are you all up to today?

TwilightSurfer · 05/06/2008 13:12

I wish I could have dreamt last night. Just kept waking all achey and bothered by baby's position. Poor poor me... DD woke in a fuss as well because I didn't have HER shows on the tv. God forbid I get to watch any news at the start of a new day.

Not much planned for the day here. Can't say that troubles me.

OP posts:
miamla · 05/06/2008 13:46

afternoon all
i'm officially working from home this afternoon but as they don't know that i'm back from my physio's appt yet, i'm so tempted to have a nap!
if anyone is having back/leg pains i strongly recommend you get a referral (through your midwife) to see an antenatal physio. she told me what my pain was like! turns out she's had v similar issues to me in the past so knew exactly how i'd be feeling now! i'm now strapped up with a tubey grip corset and a maternity belt... sexy just doesn't do it all justice!

ooh and exciting news, we've got a new table and chairs! well, when i say new i mean new to us, its actually about 150years old and has been in my family since it was new, how cool is that! its oak and in a pretty bad state but with a bit of elbow grease,a sheet or two of sandpaper and some love i'm planning on restoring it once i'm off on maternity leave (3 weeks and 1 day and 3 hours, not that i'm counting!). history behind it is that my granddad died last november (the day after Pip was conceived, which in a way really helped make sense of him dying but that's another story) and we're clearing his house at the moment and found this table. apparently my great grandma inherited from her family when she got married. hmm i'll have to try and remember to take some before and after photos

i've been having peculiar dreams as well! my brother's headmaster had been in an accident so was on a stretcher and there were various old friends of mine from infants school near him, also injured. very peculiar!
i've lost my cold now (thank you to whoever claimed it!) but i really didn't want to swap it for leg cramps through the night. would anyone like to swap these for something?

i'm off to have a look at nursing covers now, i was planning on just sewing a big tube together! i think maybe the idea in my head would work better than in practice but i'm going to give it a go!

TS i can't believe you've got more baby shopping to do! thought you'd already bought everything you needed!

TwilightSurfer · 05/06/2008 13:56

Miamla, my baby shopping list is now down to wants only. So if I don't wind up getting them there's no worry. Basically I'm just feeling the boring gap between now and the big day. If the baby arrived today she'd be perfectly happy (and I would too) with all we've collected for her thus far.

Is anyone having moments of ickyness...sort of queasy, maybe a little dizzy or maybe just a little hungry, feelings? I can't put my finger on the sensation or what's causing it [other than the obvious...I'M PREGNANT] so I can't figure out how to fix it.

OP posts:
miamla · 05/06/2008 14:39

ah ha, i see! i've got a list like that too!

Pip seems to have hiccups every day now! poor little thing must be fed up of them. i used to get them loads myself until i was early teens so i guess he's inherited that from me. the PIL were both around at the weekend when he got them so it was a good opportunity for them to have a feel of the bump. is anyone else's LO getting hiccups?

TS, i was feeling a bit strange yesterday but i put it down to overheating (air con at work decided to cook us instead of cool us!)
Perhaps you could try eating and drinking some water, it can only help

TwilightSurfer · 05/06/2008 15:39

Hiccups here too. LO has them about once a day. DH got to feel them last night for the first time.

Well I ate some granola with peanut butter and drank an extra large water. I do feel better. I guess my blood sugar is just getting low. Baby must be requiring more from me....{{{sigh}}}.

It's going to be a hot one here today. Last night walking outside was like being in a luke warm bath. ICK! I've spent most of the morning outside rocking on my front porch. It's only 10:30am and I'm already in search of my bathing suit for some heat relief. AND THIS IS ONLY THE FIRST WEEK OF JUNE!!!!!!!!!

OP posts:
cyteen · 05/06/2008 15:59

TS I've been having some funny moments lately too, feeling faint and a bit breathless. Yesterday I felt as though I might actually faint and had to lie down (inevitably falling asleep almost instantly). They seem to happen most after eating, so perhaps it's due to everything being squashed up in there and having less room for foodstuffs.

Have been reading this thread and laughing a lot at you all, but sooooo mindblank I'm not even going to try and attempt a catch-up Been at work today, in an interesting but fairly intensive meeting, so I decided to liven up DP's day by sending him a sneaky cameraphone picture of my cleavage

Baby has been well laidback today...a lazy day for him, it seems, with just the occasional wriggle to show me he's there. Am planning a lazy night myself - making pizza for tea and following it up with vats of Haagen Daaz.

VintageGardenia · 05/06/2008 16:19

Oooh cyteen your DH may be so impressed by your cleavage that you have to just let the pizza burn later! No wonder we have all these Benny Hill antics if you lot are going to behave like such tarts!

TS sorry you've not been sleeping again. You do seem to be having a most uncomfortable time of this pregnancy. The heat there must be difficult. Thank goodness it's cool and raining here today, makes it easier to operate and keeps me at my desk!

lwfh did you decide on your swimsuit? Isn't the feeling of swimming while preg the best ever? Sooo relaxing and light.

miamla I am loving the sound of your table! How gorgeous, do pics pls and explain chairs too, I am imagining fabulous, sturdy oaken ones.

I am FURIOUS and not speaking to one of the dogs (the one who broke her leg), she has eaten a hole in a pretty new and very expensive hand tufted LARGE rug which was our lovely luxury purchase when we moved into the new house and is now just a mess. GRRRRRRRrrrrr. And natch, the dog has not even notice my huff.

Quiet baby here today too.

Buckets · 05/06/2008 16:23

Ooh I'm excited about your table Miamla! My sis has had old oak furniture stripped before and it's been unrecognisable, you wouldn't believe this black-looking cupboard could end up so light and pretty. We rescued a couple of Victorian bits from the abandoned cottage at the bottom of DH's GPs garden (I know! I'm desperate to explore more but the structure is lethal now.) My dad did them up beautifully for us bless him.

I'm still boneweary despite a nap, my legs have just been like jelly all week, really hoping it's this bug not a new pregnancy phase. Thank goodness this baby will be out before 40wks.

TwilightSurfer · 05/06/2008 17:33

VG you are right on target...this pregnancy has been a joy a pain from day one! I bit my tongue yesterday when Hazie said she was loving her pregnancy. Makes me wonder what she's been smoking. DD1s term in my belly wasn't much better BUT I was working 70 hour weeks so I had no time to notice or complain. DH reminds me of that almost daily.

Have just returned from the local video store with some nice movies to watch INSIDE in the COOL AIR. Only it seems the lady failed to unlock the boxes on DDs selections. How do you explain to a 4 year old that she can't watch her Barbie movies because the idiot counterclerk forgot. Thankfully the Fox & the Hound box isn't locked so I'm covered for a least an hour.

What's the reaction to the SEX & the CITY movie? I might sneak out tonight and catch it. Alone in a dark theatre will snacks.....it almost sounds dreamy.

OP posts:
miamla · 05/06/2008 17:35

hmm i daresay the chairs were sturdy once upon a time but they're a little bit rickety now! my uncle who lives round the corner is a dab hand at carpentary so i suspect i'll be calling on him for advice!
the table is a square with two leaves that kind of slip under the top bit to make it into a long rectangle. its hard to describe how it works with the leaves because there's no hinges or anything, the weight of the middle section keeps the end bits out. deary me, i'm really not explaining it very well! i'll try and get some photos later!
as for the chairs, no arms (there did probably use to be carvers but they were no where to be seen, i was surprised enough to find four matching ones!) and they've all got three 2" wide slates to make the back rest and a horizontal slate across the top. Ok, so i can't describe chairs either! all of the seat pads are different at the moment (made it even more fun searching round my gp's house to find them!) but they won't take much to look beautiful again. Looks like an excuse to go fabric shopping to me!

buckets wow! it sounds like the cottage could contain more amazing bits! you're a stronger woman than i am for resisting the urge to explore!
my legs feel funny as well, be warned buckets, mine started feeling funny yesterday and last night i had the worst leg cramps

VG i'm sure your poor dog didn't mean to upset you. i'll bet she still loves you even if you continue to ignore her for the rest of the week! dogs are rather simple like that. has her leg completely healed now?
