Another vote for Bravodo bras, am in the biggest size and they are really comfy.

spongebrainbigpants · 09/06/2008 10:58

Morning all, haven't got time to catch up with posts cos off for lunch with our ever-dwindling NCT crowd (2 down, 5 to go!).

Re: swaddling, our NCT teacher was a bit ambivalent about it cos of the over-heating thing, and I suppose that's even more of an issue in this weather. Medics esp concerned about swaddling over the head cos of course that's where babies lose the heat from.

But I'm no expert so don't know why they'd ban it completely.

PiggyPenguin · 09/06/2008 11:06

Good luck EW, hope to hear from you soon. I have just worked out that there are 24 people ahead of me on the list. Actually feel really depressed about that now, especially as dh has started ringing me to ask if I'm in labour yet cos he wants his two weeks off work.

PregnantPenguin · 09/06/2008 11:28

Good news - completion date on house has been moved to next Monday!!!

Bad news, this will cost us at least an extra £500, possibly more.

DH not helping, he is getting emails and calls about this because I'm at home and all he does is phone me up every 5 mins and ask "what should we do"? It's the "we" bit that gets me, he actually asking me to take all responsibility for this, which I don't think is very fair. Not very sensible either bearing in mind that I am lead purely by emotions and hormones right now as well as being in lots and lots of pain! RAH! Sorry for the rant ladies...

I don't know what I want now! Would it be better for baby to come late now (due Thursday) or come now so that we've had at least a few days to get used to him before moving!

I'm a confused, muddled and generally frustrated PP today (much like any other day then). I want someone to just sort it all out for me (even if it costs more) and to tell me it'll all be ok...

Amberc · 09/06/2008 11:30

Sybilvimes my other half was really annoyed I didn't go into labour the minute the sweep was finished yesterday as he wants his time off too (mostly to watch football). A couple of hours after I'd had it he said 'I guess that hasn't worked then, I suppose i'll have to go to work tomorrow'. Felt like I should apologise for being so inconsiderate!!

Excited about EW!

I wonder how much ingesting you need to do before it has an effect - probably a lot I would say - about half a pint (bleugh!!!!) I'd rather wait. Have not mentioned this to other half. He keeps telling me his balls are the size of melons which I keep ignoring! (TMI sorry!!)

dylansmumplusone · 09/06/2008 11:33

amberc LMAO!!! sounds like something dh would say re - ahem - frustration! very funny.

he also said (after sweep yest when they said cervix still closed) - i guess you're going to make me go to work tomorrow then...

Essie3 · 09/06/2008 11:45

Penguin - here I am! Glad to be missed, although that I wasn't missing because I was having a baby. Au contraire - I don't even feel pregnant today! I really wanted a baby this weekend!
It's really hard for you, though - I wouldn't know what to do (or want!) in that situation. I was going to suggest a longer stay in hospital - although you're giving birth in Georges, I gather?

DH moved in with me for an entire month on Friday! It's rather strange - I'm kind of used to my own company.

Can't begin to catch up with everything that's happened here, but Josey you're in our prayers and you're coping marvellously. And contratulations to all the other people with brand new babies. I want it to be me now!

Amberc · 09/06/2008 11:46

Men eh?!

systemsaddict · 09/06/2008 11:54

My dp suddenly realised this weekend that come what may, he will get 2 weeks off while Euro 2008 is on at some point, this cheered him up! However, having gone so far past due date, he has obviously gone back into denial about us having another baby. While I was wobbling around this morning and we were all late for his work (it is still easier for me to drive everyone up there - complicated scenario but it's normally OK), he said it was fine today but on Thursday he will be the only one there till 11 so needs to get there on the dot of 9. Erm ... not such great planning there - considering he is the manager and puts the rotas together, I feel he should have taken the likelihood of sudden nocturnal events at EDD+12 into account!!

Amberc · 09/06/2008 11:59

systemsaddict - have you got an induction date?

systemsaddict · 09/06/2008 12:04

I'm seeing the dr. on Weds amber, but planning to refuse an induction and go for monitoring instead - had a bad experience last time and don't want to be induced again unless absolutely necessary. So I could be here a while yet!

Amberc · 09/06/2008 12:14

Is induction usually bad then? My MW said she might induce me at 40+5 due to baby size

systemsaddict · 09/06/2008 12:26

It varies enormously Amber so don't panic! Some people have easy inductions, for others it takes a long time. I think a lot of it depends on the readiness of your cervix when it starts (so you should be fine ). Mine was not ready at all last time and it took a very long time between start and delivery. And ultimately, if there is a clinical reason for it like concern about baby's size or condition, then I would have it again without thinking twice; I'm just not prepared to do it only for dates if everything else is fine.

Just brought my organic box in and there was a pineapple in it! every little helps!!

alipalli · 09/06/2008 13:06

Just thought I ought to post in case you started to think that I was in the process of hatching. Needless to say I'm not. DH has a day off work today, so he has been amusing me instead. He did just say that if the weather had been bad today he would have gone to work regardless of my need for entertainment

Rang MIL to let her know that still no progress. She was induced with DH, and she went on at me about how marvellous induction was for her because she had a fixed date to work towards. Not so helpful because I don't have a fixed date for induction, there is just the threat of it sometime next week. I think I am with SA on not wanting to be induced purely on the basis of dates, but I would be induced in a shot if the baby looked like it needed to come out. I will have to wait for MW appoint on Thursday when I will get a sweep. In fact it will be my first internal exam at 41+5, which sounds much later than many of you. Hope that this is not leaving it too late?

I was watching last week's Kistie and Phil this morning and found myself welling up at a couple's chubby 4 month old baby because I was wondering when I was going to have my own to hold. I've not been that emotional recently, so this took me by surprise. Other than that, feeling pretty good. The sunshine definitely helps.

Amberc · 09/06/2008 13:14

Just had a major Oh My God moment. I think whatever mucous plug I had left is now gone TMI but there was so much of it it made me go weak to look at it. That MUST be a good sign surely? I'm not normally squeamish...

pleasechange · 09/06/2008 13:16

Hi all- and congrats to those of you who have hatched in the last few days!! Commiserations to those of you who were hoping to pop over the weekend and haven't!! As a couple of you said, at least you can enjoy the sun in the fresh air instead of in the hospital - there has to be an upside to everything!

I had the most amazing dream last night - I was in bad with Ronaldo, very graphic!! I don't know what is happening to my hormones, last week it was Keifer Sutherland!! I'm not complaining, but it's very disappointing to wake up!

poppy34 · 09/06/2008 13:16

allipalli you're right re sunshine helping.. sitting here getting periodic bh contractions knowing that probably still weeks away so feeling v. sorry for myself . on plus side I am sort of enjoying not leaving house.

LauraT · 09/06/2008 13:24

Hi all,

Have had a productive morning, but have suddenly crashed and burned and flopped on sofa!

Baby is having a good old squirm, think it enjoyed the chocolate hobnobs that I ate (purely for energy you understand!)

AH thanks for tips, will make sure I pack a book! Don't expect updates from hospital from me when I get there btw, the Queen Mum's doesn't have patient line, and I don't understand mobile internet [luddite emoticon]

those of you who are over your dates now much sympathy coming your way... not long now though... surely!

pleasechange · 09/06/2008 13:37

Laura - haha, definitely Cristiano!!

Upsidedowncake · 09/06/2008 16:09

Hope everyone's doing well. Are there really no posts since 13.37? What happened to the busiest thread on mument.

F**king St George's hospital. I have now done three urine samples and not a single one has worked. The last one because my name was illegible on the urine pot - why did they wait a week before telling me? I am so cross! At least the GP gave me antibiotics anyway, but it would be nice to know that it was all OK.

Essie3 · 09/06/2008 16:21

UDC Amazed at how quiet it's been! Didn't realise you were also a Georges girl - penguin is too, and I could have been but I've opted out (north Wales, not private healthcare ). I've had to take samples in there personally myself in the past - very bizarre, had to take them to some abandoned fridge somewhere in the back end of the hospital.

MW just called to tell me to stop taking my iron tablets right away (already had, they were making me constipated) and to stop taking the pregnancy multivit with iron as well. Now concerned as to the effect my massively ironed-up blood could be having!

Upsidedowncake · 09/06/2008 16:35

No, no, I'm out of area at Kingston as I really didn't want to do George's. They were great when I had my ectopic, but I didn't want to go back again.

PregnantPenguin · 09/06/2008 16:36

UDC - I thought my PC had frozen.

I have had so many problems with St G's too! The simple things such as a urine test do seem to baffle them completely. In my case, they failed to register me, get my booking bloods right (I had to re-do mine at 32 weeks because they had mixed me up with another, non pregnant, patient) or know why they had set up appointments for me with consultants.

However i am assured that they are fantastic when you are in labour, just try not to be there too long after. I could go on and on about them, but will stop now.

Glad your GP was able to give you antibiotics anyway.

Just checked and seen that you're due 10 days after me - perhaps I'll meet you in the labour ward!

ktpie · 09/06/2008 16:38

It's way too hot here, was concerned my magnums and ice lollies were going to melt on the way back from Tescos!

Essie - can you have too much iron in your blood? Surely it only has a certain capacity to carry iron then any excess would just pass through you.

PP - Good luck with sorting out the house move.

Wonder if everyone is off having babies, or just enjoying the sun.
