Due Sept '08 - Counting Down Rather than Up Now!

Thought I'd do this and post my last comments:

Hi all. Glad to hear more good scan news!

We had MIL visit this weekend and she is such hard work. She literally never lifted a finger and kept going back to bed every couple of hours. I've asked DP not to let her come again for a while as it's hard work waiting on someone.

We also finally put DS in his 'big boy bed'. Went quite well - he went to bed no problems, but he woke up at 2am crying as he'd got stuck under the duvet. He was then awake for a couple of hours so I'm feeling shattered today. Anyone of you with older children got any tips?

Slinkie we'll be near each other for mat leave won't we? We can have some fun together I'm sure.

Meglet I'm the same as you with the whole bf thing. I hated it last time and was relieved when I gave up. I keep veering to and fro with regards to trying it for this baby. I had such a happy time last time round, really enjoyed the whole experience, and am worried that attempting to bf will make the whole thing fraught.

Ooh, there is a due in Feb 09 thread! I love it when new threads appear on this board, makes me feel v pregnant.

eandz · 27/05/2008 10:38

i want the list of our due dates up...i'll go look for it.

eandz · 27/05/2008 10:55

can't find the list. i'm bad with searching

mustsleep · 27/05/2008 11:04

thanks for the weight in stones.... hmm that pod thing may be worth a look at!! they have a video demo of how it fits on etc on the kiddicare website

eandz you need to take the seat of the cameleon to fold it too - if you end up getting the frog you won't need to get a cameleon too as they are practically more or less the same but you could get the bee then you've got a nice walking pram and a smaller public transport one omg i have to stop looking at prams!!

we are completing on our new mortgage tomorrow so that's a huge weight off our minds and the monthly bills should now be affordable at least!! we still cannot decide though in sept when my mum and dad give us the 10K whether to have a conservatory or to have a loft conversion done

we have a two bed at the mo with two kids already bump will make it three and ds is 7 this year so the bedroom thing will be becoming an issue soonish but we cannot afford anywhere bigger - these are our options opinions please...

we could do a loft conversion but as our house is a semi and the roof slopes on three sides it would be very small with reallyjust room for a bed
we could split the bedrooms and instead of having two good sized rooms have two small rooms and one tiny room
or have a conservatory done and therefore have more room downstairs and hope that we come into some cash before the bedroom thing is an issue or that we can get a further advance to do a loft with a dormer in the future

help!

also does anyone know how much patio doors are if you are having them where you already have a window?

hopefully · 27/05/2008 11:06

eandz since I'm bored at work really nice, I've found both the dates list and the gender list, hope they're the most recent ones.
Anyone who wants to update DC's age/sex of new baby or anything, feel free! Notcitrus, feel free to copy and paste the lists and add yourself where appropriate.

Hi all - hope everyone had a good bank holiday weekend.

Mine was a little strange. Saturday we spent at home - gardening mainly as the weather was OK.

Then Sunday we went up to Hampstead Heath as there was a sort of ceremony for a friend of ours who was killed in a road accident recently. Was unusual but seemed fitting.

Yesterday we'd planned to have a BBQ but the weather was so bad we couldn't so a friend came over for fish burritos (yummy yummy).

Am only in the office for three days this week as we have our 4d scan on Friday and then off on our holiday on Sat. Am really pleased as am so tired, especially so today as stupid car alarm (not ours) woke me up at 4am and I couldn't get back to sleep.

The whole DS bed thing is going really well. The last two nights I've popped in DS has been sleeping with his head properly on the pillow and the cover pulled up, so he's hopefully getting the hang of it. Have no problems getting him off either - he seems to really love his new bed.

On the stuff front my Amby Natures Nest has been despatched today. Am really looking forward to getting it, although I doubt we'll put it up yet as we want to decorate our bedroom before Baloo arrives. We were just going to put the Stokke up in our room, but it's a smaller room than the one we had when DS was born, so we were worried about it fitting it. The Natures Nest seems fairly compact and has been recommended, so fingers crossed it does it's job getting Baloo back to sleep when she wakes up.

I still need to get DS's baby stuff down from the loft and sort through it. Spare room/nursery is such a box room I'm loath to do it until we clear it out (another job that needs doing) but am also really excited to look through the stuff and work out what else we need.

Morning all - hope you all had a great bank holiday weekend. Ours was utterly exhausting but fantastic

Began with our scan on Friday morning - the sonographer was wonderful and talked us through everything in detail. Didn't find out the sex (out of choice) but it was so amazing to be able to see the 2 halves of the brain, 4 chambers of heart, little fists in front of the face and cute little snub nose. All the measurements were bang in the middle of normal range which I was delighted about but dh was stupidly a bit disappointed we'd be having an 'average' baby! I asked him whether he'd prefer one with a tiny brain and a huge belly!

Then we picked up the keys to our new house Fortunately both sets of parents came round on Saturday to help, they were a godsend. By then I was so exhausted I could do nothing but direct from the sofa with my feet up . As of yesterday afternoon we are completely sorted... and I LOVE it - can't stop walking from room to room to admire it! It feels so good to finally be in our own place, and I can feel the nesting urge coming strongly - time to start the baby shopping methinks!

I really like the look of the sleeping nest to have in your bed... love the idea of cosleeping but we'd be very nervous about it so this seems to solve that problem. God I have got so much to buy...

LittleConnie · 27/05/2008 12:06

Oh I can't remember who it was who was having trouble sleeping, but I've also been suffering from v sore hips at night. I found that a pillow under my hip and another between my legs works wonders.

eandz · 27/05/2008 12:10

i've been using a pillow i bought on ebay called the dream geni...i don't use it every night since i get too hot, but the nights i do use it i have good quality sleep...just wake up extra extra hot. i hate being hot!!

does having air conditioning on where the baby sleeps increase the risk of sids/cot death?

jennylindinha · 27/05/2008 12:11

Morning all, hope you had good weekends! Mine was spent very enjoyably seeing friends and their little 5 month old daughter (SO cuddly!) on Saturday, but then it deteriorated along with the weather and involved lots of DIY. Cannot wait to get the blimmin kitchen sorted, I have resolved not to clean the 1980's student oven ever again because the new one should be in there by now! It is looking pretty vile at the moment and is probably a health risk so I may consider refusing to cook as well...

No nesting yet for me - we have so much to do in the flat that the last thing on my mind is getting stuff for the poor baby. I did try and linger around the kids section of Ikea yesteray but DP gets mad when I get sidetracked by "things" and he had to drag me off to the warehouse bit! All I have so far are a couple of newborn things that my boss keeps buying for me! If she carries buying on at the same rate I might be able to get a full baby wardrobe out of her

Hello Notcitrus and welcome, I hope things are going well for you.

Pidge good news on the scan and well done not to give in and find out the sex! And congrats to you too LittleConnie. Just one more week til mine, can't wait!

Potxola - ebay is fantastic fun and highly addictive. Just have a go and see how you feel after buying one thing. You need to be aware of high postage costs that people sometimes put, but most people are genuine.

carrieon · 27/05/2008 12:56

Hello everyone and welcome newbies!

Well I'm pleased to report hat the wedding was a huge success! We were totally blessed with the weather which, although windy, was sunny with blue skies. There were no awful bridesmaid politics, dd behaved beautifully (at the wedding and for her grandma who took her home to bed before we sat down for the wedding breakfast) and we met lovely people and had a great time. Dh was over the moon as it was a bbq for the meal, and it was soooo nice (nothing like watching the chef cook your steak in front of you!). The dress fitted, hooray! It hurt by the end of the night as I always get loads bigger in the evening, and the boning in the bodice started to dig into my ribs, and when I got undressed in the evening my strapless bra had left awful red marks round my whole chest from the rubbery bits that hold it up. Even the diamante alice band I had to wear turned out not to be that bad, and although I tripped up on my way into church, I made it up the steps to do my reading in front of everyone without any drama! All in all a huge success, I'm about to put some photos on my profile - I got dh to take one of me front on, and then one side on, you won't believe the difference!!
Thanks for all your good wishes, it really was a brilliant day

lollipopmother · 27/05/2008 13:04

Potxola - If you're ebaying you should also read the advert very carefully, as sometimes people hide some not so good bits in small fonts! If you are buying DVDs always ask if they are genuine or copies, if the price seems too good to be true it normally is!

lollipopmother · 27/05/2008 13:05

EandZ - I work on Baker Street so not too far from Oxford Circus, and may be up for a coffee one day closer to my maternity leave (end of July). At the moment I am just desparate to get home after work, so I don't want to make any arrangements as I'll probably end up letting you down.

slinkiemalinki · 27/05/2008 13:12

Well eandz you may see/hear me in labour if you settled on Chelsea. I'll be the one screeching, sans epidural, fast labour if anything like last time I expect! Can I just ask why you want a Frog instead of a Cameleon? They are very similar but the Cam is just a design upgrade really.
I am expecting to stick with buggy board as my daughter always wants to walk now. We'll see how we get along.
We have been comparing various cars as we are outgrowing our Focus now. I am gratified to see that not all the huge metal monsters we've been looking at are Band G cars. Well, it's making me feel better at least.
Sunshinemummy glad the BBB is going well - we have 3 weeks until the BGB is rolled out in our house. Hopefully DD won't be rolling out (har har).

mamamufin · 27/05/2008 13:27

Hi guys just catching up with your news.
Pot Ive never brought anything of ebay either, but am going to learn what to do.
Its great to hear all the happy scan news .
Carrieon I like your dress a very unusual colour. I cant believe your side profile pic. I am very ious of that bump. Glad it all went smoothly.
I have just finished work for today. I am going to spend the rest of the day being lazy at home. x

Pidge · 27/05/2008 13:49

V quick one from me - am supposed to be spending my day off clearing out our kitchen prior to having it ripped apart and rebuilt!!

LittleConnie - many congrats on the scan - I'd been wondering how you got on. And happy new home.

Jennylindinha - all the best for yours. Are you the last one?

jennylindinha · 27/05/2008 14:00

Pidge - I think so, unless there are any others out there keeping quiet! Please send your kitchen fitters to me once you have done with them. DP wants to do it all himself and it's taking ages!!! Plus we keep changing our minds about everything.

Am a bit nervous about some bloods now too as I've recently found out I've got anti-E antibodies (which I'd never heard of before) and I'm just waiting for some titre results to see what the levels are. Hopefully they will just need to monitor the situation but it is a concern... One more thing to worry about.

digitalgirl · 27/05/2008 14:23

you looked gorgeous carrieon - couldn't tell from the front, but looking pretty well established from the side!

I spent most of yesterday dozing on the sofa, then went to bed at midnight and slept through till 8am.

We have ordered our Vi-Spring bed, am so looking forward to getting it - sleeping on my hips is taking it's toll. I too always end up on my back. Why is this bad again?

We've worked out finances and I can afford a luxurious 6 months off, or a very frugal 8 months off. Seeing as Christmas is smack bang in the middle of that, I'm wondering if 6 months is the most we'll manage.

Felt like baby was standing upright yesterday and dancing on my fanjo...was very strange. Tried all sorts of manouvres to change it's position, but it seems to be happy this way for now. Decided to flex it's ever strengthening kick muscles as I was dropping off last night. Even made DH flinch the boots were so strong. Perhaps yoga tonight will shift it.

Am 23 weeks today, every week that goes by is wonderful.

mamamufin · 27/05/2008 14:24

Jenny Do you mean anti-D antibodies? I have these, but never heard of the E ones . But I suppose there is a F, G and H one too! ....lots to keep us on our toes. x

slinkiemalinki · 27/05/2008 14:33

digitalgirl my folks have a VI spring- best purchase they ever made they say!

Sunshinemummy · 27/05/2008 14:35

Off to hospital now to wee in a bottle. Apparently my sample from last week was inconclusive and, as am going on hols next week (did I mention that yet ) I want to get this sorted if it is an infection.

slinkie and sunshinemummy,
i'll be the quiet one probably crying for my mom. because i'm pathetic...i will also be the one who has a load of spicy tuna rolls delivered to my bedside along with pots of black coffee after i've given birth.

Slinikie,
i want a frog because it's cheaper on ebay than the chameleon...theres no other reason for it...other than i'm on a budget.

feel free to come by for snacks.

carrieon,
beautiful dress!...i'm confused as to what an alice band is.. but your bump looks great
