We are two down and have another 30-40 to go. Makecakes and Gemma have probably popped by now, then G43! It's all happening!!!!!

systemsaddict I have to tell myself men like that don't really exist or else I get too frustrated!! I do know one though and I'm quite of my mate who married him sometimes.

Upsidedowncake · 20/05/2008 10:33

Morning everyone

Thanks for all your comments re positioning! No real tears, just a bit of disappointment. We were definitely at it lots more last time though (and the positioning didn't seem to be a problem!)

Re birth certificates, DS has a USA one which entitles him to free education if we ever move the to the USA, but I don't think that's a problem with the EU. But also remember that a birth certificate can be used as proof of ID and would have to be translated into English if in German.

Aberdeen, enjoy your last day of work.

Gemma, good luck!

Ktpie, sorry about heartburn

Libralady, !!!! your DH. Honestly! I'm so imrpessed with you having cakes already prepared.

Well, we just had the worst night in DS's life. He got up, count them, 23 times ... there were cats in his bedroom, his elbow was itchy, he couldn't find teddy, more cats in his bedroom, needed a poo, it was too dark, too light, etc etc etc. Poor chap is beside himself with itches, although Calamine does seem to be relieving it (have my eye on the ones where scabs have formed, thanks, Libra). He seems to be slightly better this morning, (no temperature), though every 20 minutes, he crawls into my arms and just moans ...

Morning all!

Deb hope appointment goes well today.

UDC sorry to hear about your DS being up all night, hope he's better today.

ERnest sorry your rash is continuing, I'm no doctor (obviously) but I'm sure if there was some kind of pregnancy related type of rash, at least one or two of us would have heard of it via the power of the internet. I know you've not changed products or anything, but I wonder if anything you use is made differently in a different country? Sometimes the same products have different ingredients in different countries due to regulations? Dont really know though, just trying to think of something!

All's well here today - have my last NHS ante-natal class shortly so that'll be fun . Sorry to hear of everyone who is falling out with their DH's - I have to fess up that I am very lucky with mine normally and he's been even sweeter than usual. Bless him.

Have you managed to get your shoes on yet LauraT?

aberdeenhiker · 20/05/2008 10:50

ohh - I'd lost the link to your blog - it's great to find it again! Your poor DS looks so uncomfortable.

And our P&T is still in the box, DH promises he'll set it up when the new one arrives...

emotionalwreck · 20/05/2008 11:01

Regarding all the dh/dp stories - I have been roaring laughing. I had a corker of a row with my dp at the weekend involving 3 things.... a sudden death in the house (a house plant, loving cared for by himself for the last 3 years), why the diageo alcohol adverts always involve just women making idiots of themselves (although since then I've seen one with a bloke in), and the fact that a small patch of mould has appeared in our bedroom. This all culminated with my refusing to sleep in our bed (doh) and him walking out of the house at midnight. Incidentally, leaving me at 37 weeks crying on the sofa, wondering what I would do if I went into labour....

Anyway we made up and everything was great. DP made a real effort to help out over the weekend, taking our DD out to the park or shops on numberous occasions so I could rest. But then he spoilt it all by telling me what a fabulous bloke he'd been by "letting me rest" I give up.

My LO is presently lying transverse and my fundal height is 40 weeks plus. I'll find out a week today if I have polyhydramnios but in the meantime I'm terrified of my waters breaking. Anyone have experience of this? please help emoticon!

Upsidedowncake · 20/05/2008 11:15

Emotionalwreck, I think G43 was diagnosed with polyhydramnios last week but she was being induced yesterday morning at 38 or 39 weeks, I think).

Aberdeen, thanks for kind comments re DS and blog. Ours is a very different style to yours, and I'm sure that your DS will really value yours when he's older, whereas I suspect our DS might be a little embarassed ... (did you have to put the spots on the WWW for everyone to see?!)

DOn't let your DS help with the P&T. DS put the wrong axle into a wheel, and it took a lot of swearing to get it out! I must say that it's very handy for country walks, while DS is too heavy to carry and is feeling too feek and weeble to walk.

Ernest, there are a couple of pregnancy-related rashes and they are described well in Birth and Beyond. I have one on my legs. I hope it gets diagnosed for you soon.

Gemma, glad to see you back. We thought you'd popped!

Laura, ice cream parlour sounds wonderful.

Deb, hope appointment goes wlel

UDC your poor little chap. He certainly has more on his face than my DS had.
Also with the meds he was prescribed it certainly made him sleep through the night. Maybe piriton may help him rest and take away the itching.
Just off to pick DS up from nursery and then take him to the 'baby clinic' for his pre-school jabs. Can't believe my little boy will be starting school in September!
If he's good, maybe a trip to McDnoalds or the such like will be in store as a treat.

makecakesnotwar · 20/05/2008 11:21

aberdeenhiker · 20/05/2008 11:40

makecakes - congrats!!!! yeah! our second birth and third baby on our thread.

systemsaddict · 20/05/2008 11:42

Oooooh how exciting, congratulations makecakes!! sniffling at your lovely pics here. And fabulous name too!!

UDC is that a p&t vibe? Would you recommend it now you actually have it? Trying to decide if it is worth the extra money over a sport, but hard without seeing them in the flesh. Another vote for Piriton (or same stuff under other brand names is often cheaper) for itching here too - ds has eczema and it's great stuff when the itching is bad, esp. at night. V. v. safe too.

Upsidedowncake · 20/05/2008 11:49

Our old pram was a Maclaren techno, which has been fab. We went for a P&T as the double Maclaren would have been unsteerable with DS (12 Kg) and a baby. No chance of keeping DS still on a buggy board either.

Our experience was a bit like driving a new car (or even a whole new kind of vehicle). The front wheel was slightly hard to control over molehills and it's very heavy, compared to the Maclaren. It won't be very easy to take on the tube, for example. Loads of storage.

So, probably an 8 out of 10 for the first outing.

Hoggle · 20/05/2008 11:51

Big congrats MakeCakes, can't wait to hear more! She looks gorgeous, and I did laugh at your dog on the birth ball .

systemsaddict · 20/05/2008 11:57

Hmmm ... heavy puts me off a bit, but then I don't suppose there are many light double buggies out there! I still love our Zapp, because it's so light, but there's no way it can handle 2 kids ... Might take a trip out to a baby superstore once I have had LO and try out some options, if we're all well enough.

debinaustria · 20/05/2008 11:58

Will catch up with eevryone else later, jusat wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS Makecakes and Mr Makecakes and dogmakecakes on the birth of Cecily/CJ. She is absolutely gorgeous and you don't look knackered just very, very happy and protective of your little girl! How is your dog coping with the new arrival - I know you were worried about it.

ktpie · 20/05/2008 12:16

Makecakes - Congratulations! She is gorgeous!
(good luck with catching up with the chat - there is a lot of it!)

Essie3 · 20/05/2008 12:22

Oh, Makecakes - so lovely, and a great name too. Jealous - I want to be on the graduated list (but I won't - probably still here in July...).

It's afternoon and I've been sick all morning. Turn my back for one minute and the sickness returns, grr. Let's hope it's a one off. Finally got out of bed, and I have to do some more work on the paper.

Rolf DH does personal injury insurance and medical negligence etc. Biggest case to date - a botched caeserian. Been keeping that one quiet! What's your DH in the paper for? Sounds exciting! Maybe they know each other.

BTW, girl in the village - I suppose it is feudal and very appropriate given my line of work!!

Lunch and then...maybe some work. We'll see!

PearTart · 20/05/2008 12:52

Makecakes- Congratulations, lovely photos- she's a little peach! and great name too. Can't wait for the gory details.

UDC- also great photo of your DS, hope he's better soon.

SA- we've also just ordered a P&T (Sport in red) (they do do pink camoflage colour but don't think DH would appreciate that!)
We looked at the Vibe too but was distinctly underwhelmed and on a side-by-side comparison went for the Sport. The Vibe seemed more of a faff to adjust for DD's seat and had a metal bar that would prevent her from reclining in it at all- She's 19 months and average height FGS! Other things niggled me about the Vibe- don't think it's worth the hype or expense.

AH what do you need to know about nationality? DH has dual Australian and UK nationality/ passports. He was born in UK to Aussie parents and grew up there (considers himself Aussie). He therefore has both nationalities as does DD and the NB will too. Aussie nationality is considered "by descent". Rules are different from country to country- so don't know if this helps at all!
