We are two down and have another 30-40 to go. Makecakes and Gemma have probably popped by now, then G43! It's all happening!!!!!

katyjo · 19/05/2008 21:43

debs poor you, we are still managing about once a week but there isn't alot of passion there and dh is quite worried about banging the baby on the head! I'm like you peartart I'm sure we were at it more when pregnant with ds, but maybe the energy we used for shagging last time is being used up chasing a 2 year old around!

PP LOL at your conversations with dh, they sound very familiar! I hate how dh insists on shouting from upstairs. My dh keeps saying he'll help by bathing ds, that is as long as I run the bath, undress ds, get towels etc ready and sit in the bathroom with and help get ds out the bath....he sits in bath with ds!

whinegums totally agree with debs about the hospital, really wouldn't have given a crap where I was as long as I had my gas and air! It is a nicer idea to have the baby somewhere that looks fantastic, but at the end of the day its the care you receive which is important.

udc I'm 39 weeks on thursday, so I guess pre-labour is probably what i'm experiencing, just willing it to be more I think!

PearTart · 19/05/2008 21:49

UDC LOL at your positioning problems- there's not really that much choice...

Josey I'm glad that my DD is not as articulate as yours yet. I think she'd tell me I'm being an awful grump if she were able.

Ernest have you changed washing powder or started wearing over-bump trousers?

Whinegums did your hosp have low-risk rooms? We had one such and it was great- no nasty metal hosp bed just huge squashy mattress. And ward had a big cupboard full of foam wedges, mats, balls and things to make birth more comfy. And we turned the lights down low.

PP LOL at use of "Darling". My DH knows the word really means "and listen carefully, this is important"

Alipalli If the full moon is anything to go by I've put myself down for the next one: 18th June, and another month of lugging this belly around...

PearTart · 19/05/2008 21:51

Great excuse Katyjo, mind if I nick it?!

PregnantPenguin · 19/05/2008 22:03

Peartart - Love you definition of "darling", so true! DH has apologised if he was annoying me and been really sweet so I have melted and said sorry for being a stroppy cow too! I really feel like I'm on a rollercoaster every day, usually start well and happy, go downhill with tiredness and grumpiness until about 7/8pm, then ok again....

Off to bed now, hope everyone sleeps well with minimum toilet breaks needed!

alipalli · 19/05/2008 22:07

Debs hadn't thought that the cleaner might have got confused. She is through an agency though so should not make any difference. Will call her in the morning to see what the score is. She has a very strong accent so it can be hard for us to understand each other, especially on the phone.

We will have to wait and see what the fullmoon brings. Can't see that anything dramatic will happen here. I am still getting the odd twinge that has been going on for about 3 weeks now. I put it down the LO's head engaging a little further.

Hope you all sleep well.

Rolf · 20/05/2008 02:20

lol at PearTart being like a harpooned whale

And lol at katyjo's DH "helping" with bathtime. My DH is a bit like that - expects to be treated like a v young babysitter who is there as a favour...

Our MLU has the medical gubbins hidden behind a picture - you press a button and the picture slides up, revealing the G&A gear etc. It's very Austen Powers.

I have my consultant appointment today. There was a cock-up at the surgery about the full blood counr and it hasn't been done. It might work out well for me actualy, as if we have to rely on my 28 week bloods my Hb isn't too bad. But if the consultant wants to repeat the fbc it will mean more delay, more boring hospital appointments and probably a lower Hb. What's a bit more worrying is that whilst they have the results of the liver function test, the GP hasn't looked at it so I don't know if it's normal. The receptionist had the result on the computer, and my midwife was standing next to her and she wouldn't let the mw see it until the GP had. Nice to know procedure overrides patient safety

Up yet again for (second) loo break but I have really bad heartburn and gross eggy burps.

debinaustria · 20/05/2008 06:20

Morning all, sorry to see you up in the night again Rolf - I was up twice but last night managed to get back to sleep again thankfully.

I'm off for an appointment at the hospital this morning, not sure if I see a Midwife or Gynae, think I get another scan so will see baby for the last time before he's born!!Also hoping to get to see the labour rooms etc whilst we're there.Feeling a bit nervous.

PearTart · 20/05/2008 06:48

Morning!

Rolf how annoying re: blood, hope you don't need more tests- is there a reason for extra (28 wk) bloods, or have I just forgotten how much they take? I feel like every drop is precious and don't want to give any up at this stage- need all the iron I can get.

I have an image now of 1960's shagtastic MLU, with psychaedelic mini-clad MW's and bubble- machines... That beats my MLU!

Hi Deb hope apt is good.

xxgemmalou22xx · 20/05/2008 06:59

hi peopleeee sorry i aint been on i have been busy preparing! News! i have a appointment today to find out if there going to induce me this week probably tomoro or if i have to wait just two more weeks!! I am scareddd and anxious but also veryyyyy excited!

aberdeenhiker · 20/05/2008 08:09

good morning - last day of work for me! It was supposed to be tomorrow so I'd work until the full 38 weeks but I was too tired so I've taken it off as annual leave.

gemma - glad you're back with news. Good luck today.

Fights with our lovely DHs must be catching - we had one last night that's spilled over into this morning. Any other second (or more) timers remember their DH's paying them lots of attention at this point and letting them rest? This time my DH seems to think it's all old hat and is not helping with DS. DS is acting up because he wants more attention from his dad too and DH just seems to be trying to cram in as much guy-time as he can before the new baby arrives... Football game Thursday night, golf all day Friday ... and DS and I are bumbling on by ourselves.

libralady · 20/05/2008 08:43

Gemma, great to see you back. Hope everything goes well for you today.

AH, Dh's can be a pain at times can't they. Their definition of helping is certainly different to ours.

We haven't even started on the nursery yet, it's still a dumping ground, and although the baby will be in with us for a while, I need the changing table and drawer/wardrobes set up so i have somewhere to put his clothes.

Weekends are pretty much ruled out now the cricket season has started as although I did say I would be happy with one game a weekend, it looks like two are going to be the norm, so that rules out doing anything after midday on either day, plus it means I'm still looking after DS in the afternoons with no help.

Now I've been signed off sick this week to rest by the Drs after my holiday dramas, so DH has suggested I empty the suitcases so when he gets home tonight he can out them in the attic and get down anything I need so we can start on the room in the evenings!

By then I am bloody knackered anyway and just want to lie down and veg out. All this so it doesn;t interfere with his bloody cricket.

Oh and I have to prepare the match teas for the games on Sunday, so Sunday morning will be spent making sandwiches, and cakes etc. Luckily I have a few cakes I made a few weeks ago stored in the freezer. But it's the hassle of trying to do that with a lively 4 year old trying to help. You can bet your bottom dollar that DH will find something else to do that is important - probably cut the grass or something so he doesn't have to help.

Oh plus he's decided we're going to have a BBQ at somepoint over the weekend as well, so could I buy some extra food in when I go shopping.

Don't get me wrong I love my DH loads, but he can just infuriate me at times. He did wash up after the breakfast scene this morning and get DS dressed. Just need him to do my ironing now! Ha ha.

aberdeenhiker · 20/05/2008 08:52

libralady - sounds like your DH and mine are pretty similar. The problem is that I'm not good at staying mad at him, so he apologizes and then does the same thing the next weekend/evening! (replace cricket with cycling though).

ktpie · 20/05/2008 08:55

Gemma - good luck at your appointment, exciting that you will either have your baby in the next few days or in two weeks time!

Sympathies for everyone having problems with their DHs, mine has been good so far, didn't even complain too much when I dragged him round Ikea last night!

My heartburn is also back with a vengeance, was awake most of saturday night with it after a lovely meal out, very rich and I did have to top it off with treacle sponge and custard so only myself to blame!

I've got a midwife appointment this afternoon so hopefully that will go well.

whinegums · 20/05/2008 08:57

Morning all, thanks for all the comments about different labour suites/wards/etc. I'm sure as some have said I won't be too bothered at the time, it just really freaked me out yesterday. I've never had to stay in hospital in my life, so it's a new experience (and one I'm not that keen on!).

PearT - there is one ok sort of room, that's the pool room, with a big mattress thing in the corner. Still loads of medical equipment everywhere, no windows and super bright lights. The other rooms are all the same - bed and that's about it!

Anyway, feeling better today - off for a m/w appointment this morning.

Hope everyone else is ok. Libra - cricket doesn't sound much fun, especially with the match teas! Aberdeen - enjoy your last day - mine is Thursday, but I've got a big event and a very long day tomorrow to get through first. Rolf - fingers crossed for your results. Deb - hope your appointment goes well.

Better go!

Parofleurmapu · 20/05/2008 09:04

Morning all!

Good luck with appointments this morning gem , debs and anyone else and good luck to me too! as i have appointments this morning, one is monitoring and other is high blood pressure dr. That should be funny im on bed rest!!! cause BP goes up when only making a cup of tea! so what will happen when i drive 15 miles to hospital and wait for hrs!!!! Itll prob be through the roof!

Oh well speak later fingers crossed LO has turned !!

ErnestTheBavarian · 20/05/2008 09:31

Morning all.

Deb - hope hospital goes OK. I know last Friday when I went in, the reality sort of struck me, and seeing all those hospital beds just pushed me on the verge of a panic attack ! Can't we just skip to mid July, like ?? suggested?
Paro, fingers crossed lo has turned, and hopefully your's'll catch on too, gf xx

I'm made an appointment with a 'skin doctor' today. Honestly, there's a different doctor for every bloody thing. It must be national German doctors holiday week or something, cos I tried 3 other ones and they're all away this week. Rash is a bit worse and the itching is very painful and - well, irchy, but am nw paranoid by the Q asked by the hospital doc & the chemist yesterdaay about if I've been in contact with chicken pox /virus etc. I aw the telling off Essie got, but I'm going to stick my head up and say I'm getting worried and paranoid following these ( I know they had to ask them) Q's and terrified I've caught some nasty virus that is dmaging my baby as we speak. I'm not doing anything different - no new clothes/washing powder/cream. I have no allergies. If someone would just take one look at my belly and say 'ah, yes, itchy red fat belly rash, it'll go in 3 weeks, then that's be OK. Tho I wouldn't be too chuffed at having insane itching and no slepp for next 3 weeks. Hardly ideal birth preparation, is it? But it's the factt hat I don't know what it os or why or anything and not knowing if it's eating away at my little baby. Honestly. This is just the start of a lifetime of worry. Motherhood!

whinegums & Lorettah, sorry you're not too impressed with hospitals. If it helps, this is my 4th, tho 1st time in this hospital, and it still seems pretty daunting. It's just a scary experience, a leap into the unknow, I'm trying not to think too much about it as I nearly had a nervous breakdown when I went in last Friday. Roll on mid July.

Deb - are you going to get a British birth cert for your lo, or just stick with the At one, and get the british passport? We had to get british birth certs for the 2 born in CH (or so we were told...) at great expense, but I phoned the German consulate this am and they said we can get the British passport even with just the German birth cert. So now I'm unsure. But then it would mean this one would be the only one without, not that it nec. matteres. Also not sure if it will casue long-term compications not having British cert, tho the embassy woman thought not. What yous doing?

Rolf · 20/05/2008 09:34

PearTart the 28 week bloods are routine, to test for anaemia. I was borderline anaemic so my consultant wanted to repeat them at 36 weeks. I actually think she's being a bit OTT about it, and I don't feel particularly anaemic. It was an "issue" for me delivering in the MLU so if the cock-up is a way of forgetting about it that's fine with me! I'm cross with them about the liver function tests though - often you wait in hospital for the results as it is considered to be a potentailly serious problem. To wait 8 days is unacceptable, especially when the results are sitting there.

Good luck to everyone with appointments today. Hope they all go well. My friend had a successful ecv yesterday - extra luck to those with breach babies!

sophiewd · 20/05/2008 09:38

Hello and I had a lie in - unheard of, last nights guests had to go at about 10 last night as her father was rushed to hospital, so no breakfast, DH took DD to nursery (he always does anyway) made me a bacon sandwich and is now cleaning a room for tonight. Sorry but he is being a fab DH.

Gemma good luck with jopsital appointment.

aberdeenhiker · 20/05/2008 09:55

Ernest - a friend of mine had a weird skin rash at the end of her first pregnancy that they thought was pregnancy related but didn't really know why she had it. she was so itchy they induced her at 39 weeks and it went away instantly.

As for birth certificates, my DS has his british one and a Canadian citizenship card, which just says he's Canadian so he can get a Canadian passport. Does Britain have the same sort of thing?

sophiewd · 20/05/2008 10:03

Regarding British passports, as long as you were born in Britain and are British then your child can get a British passport. It only becomes a problem when you werre not born in Britain. My cousin was born in India, her eldest was born in England and second in South Africa, can't move back here because her second can't get a full British Passport.

ErnestTheBavarian · 20/05/2008 10:06

I know the passport is no problem. It's just when we lived in CH we had to apply also for a british birth cert, I guess cos not eu. Now in Germany, we apparently don't need a british birth cert, we can just use the German one to still get teh British passport. Not entitled to German one or anything, not bothered about that. I was just wondering about getting the british cert anyway, as the other 3 kids have british one, dunno if it will have any importance at all, just seems a abit weird 1 child not having british cert, so just wondering what others doing. I know no prob getting brit pass, just toying with getting brit bc, even tho apparently unnec. Just so all 4 have a british one.

aberdeenhiker · 20/05/2008 10:07

sophiewd - Her second should have right of abode though at a minimum. I know they've changed the rules lately but if you have a grandparent born in Britain and are a commonwealth citizen I think you are allowed to live here etc. and can then apply for citizenship after a few years.

ErnestTheBavarian · 20/05/2008 10:07

Mind you, our cat is the only one to have a Swiss passport.

systemsaddict · 20/05/2008 10:27

V impressed at all these regular shaggers, but also reassured that we are not the only ones not at it! And chuckling at all the DH stories. My dp 'helps' with getting ds ready for bed every night. This involves doing lots of silly dances and physical comedy routines to distract him while he's getting changed / creamed / dressed - of course I do all that practical stuff, while he provides the entertainment! I used to get pissed off about it but now think, well, it does make it easier to have him entertained, and it's not like I have the energy for silly dances at that time of day. Though at times I do dream (literally - have had frequent dreams of this kind recently) of having a man who would just say 'you're tired love, go and have a rest and I'll sort everything out for you, don't worry about a thing ...'

dylansmumplusone · 20/05/2008 10:29

Argh I'm sooooo tired of being pregnant. I'm just so sore, so tired, so fat, so blech! I can't stand to look at myself in the mirror I just look rode hard and put away wet.

Okay, I just needed to get that out I think.

I hate cricket (sorry to any cricket fans). At least football is just on for a few hours a couple times a week - cricket starts and dh becomes a figment of my imagination. He's here, but he's not really here, every night for highlights and all weekend. It's a nightmare. The thing that irritates me most is if I try to say something to him and he shushes me! For bloomin' cricket!!

Sorry I'm having a cranky morning I think.

hope your rash clears up ernest, it sounds like torture. Pregnancy sure does do strange things to the body sometimes though, hopefully that's all it is.
