April 08 - Summer sun and LO's!!

Carey87 · 06/05/2008 11:16

I third! I hated my DP SIL for weeks (even though I knew she would have hers before me, 6 weeks in total) and I would pretty much cry everytime there was a birth announcement on here, even though I wasnt even due!

And I can guarantee that I will still be sitting in hospital on Friday without a LO! Little bugger does not want to come out, feel like such a failure for not being able to did it au naturale, but I now just keep concentrating on the fact that it will be here soon.

However, if one one person says to me 'it will come when its ready' I will fish slap them!

Well done BBM

moominsmummy · 07/05/2008 17:25

still here - ramping up the TENS machine and bouncing on the birthing ball during contractions - (as well as swearing through themquietly so DS doesn't hear)

DH gone for a lie down which is fine with me as rather have him feeling rested for later - so have some hope of him coming with me to hospital.

DS really tired out so good prospect of early night for him which would make things easier all round (not so good for grandma when he gets up at 5.30am though - lol!)

congrats BBM - no idea how you did the "no pain relief" bit - can I borrow some of your natural endorphins please? they must be good!

moominsmummy · 07/05/2008 18:16

you'll think I'm mad for asking this....

contractions are v strong and painful, lasting 1m20s or more but not regular (between 4 mins and 15 mins). the thing is....it's dinner time and I was planning on treating myself to a takeaway curry this evening. Should I still go ahead? or will I severely regret it?

thanks turniphead - was going for fairly mild curry anyway - just worried about it coming back up again - and all the labour books say to have a light snack - but I'm hungry!!!

PortAndLemon · 07/05/2008 18:39

I would have thrown up by now (always throw up repeatedly in early labour) so not the best person to ask. But assuming you're going to eat something, no reason it can't be curry. But order it quickly -- things could speed up at any time (we've had some very quick second/third/fourth births on this group already).

VictorianSqualor · 07/05/2008 18:45

Curry is only an issue if it's hotter than what you would normally eat, therefore your body/indigestion system can't cope with it and gives you sickness.

Sagitta, yes I am doing my doula training, finally kicked my butt into action to decide what to do, dont start it til nov but even then it's only a short course so will hopefully be doulaing by early next year!

Maybe I should keep a look out for a due feb thread and offer my support.

scorpio1 · 07/05/2008 19:10

Hi

Thrush is clearing up all ready. Millie's drops are luminous and stink of cherries, lol! I also have cream for nipples.

Millie had her hearing test today, all fine. Also millie ws weighed yesterday and put on 9oz in 8 days so my milk really does work!

VS - hope your boobs are ok and that you dont hurt too much.

scorpio1 · 07/05/2008 19:11

oh and ladylush - hi sorry i dont knoiw devon well, tends to be a place i drive through, lol!

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 07/05/2008 20:05

moomins, they never went regular, so all through dilation and delivery!

&eva* sends luck to moomin, and hugs to sagitta. she'll be back Friday.

bigbadmom congrats - shares a birthday with my evil sister. hope you dont believe in horoscopes pmsl!

have been 100% off dairy for 24 hours on tiktoks advice abd Bas seems so much better! nappies a different colour, more settled, lets just hope it helps th weight gain. sadly it means he probably has the asd gene, but that doesn't mean its triggered in him. and if it is.... well that's who he is.

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 07/05/2008 20:09

ladylush dh says its lovely there, with all of exmoor (in fact he's suggested it for my birthday lol)- go for it.

Mollyfloss · 07/05/2008 21:23

Good luck to the ladies in labour or about to go in to labour. I should have ate more in early labour. I was starving later but was discouraged from eating. I threw up anyway straight after giving birth.

What does everyone think of using a dummy? Haven't used one yet but LO is getting quite upset in the evening (could be evening colic although she is only 3 months old) and was thinking of using one in a 'controlled fashion' if that's possible... Any thoughts?

VictorianSqualor · 07/05/2008 21:31

Molly, we did dummy talk on the last thread if you want to find it, I think everyone except peachy is using one!

PortAndLemon · 07/05/2008 21:38

We're not, partly because DS would never take one so I haven't even tried this time. Now DD is 5-6 weeks I may give it a go, though.

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 08/05/2008 08:35

moomins had james andrewat 9.32. weight 8lb 13oz

moominsmummy · 08/05/2008 08:38

ooo peachy you just beat me to it!!

gorgeous james born within 40 mins of getting to the hospital - no time for the curry or the birthing pool! just TENS and a bit of gas and air - just a small tear, no stitches. we were home by 1.30am.

love him to pieces but definitely never having another!

ladylush · 08/05/2008 08:40

Thanks v much Peachy. Think we will go for it

scorpio1 · 08/05/2008 09:37

congrats moomins

We are using a dummy, she doesnt seem to get confused (crosses fingers toes and eyes) it helps her settle well.

i am such a dummy - i have split the majority of her medicine over my carpet..luckily docs are doing me another today, i have enough left to last the day today. luminous yellow carpet anyone?!?

Peachy - hoping bas settles well for you still.

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 08/05/2008 09:43

he settles fab at night and is on hourly feeds in an attempt to raise weight so no time for a dummy lol (or rather, I am his dummy)

ds1 refers to me as m ilking machine

scorpio1 · 08/05/2008 09:44

well you know what you're doing by now! i hope his weight raises for you, so at least you have a more settled head iyswim.

Denny185 · 08/05/2008 09:57

Congrats moomins, were not having another either DH had his snip on Tues

A word of warnind to any considering BF as a form of contraception - my period has returned and feeding 7-8 times a day. Previously been months without one after baby.

sagitta · 08/05/2008 10:29

Congrats moomins! Welcome James! Glad the curry problem resolved itself - maybe one tonight instead?

And also congrats to bigbadmom, and thanks for the kind words.

Bit concerned that Mollyfloss' LO is already 3 months old. I have been pregnant for even longer than I realised ...

Induction booked for Saturday morning (42+1). MW gave me a half-hearted sweep yesterday, which just pissed me off as I know it won't do anything apart from make me feel crampy. Hey ho. At least I can enjoy my last two days of freedom now...And it gives us time to try to think of a name. Apparently nine months just isn't enough...

Scampmum · 08/05/2008 12:36

Hello all, congrats Moomins and BBM - only two days to go, Sagitta! Very good luck for Sat.

Things are well here, I suspect DD2 is going to be a rerun of DD1 as she gets terrible wind which bothers her all night, puts her off feeding etc. Am thinking of starting Infacol but she just seems so wee. Worried about reflux too (silent, again same as DD1, not a puker at all but won't lie flat) so contemplating an Amby hammock - has anyone tried one? Pretty tired but managed 3 lots of 2 hours last night so I can't really complain! DH still in spare room whilst DD2 and I languish together in our big bed (although he has given up smoking following his Allen Carr workshop last week).

Stitches finally gone and feel physically back to normal apart from pain/bleeding (TMI) on the more substantial visits to the loo (if you get me) - midwife checked and don't have piles so I guess it's just a result of me holding it in for a bit too long in abject fear following stitches . Nipples are fine after MW helped with latch. Still fat but hardly surprising given I can't stop eating .

How is Ellie doing, I wonder?

Big love to you all, sorry to be crap and not respond to everything that's happening. Can't believe how hugely my brain function is impacted by the broken nights - Peachy you are absolutely extraordinary for having got your dissertation in! Mumsnet A+++ for effort!

Right, time to go and get DD1 - I didn't see her this morning as DH took her in, and I really miss her. I'm finding not being able to devote so much time to her really hard and we had a nightmare bedtime last night - tried to read DD1 bedtime story whilst feeding DD2 and apart from the squashing risk DD2 was being fussy and crying - had to read more and more loudly and eventually just kind of bolt, whereupon DD1 starts screaming 'Mummy!', so left DD2 downstairs to go and say goodnight properly, whereupon (of course) DD2 ups her game and screams so loudly I thought she was going to combust (even from upstairs) - had to go back downstairs, get DD2 latched on properly, go upstairs with her stealthily latched on and then sing songs to DD1 until I surmised that she really was now taking the mick and wouldn't cry if I left the room! Luckily they were both quiet by 9 so I could watch the Apprentice - forgot how hard I find it to abide by the 'sleep when they sleep' rule even when I'm holding my eyelids open with matchsticks.

Ooh, that was quite a rant and now I really have to go!

VictorianSqualor · 08/05/2008 12:45
