Sophie- We're having a couple of days on the in laws canal boat, luckily on a stretch of canal with no locks (as that is usually my job!). Looking forward to it, hoping the baby doesn't decide it wants to be born on the boat!

debinaustria · 10/05/2008 11:09

Hope the weather's good for you Ktpie

Have a good weekend Makecakes

Dramaqueen - oh the joys of housework - enjoy!!
We have a destination - Badhofgastein, only about 40 minutes from us, and the same distance if not quicker to the hospital(just in case), now we just have to decide which hotel.

No news from Paro yet, was she being induced?

bitofadramaqueen · 10/05/2008 11:18

Just to let you know that my la senza pj's arrived this morning - very soft and lightweight (and black!) so will be ideal for the hospital. Quite generous in size. I was a size 12 pre-pg and a 12-14 just now depending on where I shop. I got the 14 in these and loads of room - they might be a bit big post baby actually but I'd rather have too much room than not enough .

Congartualtions Neenz!

The babies are gorgeous, beautiful names too! Hope we can come up with some soon. You sound like your doing an amazing job!

makecakes not long for you, do go go in on thurs?

It has taken me so long to get through all the posts I have forgotten what I was going to write at the beginning!?!

Everything is going well with me, I have had quite a lot of period type pains, but really low down have no idea what it means but definately not actual labour so just have to wait and see if it turns into anything 37+2 today. Last day of work - thank god, and only in for 4 hrs so not too bad.

gemma sorry to hear your having a rotten time with baby's dad, try not to let him get to you and enjoy your pregnancy and baby girl. So glad you've got a supportive mum, she will be fantastic after the birth I'm sure. Josey is totally right about writing everything down, I found after the birth my head was so full, the only way to get it out is to write it down. I wrote my labour story and also a letter to mil (not posted) I found it helped a lot then you can just concentrate on what's important, your ex will never know what you've been through, so really no point trying to make him understand. x

ktpie · 10/05/2008 11:31

Thanks Deb, hope you have good weather as well.

Katyjo - enjoy your last day at work, mine was yesterday and if felt great to finish!

xxgemmalou22xx · 10/05/2008 11:33

katyjo thanks im coping though just feel angry sometimes. I think i have offended his family because they was involved with me and i asked them to give me some space to have the baby and get my head sorted out and since then if i contact them they dont reply i only contacted them to tell them about me being started soon and what happened at hospital appointments. I am wondering if i offended them i mean his mom said she understood but did she really? I tell you something if i didnt know of them i would be happier i just want to bring her up my way but when i speak to them its hard reminders of him and it is hard.. I realise she will want to know them at some point and if she ever asked i would contact them in a second i wont stop her but i dont know if i should keep trying or just leave it what does everyone else think??????????

katyjo · 10/05/2008 12:33

Thanks ktpie I will feels a bit strange to think I won't be working for the next year and baby could arrive anytime in the next 4 weeks - scary!

gemma I would try and keep contact if you can, but you are right to tell them when you need space. Is this there first grandchild? You will need all the help you can get, but don't be afraid to lay some ground rules.

bitofadramaqueen · 10/05/2008 13:25

katyjo - hope your last day at work ok. Period type pains could be stretching pains - I had quite a lot last week and that's what the midwife told me; you're a bit further on than me though!

Am bored of the housework already .

CONGRATS NEENZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Neenzandhertwinbeans · 10/05/2008 16:39

Thanks everyone for your lovely messages.

The babies are still AMAZING!!! Midwife has been today and she is well pleased with them. I was a bit worried cos Theo hasn't had a proper poo since the middle of yesterday (just a little in his nappy last night) whereas Esther poos all the time - virtually every nappy!

But MW says it is normal for them to go 24 hours or even two days without a poo before your milk comes in. Theo doesn't seem to feed as well as Esther either but MW said that is because she is catching up cos she was only 4.5lb to his 6lb. I assumed he'd be the better feeder but apparently not.

So after her visit I feel reassured. Theo seems happy enough and IS feeding (though not as much as Esther) so I did think he was OK but it was nice to hear MW say so. He is sleeping soundly now and Esther is having a cuddle with her dad. She loves her cuddles, I think cos she is so small she loves the warmth of being in your arms. Theo is not bothered - he'll just lie there in the carrycot all day except when he is feeding!

My milk has started to come in now so they are only feeding 10 minutes at a time. I think this is normal?? My sis says her baby (now 13mths) never fed for more than 10 mins at a time (their stomachs are very small aren't they).

The tandem feeding has gone a bit wrong today cos Theo keeps falling off the breast asleep, but it is no problem. We will get there! Last night was better than the night before, they were still quite unsettled but did sleep from 12 to 2 so I had two hours sleep then and was OK for the rest of the night just napping in between cries! They both had 30 mins each from 6-7am and then my mum took them downstairs again for two hours so me and DH could sleep. So I feel well rested though I tire easily, especially as we have had lots of visitors. Most people have been very good though and haven't stayed long. It has been lovely to show them off.

My mum has gone home today and for the first time it is just us! But as I am on MN updating you all you can see we are coping well so far. They just sleep most of the time - surely that won't last!

Right - who's next to pop?

Neenztwinz · 10/05/2008 16:51

I have changed my nickname - the twins have not been beans for a while now but they are certainly not beans now!!

Rolf · 10/05/2008 16:55

Hi Neenz. So glad it's all going well with your wonderful babies. You sound as though you are managing brilliantly. Reading your birth story and seeing that gorgeous picture really brought it home to me that soon I will have a baby too, and I'm getting really really excited

A friend brought round a moses basket yesterday so we have the first baby thing in the house. It's very different to last time when I was too scared to have anything until after DD had arrived safely.

DD was very excited about the moses basket and spent ages putting her dolly in it, but then she decided to take it off the stand and try to climb in it so after trying really hard to get her to play with it more gently I have had to take it away. She's very cross with me and I clearly will need to think of strategies to help her welcome the baby. Although the family consensus is that the baby will need round the clock protection!

debinaustria · 10/05/2008 17:49

Neenz - it's lovely to hear from you, you sound like you're coping so well with both of them. Tristan only ever fed for about 10 minutes at a time and often fell asleep on the breast, I was always blowing on his face to wake him up.
How does it feel to be just the 4 of you now your Mum's gone home? Are you OK? How long will dh be off with you?
Look after yourself and try not to do too much

I think next to pop could be Paro then Makecakes next week. It's getting so exciting.

bitofadramaqueen · 10/05/2008 17:55

Neenz great to hear that you and your twins are doing ok. It sounds like you're managing really well.

Rolf - it probably wont help to tell you that I used to sneak in and nip my baby brother when he was asleep in his cot ? We get on quite well now (over thirty years later)...

debinaustria · 10/05/2008 17:58

Rolf - maybe when baby arrives dd might change her mind? When we bought ds2 home ds1 was quite disinterested until ds2 was crawling, he only ever called him baby! Maybe the novelty will also wear off with her too?

Rolf · 10/05/2008 17:59

Thanks DQ . I'd already planned that DD's present from the baby would be a little moses basket with her own baby in it. I'm planning on hiding it in the car so when she is brought to the hospital to meet the baby we can give it to her then.

Neenztwinz · 10/05/2008 21:10

rolf that sounds like a lovely idea for dd. sorry for typing i have esther in my arms! We wre doing pretty well just the four of us, so far! i am still high as a kite from the whole experience. every new day just seems so exciting. theo still hasn't pooed tho! its been nearly a day and a half but my milk has come in now so hopefully the extra fluid will help him! mw was not concerned anyway.

Upsidedowncake · 10/05/2008 21:22

Nnenez, wow, thank you for posting and keeping us all up to date. Amazing stories and they sound so healthy and well.

Rolf, awww, mini Moses basket

Ktpie, hope you have a nice break

Scary day for us today as DS got progressively more and more ill over the day. He is now sleeping and OK, but I had my heart in my mouth a few times.

DS had been fine all morning (except for pooing his pants, which is unlike him.) At about 11,0,we noticed he had a funny looking rash - but NHS Direct said not to worry unless he developed a fever ...

By 2.0pm, he had a fever of 38.9 degrees, NHS Direct said Calpol him and phone us back if he vomits ...

At 5.0pm, he vomited ... By this time I was convinced he had meningitis and I was rolling glasses all over him with no idea of what I was doing. NHS Direct sent a doctor round, although by then, his fever had dropped back down, and DS was sitting up demanding Teletubbies. The doctor said it was a viral infection. I'll probably get it too, but it shouldn't affect the baby.

He's now in bed with a fever of 37.5 and seems much more himself.

debinaustria · 10/05/2008 22:13

Upsidedown - what a scary day for you, hope your ds gets better soon, how are you feeling?

Rolf - love the idea of the mini moses basket.

xxgemmalou22xx · 10/05/2008 22:39

oh people im so uncomfortable i been up and down all night just cant get comfy just come to bed and still cant get comfy me mate just said thats a sign im close to having my babby i dont no if that is true? Just Sooooooooooo uncomfortableeeee

katyjo · 11/05/2008 06:23

Is anyone awake? I rhink I might be in early labour!

Been having what I thought were bh since yesterday lunchtime, but seemed to get more regular, and then had a small amount of blood. I phoned mw who said to put a pad on and keep and eye on baby movement. My bh? are now every 8 minutes. Do you think I'm in labour? Not really in any pain just a bit uncomfortable, back pain and crampy. Sorry contractions every 7 mins!
Could this be it?

PearTart · 11/05/2008 06:39

Hello Katyjo- I'm here.
Could be happening- Contractions often start off like back pain/ period pain and then get more intense. how are you coping? When are you due?

PearTart · 11/05/2008 06:41

Just tuning in after being away from MN for a few days

Neenz- congratulations- just seen the pix of your beautiful babes. Your birth sounds really positive, I'm glad you were able to deliver as you did and it sounds like you are doing well. Great names too.

PearTart · 11/05/2008 07:52

Katyjo- wishing you the best and hoping that this is it. Have you got your hospital bag ready. Good luck and keep us posted if you can...
